Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NorthernChinchilla · 06/12/2013 19:57

Seven, I was going to say that's exactly what DS had all last winter. He about 10-12 bouts of it, perforating his eardrum each time and all the snot oozing out (it does horrible things to bedclothes I warn you). Hence why we've been getting his hearing, etc, checked out.
Your DD1 has my sympathy, big doses of calpol ahoy!

Ooooh, fan trained fruit trees look byoootiful aethel. I took a load of hardwood cuttings from a particular rose and special budleija (can garden, can't spell for toffee...) I have, ready to be transported to the new place. Looks like all three of each have taken, and have my birthday rose ('Mermaid') and a load of other plants ready to go. You're lucky, fruit trees are so pretty when in bloom, especially apple.
And God yes to the life juggle, it's going to be even more so when DP starts his new job Xmas Confused!

Will stash the haddocks just in case faffin, but that sounds like self-awareness and self-preservation all in one yummy box Xmas Grin

Good to see you starjules as was!

mopsy, you're wrong, there's no other way to put it- the spaghetti and sausages combined are all sorts of wrong heavenlyness. OK, you probably had to get a taste for them as a child, as now they would be pretty grim if you're used to eating, y'know, real food and not minced up horse, but they're the best!!

Dinner just being served, am famished....

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 06/12/2013 20:41

We've been to the local Victorian evening tonight fake snow stalls steam engines DS was chuffed.

Tomorrow dh, his best mate and I are off to Wales to go down a coal mine bit random but it's gonna be bloody fascinating Grin and cold Hmm DS having a playdate with our friend and her 4yo am sure he will enjoy it they going to softplay. Tomorrow night we having a pre Xmas friends night out meal in local restaurant should be good fun PIL coming to sit in with DS.

Aethelfleda · 07/12/2013 13:49

Trees put in: check. dH acquired Chrimbo tree: Check.
House tidy.... Two out of three ain't bad, right?

mopsytop · 07/12/2013 14:00

The problem with tidying/cleaning is that no sooner have you finished then you have to start again. Much less stressful being a bit relaxed about it, I find. I used to be a total Monica before I had minim. But I'd rather spend more time with her and Mr.Mopsy than have the place spotless all the time. Cleaner is godsend tho but house still looks a wreck and they only came Thurs. Was spotless for half a day.

Mr. M in bed but minim much better than day. Yay. Wanted to put up our decorations but they're in loft and I can't get up there with minim in tow. Will have to wait. Hopefully tomo. Minim's fave new word is 'bauble' so I think she will be pleased Smile

thekatsatonthematt · 07/12/2013 16:15

I've never been much of a cleaner. Definitely fall into the "more cleaning in the 30 mins before visitors arrive than all week" category.

For some readon this morning I decided I ought to wash the vertical blinds and windows of the bay window. Y'know, before we put the tree up and can't even reach the blinds for a month.

I've now done 5 of the 6 blinds and 10 of the 12 window panes. I'd leave the last one tbh except thay is the one nearest the front door. That I tut at in disgust every time I leave or return to the house. Once DD has finished feeding I must get it finished. Sad

thekatsatonthematt · 07/12/2013 16:16

The blinds are horizontal not vertical. It'd look like a badly maintained office otherwise rather than a badly maintained house

QueenofClean · 07/12/2013 16:24

Ho Ho ho...

Sorry been AWOL been so busy in the run upto birthday's and Chrimbo.

We have our decorations up. Took both the girls to see Santa today and they loved it.

Sky had her 2 year review in the week and she is meeting all her milestones :) vocabulary is improving all the time and is putting sentences together now.

Darcie had her singing gig today and performed brilliantly. Autism traits are on high this week therefore been quite a tense week but got some great tips & advice at our local camhs group. Darcie at nanny's tonight so DH is making dinner and then will bath and put Sky to bed for me as it's PMT week and I have a very sore throat on top of that :(

Hope everyone is okay? Anyone who is TTC is lucky this month and Happy Birthday to all our babies.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/12/2013 20:17

Eeek! Don't remind me re. the birthdays.... As we've no family around (and of course they don't have friends yet) birthdays are currently a smaller affair, and I have to keep reminding myself that it's DS' next week- DP starting his new job on Monday and me sorting a major interview process Tuesday and Wednesday are pushing it out of my brain Xmas Confused!
Must remember to bloody wrap things, get balloons and some cake, but Bob knows how... spent four hours at the computer today, and will need a couple tomorrow to get the work shifted, but am getting there...

Really glad the CAMHS is helping Queenie, that's great news. Just being around families in similar situations is reassuring.

