Oh spotty don't worry, so are we. O has just woken up again. He gets himself sitting up or standing very quietly then bursts into tears when he realises we're not there.

2blessed · 30/08/2013 05:51

3rd wake up!

Will catch up properly later, feeling really really knackered at the moment.

A few people have asked about R's birthday. My home is a bit small to host so thinking may hire a hall for a few hours and hire in some soft play bits.

Hope everyone is getting some sleep.

IsThatTrue · 30/08/2013 06:55

spotty the mortgage is the problem not the deposit :( fx my dad stops being an idiot.

Only 5 wake ups last night :) yay.

Ds's mouth is looking a lot better today :)

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2013 06:59

We couldn't even buy a shed with the amount a bank would lend us! Although if we moved up north we could probably get a house Grin

PurplePidjin · 30/08/2013 07:01

R has bizarrely started to like his buggy, but he's mainly on my back in the sling so maybe it's the novelty? 9 month regress still hasn't fucked off, up 3 times last night although the hour long sleep-refusals seem to be over thankfully. I've duffed up my back, so where I'd usually sleep while the boys have breakfast I'm waiting for ibuprofen to kick in. I could barely get R in and out of his cot last night despite a patch and a support bandage Sad will he fun this morning as dp has a job interview so we're going with him to a nearby shopping centre. The buggy's at my mum's and a sling is probably a bad idea. Good job he likes shopping trolleys!

WLmum · 30/08/2013 07:48

Go willyou! But yes, what were the parents doing and how on earth did lo manage to flip it?!

DH doesn't start work til later so is downstairs with the dds. I'm feeling grumpy and prowly though so need to find something to do.

I was half expecting to be changing nappies in the night but didn't need to. She did have a long feed about 1.30 and then at 6.45 for almost an hour! I guess it's comforting if she's got a grumbly belly. Poor lamb.

WLmum · 30/08/2013 07:56

Good luck mrpidj hope your back gets better pidj. I need to be super strict about not feeding lying down and not lifting dd2 etc. just going to do exercises.

utopian99 · 30/08/2013 08:09

Good luck pidjmr!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 30/08/2013 08:28

Poor you Pidj, hope the ibuprofen kicks in. Good luck MrPidj.

We all went in a big group (baby group isn't on for a couple of weeks) and she'd just taken her eyes off him for a second. He was 1y old and a very strong kicker. He had steered himself just behind her back and managed to shove his hands through the middle and pull himself over. Think he just was feeling mischievous and bit off more than he could chew. All's well that ends well and at least I now know to watch J like a hawk in his ring.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2013 10:02

Argh I've just had a friend request on fb from my TEN year old little sister... What are my parents thinking?!

MaMaPo · 30/08/2013 10:46

Morning all! Haven't been on in ages, we just got back from our 10 day holiday last night (over an hour late, thanks to slow French trains which made us miss our connection). We had a good holiday, lots of driving (about 1100km in all) and we stayed in 4 different places. C did well mostly, pretty good with sleeping in the car, and she also did all right with sleeping in her travel cot and other beds. We also kept her up late a lot while we ate out, and she mostly managed fine. She's really sleep deprived though, wouldnt sleep later if she went to bed late, and so now I'm on project Sleep until we go away again (which is on, erm, Sunday).

Hope all the babies are doing ok! Haven't read the thread but a quick skim of the page shows some rotten sleep going around. :( for that. C started the holiday alternating between awful sleep and sleeping through, and now seems to be up once or twice in the night for prolonged sleepy feeds. She hasn't eaten much solid food while on holiday (French baby food seems high in sugar and is really, really mushy and watery) so that's probably why. Of course, it could be sleep regression too - she'll be 9 months next week.

halestone · 30/08/2013 12:09

Those pictures sound adorable FoDGrin

Isthat FX it all sorts itself out soon with the house.

WL hope your feeling less grumpy now.

Hope your back is better soon Pidj and that Mr Pidj is successful with his job interview.

Mama that sounds like a nice holiday. Is it the America trip your going on this sunday?

MaMaPo · 30/08/2013 12:36

Hales - no! We're off to Denmark for one last visit with friends before we leave the UK in (gulp) three weeks. It's feeling like a whirlwind at the moment. Sometimes I think we're crazy doing all this with a baby.

halestone · 30/08/2013 13:08

Awww Mama i think your making nice memories whilst you've got chance it sounds lovely

WLmum · 30/08/2013 20:07

spotty fb pic please!
hales I was until T dropped my iPhone - shattered screen take 2 :-(

I have almost survived my first fast day on the 5/2. Looking forward to my soup! It has made me realise just how much I snack.

Stacks · 30/08/2013 20:34

Hello again everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL - we've never stopped with the terrible sleep, and have just come back from holiday too. So not much time or energy to post.

DS woke me every hour last night, so tonight I've decided to try CC. So far so good, I put him down at 7 and the crying stopped by 7:15. It wasn't nice as he'd cry more after each time I went in, but he settled fantastically quickly all told. Just hoping he sleeps for a while now.

I hope weight loss goes well for those of you trying. I'm actually in the other boat - losing quite a lot of weight. In down to 59kg and for a while lost around 1kg a week. I'm now having second breakfast each day and high calorie snacks to maintain this weight.

