Sad Hinky, hope it's 'ok' at yours & you've managed to stop the leak (thank heck you were in and awake).

We pay just under £800 for a 2 bed flat (100% mortgage too, don't get those anymore), rent on flats in our development is £850-875pcm atm...we're slowly edging away from neg equity.

OiMissus · 14/11/2013 23:12

Yikes at the horrid leaks! Hope all is now fixed and ceilings are soon smooth and lovely. (Liked your shower-spray story, Figgy!)
My Boi is stillin some of his 18-24mth clothes.
Seven - no MIL is not controlling. She is not involved / around /all that interested. Which is just how I like it. Her beard is rather scary, and I'm not sure the Boi is ready for it, Shock

thekatsatonthematt · 15/11/2013 00:48

Hinky Sad sounds grim.

Yes, we've bled the radiators. The plumber has balanced the system, added some evil stuff and let it swish around for 10 days then flushed the system (radiators off the wall pumping black sludge out). Then bled and balanced again. Which seemed to make it worse (and coincided with the weather getting colder)

Today I think he replaced a valve in the boiler. We now have nuclear radiators and I'll need to spend tomorrow evening turning them all down. Shock [tropical emoticon]

I dread to think what the bill will be, this is the 5th visit.

Faerieinatoadstool · 15/11/2013 08:06

Your house problems don't sound fun, especially yours hinky, hope you get sorted.
We were paying £575 for a 2/3 bedroom house when we were renting.
Ds is still in 12-18m clothes and we still need to adjust the waist band, he has always been a skinny little thing (the only thing he takes after me for)!

hinkyhonk · 15/11/2013 11:28

Plumber been and coming back tomorrow. Need a new hot water tank as coil has gone apparently. Then tree dude came and basically said it's going to cost a bomb to sort. These things don't come in threes do they?

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 15/11/2013 12:17

hinky eeeek! Hope nothing else breaks! Think it must be the house gods jealous of ask the attention Christmas if getting.

Our mortgage is cheaper than the rent was on our one bed flat. Granted our house is dinky, but it's enough for us at the minute and so far has not been too much of a bottomless money pit.

Figgygal · 15/11/2013 13:13

I'm clearly a 1950's housewife as I have no idea how much our mortgage is a month, who our electricity is with etc. Blush

DS is in 2-3 tops mainly and just out of his 12-18 trousers he's like me short legs long torso even if he is 98th centile for height. So frustrating as he's lots of short sleeve shirts he now can't wear as its so cold can't find long sleeve vests to go under them anywhere......need to drag self to mothercare.

DS got a really rattley cough today and been off his lunch he's shouting for bics, Pom bears and yogurts but not eating soup or sandwich or fruit so he's going to have starve until he eats them.

We have noticed a strange habit he has adopted from me, whenever I'm sat on sofa I have a cushion over my lap/tummy it's something I've always done and he does it now too Smile

Figgygal · 15/11/2013 17:56

I think I've just been conned into buying DS new shoes he's currently in size 5.5g measured in clarks today they say 6.5g how can that be surely he would be spilling out his current shoes of that was right! That's £28 down the river Shock

ChipAndSpud · 15/11/2013 18:00

I won't mention what we pay, but to rent a 3 bedroom house in our postcode the cheapest one is £1250 pcm.

My db kindly told me that interest rates are going up in the next two years :( we have a two year fixed mortgage on the new house if it all goes through so I hope by then I'll be back at work after having a second baby so we can take the increase?!

I hate thinking about things as it seems hard at the moment but I guess we will manage as well as everyone else does!

QueenofClean · 15/11/2013 18:26

:( Hinky that's pants.

Sky Is between 18-24 & 2-3 yr clothes at moment.

I've been feeling pants today due to AF making an appearance :( also found out my uncle passed away yesterday. Very sudden. Heart attack on the golf course we think. Will need post mortem so no more details at moment. however, my day has ended on a high note as I've been appointed Parent Governor at the school Grin really pleased with myself as didn't think I'd get it.

Darcie at Nanny's for night the rest of us are bathed and ready for CIN.

NorthernChinchilla · 15/11/2013 20:01

Congratulations on the appointment Queenie- was it an interview process, or voting by a group of teachers/parents? Very sorry about your uncle, how old was he? Hope the rest of your family's OK.

We currently pay £650 per month mortgage, and it's going up to £950 with the new place, but it's bigger, and in a nicer part of a nicer town, so you 'pay' for that as well. I'd worked out we could do it at a pinch, on the understanding I've still got a couple of increments to go, and DS will get some free nursery time at the end of the year, but DP's new job will help. I'll get a 5 year fix at the end of our two year deal too... Lol at the '50s housewife figgy, I would've guessed it would be you doing all the money stuff rather than your DH!

I'm so, so sorry to hear of the nightmare hinky, and can't believe we're all having boiler/radiator/leak horrors. It was bad enough when the bloody DCs communicated by stealth to get us all at the same time, but when our plumbing starts to do so too...Hmm!?!

I'm not great today- something did not agree with me and so had a grim start to the morning. Have been into work with that kicked-in-the-stomach feel and totally off any food. Sitting here in jimmy jammys looking forward to bed.... Sad

QueenofClean · 16/11/2013 07:29

Northern hope your feeling better this morning.

