Got a really poorly baby. Been crying non stop since 4.30am. Calpol hasn't helped. Breakfast has been vommed back up and he is never sick. Temp is ok at 36.9 but he is inconsolable. He had nappy rash yesterday so possibly teeth. Maybe Calpol and the crying made him sick? I feel so clueless and helpless. Have had to cancel my driving lesson as there is no way I can leave him. He won't be put down. What should I be doing?

Brockle · 23/10/2013 08:15

yes to pointing and if I point back he laughs his head off. I have no idea why. Smile Smile

we have steps! just two or three at a time but he finds it hilarious. he practised for about twenty minutes by himself and then gives up for the rest of the day!

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:29

Chasing you are doing very well x it does sound like teeth. Give calpol every six hours and give him lots of cuddles. Try to distract him in play. Do not worry about solids or even formula. So long as he is drinking plenty, at his age he will be fine, but do give solids or formula if he seems to want it. You can also give burden every 8 hours. You can give it more frequently but it is then easy to give too much in a 24 hour period, or run out of doses in a 24 hour period. I give alternate doses of calpol and brufen, writing it all down, if temp is high or in screaming pain. Keep an eye on temp and nappies. He must be weeing. If not then you would need to contact Dr. Plus use teething gel etc. Worth checking his mouth when you can in case it is thrush not teeth.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:29

Brufen not fucking burden

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:32

Not noticed pointing here. I have noticed something interesting though - whenever he plays with a mixing bowl or cereal bowl, even though it is clean, he wipes the inside with his finger and licks it. Over and over again. I guess it is just mimicking behaviour. Very sweet though.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:35

Off work again. I cannot function when I am this tired and J is still not awake. Nursery would not take him. Another row with DH this morning. It is the stress of all this combined with him being a lazy fucker. I asked him to be 10 mins late for work so he could take DD to school. He is on a shadowing shift so no biggie. He was furious saying he needed to ask a favour of someone he hardly knows. No fuckface you need to prioritise your family and help your wife. I could happily tell him to fuck off and never come back today.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:36

I am channeling my inner quiche. Can you tell Grin ( is that a grin? Do I still have smilie issues?)

YellowWellies · 23/10/2013 08:45

The birthday highlight thus far is excitedly chasing the hoover laughing his socks off. Its a rare sight in our house - clearly!

PetiteRaleuse · 23/10/2013 08:48

It's a grin :) Sorry you are having a shit time.

chasing as vq says you are doing everything right. Teething can make them feel hot, even if they don't hve a temperature, it's sore and they can be a bit pukey due to all the extra saliva. The production of so much saliva also dehydrates them so all you can do is keep offering water. I would out out some food on your coffee table or similar so he can help himself if he likes. Somthing yum and chewable. Like that you know you are offering food and that if he doesn't want it he just genuinely doesn't feel like it.

LO woke up this morning as if this last night didn't happen. Excellent mood, and even waved me off at nursery with a grin.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/10/2013 08:48

Happy birthday mini yw

Enjoy it, hope the cake worked out ok.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 08:59

Happy birthday miniwellies x

Glad LO is ok PR. J is awake and it is very apparent that last night happened. I think it is mainly teeth today as he is trying to pull his gum out. Same place each time. I must say it is not fun trying to get painkillers, omeprazole and antibiotics into a baby prone to vomiting. It is like playing buckaroo.

Brockle · 23/10/2013 09:05

babies would lead very charmed lives if they didn't have to grow fecking teeth.

happy birthday little yw

I am feeling quite nostalgic with all these birthdays. though not sure why I feel nostalgic about being fat, bored and wishing for a new pair of hips Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 23/10/2013 09:07

Happy birthday to Jonas. Hope he has a fun day.

Just sent the boys off to nursery. Please please please let O be ok.

I am feeling emotional about his first birthday coming up. I suppose as I know he is my last and he will be exiting babyhood stage v soon. And that' sit. No more babies in this house. Sad

chasing a day inside lots of cuddles fluids and calpol/brufen. You are right to cancel your lesson. Xx

Right off on my errands sans children.

