Sorry, I know it's not sweary Wednesday but teething pain can just fuck right off to the far side of fuck.

90 mins sleep here so far. Just. Want. To. Cry.

Pikz · 04/10/2013 03:31

Oh miss laugh I'm sorry Hmm

We have had 30 mins of screaming here. Dp currently pacing landing.

Lily311 · 04/10/2013 05:25

It's 6.25 here and she has just woken up. O slept from 7-6.25. Welcome back little girl, welcome back sleep.

Lily311 · 04/10/2013 05:39

pidj I think I missed it but did you found a job? Reading the thread sleep deprived is not on...

I manage 4 properties part time. Of course one of the tenants gave notice yest and I'm just about to go on holiday for 2 weeks. I'm not happy but I guess that's life.

ChasingDaisy · 04/10/2013 07:01

Oh I'm so pleased for you Lily

StuntNun · 04/10/2013 07:06

Are there any quichette teachers with a knowledge of SN squints hopefully in Pass's direction? DH and I have had concerns that DS2 is dyslexic for the past couple of years. Now he is in his third year of primary he is really struggling with his literacy and reading. He is the oldest in his class and is flying through the numeracy work but he is lagging behind the remedial reading group, two of whom are nearly a year younger than him (he's July, they're June). Anyway I went into the school to discuss things with his teacher and she said she 'shares my concerns' but they're only 'allowed' to refer one child a year for SN assessment and there are three other children in the school who are ahead of DS2 in the queue for assessment. I can't understand why they would only be allowed to refer one child a year, I assume it is a budgetary constraint the school has set for itself. I'm annoyed that they're saying there are children ahead of him in the queue when we've spent the last two years saying he's struggling with literacy, could he have dyslexia. It took him eight months to learn the word 'the'. It was heartbreaking, every single reading book we would have to teach him 'the' and it would be on every page, then the next book we would have to do it again. I think we'll have to try and get a private assessment done but I have no clue how to arrange that, with DS1 the school referred him for his ADHD assessment and the ASD assessment came from the SN support team after he was already statemented. It's so hard to see your LO struggling and have the school saying no everything's fine with the implication that he just isn't that bright.

stunt I thinks fuss should be made. I will ask my SIL today she is a teacher in NI. Seems ludicrous.

Good job O. Bet your feel more ready for the day lily

The school in our village has just had Ofsted and have come out as satisfactory. All the teachers are devastated I know they worked really and to prep for it and expected better. Should I be worried? dS1 will start in nursery there next sept. I am half thinking, they seem like a conscientious bunch perhaps now they will be pulling all the stops out and it will be a good time to be starting there. But half of me thinks should I look elsewhere. The DN s seem to have come on well there. I just want the best I can get for the boys.

Frumpy day today, hopefully to have a Miracle change for tonight as is date night!

Passmethecrisps · 04/10/2013 07:36

Quicky reply for stunt. That sounds like a disgraceful and potentially discriminatory policy. I am usually very wary of criticising other schools and teachers but this practice seems guaranteed to cause many children significant problems. Here a teacher could refer to the an SN teacher who would be able to identify dyslexic tendencies and start in motion support. It shouldn't need to be a massive issue - so many children are dyslexic I find it astonishing that they only seek to 'diagnose' one a year.

You can get private testing done for about £100 I think. I read a private report recently and it was incredibly detailed - probably more than was necessary but very impressive.

When I get to work I will have a poke about primary stuff and get back to you.

Passmethecrisps · 04/10/2013 07:37

And sophia I wouldn't worry too much. Read the detail of the report but there can be lots if reasons for a lower than expected report

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/10/2013 08:04

pass I will when it comes out my sensible head tells me there is more to a school than the report.........

Off to dive In to the washing pile.....

PetiteRaleuse · 04/10/2013 08:06

Morning quiche.

pikz two months is more than enough for lo to settle. LO took 5-6 weeks, still cries at drop off but loves it the rest of the time. You'll get there.

No SN knowledge but that sounds ridiculous, complain.

lily what a pita. Hope you manage to sort it out.

sophia a satisfactory rating wouldn't bother me depending on what was in the report. So glad we don't have ofsted here. ALL children go to their nearest school, and all villages have one, however small. Ofsted doesn't exist.