It was a bit of both tbh interview & voting by parents/teachers & other governors. Mahoosive application form went with it too. So pleased as didn't think I'd be one to get it Grin

Tired.com...Sky was awake at 6:15am. Why can't my child sleep in till 8?!

OiMissus · 16/11/2013 07:44

Why did we stay up until 2am catching up on Children In Need? Boi woke at 6:20. YAWN!
Congrats Queenie. Smile
Mortgage. Yes. Mine's a shocker, but the house is mahoosive. More shocking are the energy bills. We really need to get new patio doors and carpets before winter really gets here!

Figgygal · 16/11/2013 09:49

Gah DS woke 3 times last night with his cough the first time I wondered if he'd had a dream as was screaming in utter terror but he also had a temp and the cough. Going he's better today we have 1 of our closest friends 40th bday tonight just meal and drinks as she's pg but we all supposed to be staying at PIL. He seems ok today just wants to watch tv (no change there) might give in a bit more than usual.

Congrats queenie!!

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 16/11/2013 10:56

Oh no, hope DS is better soon figgy and have fun tonight.

Queenie well done on the PG appointment.

Oi I have no idea how you can watch CIN. Stuff like that killed me even before the minipeople arrived. Plus, I see enough of stuff like that at work.

Was my day for a lie in today. Why DH thought it was OK to get out the bouncing zebra I have no idea. I feel like I live with a herd of obese elephants instead of a nearly two year old and slightly thick cat.

OiMissus · 16/11/2013 11:06

I bawled the whole way through. And waited until I was properly upset before I rang with my donation. After a few wines. Shock

Figgygal · 16/11/2013 12:22

It was the 2 brothers with the skin disease I've never seen anything like that before how heartbreaking I was in bits!!

OiMissus · 16/11/2013 14:51

Yep. That was the one. Bawled and bawled and bawled. Sad

Aethelfleda · 16/11/2013 18:22

I am lone parenting tonight, DH has taken DD1 to the footy. Very well wrapped up so I hope she doesn't catch hypothermia!!

My plan is to catch up with the many washings (yay to new machine!) and tidy/organise a bit. Then sit and read when I give up. Currently reading a teenfic book called "Waking Dream" by Rhiannon Lassiter. It's rather fun (think witchy/fantasy type story with a bit of Judy Blume angst thrown in). I love a good read and one of the biggest downs of parenting is the relative lack of "me time". So tonight I shall make a little me time!

mopsytop · 16/11/2013 20:57

Enjoy aethel! A night in reading (wirh maybe a cheeky g&t and\or chocolate) is one of life's loveliest little pleasures!

Figgygal · 17/11/2013 09:08

Gah got to bed at 1.15 DS was up at 2 and then 6 gin and toddlers do not mix!! I'm stinkingly tired today DS not eating well will be glad to get home from PILs and lounge on sofa.

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 17/11/2013 10:23

Congrats queen, sorry to hear about your uncle though :(

DD1 is mostly in 2-3 now.

Hope your feeling better northern and your DS too figgy.

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 17/11/2013 14:26

Xmas shopping for DS is all done! Got the dinosaur toy from ELC for half price, some other plastic dinosaurs from Amazon and some wooden construction vehicles from sainsbury. Scooter plus helmet for birthday all purchased too. Need to pick up stocking fillers, but will head to pound shop for those.

Figgygal · 18/11/2013 07:39

Well I'm not going to work today DS coughing, nose running, has a temp hasn't pooed since Friday so he's now saying poo poo sore so that's something else to worry about. I guess almost 2 yrs before have had to take a day for him might try get away with a half day and work around him this afternoon I expect he will have a long sleep anyway.

Been up pretty much since 3 listening to dh snore while seeing to DS so how am I the one up and he's still in bed with sore eyes? He does have a squint which gets worse when tired I guess. How do u do all this night waking when they little obviously must be more used to the disruption.

Well done on Xmas hop I keep being asked what he wants and I've ran out of ideas. December bday and Xmas are so difficult my patents getting him a toy cd player and dinosaur train set, PIL have the work bench and a dressing gown, sil new bedding and a remote control jcb dump truck we have everything else in the world!!

his new fave is Jessie the cowgirl from Toy story he keeps saying Yeehah and "where's Jessie" he has a 365 disney stories book and flicks through it for toy story stories where he can see her might have to watch toy story 2 today especially if I try to work later.

NorthernChinchilla · 18/11/2013 19:47

Annoyingly didn't get much better- was determined to enjoy being at our friends', but after a couple of glasses of wine and the beautiful homemade curries I was in bed by half 9! Still ill the following day, so slept half of it away in bed or car. Really crap when we so rarely get to see people and I'm not on good form.

DS decided to add to the fun by waking at 4.45am. He repeated the trick this morning. DP was wondering 'laudnum or gin?' at one point and I don't blame him. If he tries it again tomorrow morning he's for sale... How're you feeling now figgy? Hope your DS is on the mend too.

Work has been incredibly stressful today as well, felt sick at some points. I always knew these two weeks would be the worst, but thank Bob for helpful and competent colleagues.

DP got me the new Terry P for my birthday aethel, so have been enjoying that- the Saturday I got it I read 100+ pages in the evening, and it. was. bliss.

Ah well, tomorrow's got to be better!
