sorry katz still i think competence wins in the end and like you mentioned there is a lot to be said for the right timing, one door closes another one opens
now go get yourself a drink

teabelly · 10/07/2006 21:28

Oh Katz - I agree with Trib and SFX ... hope you're enjoying your drink!!

EYM - I think definites for Zoo are;

Katz et al,
Trib, ds & dh
Me et al
You, Willy and dh...

Not sure about anyone else...

Giddy on hols, SFX has inlaws over, Muma has a wedding, 2Happy sadly can't come either, I guess it's too far to expect Lummox from France

Possibles;

Lua ??
Uwila & Welshmum if they rememeber??
Bresha??
KVG ??
Scraggy ??
Gwenynbee ??
And anyone else I can convince that it'll be a fab day not to be missed

sfxmum · 10/07/2006 21:57

hi all. looks like we might make it to the zoo after all! we will definitely be in the UK that weekend, so I'm trying to work out the logistics. am v excited.

hope everyone is well. i'm still feeling a bit sicky and tired, but much better than i was. by zoo time i should be in the second trimester. can't wait.

katz - sorry about the job. hope you got the books ok.

teabelly · 11/07/2006 09:25

SFX / Lummox FAB!! this is great - I was starting to feel very guilty being the only confirmed southener making all these northern families traipse down to London just to meet us!

lummox - i completely forgot to thank you for the books, they are fantastic - DH has just got to work out the words so he can read it to her!

Giddy - not trying to rub it in - just trying to make any lurkers guilt ridden if they don't turn up without having a very good excuse!

Now sweetie repeat after me 'I am not a bad mummy' - repeat as often as necessary - hey we all feel relief at times that are inappropriate. We all really love having someone around and yet feel immense relief when they go home...or maybe that's just me and my mum! Anyway - just don't beat yourself up for being human

Ooh ooh ooh! (That's my chimp impression for giddy).

After we went to the sleep clinic last week, I've been waiting for someone from Bupa to phone me to make an appointment to get a CPAP machine. I called the consultant's secretary yesterday to see if I could get the name of the person I needed to speak to but she's on holiday and the person filling in had no idea what I was talking about. Fortunately after some persuasion she agreed to leave a note for the consultant asking him to call me.

He did - this morning! What a gem. (This is the same clinic that let dh and me go first when we arrived last week as ds was kicking off a bit). Anyway, phoned Bupa and we can be seen THIS AFTERNOON!!

With scant regard for the fact I actually have a meeting this afternoon I instantly agreed - just as well as the meeting has been postponed I've just found out.

Yay!

teabelly · 12/07/2006 09:51

Great news Trib ...and nothing quite like a screaming child to help things move along abit faster!

Had the cutest thing last night, ds was eating his tea, and dd (ever on the scrounge) sidled up to him until she was all but sitting on his lap, and then ds fed both of them...'one for Lukie...one for Amber...one for...' bless why is it you never have a camera at these moments? Of course ds probably won't repeat the exercise, as dd had more of his tea than he did, and I could hear the rumbling of his tummy as he went off to bed!

muma3 · 12/07/2006 09:51

teabelly · 12/07/2006 12:39

Muma - now that should have read 'its my birthday and im getting plastered' surely this would be better HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

sfxmum · 12/07/2006 18:58

happy birthday muma

tribpot · 12/07/2006 19:51

Back from hospital, dh in possession of CPAP machine (you can see in his eyes: "oh goody, another gadget FOR ME" ) He did a ten min trial in the hospital and says he felt better just after that .... who knows what tomorrow might bring!

katzg · 12/07/2006 19:53

as a scientist i should know what a CPAP machine but i don't, what does it do?

OP posts:
tribpot · 12/07/2006 20:06

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure - or "makes daddy look like an elephant" as I explained to ds this avo!

sfxmum · 12/07/2006 20:48

hi again had a minute to catch up with MN, apparently missed hot boob debate offline allday oh dear!
lovely to be off this week been out with dd a lot mostly feeding ducks. among other things she now says duck, geese, bread, mummy, daddy, book and most recently boob i really should not have taught her that one.

congrats on the walking muma, dd seems on the brink that should be fun.

trib - hope the contraption gives you both more peaceful nights, or at least quieter, can you play spaceman or something?

i came across a lovely recipe for brownies, be great for our picnic at the zoo

hope you all well and giddy nobody loves their children so much that they are not relieved when they finaly are asleep or off their hands for a while, you are fab of course

hi all, long time no catch up. Hope you and your little gems all are well!!!
I'm slightly of your meet up at london zoo, it sounds really fab, however I couldn't make it even at short notice as my db is getting married that weekend, which I'm really excited about. You have a lovely time!!!

I've clearly got the slow member of the group, DS can walk with a stroller but not unaided and the only word i've got out of him so far is "hiya". No matter how many times DH and I diligently and patiently say, "hello" (with lots of stressed pronounciation), we still get lots of "hiyas". The only sure way I can beat you all in the competitive mum stakes is DS's frighteningly huge appetite. Like parents, like son

take care all you junies....

sfxmum · 12/07/2006 21:41

oh giddy i hope you have a nice week away. i really don't think they should be calling you with so many details, i don't, i keep parents informed and all but but some times you need to give them room to breathe.
sure things be ok hope they have proper regular reviews and that they involve you appropriately
take care.

hi jonah nice to se you

teabelly · 12/07/2006 22:48

Giddy give us a hug! It's quite normal to think we'll do something awful to someone else when they're pushing our buttons, or we're tired and emotional, well at least I hope it it because I quite regularly have dolly daydreams about shaking my mother til her head falls off when she annoys me I love her to bits but at times I think how much easier my life wold be if my brother and sister were able to deal with her, and I'm sure that's kinda how you feel - but obviously not about my mum...or my sis, or bro, he he he...anyway I'm waffling but your not alone and you just confess whatever to us...obviously if it's juicy and salacious we'll take more notice... Have a good holiday sweetie - and remember to enjoy it !!

Jonah - he he he dd doesn't say that much either, but hiya is one of her fav's and in the competitiveness stakes I'm sure my dd would give your ds a run for his money with regards to eating (see note below about eating most of her brother's tea - and it was curry and rice, not a little kiddy dinner like beans on toast !)

Trib - I have a fab image of your dh now! Hope it all helps

tribpot · 13/07/2006 05:56

Complete failure on the sleep front, it dried dh's sinuses out completely and hence it was impossible to sleep either with the mask or without. Oh well, this often is a process of trying things out to find the right mask etc., so all hope is not yet lost.

giddy - so sorry to hear about dd1. Surely her care home should be dealing with things like the fact she won't get into a taxi?

sfxmum · 13/07/2006 12:10

hi there
am i the only one whose dd is firmly moving to just one nap a day?
this child never slept much anyway, bet it all changes in her teens {sigh}

gosh isn't the zoo meet up near now?
(mother in law - so what time are you likely to be home from that outing? who aare these people? you don't even know them?)
you axe murdering lot maybe am enjoing mil displeasure too much
