Utopian I missed your post Blush sorry you're having such a tough time Sad I don't think I have any advice I'm afraid. My niece has always been an awful sleeper and was an early walked, very bright. Wonder if there's a connection?

Sorry to hear about bad sleep.. We've had disturbed nights too with coughing coughing coughing it's driving me mad!

Birthday/ Xmas presents all sound ace. I think we're going to get a trike- one of those with a stick handle on that the parents push with until they're bigger. Parents have already bought mega blocks.. I also think we will go to sea life. I'm guessing it will be cold/ rainy/ snowy (?!) mid December so indoor activities all the way!

Spotty where did you get your 10 x it's my books? DS loves those :)

I agree with whoever said (sorry) that we should try to save pennies on pressies now while they don't really get it so we have more later! We also shouldn't feel guilty about not buying loads or feel pressured to buy loads.. My DSD (13) got an iPhone 5 last year (not from us) so we're never going to be able to top that so won't even try!!

Can anyone recommend any nice fancy baby clothes shops that I can browse on while DS is napping?

I've not bought any birthday or christmas presents yet. I have no idea what I'm getting. I'm going to copy off you lot when I can be arsed to start shopping.

N is getting a Happyland submarine for his birthday and a trike with a stick handle for Christmas. Will be getting some books and a few other bits too, but definitely agree with less is more at this age especially for DC2 when the house is already packed to the rafters with toys.

Great news about the extra hours Hales.

Hope things get better soon Utopian. Really wish I had some advice but both of mine have been poor sleepers understatement. They have both been early walkers too so maybe there is a correlation Spotty

Thanks Maryland I had a bit of a snoop around but didn't see anything I HAD to have!

The books were from WHSmith for £12 but sold out super quick. I've got bits from eBay selling sites and all dd's happyland stuff is from eBay. She has the alien bits and loves them even now Smile

What is happy land?

Report
WillYouDoTheFandango · 04/11/2013 21:37

Happyland is little people and playsets, I think it's from the ELC but not sure. My uncle has got DS happyland zoo for Christmas.

ddas · 04/11/2013 21:42

Happyland is great for toddlers. We're a big fan.

Past 2 weeks been thinking about stopping bf- keep thinking I'm ready and want my body back but then chicken out. Worried I'll regret it & this my last so once I stop that's it. Sounds a bit silly really!!

ddas · 04/11/2013 21:44

Plus will have to figure out another way of getting her to nap/sleep without the boob. My DM,dh and nursery seem to manage it but she won't do it for me and hold out till she gets boob!

Report
WLmum · 04/11/2013 22:22

Not silly at all ddas I know exactly what you mean (although I'm not quite ready)

Report
ISpyPlumPie · 04/11/2013 23:32

We've got the spaceship/alien Happyland stuff too as well as loads of other bits. DS1 also still likes playing with it every now and then (especially if N has shown an interest in it) so it's definitely proved to be good value so far.

I'm another one who's alternating between wanting my body back and not quite being ready to close the door on bf. Given that since early 2009 I've been either pg or bf (or both!) it's going to seem quite strange when I do stop. Am more than a bit scared about the impact of the change in hormones if I'm honest - it's bound to affect me somehow isn't it?

Barbeasty · 05/11/2013 05:35

Up every 20 minutes since 2am and when I got A from his cot I slipped on something. I've really hurt my ankle and 2 toes, and I dropped A (although only once I had collapsed onto the floor iyswim). He was fine, I'm so not up for work today!

But his 2 top front teeth have broken through at last, and his babbling has become more like conversation.

Report
SpottyTeacakes · 05/11/2013 05:47

Oh no beasty Sad

Re bf when I stopped I didn't have any problems with hormones but ds had been on nursing strike for so long my supply had really dwindled.

Eugh I find it really hard to eat this time of morning.

Ouch beasty

Not the greatest of nights here. R spent most of the night in our bed attached to my boob. Everytime I tried to take him off he would wake up. DM is coming to collect him whilst I work from home today.

Report
WLmum · 05/11/2013 07:38

T slept 8.15 til 4.45! Hoorah! Feed and back down til 6 then in with us dozing on the boob til 6.45. Think ill give it a few days before tackling the 4.45 wake up. Sorry for rubbish sleep elsewhere.

beasty that sounds nasty. Hope you manage to rest it for a few days.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 05/11/2013 09:27

8:15-4:45, 5:00-8:15. Boom! Obviously he's still poorly (chest infection if I didn't say I'd worked it out) so that'll have an impact.

Massive improvement in speech here too, I love watching them change Smile

Report
Barbeasty · 05/11/2013 12:27

I'm not sure how much of the poor sleep was down to having to come back to work today! I think I really need to start putting A back in his cot, we disturb each other otherwise and wake each other up.

I'm resting my leg behind a desk today. But I do have a brief site visit tomorrow.

I more or less let DD choose when to stop feeding, so I guess I'll do the same with A. No getting pregnant and forcing the issue this time!

WLmum · 05/11/2013 12:27

Wow willyou that's great sleep! Hope his chest is better soon.

Beasty - sounds nasty. Hope you recover quickly.

Fab sleep Willyou.

N's getting more conversational all the time. He's always babbling away "chatting" to us and the changes in tone (combined with a fair bit of pointing) means he's getting really effective at communicating his needs for someone without much of a vocabulary Grin.

Stressful day at work, awful headache and only just sat down for lunch. Have to leave to get dd in half an hour. Woe is me Sad

Report
lazzaroo · 05/11/2013 15:32

That's horrible spotty. Hope headache lifts soon. And you beasty, hope your leg better soon.

Think I may have passed my stomach bug on to dd1. She was supposed to do her sleep study last night. We got the monitor on her toe at 8.30 & then at 9 she was crying out. We thought it was the monitor disturbing her but she'd been sick everywhere Sad. needless to say the sleep study was abandoned, she ended up in bed with me & I'm knackered (as ever!)

Good sleep WL. hope your little one better soon willyou, good sleep will speed recover for sure.

ddas I am feeling the same about bf. I do want to stop. But at the same time,it's so easy I wonder why I want to set myself up with another challenge!

utopian I hope you have found some helpful advice on sleep board. I am onbviously rubbish at inducing good sleep as both mine have been terrible (I'll stick with the theory about the link with brightness & early development! Wink)

Work today & baby lazza did a 2 hour nap for my mum! Have just tried to get her to sleep now though so she's not awake too long before bed but she's not having it. Well, went to sleep on me but woke when I put her down. Will just have to keep her going now I think Confused.