I bought a woven wrap recently. I like it, and DS doesn't seem to mind it, but I do find it a bit of a fiddle to get on. I'm using basically the same wrap technique as for the moby, but obviously having to tie with DS in it. I can't get the tension right though, so think I'll have to get along to a sling meet. It's a Didymos Malawi Fishes if anyone is interested.

DS can sit unaided really well, and is excellent at correcting his balance. He quite often will only settle in his pushchair if he's grumpy by not being strapped in - he loves playing with the crotch strap. As a consequence he's got good at balancing even when the pushchair is moving or going up and down kerbs. He's also been pulling up to standing for about the last 4 weeks, and takes steps while holding on (again, for about the last month). No signs of crawling though, and can't sit himself up from laying. He's also not long started rolling back to front. No sign of any communication, except taking the piss copying people coughing. That and really high pitched squealing Hmm.

MaMaPo · 30/08/2013 21:43

Hey Stacks - good luck with the CC. We seem to have backed off the whole self-settling thing as we've been on holiday and so I've been feeding to sleep. We've decided that given how disrupted everything will be until November when we're back in Australia, and given all the teething, there's no point insisting that she put herself to sleep. Feeding to sleep it is, I guess. No problem with that. If we get really disrupted nights I might revisit this plan though.

QQ for the group - anyone have a baby who is a confident sitter, but has recently started throwing themselves backwards? C has been sitting with increasing skill from about 5 months but in the last 3-4 weeks I have had to put cushions behind her or leave her on her back or front as she has had some nasty knocks from just letting herself go and conking her head on the floor. Any idea what's going on?

WLmum · 30/08/2013 22:02

Hi stacks I guess it's the lack of sleep keeping your weight down. I was the same with dd1. Good luck with the cc. It is hard but it does work and sometimes its the only option left. Sounds like a great start - just 15 mins. Dd1 was over an hour first night.

mama no idea! T sometimes falls backwards from looking up too far.

Stacks · 30/08/2013 22:04

Mama - T doesn't sit as well when he's tired, could it be that? Not had him throwing himself back though, it's usually more falling sideways slowly.

Spotty - been laying in bed realising I forgot to say - if you can get to a bravissimo shop they should have your size. They measured me as a 28 GG (!!!) and had that size in stock in a small shop. It was a nursing bra though.

Pidg - good luck to Mr Pidg. Mr Stacks had an interview today, no feedback for up to two weeks though.

utopian99 · 31/08/2013 03:24

mama could it be a precursor to trying to stand? Before O worked out about pushing himself up from all fours he would just straighten up, hoping the adult behind him would act as a prop... Hmm

stacks sorry to hear about sleep issues and weight. I've suddenly dipped below my pre-pg weight due to a spree of the d&v last week (apologies for tmi) but doesn't seem to have affected supply.

Small man has taken to waking up quietly and standing up in his cot to look for me before bursting into tears. I often wake up to him weeping, holding onto the bars - itl looks hheart breaking. Do people have any recommended good nightlights? Might mean he's less upset in the dark?

WLmum · 31/08/2013 07:07

utopian bless him! I did a bit of a search for decent night lights that we could have in the hall for bigs going to the loo in the night but came back empty handed. The only ones I could find were the small 'glow' plug ins. So now we leave a light on downstairs that shines a bit up the stairs. You can't even buy really low wattage light bulbs for the hall or a table lamp anymore.

itsMYNutella · 31/08/2013 07:58

Morning all!
stacks it's funny, I find with a bit of sleep deprivation I smack more and gain weight but when it's really bad I'm not interested in food and loose weight Confused although I'm 4 kilos off pre-baby weight and would need to loose about 10 kilos to be a healthy weight

utopian that would make me so sad! DS rarely cries, when he wakes he sometime has a crawl in his bed and finds his dummy which he then smacks against the bars I should get him a tin mug or he just starts to chat...

Does any one else's non tummy sleeping baby roll onto their tummy in their sleep and then wake up upset? It's a trick of DS' Confused

Also, my happy hooligan fell at the park yesterday. Every Friday morning I meet an international group of ladies & babies. It's great because we can chat in English Grin. There is a massive sandpit at the park. We sit at the side on some benches... There is about a 30cm drop into the sand pit. I was talking to a friend and looked at DS, he was close to the edge but I figured (since he was busy playing with a bucket) that he was ok. Look back seconds later and he was laying face down in the sand.
Of course i jumped into action and picked up my poor precious baby. Did he cry? No. He was quite happy and had used the opportunity to stuff his face with sand!Shock He is a little nutter!

FriendofDorothy · 31/08/2013 09:10

Well my inability to get up and go yesterday is maybe explained by the fact that my period started this morning. The first one I have had in 18 months.

MamaTo3Boys · 31/08/2013 10:03

Hi all Smile

Sorry to hear youre having sleepless babies :( Oliver is v.lazy. He goes to bed at 6 and (through the summer hols) hasn't been getting up till 9. I have a feeling thats all going to change soon though, I've been too lucky with his sleeping patterns so far.

He's also discovered whats between his legs haha in the bath last night he wouldn't stop pulling it Shock x