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 09:12

Thank you all. Have just got him down for a nap. He is dribbling like a good un and is very snotty. He is just getting over a cold as we'll so think it is a combination of that and teeth. Poor sod. A cosy mummy and Oscar day it is.

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 09:15

Happy Birthday Jonas! Grin

PurplePidjOrTreatin · 23/10/2013 09:24

Happy birthday MiniWellies

VQ

MissMummy1 · 23/10/2013 09:38

Hugs VQ

Happy birthday Jonas !!

Chasing what vq said. Poor o Sad

It was dp's birthday yesterday and we had friends round last night for birthday drinks. I am ridic hungover on 2 glasses of wine. Blush

Off to view a nursery today,it is the one I really want her to go to so fx'd!!!

M points at everything including strangers with her 'matilda finger' . Joining it onto mine and making a bzzzz noise is the best game ever Hmm

I also caught her teething on my coffee table yesterday. I was about to give the dog a big row for a grinding wood noise until I realised it was her Confused

I took the man who presents Coast out on my boat once....

Pikz · 23/10/2013 09:55

Happy birthday mini wellies!!!

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 10:05

Right, I'm skint. Scarily so. Just had to ask XP for more money for Oscar as £20/week just isn't cutting it. I have a jumperoo to sell. Where is the best place to try and sell it? And what sort of price am I looking at? Full working order etc

BigPigLittlePig · 23/10/2013 10:13

Fucking teeth can do one here too.

VQ part of my absence from the quiche was due to being v down after making my first big mistake at work, thanks to being day 9 in a row, with a sleep dodging baby. Have been averaging 5 hours sleep a night Sad. Prescribed the wrong insulin - although not 100% my fault, it was a big bit my fault and it is lucky no harm came from it.

Chasing hope O is feeling better soon. I think I see jumperoos for around £40 second hand? SOmeone wiser might be along soon. But facebook selling sites and gumtree better I would think.

Happy birthday miniwellies - hope he has loads of fun.

Day off with the teething sleep dodger. Am still in PJs Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/10/2013 10:19

Big happy birthday to little wellies. Hope j has a fab day.

Yes yes to pointing. Also got the ET thing going on here too sophia. Me touching E's finger and saying ET phone home is hilarious apparently. She points at everything and anything. Tis very cute.

chasing amazon keep lowering the price of the jumperoo to £53 so I think at the mo you'd struggle to get more than £30 for it. Have a look and see what they're going for on eBay at the mo. not sure if that is best place to sell though. det may have more of an idea. Glad you've asked xp for more funds. Hope O is better soon.

E wasn't sick last night for the first time in over a week so I hope whatever that was has fucked off. Got the SALT appt today so will hopefully give me more of an idea as to why E can't eat lumps.

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/10/2013 10:29

chasing bplp is right, they seem to be going for £40 ish on eBay and asking price on gum tree is between £30-£45 so you should be ok.

bplp enjoy your day off. We are still in pj's here too. I was going to go a local playground but decided to have a slobbing around morning instead.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/10/2013 10:36

chasing would it be worth sticking a picture/ ad up in your local children's centre wherever they have nct or baby groups? Local Facebook sites? I would advise against ebay for the commission and postage and crappy no pay buyers not you Detective

Good for you for asking for more money from XP. Little by little some costs O-related will go down. Formula for example and nappies in a year or so.

pig sympathies to you on your mistake. No harm was done but I can well imagine the feeling in your tummy when you realised. No doubt the first of many though - doctors are human too and at least you now know that forever more, throughout your entire career, will you ever make the same one again.

applepieinthesky · 23/10/2013 11:22

chasing try Gumtree. I have sold stuff on there before with no problems. Also because it's local people will come and collect and you don't need to worry about postage. Or local Facebook selling pages?

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 11:58

He's just been sick again so he hasn't actually kept down anything today. This can't be teething can it? Do I need to worry?
