OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mopsytop · 18/11/2013 20:30

Oh dear Northern. SO annoying when that happens. Grrr. Hope you feel a lot better soon.

figgy hope baba better today.

Minimopsy has started singing all the words to all the songs we sing (very approximately indeed of course) but is soooooo cute! She has also suddenly got tons more words and is pronouncing her existing words more clearly. I love this stage. Apart from the tantrums!

I'm teaching 7 hours tomorrow plus a one hour meeting. Not looking forward to it Sad

Aethelfleda · 18/11/2013 20:30

I was spammed with a Hotel Chocolat catalogue today (I bought a box or two for choc-loving friends' birthday pressies a few years ago). They are selling boxes of eighteen- twenty chocs for £23..... Do people actually buy this stuff at over a pound a choc? Wasn't there a recession somewhere down the back of the sofa??!!

And sympathies for the work stress northern, no fun at all. I'm guessing you're so super-specialised that you can't find something less consistently grinding? Or maybe negociate a sabbatical to regain your mojo? says the woman whose work is in a state of flux

So, "unfIlth my Habitat" the phone app is now on my phone. Will it make a blind bit of difference? Will I find my fitness motivation again? Is there any chocolate left unmunched in my cupboard? Tune in next time....

OiMissus · 18/11/2013 21:39

Hotel Chocolat...EnvyEnvyEnvy Nom nom nom!! Silly expensive but superbly divine!

BobaFetaCheese · 18/11/2013 22:25

I am a proper chocolate snob. Blush
I love Leonidas (not so keen on Godiva ) but I'll eat the Hotel Chocolat stuff if it's in kitchen.
I find that if I have posh chocolate I only need one or two whereas with the cheaper stuff I can eat an entire bar of Milka.

Bliss for me is a hot bath with smelly stuff, a good book (or trashy magazine) and some chocolate/a hot chocolate. And throw in some sex at some point during the day, perfect!

Northen, how is the new Terry P? I lost interest after Going Postal/Making Money (I found them v.samey), I love the Watch ones.
Aethel your fantasy Judy Blume sounds interesting, will have to look out for that one
Sorry to hear all is crap at work Northen, hope it speeds up and it's the weekend soon enough!

How is DS now Figgy?

Sorry to hear about your uncle Queenie. Thanks

Most nights this week I've gone in to check on the boys and my first thought is 'Holy Crap, I have a son' and then into our bedroom 'Holy crap, I've got two of them'!
Still can't believe we've got kids....anyone else?

Figgygal · 19/11/2013 07:29

Still bad up in the night again, raging temp and cough dh having him today as have to go to work he's very clingy so I'm sure that will not go down well. Yesterday he watched far too much TV I think today will be the same as DH wants to get some work done around him. About five minutes after I gave him some lactulose yesterday we had an unprecedented poo explosion in fact we had 2 so God knows what might come out of him today.

My favourite chocolate is lindt I don't think they're really that posh any more but yum. I've actually gone off chocolate quite a bit the last couple years and now much more into foam sweets like milk bottles there my favourite of anything.

Figgygal · 19/11/2013 07:32

Boba I was in DS room last night wondering where the time has gone. I can't believe he's two and a couple weeks but I can't honestly remember what life was like without him. Now just to work on dh about number two again.

mopsytop · 19/11/2013 07:33

Oh dear figgy. Hope he improves today. I like lindt too, the red one with the kind of cold chocolate in the middle. I also love these bars called zero bars. They also have that kind of cold smooth chocolate in the middle. But you can only get them in Belgium. My dad used bring them back from Brussels when he worked there.

Ugh so tired. Already at work but woke up on the hour every hour last night. WTF? ugh. And have horrible day ahead of seven teaching hours plus meeting. Going to get a massive coffee when the cafe opens at 8.

OiMissus · 19/11/2013 07:35

Most nights I come in and think "holy fuck I've still got a husband!" Anyone else can't believe I haven't murdered him yet?"

Ha ha! Only joking!
Today is our 3rd Anniversary. Holy mother of bliss! We made it this far. There's hope for us yet.

The Boi has been ok since his Beechams adventure. It had no ill affects. Unless that has contributed to his cold, his grumpiness, his dislike of sleep, and his general being a little sod at the moment.
I separated all the medicines and put them all away - they were all over the house.
I also moved all the cleaning stuff from the lower cupboards and put them up out of reach in the utility. We are now baby friendly. Smile
Off to Manchester this morning, and then Copenhagen again tomorrow. Hmm

Aethelfleda · 19/11/2013 12:42

I AM going to have a comfortable, friendly, tidy and clean living space dammit.....

OiMissus · 19/11/2013 17:05

You can have all 4, Aethel. But only for about 4 minutes.

Figgygal · 19/11/2013 17:55

Happy anniversary oi

Aethelfleda · 19/11/2013 18:32

You've met my DC then, oi?

NorthernChinchilla · 19/11/2013 21:28

Ha! So true, Oi, so true. And I know that if I had DS, and no DP, I would have all four maybe not well dusted but life's too short. So glad BOi's OK, I did worry when you said about the Beechams as it sounded like overdose levels for adults! I think you did amazingly not to slam his head repeatedly in the toilet seat for that one...

Work slightly less manic but feeling knackered and planning an early night once more- can't wait to be in the new place and be able to go to bed later and/or get up later. Also can't wait for all this fecking recruitment to be over- it's taken over my life this year, and I am not an HR bod!

