Hi guys, sorry haven't had a chance to catch up properly this week.

Diege belated happy birthday to Jasmine, hope she had a lovely day and enjoyed her party this weekend.

Tex thanks for a great day today, Ben thoroughly enjoyed himself at the party and we could have happily have stayed all afternoon. I get the feeling I am going to be hassled for a kite in the morning
Rosie is just gorgeous by the way, what a happy, placid baby, I couldn't believe how happily she was being carried around today, Thomas just wriggled and wriggled!

Chully, Thomas sticks his tongue out all the time and Ben does it when he is concentrating really hard on something, so I assume it's a normal thing, think it looks quite cute personally, but lol at the challenged look!

Brownie I've always wanted to go to the bulldog bash and Ben absolutely adores motorbikes so might take him along next year, you'll have to remind me when it gets closer

Jen eek at F having measles , sounds like you coped with it admirably though and it sounds like you are one busy lady, good to see you post though, look forward to hearing from you more when things settle down.

Right I'm sure I've missed loads but I'll end up writng a novel otherwise, hope everyone else is well, can you fill me in if I've missed anything else ths week.

News from us, Thomas is up on all fours rocking wildly, but also trying to stand unaided, he gets really frustrated when you stand him up and hold his hands, he keeps wanting to let go - think that's an accident waiting to happen. The way he's going we'll end up losing the 6 teeth he's worked so hard to cut. He's cutting them in pairs and so he now has 4 at the bottome and 2 at the top, which look like tomstones.

Right I'm off for an early night, hope you've all had a great weekend. Beks

Beksmum · 30/07/2006 22:27

Tomstones - that should have been tombstones

Diege · 31/07/2006 08:31

Morning everyone Hope everyone had a good weekend, and didn't get caught out by the rain!! Jasmine had a lovely time at her party yesterday, and got soooo many pressies. Our house has been overrun by Bratz dolls, inlcuding a huge baby bratz that screams in a really irritating way, blowing bubbles all over the place!!
Cleaning house etc today, as still off work this week and next, which is lovely!! Just nice to be able to spend a bit of time with dd1, though she has all sorts lined up, and am trying to hold her back!!!
Speak later!

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 11:09

Hi girls, well that was a quick catch up!

Hope you've all had great weekends, birthday parties, outings etc. Diege - Have a lovely day at home, must be nice to have a break and spend time with DDs, i'm sure there'll be a spot of internet shopping thrown in throughout the day
Brownie and Chully, I think your LO's have their 8 month checks today or this week? DS is 8 months old on Thursday and am waiting a call from H/V as she kindly offered to do it at home when i met her last month. LOL at tongue antics - we had a phase of this too, it used to make me laugh, have a great photo of one of his tongue twisters
New tricks here are now standing to attention, sticking out chest and making strange gruntling noise with raised eyebrows - not sure where he gets that from, is a bit strange. We get lots kisses now particularly when i give him the 'glare' when he crawls over to wires and stuff, i think i have a mini Vinny on my hands!

We had a fairly relaxed weekend, our anniversary was spent just the two of us in local Lebanese restaurant - very busy, lots of atmosphere especially with belly dancer and very loud music - felt very strange to be out in town at night with a handbag (filled with girly things) and not the big bag of baby essentials and i only called home once Meal was paid for by a friend who called the restaurant and had the waiters wish us happy anniversary too - nice touch to the evening, really enjoyed myself.

That's about it here, DH and I met a couple in the park yesterday with 9week and 15 month old so we had a good chin wag about this and that - was very pleased that DH was present when lady said housework is out the window with two little ones He's being doing my head in lately about the mess...grrr!

