Northen, sympathies. Sounds like you're properly between a rock & a hard place with all the house woes.

Hop, you're one of the Oop North lot? I have a mini sewing machine, the one santa mentions, never used, bought for me for Christmas 2/3 years back. Trying to find a nice home for it instead of just dumping it in Charity Shop.

Figgy, sounds promising, will keep my fingers crossed for you

Xmas Envy at all you arty musical types, without being a tiger mother I'll be pushing the DS's to learn something.
DS1 is starting rugby classes next month Xmas Grin

Ds2 is teething, and the PIL (for those not on fb, they came down last week and spent the entire time glued to ipads/phones) have been better today but have bought another ipad.
Between them they have 2 iphones, 2 ipads, 2 kindles (and one of those is the modern dohicky ones); WHY?!

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 04/12/2013 21:45

Why indeed Boba? 2 iPads!!

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 05/12/2013 00:32

aethel it was me, but who am I kidding? I like being seven. And no bah humbugs, we're in full festive merriment here, two trees and an enormous wreath and I've eaten nearly a whole tub of quality street already

mopsy what was it like coming from such a big family?

I was wondering where queen is, hope she's ok.

I hadn't mentioned it but me and DH came back to the issue of DC4 after AF was late. I pretty much convinced myself I was pg and was really gutted when AF arrived, it was rather obvious tbh. DH had previously said he wanted DC4 but I'd said no. I confessed its my head saying no, my heart desperately wants one more, so we're trying again my mum will go spare

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 05/12/2013 08:42

Cripes seven have to confess I can't understand the need for 4 however some people don't want any kids, one or more than two kids so each to their own. It's not really anyone else's business as long as you can afford it tell your mother that Smile

I pretty much miss DS every morning now because he sleeps until 8 o'clock Hmm d8 has the cheek to moan that he has to do all the childcare mornings I do it every evening all day Friday all day weekends and does he not think I would wish the situation reversed. Still feeling sick today I think it is just a cold though.

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 09:10

Oh dear figgy. We haven't seen any haddocks around here for a while but might just have to check the deep freeze...

seven I love coming from a big family and am very close to all my siblings. I don't think I'd fancy it for myself though!

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 05/12/2013 15:29

So I'm still sick, I literally can't stop eating. I'm like a machine. I'm knackered, my boobs hurt, my back hurts and I feel generally like death warmed over. Either I'm getting the flu or I'm .... pregnant? Kill me.

OComeAllYeFaffhful · 05/12/2013 16:16

Why do men never learn that there are times when you need to rant about something and just want some sympathy, rather than logic and being told you're overreacting? Some small haddocks may be required chez Faffin

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 05/12/2013 16:27

Yep faffin am married to an analyst (by trade and nature). He makes spread sheets for everything and all things must have a logical analysis when really what you need is a good grumpy shout.

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 16:45

I think it is time to break out the haddocks...

Hop POAS time??

I'm already excited about my dinner which will be .... spaghetti hoops on toast. So sad to be excited about that. But I've had a boring day and need some comfort food!

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 05/12/2013 17:26

I would rather have the plague/small pox/monkey flu than be pregnant. Like, i get broody and then remember the sleep and the feeding and think 'oh yeah, tiny babies actually drive you mad after ten minutes, best not!' Think my pill finishes next week so we'll see then?

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 19:34

Are you using contraception Hop (other than the rhythm method, which, let's face it, ain't going to be winning any contraception prizes anytime soon...). If you are, then fingers crossed you aren't preg and is just a winter bug and you'll feel better soon!

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 19:35

OMG am a dunce. You just said you're on the pill. Sorry. Dense much me?!

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 05/12/2013 19:53

I love spaghetti hoops on toast mopsy!! They are mighty convenient.

Feel better soon Hop I'm not far behind you I eat to stop feeling squiffy then think I might feel squiffy because I've eaten too much. Tired grumpy and generally not right whatever that means!!

Watching the mummy mmmm Brendan Fraser Grin

I bought a make your own merry Christmas garland to do with DS the plan was I threaded it all and he did the stickers on it the reality was I did it all while he screamed out of tiredness Hmm

Epic Xmas present buying on the cards tomorrow need all friends and relatives children's gifts tomorrow. Dh coming to watch DS swimming then hitting the shops. Also need work secret santa and Xmas cards havent written 1 yet. Starting to panic Blush

NorthernChinchilla · 05/12/2013 20:34

Oh God figgy I'd be in a right state if I hadn't bought all the presents by now! We're still a little bah humbug in the house- as I was away last weekend, no decorations went up, and of course we weren't sure if we were going to move. Really need to crack on with that, but I have a pile of work I have to bring home this weekend, plus we've got someone coming to repair the stove, a friend coming round, need to collect a parcel, do the food shopping...
...and somewhere in there I need to spend some time with the two men in my life and have a bloody Wine!!!