I think I'm more like figgy about the kids Boba- I remember being pregnant, and I'd just got my head around that at 5 months, then started doing OMFG now I'm going to have an actual live baby...but as soon as he arrived it's just been (my overused phrase) the new normal. An occasional pang of not being able to just go out of a weekend Wink but that's it.

mopsy, we get a very mangled version of 'incy wincy' repeatedly...he can only do those words, spider, spout, up, and the rest is 'uh uhs', but it is sooooo cute Smile

Aethelfleda · 19/11/2013 22:27

We get twinkle twinkle little star without the words.
"da da da da, Da Da DAAAAAA...."
He also does Peppa pig "Daaaa-Daaa-DA!"
And Swashbuckle "Da-Da, Da Dadadaaaa Da!"
(Followed by an earnest Arrrr!)

His tuning's rather good. I do however suspect that Xiao's DS1 has stolen his vocabulary a la Dorian Gray, as minixiao has lots and lots of full sentences, whereas my DS just points at stuff with monosyllables and signs alternately, little blighter even invents gestures at the moment. "Mum-mum-mum" accompanied by a frantic waving with both hands means "oh for goodness sake, get UP, Mother!" .....

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 19/11/2013 23:39

Sorry to hear DS is still feeling grotty figgy.

DD1 has loads of words and now starting to put up to 3 words together. No sign of joining in with songs except singing row row row all the way through row row row your boat.

Bliss for me is in the kitchen baking whilst listening to radio 2 without children wanting to be picked up and sitting on the worktop. A good book with a glass of prosecco comes a close second though.

I bodged up DD1s Octonauts birthday cake :(. First ever attempt at making Madeira rather than a basic sponge, I cut into it to sandwich the two hemisphere cakes together and it wasn't cooked enough, so annoyed. She's had a sudden transformation into being obsessed with Peppa pig so need to find a Peppa pig cake at short notice tomorrow. I know asda sell one, just hope they have one in stock!

OiMissus · 20/11/2013 08:18

Good luck with the cake!
Boi sings loads, and does pretty well with the words. He does the mr tumble theme tune - "hello hello .. Are yoooou, hello hello see yooooou, hello ... Friends, hello friends, ...all friends!"
Wheels on the bus, jingle bells, incy wincy, and others.
He can pretty much recite almost word perfect, the first page of thegruffalo's child - which is no mean feat! Grin

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 20/11/2013 15:22

We have:
'wiiindin da bobbin, wiind bobbin. Pull. Pull. TAP TAP TAP! Point window point door! Clap 123. SING WIND BOBBIN MUMMY!'

and my favourite:
'polly dolly mummy. POLLY DOLLY' Which he joins in with on the 'call the Dr to come quick quick quick' and 'knocks on the door with a rat-a-tat-tat'.

Oh, and wheels on the bus ALLL DAAAAY LOOOONG!

Figgygal · 20/11/2013 16:04

Gawd DS went back to Cm today he lasted 3 hours before she sent him home as he was clingy and crying and unhappy. He fell asleep on the sofa for about 10 minutes before he coughed himself awake last night for tea he had a poppadom wouldn’t eat anything else today he has had 3 fig rolls and some jelly other than that he just wants bloody yoghurts. This started on Saturday honestly not sure how much longer it can go on he is a right grumpy mess and none of us are sleeping. He is just plonked in front of tv last 3 days while we try to work round him hoping work don’t get shirty about it. I am just soft as apart from the 24hrs he vommed everywhere he has never been ill. DH taken him out in car to get him to sleep as has spent last hour whingeing!!

mopsytop · 20/11/2013 19:58

Hope he is better soon figgy. Sounds exhausting.

I'm wrecked. Sooooooooooo tired. This is my busiest week of the semester.

mopsytop · 20/11/2013 19:59

I'm so tired I don't even feel hungry. This is vanishingly rare for me. Mr. Mopsy is insisting I eat a healthy meal though. Lucky I've him around to keep me sensible.

BobaFetaCheese · 20/11/2013 20:02

I've just noticed Tardis

Figgy, hope he's better soon. Teething?

Did you manage to find a cake seven?

for mopsy, hope you get a decent nights sleep.

No songs here, he can boogie though...and he's started saying Ank Oooo whenever I pass him something. Still no sign of 'Daddy' yet Hmm

Aethelfleda · 20/11/2013 20:48

Wow! They have a TARDIS icon!

Tardis Tardis Tardis Tardis

Though technically it should be capitalised

Ahem. As you were.

NorthernChinchilla · 20/11/2013 21:36

Am too in geek heaven over the Tardis

DS still isn't brilliant with his speech either aethel, we get the odd three word sentence, but not often. I know in a year's time or so I'll wish to heaven/hell that he'd shut up, but I wish he could communicate a bit better now.
Godawful day today, he was set to 'whine' this morning, and this evening he was knackered and I got two! swipes to the face. Great this parenting lark....

Hope you've had a good meal mopsy!

I'm enjoying TP Boba, they'll never be as funny as the earlier ones, but still a great read- Night Watch was my favourite.

Figgygal · 20/11/2013 21:53

Can't wait for dr who on sat either!!

Have DS cold coming on my throat is dry ticklish and generally closing up......poo Hmm

OiMissus · 20/11/2013 22:30

They are in cahoots again. Boi is a real grump at the minute. Crying over nothing and stomping and hitting things. We too are trying the tv as a way to just keep things calm.
He has a cough too. Hmm
In Copenhagen at the minute, til Friday. Would rather "not sleep" at home rather than here!
But I'll give it a go. Goodnight. X
