As I so frivolously finished the last thread, I thought I'd better start a new one. Go!

Ugh apologies for use of the word blankey...

glorious · 27/10/2013 04:55

Yay for DD1 birdies and boo to windows apples and grinding teeth. No teeth to grind yet here but some impressive bumps so I don't think it'll be long.

Mum's skin issue is fine Grin One down one to go.

Ellen is asleep but I'm awake Confused

Anyone seen bunty ? Hope she's ok.

salt1 · 27/10/2013 05:22

glad dd1 is ok birdies. hope water situation is better apples. teeth grinding yuk but no teeth here perhaps some coming as been up for 2hours crying and shitting. even woke dp x

LetThereBeCupcakes · 27/10/2013 05:52

Birdies Fantastic news for DD1 and glorious great news about your mum. Apple hope the landlord fixes the leak promptly. Are you likely to get caught in the storms predicted for the next few days? salt that must be pretty bad - of your DP is anything like mine an atomic bomb wouldn't wake him! Hope you're all OK.

Lora so far we've got a Scout Toy (paid for with nectar points), Toot Toot Drivers set (paid for with voucher), some books, stacking rings, and some cars. Need to get a few stocking fillers - mostly bath stuff really. I'm also making the stocking, as well as a stuffed elephant. Really must get on with it!

Resisting the temptation to google baby gravy...

Does anybody know how to explain Daylight Savings to a 9-month old?

Meringue33 · 27/10/2013 09:02

God Pascha glad DS1 is home safe. Good news about your mum too, Glorious.

Love the slide. Where would you put it - the garden?? They have one like that at the feral mums & tots group I've started going to.

I was thinking about this or this for Christmas.

I saw Bunty on the bf threads this morning, so she is around!

Pascha · 27/10/2013 09:35

The blocks thing is good. We have a similar ride-on type thing from DS1's first birthday (Wilson from Chuggington actually) and we have races now with DS1 on his little scooter thing and me holding Dan on Wilson and beeping the horn chasinig round and round the kitchen Grin

Must dig a picture up of him on it.

I dunno really about the climbing frame thingy - if you have space indoors then it would be perfect, otherwise, good to keep for the garden in the spring/summer. DS1 had a folding plastic slide from someone which was good for indoors in the winter as it was easily tucked away. It still gets good use.

Christmas is pretty much covered for us with the vtech walker and some WOW cars and bits. DS1's stocking is filling up nicely. He's 3 so the first year he really has an idea. I've got foam gliders, a slinky and a whoopee cushion to go in as well as some chocolate coins and Cars moccassins.

I just love stockings. It was always the best bit for me on christmas morning seeing it on the end of my bed. All the tat is so exciting at 4am Smile

Lora1982 · 27/10/2013 20:01

Ooh ive demanded told mum about the toot toot cars, he like them.

Dogs taken a dislike to him crawling, not sure what to do. He growled and went to his box the other day but tonight he like nudged him on the arse

AppleCrumples · 27/10/2013 21:38

cupcakes looks like we will be getting some of this storm early tomorrow :( it was a sudden massive downpour last night that produced the leak dp thinks some lead come up on roof as if i have any idea what that means Feel like i am constantly calling agency as something else breaks :(

lora already got Ivy some toot toot cars for her birthday,am busting to play with them myself Blush

For xmas have got her building blocks which i had to wrestle off my older dcpuzzles and aquadoodle. She doesn't need much as she is happy to play with her siblings. If they sit on the floor for long enough she uses them to pull up. Its so cute!

Anyone elses baby find today hard? The clocks may have changed but no one told Ivy..she was a nightmare after 5.30 and in bed by 6.15 as she hadn't slept since 12

Lora1982 · 27/10/2013 22:19

Same h,awake at 5.30 slept for twenty minutes after boob at 8 slept at 10 but NOTHING again til 7

AppleCrumples · 27/10/2013 22:42

Grr shes just been up crying, normally i am safe til at least 2 :(

Managed to get her back down without a boob though..so thats something... Hmm

Meringue33 · 28/10/2013 07:25

Slept 7.30-4.45 which is pretty good... Won't go back to sleep though!!!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 28/10/2013 07:59

Apple we also had a nightmare day yesterday - naps and feeds all over the place. He wasn't even in sync with his routine on BST Hmm. Seems OK today though - only 2 wake ups in the night and up for the day at 6am like normal.

