Ok here is the new thread. Quite impressed that I managed to do this as I usually fail miserably.

Hello everyone. Alice and I are downstairs. She is loving the cat (not sure how much the cat loves it but she is being gentle ).

Making lovely noises of aah aah aah when she sees the cat - very sweet.

Still no moving, but nearly. Maybe I should put the cat just out of reach and see what happens .

mummyhill · 23/07/2006 07:44

Luckily he has a proper cot up in the bedroom, I use the travel cot as a playpen and naps in the garden when the weather allows.

Well whats the forecast for today? Need it to brighten up a bit as we have invited mum, dad, L and Hubby, mil, fil, sil and her dp round for a BBQ this evening.

Hello!

Hope the cot is drying nicely Mummyhill and enjoy the bbq.

We are going to a picnic at Woburn.

Yes I did buy a skirt wabbitt - but it is going back as far too long - also bought some shiny flip flops!

mummyhill · 23/07/2006 21:20

BBQ went well. I over catered as usual and we now have a fridge full of stuff. The kids loved it they have been the centre of attention all night and have been allowed to stay up late.

Gld the BBQ went well mummyhill .

How did the interview go Beatie? What did you wear in the end?

Alice is having full-on clingyness at the moment. I know it is a phase but it can be quite trying (and also very sad when I was dropping her off at nursery this morning when tears poured down her cheeks ).

jaamy · 24/07/2006 14:17

PC - must be something in the water - DD2 is being clingy when DH or I drop her off at nursery recently.
Had terrible shock on Friday - I banged my foot badly on a doorstop on Thrus and so have been hobbling around ever since in a pair of flip flops as they're the only shoes my grotesquely swollen foot will fit into. On Fri I was chasing an uncoperative DD1 around trying to put on a sunhat whilst carrying DD2. In the process, I tripped over the retched flip flops and fell, throping DD2 on the floor, just where the wall of the house meets the floor. There was a terrible bump when she fell but we couldn't find a lump on her anywhere - just a bit of a scrape on one arm. I'd never have forgiven myself if anything had have happened. I was so hysterical that DH had to wrentch DD2 from me to check her out. That's definitely one of her 9 lives gone!
I spoke to soon on Thurs - weather doesn't seem to have cooled down too much though the nights are deiinitely a bit more comfortable.
DD1 and I went to see the Fimbles on Sun morning. One of us had a hangover (wouldn't be fair to say who, but the Fimbles seemed to do the trick!!)
Glad the BBQ went well mummyhill - we always overcater too!
Hope the picnic went well, SR. And how was the wedding? Too much decorating to be done in our house to get out and enjoy the weather, though we did have a nice time at Ikea yesterday!!! Hopefully all will be finished this weekend, which is when the weather is supposed to break, isn't it? Typical!
Wabbitt - hope all dried up there. The midlands always seem to suffer from the extremes of weather.
Has everyone had their 7 month (or whatever it is) HV check? DD2 is 9 months 2 weeks and no sign of an appt.
Hope all ok.

mummyhill · 24/07/2006 15:34

they don't do develpomental checks here anymore as apparently no one was taking their children to them.

Both children are having a heat induced afternoon nap and I am sitting here eating water melon.

jaamy · 24/07/2006 16:26

ooooh, mummyhill, could you fire some watermelon in the direction of my hot sticky office, please! Enjoy your peace and quiet!

wabbitt · 24/07/2006 21:54

Mummyhill - glad the weather got better and your bbq went really well.

PC - that Alice is crying as you leave, it must be soooo difficult. Conrad is just showing signs of clingyness, when he's tired he'll cry if I leave the room and had started to cry as Nandy left for school in a morning... thank goodness she's on holiday.

SR - the skirt is too long, it's typical isn't it?

Beatie - how did the interview go?

Jaamy - all dry now, but the weather's just as hot again and baking everything in the garden.

Does anyone have a cure for gloomy bad moods? I've felt like this (and it's not like me at all) since Friday when ExP came up to take me and C out for lunch and buy a forward facing car seat.

I just seem to be in the doldrums... in an attempt to get shot of it - and make me feel happier with my figure, I've started a Carb detox. only eating Brown rice as a Carb. No Caffine, alcohol, refined sugars, wheat, oats, potatoes, salt etc.

I'll have to tell you if it works

I'm doing a mad de-clutter of all the clothes we don't wear anymore.

Think it might be all part of the same sense that I need to purge.

My replacement basin arrived today (at last) just need it fitted and the bathroom's back in one piece!