Oh....anyone made the AK Sweet Veg Puree? Why do i need a mouli? Is it detrimental? I was just going to use my blender as usual, something about the sweetcorn, the outer part is undigestable, does that just mean it will come out the other end as it went in? (sorry) Well it smells good, best go and finish xx

Diege · 31/07/2006 11:25

Hi CHACHA! Your anniversary weekend sounded lovely, and Z sounds adorable with his littlepuffed up chest . We have our 8 week check on Wed (at home), but apart from that, nothing esp. exciting planned for this week! (maybe a spot of shopping if you insist...) BTW, if you have a blender you don't need a mouli, and yes, what goes in will come out re: sweetcorn!! Enjoy!!

novadandypowder · 31/07/2006 11:35

Chacha - it's because the outer shell of sweetcorn doesn't blend, same as peas. I just puch it through a sieve (although still can't bear sweetcorn since last pg!).

Noo is being very erratic with her appetite, never quite sure what I'm going to get at food times.

Seem to have spent the whole weekend getting annoyed at DH. He says I'm being oversensitive - well, duh, I'm tired and pg! He's off to Edinburgh tomorrow so I'll be crawling into bed when noo goes at 7! Suffering such crushing tiredness at the mo, but seem to be keeping the sickness at bay. This is when it kicked in last time, so I take each sick free day as a blessing.

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 13:24

Hi Nova, if it's any consolation sickness kicked in here a couple of weeks back - I am worse in the evenings and have been napping with LO at every given opportunity. Very tired most of the time and rag dollish IYSWIM. Good idea to get an early night and just rest. Have you looked at homeopathic remedies yet? I've yet to get out and get the one suggested. Sending you hugs x

DS is surrounded by toys, spoons, plastic things - stuff he likes playing with and yet he is still making a beeline for the wires and screaming when i take him away...geeeh!

browniechick · 31/07/2006 13:38

Hey All! It's been very quiet on here this weekedn - what with parties and weekends away, think it was just me & Chully at one point!! Oh well, glad everyone has had a nice time, and sounds like all parties, anniversaries and weekends away went very well.

Had Thomas's 8 month check this morning - how bizarre! It was a catologue of weirdness and stuff from start to finish! First off, I had to wake him up from morning nap to take him (never a good thing you understand, we need our sleep chez Brownie!!!! ), anyway, we get there and the HV was a bit late (didn't realise, as I hadn't got my watch on!), anyway, she seemed to think we'd phoned up to say we couldn't make it! so she thought we weren't going, and her first appointment was 10:30! Couldn't understand any of that, as I hadnt phoned up! She said well, I think it was your Mum (who was with me too!) but the name was Smith, (which by bizarre co-incidence is my Mums surname!). Anyway, we had the check - then we got all confused, cos she was telling me I'd filled in his age wrong in wks in his red book! Then came home to find message on answer phone to say apologies, I was right and she was wrong! All the babes she was seeing this week were October babies! So she got confused, cos T is a November babe! So, his 42wk check was done at a little shy of 36wks!!!! So I have a very advanced little boy!

It was a real non-event really - she asked if there were any concerns re his sight, hearing, development or health - she asked how I was feeling etc. Checked to see if he would pick up really small objects (daft woman tried to see if he would pick up her engagement ring - which he promptly tried to eat!!!!), saw him sitting up, I had told her he likes to pull himself to standing, which she then tested (he didn't let me down! He performed on cue ).

We also got our first Bookstart pack - very nice

Anyway, it all went well -how did all the others get on? CHully - how did Jonty do today? Diege, let us know how Libbs gets on this week (when is her rearranged kidney scan, is that this week too?)

Beks - cool, if you come to the bash next year, perhaps we could try and meet up for an ice lolly!? It is usually mid to late August - so will keep an eye out next year!

Best dash, T is having a nap and I could do with a million winks myself!