Lora Have you tried doing some positive reward based training with your dog? Whenever your DS is crawling around randomly give the dog a treat (or a piece of kibble from his daily ration if you're worried about weight). Make sure you don't treat him if he growls. The worst thing you could do is tell him off for growling - dogs do a very set routine when concerned about something: Freeze, Growl, Snap, Bite. Humans find the Freeze hard to spot so the first thing we usually see is Growl. If you do anything to stop the growl (aside from teaching him not to be afraid), he may well go straight to Snap, which is obviously not good. Do anything you can to make your DS crawling a positive experience for your dog, and make sure DS doesn't antagonise him. (sorry - dog trainer here!)

Are we not supposed to play with check the toys before giving them to our DCs? Would be a tragedy if they opened them on Christmas Day and they didn't work!

lollipoppi · 28/10/2013 09:13

Good new for your DD birdies and your mum glorious!
Apple sorry about your leak hope they get it sorted soon!

We had DS1 bday party yesterday, he had a fab time but is defo all birthdayed out now and very tired and grumpy today.

Horrible night last night, DD was up screaming twice and DS1 was up twice too Confused

Highlight of my day so far ..... Dd has done her first solid poo in 3 weeks! Whoop Grin

Tugstonia · 28/10/2013 09:35

Morning all. Yes we're all screwed up here too because of daylight savings... DD did sleep from 6pm to 5.30am though so that's a good run. The previous few nights she's been a nightmare. She has a streaming nose and phlegmmy cough the poor lamb. And she's constipated so we've been feeding her prunes - no sign of any poo yet though. Yay Lolli on your DD's solid poo!

Great news about your mum Glorious and your DD1 Birdies! :) Apples hope the landlord can sort out your leak v soon.

Here in S London there's not much sign of the storm. Any of you ladies affected by the storm? It's a bit windy, but I'm not sure it warrants shutting down the entire transport system... DP is 'working from home' today because he can't get to work. Hope we don't drive each other mad!

mrsbugsywugsy · 28/10/2013 10:01

Lolli 3weeks Halloween Shock

Stormy night here. Dd kept waking, I think because of the wind as her room faces south west and was very noisy. Brought her in with us when we went to bed and all snuggled up including the cat

Dd has worked out that she can stand if she holds onto the furniture but can't quite pull herself up yet, so every time she falls back down I have to go and help her back up again. Not very conducive to me getting anything else done today.

lollipoppi · 28/10/2013 10:43

3 long.smelly.disgusting.weeks indeed! Confused

We seemed to have escaped the storms, it's just raining lots!

glorious · 28/10/2013 12:57

We have a large bit of tree down in our garden in SE London (not our tree).

DH has either pleurisy or a pulmonary embolism (tests in progress) Sad

Thanks for good wishes on my mum. Still waiting to hear on breast issue.

HV told me 4 feeds a day was too much (DD not quite 9mo). Pretty sure the advice is still to feed on demand, and of course milk should still be her main source of nutrition. I just smiled and nodded as I was too tired to argue but it's annoying they are often so ill informed.

Sorry, bit of a glum one.

Angielka · 28/10/2013 13:14

Oh glorious Sad things happen in threes so that's DH, Mum and stupid HV. Fingers crossed on the run of bad luck to stop now... I give Molly 5 feeds still sometimes if she wants it plus one or two at night if pushed and nothing anyone could say would make me change that apart from the night feeds, I'm pulling the plug on that soon

Yay for solid poo lolli Grin

Bugsy Molly pulls herself up and loves standing. I'm sure DD will pull herself up soon and let you get on with other things soon. Put her favourite toy on the sofa; she'll soon get the hang of it Wink

Hope the messed up body clocks sort themselves out soon. I had both girls awake and ready to get up at 5 this morning, but somehow managed to convince DD1 to go back to bed and brought Molly in with us where she slept until 7.30am. Might not have been able to face the day otherwise.

