Ugh. Had 2 day course yesterday and today. Ended up w serious migraine yesterday. Just about got through the course but then couldn't drive home and wasn't eben capable of getting a train so had to get a hotel. Then had to leave at lunch today as even though head much better was scared of driving in dark and triggering it again as it is still lurking. Feel so washed out as well. Yuck. Wish I'd a job near my home Sad

Figster · 16/01/2014 20:02

Yuck indeed mopsy poor you!!

Ds is getting a hearing test due to his ear clutching, snoring slow speech development, i am sure he is fine.

OiMissus · 16/01/2014 21:46

Boo to migraines.hope you're feeling better.
Fig - hope figgy boy is ok. How are you ?

NorthernChinchilla · 16/01/2014 21:52

Like our DS figster, and I'm glad they're checking it out. So much better to get it sorted now, if his hearing is a problem, than years down the line. DS's next hospital appointment is in Jan.

Hope you managed that cheeky glass aethel!

I'd really like to adopt too, though DS is less keen. However, his parents were emergency foster carers for decades, so not sure if that's a reason. I think anyone who works in any way tangentially with the care system would want to adopt, just to give the kids a chance Sad. It is terrifying when you analyse it, the high amount of 'attention' these kids receive from SS, health, police, etc, and the subsequent emotional and financial costs...

Money transferred, removals deposit paid, it's getting closer Grin

Oh, and DS decided tonight he was not going to sleep in his cot, but in the double bed in his room- seems like he's made the transfer to big boy bed without any fuss Confused

OiMissus · 16/01/2014 22:46

DH's house has completed. Out of the blue. They said this Friday, but we didn't believe it, but everything's done and keys and monies will be transferred tomorrow! Yippee!

TheOnlySeven · 17/01/2014 09:32

That's great news oi.

mopsy you have my sympathies, I thank my lucky stars I've never had a migraine!

Tonight is quiz night. I spent 2 days trying to get the printer to work as it's an AirPrint one but the devices can never seem to find it. Finally worked out how to email a PDF direct to the printer last night, and the sodding ink has run out Angry. Sending DH out to buy more and pick up the last raffle prizes while I panic about what I must have forgotten.

Figster · 17/01/2014 12:40

Happy bday to me Grin

Went to bed last night all retrospective and down today have realised its just another day.......except I got a new radley handbag to go with it Grin

DS woke me at 5.30 but then we all slept til 8.15, dh did the weekly shop last night so avoided that, taken DS swimming this afternoon we all off shopping In town, lunch somewhere then off to see American hustle tonight after DS in bed as a friend is sitting in with him. All very grown up unlike my 23rd where got blottoed and threw up just outside the house Grin. All I know is I don't want to turn 34 without either having a squidgy baby or be growing one.

Figster · 17/01/2014 12:42

Oh and ........

excellent news oi

Hope quiz night goes well tonight seven

Good luck with all the moving fun this weekend northern

Mopsy hope you feeling better!!

Oh and Boba I've no probs with church I think it teaches strong values and is priceless to some people in its sense of community .......it's just the actual god stuff that doesn't sit with me.....which Is kind of the important bit Grin

OiMissus · 17/01/2014 17:08

The money is in the bank! We are done. The house is out of our hands. Only one mortgage to pay, only one council tax to pay!
Happy Birthday Figgy!
I'm the same about God. Love the "do unto others..." Lessons, stories, community... Just not the spiritual stuff. My only spirits are mixed up and sat on ice. Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 17/01/2014 19:36

YY to that Oi! hollers DP ref lack of drink
I had a lovely chat with a Unitarian minister after he did a friend's wedding, and we had exactly the same approach/beliefs/ethics, etc. apart from the fact that his were God-based, for want of a better term.
That is awesome news about the house- it was one of the things I picked up strongly from the property boards, nothing happens for ages and then all of a sudden, BAM! It's done!

We transferred the money to the sols today
It was what I had budgeted for, so the fright with the £30k was definitely misplaced Confused

Happy Birthday figster, happy birthday to you! Hope DP is being lovely today, and that he and DS give you a lie in.

How're you feeling seven, first trimester exhaustion not got you yet? Take it you and your DH are getting more settled with the idea.

A wild weekend of batch cooking food that can be microwaved, cleaning and runs to the dump await...