Brownie

Rodeo · 31/07/2006 13:46

HI

Glad the parties went well LOL at annoying Bratz baby, I always try to give annoying toys to Charity (not actually very charitable!) but always seem to get caught out!
Beks, good to hear from you, was thinking the other night that we'd not heard from you for a while Wow, 6 teeth!
Chacha, What is it that makes wires so interesting?! We get it here too. You anniversary celebration sounds lovely, not been out with dp for AGES, must sort something out soon. Good choice of words from the woman on the park I love it when things like that happen!
Nova, 7pm bedtimes sounds like a good idea, hope you cope ok this week with dh away They're must have been something in the air this weekend, dp has been irritating me too! Although I am due on today, grrrr!
Had a lovely BBQ on Sat night, got back around 10pm, which the children found very exciting, walking home at that time of night! We turned into one of those families who always judgementally tut at - "Fancy having kids up at this time of night!"
Speak later my mum's trying to gt through

OP posts:
Rodeo · 31/07/2006 15:04

I'm back
Well done little T on your 8 month check!
Jess has got her 1st sickness bug today with diarrhoea, yuk and is flaked out on the sofa. Started this morning about 9 and everything is coming back up. Just offering water at the moment, and had a nibble of toast this morning. WIll keep her intake low and keep an eye on her.
Mum's rung to say gran's now non-responsive - she's still in hospital (it been about 12 weeks now) and she's in renal failure so we don't think it'll be long now But it's been expected for a while.
We've just had a huge shower - hope the bad weather's gone by the weekend!
Bye x

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 15:23

Oh Rodeo sorry to hear about nan, was going to ask about her just the other day but didn't want to appear nosey, thinking of her.
BBQ sounds lovely. Sorry to hear about little J, poor little thing. Hope it's just a passing thing and she's not too poorly for too long.

Brownie - Imagine giving T her ring What did she think he would do with it? Look at it without expression or try it on perhaps? He sounds very advanced and doing so well - lovely.

DS has decided he does not want to nap today and is just doing the pull ear back and forth thing (that he does when tired) but refusing to lie down and shaking milk all over him instead and laughing...grrrr, i really need some sleep. I happened to flick by the tweenies and showed them to him and he started growling at them - wonder if he finds them scary? He is doing a lot of growling and screaming and both legs launch upwards now at same time making it impossible to change nappy or put trousers/shorts on - he also finds great delight in squeezing/pulling my nose and sticking a little fist in my eye!!

Diege - I've just made a cottage pie with Asda's veggie mince - smells totally different than the Quorn - have you tried it?

novadandypowder · 31/07/2006 17:20

Chacha - I know how you feel, noo is totally wired as she's had barely any sleep today and is soooo tired that she's gone into hyper overdrive. How much longer is it until 6.30? Have left her shouting in her cot at the mo as I just want a break.

Rodeo - sorry to hear your news.

Right, have forgotten what everyone else has said, but love to you all x

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 19:33

Hope you are getting some sleep now Nova - bedtime could be anywhere between 9 and 11pm here - as I type the LO is very much wide awake and DH is still at work - roll on bedtime!

Totally in shock at the pictures I've just seen on C4 news I can't find the words, just shocked, am off to surf to see what we can do - poor, poor people Feel so silly moaning about being tired!

Have a nice night all x

novadandypowder · 31/07/2006 20:24

No sleep yet Chacha, only just had dinner, then I have to spend time with DH before he goes away tomorrow (esp. after being a cow over the weekend). What homeopathic remedy are you taking? I've got some Sepia that's designed for nausea caused by the thought or smell of food. Not had to take any yet, but have been sucking on some preggie pops in the morning.

Rodeo · 31/07/2006 20:30

Evening!
Nova - LOL at 'hyper overdrive' Know exactly what you mean! Hope all babies are asleep now, Jess flaked out on me about 7.30 after screaming her head off in cot, have just taken her up, doing that cartoon type creeping along as not to make a sound (don't know why I don't walk normally)
Chacha, can sympathise with being beaten up by baby! Jess loves to pull on my hair, but not in a nice way, she's careful to pull only about 3 strands at a time to make it extra painful! Found that half price pushchair too Chacha - it's here
Thanks for the kind messages, obviously my mum, grandad, aunts and uncles are affected more. My mum's due to go to Portugal on Thursday and she's talking about cancelling, but she could do with the relaxation. She's been visiting gran everyday and has a full time job as a nursery teacher and she's worn out, poor woman.
Bought one of these earlier, thought it would come in handy whilst camping next week. Apparently a mum of 12(!) hand makes them up in Scotland. Bit worried it will make me look like some wannabe earthmother, but for that price I'm going to risk it!
Having early night tonight, so will log off before I get sidetracked by some other purchase I need! Night x

beartime · 31/07/2006 21:11

Hi everyone, just though I'd pop in and say hi, particularly as DH is away for a week so I have a little bit of spare time on my hands!

