BobaFetaCheese · 24/01/2014 21:30

Hop, sympathies Thanks I found food poisoning worse than giving birth to DS2.
How's the back Oi? DH is in love with his chiropractor, has helped with everything from stick neck to post-run shin pain.

I know it's been recommended on Fred before but toddler taming has helped me tame the beast & find it lots easier to rise above it (like Cool Runnings).
Will try toddler calm too.

DS1 has finally decided to get jealous of DS2, so is jumping on me during feeds ('my mummy my mummy') which is great fun all around, remind me why we want another Grin

Dec 2011-KHAAAAAAAAN! (going on the Trekkie theme, seems to be their language atm).
Dec 2011- 12 years until they're teens and we can embarrass them shopping instead.

Figster · 24/01/2014 21:35

I've got my toddler taming book out to read over the weekend can't have many more days like today. Of course after I posted he was fine dh helped as was on edge he played nicely and was asleep within 5 mins tonight.

Watched the worst film I think I've ever seen tonight spring breakers, don't put yourselves through it ladies.

TheOnlySeven · 24/01/2014 23:07

Worse than Jeepers Creepers? Or Dude, Where's My Car?

Figster · 25/01/2014 06:21

Seven yes worse than east is east too (I still get angry about that one),

Can't sleep dh snoring like I've never heard in my life down on sofa in a blanket grrr

Aethelfleda · 25/01/2014 08:11

What didn't you like with with East is East, figgy? i know there was quite a bit of stereotyping, was it that?) I saw that with an Asian friend when I lived in Bradford and she thought a lot of it was poking fun but pretty astute....

Now, Problem Child. There's an hour and a half I'm never gonna get back.....and The Smurfs Movie. shudder.

OiMissus · 25/01/2014 09:36

We chose one of our films on catch up last night... 2h05. But we fast forwarded to the start, hurrah - that took 13 minutes off!
We watched the film, and enjoyed it, but yes, you guessed it, it finished 13 minutes before the end.
Duh!!!!
Boi is sticking stickers on my face. He painted my face yesterday. Grin
The back is still broken. Hmm

mopsytop · 25/01/2014 13:50

How annoying Oi

Figgy we are all that mother sometimes! Toddlers are challenging!

Rain rain rain gah! Think I'll watch "Death Comes to Pemberley"...

NorthernChinchilla · 25/01/2014 14:57

Hello!

Fairly settled in new place now, it's great. I have knackered myself getting everything sorted and unpacked- we now just have a few boxes of clothes and nigh on 20 a few boxes of books and CDs to unpack. However, we're going to have to buy new storage for that first (like, four bookcases or something Blush).

Was a bit wibbly (euphamism) when we left our old home, and for a few days afterwards, but have got past it now. Have had a good session in the new garden, digging out and moving some of the god-awful stuff the previous owners had, to make way for my nice plants Grin

That's good news on the job front mopsy, you're obviously doing well in your field, given the numbers of interviews/job offers you've had in what's a difficult area. And waiting-and-seeing won't affect TTC for such a short amount of time.

How're you doing now hop? Do you know what caused it?

We have definitely all been that mum figster, don't worry. Toddlers do this to you, it's entirely natural, though doesn't seem to make any sense from an evolutionary perspective ("I know, I'll go through a really difficult stage when I'm still dead vulnerable, and get put out to be eaten by wild boars" Hmm)

We watched the third bloody Pirates of the Caribbean last night, no idea why...

Figster · 25/01/2014 16:39

Mopsy I enjoyed death comes to Pemberley especially Matthew Goode as wyckham Grin

Took DS to free kids cinema in our local youth community centre with friend and her 4yo. As he loves cars thought he'd sit through planes but Erm no......he was quiet for most of it but there was a dance floor sized space in front of the screen where he spent most of the time diving on top of the 4yo. Won't try that again for a while!! Took DS to local farm park this afternoon as had free entry but weather turned vile so had to give up.

Thai red Curry and bottle of wine tonight. Going to have to look out another film .....what do I fancy??