Sorry, I'm waffling, feeling a bit sorry for myself

Simplyred · 24/07/2006 21:57

Hello!

Picnic was very good - and ds and dd have been a delight today - played nicely together and no screaming etc....long may it continue. Ds has his first wobbly tooth! just as dd is getting all hers!!!

mummyhill · 25/07/2006 11:09

D has his second tooth.

PiccadillyCircus · 25/07/2006 12:59

Congratulations .

I went out last night - discovered someone at work was having a leaving do and as DH was getting the children anyway, decided to capitalise on it.

It was great fun - just feel a little er tired today .

mummyhill · 25/07/2006 21:05

Having a shit night with DS am assuming this means more teeth on their way through. He is sitting watching tv atm as I can't get him to settle. Have dosed him with ibuprofen, and liberaly soothed gums with bonjela but he won't let me out of his sight. Am nervous about puting him back upstairs as he keeps waking DD.

beatie · 26/07/2006 09:32

hi everyone, sorry not to check in sooner. We've been getting sorted for the holiday. We leave on Saturday.

The interview wasn't my best. I was woefully underprpared, and didn't have many positive thoughts upon leaving. I'll find out soon. It's a shame because I would actually take the job if offered to me. I started to get a bit excited about having a place of work again even though I am mostly happy being a SAHM for the infant years.

I'm still up for the 18th. Who else is? I will CAT you if you are so you have my email address. I found one place near Windsor

Royal Landscape It costs £5 for an adult to get in though. Free for children

I'm sure there must be some other places. Will people be coming by car?

PiccadillyCircus · 26/07/2006 10:08

We still want to come on the 18th .

Why is it soooo humid today? So much rain overnight and it's still all in the air.

PiccadillyCircus · 26/07/2006 10:08

We'll be coming by car by the way

PiccadillyCircus · 26/07/2006 14:06

Shameless bump to guide you to a picture of Alice .

jaamy · 26/07/2006 15:36

Sorry will miss your meet up in Windsor...very .
DD2 pulled herself up to standing today. Was soooo chuffed with herself!!! Won't be long till she's cruising...then walking...then running...then getting married...before you know it I'll be postin on grandmumsnet! LOL!!!

mummyhill · 26/07/2006 16:55

jaamy that is a truly scary thought.

Simplyred · 26/07/2006 20:01

Hello!

Rachel is spitting out her food - she is happy to eat finger food but anything I feed her is rejected! Any one elses little people doing this?

Feeling hot hot hot! 18th Aug good with me - I'll drive - I think!

ych · 26/07/2006 20:47

Hi all, we're melting in the heat up here, last night was really bad, there's a bit more of a breeze tonight but still have every door and window in the house open. Poor DS is constantly hot and bothered. Got him weighed last week and he is 27lb 12oz! We also bought a forward facing car seat at the weekend. He pulled himself onto his feet for the first time the other day, I feel like you Jaamy, he's reaching all the stages so fast, I don't know where the time is going.
Simplyred - Joel is exactly the same, he has also started spitting out his food. He then tries to eat it with his fingers and it just ends up all over the floor and him. I was getting worried about it earlier as he's not eating but he doesnt seem bothered. He eats every 2nd or 3rd spoonful. Although going by his weight he's not going to waste away to nothing!
Is anyone any good with putting up swings? My friend gave us her DD's old one, without screws or instructions - there are too many bits to it, it's like the Krypton Factor, she lives in Spain so cant help me put it up. It's so annoying, I feel like it's beaten me!

wabbitt · 26/07/2006 20:59

Oh it's not just me feeling the humidity today? Couldn't believe how hot I got on my walk today, really unappealingly sweaty

18th great for me we just need to mark the spot as it were.

hope it feels a bit fresher tomorrow.

wabbitt · 26/07/2006 21:02

Oh, SR - no spitting food out here, but he'll fetch food he dislikes out of his mouth (My lovely fish pie ) if he's takes a dislike. He is demanding to take control of the spoon towards the end of a meal and loves to feed himself finger foods best.

PC - Alice is gorgeous

Sallie · 26/07/2006 23:49

A big hello to you all! Haven't been able to read up on all thats been happening but hope things are going ok. Busy few months for me, relationship with dh still a bit wobbly but hanging on in there. Looking forward to dd2's first birthday. She is now walking with the aid of a walker and is very very active indeed.

jaamy · 26/07/2006 23:54

Oh Sallie - I have been asking after you on and off on here for a while. Glad you are ok and hope DD2 is thriving. Sorry to hear it's still a struggle with DH. HOpe the little ones make up for it. Take care and pop in to see us now and then. x