I'd love an update on all the babies and what they're doing if anyone has time (not that I'm anxious or competitive or anything ) and the mums too - caught sight that BoB is pg - congratulations! Anyone else?

I hope you are all OK. We are fine, and Caleb is soooooo gorgeous, and happy all the time. (well nearly) he is crawling now, tho' not on hands and knees but on his tummy, but he's pretty fast. And not really pulling up. And he ate his first cream cheese sandwich today!

To all the bfers, FINALLY got my AF back last month whoopee, and didn't have to stop bfing - and no pain!

Chully · 31/07/2006 21:17

Rodeo, I'm so sorry to hear about your Gran - how awful for you all! I'm assuming that if she's in renal failure it's not treatable, so I hope for her she's getting loads of fun things to prevent too much pain. Thinking of you especially with Jess coming down with a tummy bug, too! It all happens at once, doesn't it?

Brownie, Thomas's checkup sounded more interesting than Jonty's - he didn't get given a ring to eat! In fact, it was all very dull, according to DH. The most interesting thing he had to do was to show that he could sit, so he sat obligingly in the scales for a while, watching the HV quietly. (He's never sat obligingly or quietly at home!) Anyhow, when he was born the dinky little thing was on the 9th centile; he's now on the 50th for weight (the porker!) and on the 75th for height (which he certainly doesn't get from me!), so he'll be tall, I think.

Deige & ChaCha, have fun with your home 8-month checks this week!

Nova and ChaCha, hope the horrible sickness wears off really soon! And ChaCha, your anniversary sounds great - far more interesting than anything we ever do to celebrate! (We've been married so long it's all we can do to remember the date! )

Beks, love the tombstones thing!

Diege · 31/07/2006 21:43

Evening . Just back from SW meeting, so having my usual Monday night binge, feeling very sick now but never learn!
RODEO: sounds like you're really going through it at the moment ; must be really hard coping with everything when Jess is poorly too, though hopefully she will sleep for you tonight. On a lighter note, that sling looks pretty good ; what colour are you going for?? Might go for one myself too, for hols etc, as such a good price. Can you imagine the sight of us in matching ones in Whitby!!
CHACHA: totally sickened too by the news/pictures, and have always found myself getting really angry about the whole 'thing', and esp. the whole Bush/Rice 'take' (not wanting to offend any Americans, except George ). Makes you feel so grateful for what we have here, and sick at the world
NOVA: Hope you got your early night!! Have you tried the morning well CD?? Thought you mentioned it at some point, but might be my imagination. I got it when pregnant with L (had HG with dds 1 & 3)and it actually made me feel sick, lol!! What are the preggy pops like?
Right, aiming to be in bed by 10 as L is waking earlier every morning (5.15 this morning) and it's taking its toll. Anyone else finding this?
Right, good nights to all!

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 22:05

Evening girls,

Thanks for the link Rodeo, that's great, will add to list that i've compiled to let DH think that he's the man for choosing one.
I like the sling, very nice - I never got the hang of mine and ended up selling it, think it will be great for your trip. Really glad to hear am not alone in being beaten up by baby, it really can be torture.

Diege - You and your Monday night binges You're so funny! I've gone past the point of caring now, will be another year i think until i get my butt back into shape..hope not at the point of no return.

Nova - My sickness is at it was last year - leads me to believe another boy, two different pregnancies cannot be this much alike i think - would be interesting to know. Would you believe DS is still awake? Fortunately DH is just home and has taken over - he's sooo tired he's just sitting on chair with his dad shaking his head back and forth and laughing hysterically then doing his ear thing... Hope you get some rest, take it easy. Preggie pops any good?