Chipandspuds · 25/01/2014 19:44

Ah glad you're getting settled into your new home Northern

Thai curry sounds delicious Figgy - enjoy!

Today has been good, DS and I had a lot of fun at the park whilst DH went to get his hair cut. I let DS go on the big slide that he has been dying to go on for ages, and he also had a lot of fun just running around and jumping in puddles!

I think this evening DH and I will start on series 2 of The Sopranos, I loved series 1, so hoping series 2 is just as good :-)

TheOnlySeven · 25/01/2014 20:01

Glad you're settling in northern.

Today we made vanilla cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery book. DS is staying at my mums tonight. He's gone with a list of demands, his bed has to have the dinosaur duvet cover, he wants a magnum after tea and a sausage and bacon roll for breakfast. Something tells me she's softer on him than I am.

mopsytop · 25/01/2014 20:56

Great that you're settling in Northern!

figgy, I've long been a fan of Matthew Goode (since Match Point) and he made a good Wickham, but I thought Matthew Rhys was pretty dishy too. Shame that he and Lizzy were portrayed as a little dull. I liked the actor who played Lizzy but the part wasn't spirited enough I thought. I might actually buy the book to see what it is like...

mopsytop · 25/01/2014 20:57

Also Colonel Fitzwilliam was really nice in the original so I felt it a bit far fetched that he turned out to be a dastardly self-seeking wretch ....

Aethelfleda · 25/01/2014 22:13

We had a family treat takeaway curry with the DDs once DS was in bed (special Dr Who stay-up-late-night!) it was the two-parter at the end of New Series 4 where they wheel out every companion going The DDs loved it and, more importantly, ate the curry! (I absolutely love curry so it is a subject dear to my heart, DD1 in particular has been very anti-spice the last few years so I am working on it as I want to be able to cook the same thing for all of us eventually. They both eat Korma and DD2 is good for up to chicken tikka masala strength. DS is crackers and likes spicy Bombay and Chevda Mix....)

Well done on the move northern, bet it's a huge relief!! We have been moved eleven months this week Shock

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies...

Figster · 26/01/2014 15:40

The local softplay was only open for an hour between parties today so went along for free, what with our free farm yesterday and this today we doing pretty well.

DS watched all 1hr 40 of toy story 3 this morning without moving not sure if it's good or not he has that level of concentration.

mopsytop · 26/01/2014 17:37

figgy Minimopsy is a huge fan of Finding Nemo. We just watched it for the first time yesterday and she had to have it again today. She keeps saying 'Nemo fishes'!

I made lemon cupcakes this afternoon using a Mary Berry recipe. Yum. Best cupcakes I've ever made I think (and I like to think I am pretty good at them in general... bighead that I am). The cake is such a nice texture. Hard not to eat them all! I'm also attempting pizza dough for the first time. It is a Dan Leopard recipe and v simple, not too much kneading. Mr. Mopsy usually makes it but he is a bit under the weather so I'm stepping in. His is amazing, same recipe but I'm pretty sure mine won't be as good!

OiMissus · 26/01/2014 18:29

Mmmmm cupcakes!
Boi was fab at football today. I was considering dropping it, some weeks it's like herding cats. But last week half of his "class" had moved up to a higher age group, and there were a lot of newbies. The newbies range from 18 mths to 29 mths, and the difference between him and them was quite surprising. It made me realise that he is getting quite a bit from it. Following instructions, learning balance and coordination etc.
This week, he was on fire! I was so proud. It was a joy. The instructors were all saying how well he'd done. At one point he was stood, arms outstretched, one foot on the ball, rolling it backwards and forwards.
It's been a good day. Grin
And my back pain seems to be easing quite a bit. GrinGrin

CaffeinatedKitten · 26/01/2014 18:36

I used to be here in a cephelapod based incarnation. I doubt I'll catch up, but I'm checking back in:)

NorthernChinchilla · 26/01/2014 20:12

Nice to see you kitten!