Aethelfleda · 17/01/2014 22:01

I must confess I still get pangs of what-if when I drive past the old grade 2 -listed houses in the naice village near us that we couldn't try to buy because they were off the market before we got onto it (so we looked at the listings but weren't in any position to view/offer, then someone else bought them or they were removed from sale). Then I remember we've not got the cash to move again so short of a TARDIS and/or a bloody great rewind button we have to make the most of the fabulously huge but new-build house that we do have. I keep telling myself even now that the old places would have had less space for the kids and been a money pit. Then I realise the new one is also a money pit.....

Never got that wine! Cuppa tea and bed, I think. Rock and roll.....

OiMissus · 17/01/2014 23:48

Me n DH have fallen out.
Maybe he'll take his money and fuck off.
Ah well.
Wink
(Have broken the dryathon. Whoops.)
Confused

OiMissus · 18/01/2014 00:07

I'd never be that lucky.
It'd never be that easy, would it?

QueenofClean · 18/01/2014 07:37

Oi - have you told DH that line ?

OiMissus · 18/01/2014 08:10

Which line? About taking his money?
No. It wasn't a big argument/discussion. Just a few words. I don't think I was wrong, I don't regret it. But I might go back to not drinking...

QueenofClean · 18/01/2014 08:22

Mmmm well hope your okay today?

OiMissus · 18/01/2014 08:24

Just heard that they've found that little boy's body. So so sad. And really angry. the mum has been arrested. If she didn't like him, why not just give him up to Social Services? Why the need to kill him? So sad. Poor little thing. :(

OiMissus · 18/01/2014 08:58

(I was probably drunk after two martinis. I have apologised.)

QueenofClean · 18/01/2014 10:06

I heard the news too. So sad that poor little boy. I had to turn it off as so heartbreaking.

We currently have biscuit decorating fun on the go. DD1 has her BFF over - she slept last night - so they look like twins wearing the same thing...in the conservatory play room watching Tangled decorating digestives in a tidy manner with icing, choc buttons, fruit pastilles & sprinkles! DD2 gone to supermarket with Daddy Smile

Aethelfleda · 18/01/2014 11:56

We're off for a pub lunch ooh the excitement and splashing out-ness am determined to resist overdoing it, have weight to lose!!

Kitchen sort-out continues, I bought an oven tray vertical stacker thingy and for first time have made room for a drawer for the DDs cooking utensils. Doesn't sound like much but they are really pleased with it!

And I have an unofficial job interview on Monday... the good news being if it doesn't work out I have a back-up offer already. Hopefully 2014 will be my year to get back into regular work!

Faffin · 18/01/2014 12:20

It is incredibly sad news about the little boy oi, but I do try not to judge the mother without knowing the situation and what drive her to it. A former colleague of mine is currently in prison for having killed her two youngest children. Not saying for a second that I condone anyone doing that, but having known her I know she cannot have been in her right mind to have done it, and that her life must have taken a very bad turn Sad

Faffin · 18/01/2014 12:25

Sorry. Didn't mean to sound all preachy!

Xiaoxiong · 18/01/2014 12:57

Hello all you lovely people - a quick duck in to explain my silence, a bout of PND knocked me for six but I am feeling much better now. Interestingly the first sign of not feeling well was dropping off the thread and also falling out of touch with friends in RL too.

I notice aethel didn't mention anything here but like a true friend she has done some epic hand holding and morale boosting and three weeks in the Kenyan sunshine plus a daily dose of anti-d's has put me back on the straight and narrow!

My work is ratcheting up a LOT and now I'm pretty much working full-time from home, at the same time DS2 is so much better and getting over his dairy intolerance, DS1 is being a typical toddler who was absolutely beastly to mini-aethel on thursday Blush

And DH has an interview on Friday for a head teacher position in Tanzania...!!

And we have a professional organiser (!) coming over on Monday for a declutter and to set up organisation systems for us - my christmas present from DH.

Now to catch up on everyone's exciting happenings!!

TheOnlySeven · 18/01/2014 12:58

faffin that's awful :(

aethel enjoy your pub lunch, hope the non-interview goes well :)

oi what was said then? Hope things are ok between you again now

northern no exhaustion yet, I'm very tired after last night though! Didn't get home until 11:30 then was up counting money and eating leftover quiz chilli Blush

Successful quiz, we raised £678.39, feeling rather proud of myself.

Such sad news about the little boy in Edinburgh. I might just give up watching the news, it's just so depressing. This week has just been all child abuse and paedophiles, I don't want to hear about people abusing children whenever I put the news on :(