Are we all doing our trees tomorrow then? Can't wait, I'm going to put on a naff Xmas CD and dance along whilst I put specially selected wooden and therefore non-breakable by DS decorations up!

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 07/12/2013 23:47

I am doing tree tomorrow DS has a bday party at 2 so will have to get it done b4 that Grin our dining table is full of Christmas shit house never looked so untidy Blush

I had a letter from HVs today basically giving me opportunity to opt out of a 2yr check which I think is outrageous. Basically the people who prob need it the most are most likely to do this and then what chance do the kids have? Am so angry at it DS is having a bloody check to spite them.

QueenofClean · 08/12/2013 07:24

Northern hope Mr Northern gets on okay tomorrow on his first day.

NorthernChinchilla · 08/12/2013 09:39

Cheers Queenie, me too. Thankfully it's still with the same team, but the step up from admin to social work will require a steep learning curve.

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 08/12/2013 18:41

Tree is up and party accomplished had low expectations for the day after too much gin last night and those low expectations have been met Grin

mopsytop · 08/12/2013 18:42

Christmas decorations up! Such as they are. Minim was thrilled. She said 'baubles' about 100 times.

Also bought a beautiful new fitted double breasted black wool coat from Hobbs. In the sale. But still stomach-lurchingly expensive. Gorgeous though. And I've been looking for a nice winter coat for nearly 2 years now. Hopefully it lasts.

NorthernChinchilla · 08/12/2013 21:32

I did exactly that myself mopsy, except it was dark grey. Brilliant purchase, so warm, and think of it in cost-per-wear: you know you'll still be using in ten years to come, and so it's really good value!

Tree and decorations up, sooooo pleased Xmas Smile

OiMissus · 08/12/2013 21:39

My DH starts his new job at my place on Monday too, Northern. It might have been something to look forward to had he not had a MASSIVE spat with his new boss at 3am at our Xmas night out. Whoops!!!!
Hopefully they will both forget they are men and accept that they may have had a bit too much to drink... It was probably the Absinthe shots...
ConfusedAngryConfusedBlushAngryBlushConfused
Anyway, the Boi had his birthday party today. We did it at the house and it went really, really well. I think everyone had a good time. Boi did. Grin

OiMissus · 08/12/2013 21:39

(His birthday is on Tuesday.) Smile

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 08/12/2013 22:38

Party was lovely Oi, did the clean up take long?

We've not got a tree or any decorations or even the advent calender up yet. I'm rubbish. Work has just been non stop and when I get home the last think I want to do it ferret round in the loft for the tinsel.

We've got a 'date day' on Tuesday, off into the city for a lovely breakfast, Christmas shopping then the cinema before picking up DS from nursery as per usual. One of my colleagues made a face about us taking the day off and leaving DS in nursery. Po faced cow. Apparently parents are not allowed to do anything fun while their offspring is in childcare.

I seem to have gotten over my bug. I also POAS after all the mutterings. Negative. It reaffirmed that I don't really want a baby (only want the idea of it, iyswim) as I was sat there on the loo hyperventilating waiting for the stupid thing to tell me my fate. Like, that panic you had at taking the test when you were 18 and had no way of looking after a baby. Phew!

OiMissus · 08/12/2013 22:44

The clean up operation was pretty simple. Bin bag. The beauty of paper plates!
We've left the furniture where it was too. I quite like the couch by the wall and that big space. Smile
I think we'll get the tree on Ali's birthday, or the day after. There was no way I wanted it up for the party. Now that would have been chaotic!

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 09/12/2013 12:01

Hope the new jobs go well.

figgy the entire HV service is optional, though I expect most people don't realise and I can see why they don't advertise that.

Very Envy of the coat mopsy.

I've got such a headache today, DD2 was screaming from 4-6am. DD1s other ear is crusty now, she's been poorly for a fortnight now, getting fed up with it. DH is on a split shift so this afternoons plan is eating pizza and chips and watching Arthur Christmas and trying not to fall asleep

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 09/12/2013 16:31

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 09/12/2013 18:02

Three for sale here, I'll chuck in DH too...

BobaFettTheHalls · 09/12/2013 19:21

I have no children left awake. Thank Bob Monday is over...
Tomorrow will be better hopefully

Hop, hope you manage to get him to sleep soonish!
Date day sounds lovely, have a wonderful time (you terrible parents you)

Seven, just read the fred & saw you're giving #4 a go, good luck!
We'd love another here but money/space is getting tight so it's a no go I think.

How did MrOi's first day go? Did he continue the argument with his boss?