Bear - Hello again. Glad all is well with you both. You need to catch up on some of the posts. Hopefully you will have a chance.

Chully - Heelllooooo!

Asda's veggie quorn wasn't very nice - but maybe it was just me! Nighty night all x

Diege · 31/07/2006 22:06

RODEO!!! What have you done!!! I've just bought one in 'sand', first instinct was the pink one, but then have in mind that dh will be using it too . Wow, a real earth mother now

Diege · 31/07/2006 22:08

Hi CHACHA!! Meant to say those veggie minces aren't great - full of fat too, unlike the quorn ones!! Hi BEAR, CHULLY!!!
Right, bed for sure, no more shopping!!

browniechick · 31/07/2006 22:16

Hey Chully - glad to hear Jonty's check went well also!
Diege - Thomas woke up at 4:50 this morning!!!!! (so sounds like you got a lie-in!!!!! )

Bear - nice to see you! glad to hear things are going well with you and yours

Rodeo - about your Nan - hugs to you and your family. Also sorry to hear of little Jess's tummy bug - not nice, still have nightmares about T's!

Off to view photos taken by PixiFoto tomorrow! ooh a real shopping dilemma! Which ones to buy, how much to spend!!!! Will let you all know how many I manage NOT to buy!!! (probably a smaller number!!!)

Off to bed now - good night all!

Brownie

tessasmum · 01/08/2006 08:14

Hello everyone! We are still here and keeping up with thread but finding it very difficult to post. Tend to read when Ash is feeding but he gets all distracted and wants to join in if I start typing. Probably my fault for letting him play on this which he loves

ChaCha - yes two pregnancies with different results can be similar, mine were pretty identical and look what I got! Hope the sickness isn't too bad, must be a nightmare with Z to look after.

Nova - I was told that men just don't get it 2nd time round. Its all concern and sympathy and nice treats the first time but then they seem to have the empathy chip removed from then on. Sorry! Did happen a bit here but I was quite forceful in reminding him of my situation so it didn't get too bad.

We have a SIGNING baby
I thought I saw him sign 'finished/all gone' a few days ago but wasn't sure if he was just copying me. Then on Sunday he signed it to DH with no prompting when he wanted to get out of Tessa's little tent in the garden! Has since been using it at every opportunity, usually in the right context, and added 'milk' yesterday, again usually in the right context. All very, very exciting

Chully - LOL at keeping Jonty in his cot till his check! I know exactly what you mean. Ash had a variety of bumps and bruises for his check a few weeks ago but I think questions would have been asked if I'd taken him last week - bump on eyebrow, mark on bridge of his nose, scratches on his neck (thanks to big sister trying to pick him up I think!), bruise on his back, more scratches on his tummy and a huge variety of bruises/scratches on his legs I think its because he is so mobile so early that he just goes for it rather than think about it first and sometimes that ends in disaster!! He does seem to bounce though

Better go and get dressed as student will turn up in a while and we will all be in our pyjamas again.
Hopefully sneak on again later!

ChaCha · 01/08/2006 09:11

Morning girls,

Hi TM - Wondered where you were. Just had a look at that link - how cool! Will have to try it out later. Interesting to know that two different PGs can have similar symptoms, I am more excited to know the gender of this one than i was with DS, don't know why.
Well done on the signing, that is great!

Have had a good night's sleep, was really tired yesterday, 10pm is just too late for the LO to be going to sleep, that's a 15 hour day - at least DH takes him at night so i can sleep peacefully, i tend to take him at 6am where he snuggles down for a bit longer with me.

Going for some fresh air before lunch x

babyonboard · 01/08/2006 13:36

Hi all..sorry no time to read through, but hope you and babies/ tots are all well..I will catch up tomorrow

Chacha I emailed you re. our trip to oxford, did you get it?
We are all good..O is being a real star and contentedly playing alone (which is rare!) and sleeping well too.

take care all