CreepyCrawly · 28/10/2013 16:58

I hope the leak is sorted for you soon apple, what a pain.

glorious, I hope DH and DM are alright. Nancy has about 5 feeds most days and that seems to be the norm for their ages.

Nancy's started doing little hand actions for Twinkle Twinkle, the cutest thing. I also love how much she loves her lamb that she sleeps with (sometimes draped over her face).

Haven't made much of a start on Christmas yet, have got a book and matching cuddly toy from jellycat though. Toot toot cars look fab!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 28/10/2013 19:06

Still feeding on demand here too, DS has three good meals a day plus usually 4 bfs (and still a couple in the night, though this is decreasing now we're sorting the reflux). I smile and nod to what most of the HV says.

glorious do you know how long until you get results back for your DH and DM? Thinking of you.

Not much storm action here, really. I did see a slightly wonky telegraph pole this afternoon though.

I have just booked my first evening out since DS was born - off to the theatre with a friend. I'm stupidly excited but also slightly terrified by the thought as DH will probably have to put DS to bed - not something he's done before. What are the chances that I'll come home and find DS still awake?

DS has learned to wave and click his tongue today. I think we need a video of Nancy doing Twinkle Twinkle so I can see what the actions are.

Lora1982 · 28/10/2013 22:29

Thanks cupcakes I'll start the reward whilst he's moving tomorrow, I started giving him more fuss incase it was jealousy and I give him treats while he waits for dexters biscuit to fall on the floor so he associates good times round the baby.

Its odd I realised he was avoiding him but was ok with him playing fetch and tug of war. Its almost as if he thinks he's more dominant than the baby because today we were saying 'errrrm' when dexter was touching something I didnt want him to and the dog reacted how he does when I say errrm to the cat, he came running in with an im here to sort it out face but he stopped before he got to dexter when we shouted him to leave thank god. Im going to be honest n say ive not done his walks so im going to make an effort to slot them in when I send dexter for his nap at ten so that should help too.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 29/10/2013 08:49

Lora depending on the breed and the individual dog it's often mental stimulation they need more than physical (though they will need some exercise!). If we can't get out for a walk a good training session usually wears my two out just as much - if not more so. I usually sit on the floor with a pocket full of treats, DS on his mat with his toys and run through tricks with the dogs. I've also taught DDog 1 to help with the housework (eg unload washing machine, bring laundry from bedroom to kitchen etc) so it's actually a help. The dogs love it and it keeps them entertained. Usually when a dog growls at a crawling baby it's due to fear so keep on with the treats and I'm sure it'll be fine. Dominance theory has been widely discredited in dog training now so it's probably not that. I'll stop now before I bore you all with my dog behaviour soap-boxiness.

Awful night here last night - DH was really late home from work so couldn't help me give DS his gaviscon. Thought I'd managed to get enough into him (though the fact I had to completely change his vest and sleepsuit probably should have hinted that I didn't). Of course he woke up screaming a few hours later and the screaming continued long through the night -even after DH and I re-dosed him. I wonder if he was just really distressed that he thought the pain was over and suddenly it was back - he was really bad last night :( . Ended up bunking down with him and eventually got a few hours sleep but planning a nice easy day today.

I found some really lovely star shaped building blocks online last night and now I can't find them again. Wanted them for Christmas for DS. Hmph.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 29/10/2013 11:31

Yes that sort of thing! Sure I found them for £5 last night though. Must keep looking!

I've been sitting here freezing my bottom off all morning wondering why, and just realised my lovely DH left the front door open when he went to work this morning. Didn't notice as the door into the porch was shut.