I personally go for spaghetti and sausages on toast, it's my ultimate comfort/ill food

Hop, go POAS! And if you want no.4 seven, then go for it- it's clear you both do, and you'll both love the child, so what more (bar the finance bits as figgy rightly says) do you need? By the way, how's it going with the BiL/MiL situation, can't imagine Xmas will make it any easier if your MiL wants to do a happy family type crap?

Feel a bit more settle re. house- went and did a student sit in sat at the EA's and made them call the vendor, pretend I wasn't there and get an answer out of them. Indeed, they'd had the loft done out when they'd had the roof repaired and upgraded about three years ago, and didn't strengthen the joists as the room is small and rests on several supporting walls.
Now I know, I feel far more sanguine- we've been sleeping in our dodgy loft conversion for years, so seeing as this one will be used as a computer room I can take it. We may well regret the decision, but I'll just blame DP as he's the one who didn't want to rent... Xmas Wink

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 20:50

Northern when you say spaghetti and sausages, do you mean spaghetti hoops and then sausages cooked separately? Or those spaghetti hoops that come with sausages in them? I always thought they'd be vile... But have never actually tried them (for same reason).

Glad you have got info and made decision on house. Good work!

mopsytop · 05/12/2013 20:54

And seven I agree with Northern re more kids. FWIW my dad said to me only the other week (as father of 6 within 6 years) that once you go past 3 it makes v little difference i.e. one to two kids is big difference, two to three quite big but nowhere near as much a shock as first kid or going from one to two, after that it is fine, no more stress really (altho I'm taking it that 3 is pretty tiring already!). Also he went from 3 kids to 6 kids overnight and he STILL told me that. So on that wisdom I'd say go for it!!

Aethelfleda · 05/12/2013 21:14

northern, that juggle sounds like my life too!

Put up some of my new trellis today (yay!!) and am just off to wibble sort out my new bareroot fruit trees that need wrapping in wet newspaper so They won't dry out before I can get to plant them. Then xmas wrapping prior to a relatives trip, then tomorrow it's work, the school disco, then Sat tree-planting then off to relatives... Busy busy busy!

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 05/12/2013 21:30

Am on the pill. The proper one, not mini pill. I do want another a little bit but DH absolutely does not in any way. We've discussed it a lot and I'm actually really happy with it just being us three forever. I think I must just be under the weather as there is a bug going round.

OComeAllYeFaffhful · 05/12/2013 21:38

Keep the haddocks in the deep freeze for now....DH came home with a big box of chocolates for me Grin

nickdrakeslovechild · 05/12/2013 21:58

Here you all are! I accidentally hid one of the old threads months ago and couldn't find you all again. Was always more of a lurker than a poster was starjules, but had a name change. Right off to have a bit of a catch up.

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 05/12/2013 23:04

Thanks, you lot are all lovely Thanks

northern glad you've finally got an answer and can go ahead knowing how it is.

figgy hope the present buying goes well , enjoy Xmas Grin

aethel what fruit trees did you get? I bought a bramley apple when a moved, I'll have had it 3 years this spring. It's on borrowed time as it's still yet to produce an apple Hmm. We also have a potted pear tree which previous owners left, the last two years it's got really windy after it's come into flower and has knocked the flowers off so none of those yet either Xmas Sad. I want a plum tree when we eventually get rid of the conifer hedge, my mum had one in her old garden which produced so many plums, I think the year they moved we picked 18lbs one afternoon. I miss plum chutney.

hop weren't you mega broody or am I thinking of someone else. I hold it's the result you want anyway, go POAS!

mopsy everyone knows spaghetti hoops go best with fish fingers and chips :o

I'm getting fed up with DCs being poorly now. DD1 is on day 11 of having a cold and bring generally a bit miserable. DD2 started a couple of days later but is really suffering with teething too. I thought DS had escaped it but has spend the afternoon complaining of a headache and has a high temp, plus my throat is hurting now too.

Aethelfleda · 06/12/2013 07:18

Mmmm, spaghetti hoops.

I have three Christmas Twigs (remember Blackadder's christmas Carol, anyone?!) which cost me over £50 Blush
But hoping they will be lovely in time. One Canadian Cherry, one Concorde Pear, one Green Gage tree. All are 1 year old maidens, so will take a few years to fruit, but I can hopefully fan train them against our new trellis... They are dwarf root stock which will limit their size too so the garden's not crowded.

mopsytop · 06/12/2013 09:17

Jealous of your gardening skills. Mine are non-existant!

Mr. Mopsy and Minimopsy down with bug. I'm ok so far. Fingers crossed...

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 06/12/2013 10:02

DD1 has a very crusty ear and still has this horrible cold. She won't let me near it, I asked if it hurts, she said no then put her hand on it and cried . Getting her checked by GP later.

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 06/12/2013 18:51

Did I break the thread?

DD1 doesn't have an ear infection. They said her ear is inflamed and because she can't blow her nose the snot has to go somewhere so it's basiclally coming out of her ear. I didn't even know that was possible, toddlers really are disgusting.