PurplePidjin · 04/10/2013 08:23

lily I'm a youth worker, work Thursday night plus ad hoc evenings for a different town. I've worked every evening this week plus dp is now full time in his new job so I'm suddenly in charge of everything! lazy arse has had a shock to the system

Stunt that's bollocks and quite possibly illegal. Go to the head and governors and demand Statutory Assessment Angry

Sophia Ofsted is bollocks. Do you like the school, are the pupils happy, is the work differentiated, are the facilities good - both scruffy and smelling of fresh paint would concern me...

R's new noise is weeweeweewee Blush it's ok to go to a new group today, right? Blush

MissMummy1 · 04/10/2013 08:28

Worst night ever.

ChasingDaisy · 04/10/2013 08:30

Tesco have their baby event on. BOGOF on certain nappies.

Pikz · 04/10/2013 08:36

One hour of screaming that took 11oz milk and capol to settle. Joy.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/10/2013 09:04

Oh no mm' is this to do with trailing the streets on a damp dark evening not hit chocolating?

ppi love you! As I say DNs seem to be doing well, and it appears to me the staff really care about it. I saw all their cars in the carpack the Sat night before the inspection. My wobble comes from being the daughter of an Ofsted inspector and an educational consultant, I have been raised to listen to educational politics. Incessantly. I bucked the trend by not becoming a teAcher but when I was at uni a girl in my house was doing a teaching degree and I used to do most of her lesson planning for her placements! Hmm

Anyway I waffle.

pikz 11oz? That is loads. How is he this morning?

FatimaLovesBread · 04/10/2013 09:06

Morning all!

Sorry for the radio silence, I come on and moan, you all reply and then I don't post for a week. Bloody real life getting in the way Grin
Been a busy little bee with work and free time the last week and every time I think of posting I end up doing something else. DH and I had a date night for our anniversary on Saturday, First night out without M. It was lovely.

I'll have a proper catch up and post later today but wanted to check in and say I'm ok. Madame had sent me a lovely PM to check.

QQ before I go, M has woken up with a swollen eye, v puffy, looks like she's stoned Grin any ideas? Conjunctivitis?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/10/2013 09:12

Might be fatima visit to the dry I would imagine unless anyone else has any bright ideas. X

Pikz · 04/10/2013 09:15

Sophia he's all good. Trashing the house and being a terrorist as usual. I wonder if it's because he didn't ask for his 3rd bottle yesterday in the afternoon so I didn't give it. So he had milk at 9am and 7pm.

Fatima drs I think however I do find it funny how we compare them to things we know... DP said the other day is he ok he looks stoned!

ChasingDaisy · 04/10/2013 09:41

I thought calpol bottles were supposed to be child proof? Just found O with an open bottle FFS! I'm fairly sure he hasn't ingested any but that was a bit scary.

Lily311 · 04/10/2013 11:08

chasing o opened it as well this week. Not sure if I didn't screw the lid on properly or she managed to do it. Calpol is on top shelf ever since.

ChasingDaisy · 04/10/2013 11:36

He has also chewed his birth certificate, eaten the cardboard lid of a raisin box and choked on a piece of plastic, which resulted in the vomming up of said cardboard lid. I totally fail at mummy-ing today.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/10/2013 11:44

DD1was the calpol, Dd2 was the bleach in the bathroom in a holiday cottage, DS1 was the rinse aid. I am determined I will have no such incident a with DS2. Shock

MissMummy1 · 04/10/2013 14:03

Yep Sophia. Just when we had bedtime sussed, she has to bloody teeth again. I feel awful for laying into P for fucking up the night before, as I did bedtime last night and it was an even bigger disaster. 2 hours of driving around in the pissing rain was to no avail. She slept for 10 mins on me last night and 40 mins on him. The rest of the night we tag-teamed the screaming, punching, kicking nightmare.

She is in a better mood today post-nap. Thank fuck.

Stunt everyone else has it covered. I have never taught anywhere with such a policy but cannot comment on NI. Have a look at private tutors, many (including myself) will do an informal assessment and seemingly the threat of a tutor report seems to have forced many of my client's schools to suddenly push for assessments and additional resources in schools. Do they have a Kumon centre in NI? Big thing over here atm. bastards wanted to pay me 30% of their fees to work for them

I am stuck in waiting for an electrician who may or may not be coming. As far as I know, we do not need an electrician. Very pissed off, I want to go on a soggy forest walk with the winter-proofed macpac and puppy. Angry