That sounds brilliant Oi; you've really given us the inspiration to find something similar to your Diddi Kicks (think it was called that?) for DS. Sounds like the BOi was being his usual genius self Wink and it is a shock when you see another 'toddler' who is either 3 yrs or 18 months, really brings home the differences. Glad the back is on the mend too, don't overdo it in celebration!

We're having a Thai takeout tonight aethel (and figster), and watching the last episode of Fresh Meat, so sort of snap! I cannot wait for the new Who series to start, bit of a wait I know... Can't believe you've been in nearly a year, I'd've said about 4 months Shock. Have you got it how you want now?

Loads more done today including two sets of curtain poles and curtains up, coat pegs and lampshades, and taken DS on two decent length walks otherwise one of us three would have been murdered.

Back to office work tomorrow!

Aethelfleda · 26/01/2014 21:15

Yeah, time flies!

We're doing ok with house really. Since moving in we've refurbed both showers and I've decorated the ensuite top to bottom and the spare-room inc Google-research-and-self fitting a new carpet (!!). Lots and lots of DIY has been done, this weekend I finally repainted the front doot the same colour as our old one (which made DD2 VERY happy, bless her). I've planted lots of things in the garden, created raised beds, put in some fruit trees and climbers...
It's now a case of going systematically around the house both organising stuff and decorating/fixing room by room. It's definitely "ours" now! But will always be something on the to-do list when it's a substantial place.

What's really been worth it ten times over has been the reduction in DH's stress levels (and time saved) for his commute. We are all getting there. Well done on the curtain poles, our illustrious vendors took all theirs too so I sympathise!!!

Yay for footy oi, it's all good for them....

mopsytop · 26/01/2014 21:21

Hey kitten was only asking myself the other day where you were and hoping all was well.

Pizza was quite good but nowhere near as nice as Mr. Mopsy's. Ok for a first effort though I think. Dan Leopard's bread book is ace.

Agh we still aren't even on the market Blush. this time next month fingers crossed!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 26/01/2014 21:35

Glad you're in and on the way to settled northern

Welcome back kitten, don't be thinking you can do a runner again.

OP posts:
TheOnlySeven · 26/01/2014 22:05

Welcome back kitten. Thankfully I got it from northens comment, I'm too dim to know what a cephelapod is Blush

aethel how on earth do you find time to do all that lot?! I'm in awe, I'm rubbish at DIY. I'm eager but useless, DH is capable so it just makes more sense when it would take longer for him to fix my cock ups than do it himself. It makes me feel bad when I add something else to the list of things I want done though!

Excllent work on the bathroom hop.

Aethelfleda · 26/01/2014 22:35

Hee hee seven, it was a) over eleven months so far, sp slower than it sounds, and b) I ended up with a six month break off work due to the move, so got more done in that time then I would have otherwise (mostly when DS napped).
Since restarting work it's slowed right down, as you say there's never enough hours in the day! Baby steps and breaking the jobs down into little sections seems to work best. So one day I'll re-silicon the bathroom floor edges, another day will do the bath panel, anther day will put up a towel rail etc etc. gradually it gets done. And I do a LOT of looking DIY bits up on Youtube/google/in my Collins Complete DIy book!

OiMissus · 26/01/2014 22:53

Aethel - I am in awe of your illustriousness! I am a handy DIY-er. Normally. Or I was, in my last house, which was mine, without having blokey-types around consistently, I painted, wallpapered, built furniture, shelves, etc... Since DH came around, nothing happens.
And since DS, absolutely nothing! We've been here for 18-19 months and we've done nothing. I think, very disappointingly, I'm going to have to pay to get stuff done. I have no time.
It's depressing.
Oh. I did Boi's nursery. I did that. And it is bloody gorgeous. But that's all.
I have big ideas. Big plans. And it will start soon now DH has sold his house. He bought a car today. We get it next weekend. Grin
Welcome back oh caffeine kitty, I was lost with the cep thing. Now I get it. :)
Great to hear you're getting settled Northern, and hop, I seem to gather beauty stuff also. I bet your drains are lovely! Wink
