We're going to room on the room live this weekend. Can't wait Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 16/09/2013 19:12

Oh dd would have loved that!

WLmum · 16/09/2013 19:47

Oh shame we missed it, we all love room on the vroom but until recently dd1&2 were a bit scared of the dragon and mud monster.
nutella I third going straight to a sippy. T had formula in hers for the first time today as my frozen supplies have run out - she loved it apparently! Obv pleased but sad too. She always wants a feed from me as soon as I get in from work, but I like it that way.
I've lost half a stone since starting the 5:2 and this morning dd1 was playing with my belly and said mummy all your sloppiness has gone! That'll do me! Another half to go and some toning required now.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/09/2013 19:55

Well done WL!

I'm finally tucking into my chicken and chorizo casserole it's super tasty. Might have seconds Grin

WLmum · 16/09/2013 21:08

Enjoy spotty

I just did a 10 min tummy toning DVD. Virtuous or what!

halestone · 16/09/2013 22:08

Wow hales how did you manage that? Room on the broom is a story by the awesome Julia Donaldson. All her books are ace and we've seen of her books turned into kids theatre and they have been brilliant. Your local library will def have stuff by her.

halestone · 16/09/2013 22:31

Thanks for the tip WL, i'll go and have a nose soon. I havn't been the library yet although i signed up whilst i was pregnant with H. I got picked out of the prize draw for that Organix weaning thing that Annmumsnet put the request on here for. I was chuft i never win anything Grin

Ooo well done hales! Yes Julia Donaldson is the best author! Dd loves books and goes to the library every three weeks with mil Smile

4:45!!! What can I do to stop the early waking??? I can't cope with it anymore Sad

WLmum · 17/09/2013 07:17

Ouch spotty. The only thing I can think of is to treat it like a night waking and a spot of cc when he doesn't agree. I think if you stuck at it for a few days, even if you have to do battle until normal getting up time you might see some improvement.
T slept til 6.30 this morning with 2 wake ups where I gave short feeds and cuddle/rocked to sleep. She was not too impressed but its the first step to no more night feeds and more night sleeping.

Big dds kid sleep clocks are broken - anyone know where I can get a slightly more grown up version for dd1, e g that still has some sort of cue but has hands and numbers too?

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2013 07:55

WL cn you get a digital clock radio and tell her to come in when she can see a 7 as the first number? Or set the radio alarm ifnot?

utopian99 · 17/09/2013 08:01

Well done hales! Very Envy I never win anything either.
Our swimming and baby signing classes are all startingagain; seems odd to have terms at 8.5months old!

itsMYNutella · 17/09/2013 09:53

Morning everyone.... A question for those that have sleep trained... :(

The last couple of days DS' morning nap has been too short / non existent. Today he woke five minutes after I put him down Angry so I decided to leave him there. I have been checking on him, went in after 5 mins, ten mins and then 15 mins he is still screaming. I originally put him down just over an hour ago. WWYD? Would you get him up or wait it out until he sleeps? I wouldn't mind if he was just whinging but he is full on screaming Confused
I just want him to sleep! He fell asleep in his lunch yesterday he was so tired. I know he needs the sleep. Apparently I was a tough case to crack too as a baby :( normally he feeds to sleep and I didn't mind too much as long as he slept....

itsMYNutella · 17/09/2013 09:54

Utopian do you go to singing or signing? I'd love to do baby signing, if it works. I think that would be cool.... Whether it helps or not is another question :)

ddas · 17/09/2013 13:13

nutella maybe he's getting ready to drop that nap? From what I remember ds went to 1 long afternoon sleep around 10-11 months. He just kept fighting it so i just gave up and brought his lunch & lunchtime nap forward & he was much happier- clearly just didn't need that morning nap anymore. Dd think will need 2 naps for longer. Every baby is different.

itsMYNutella · 17/09/2013 14:21

ddas one long nap would be great... Sadly DS almost always naps for 30 minutes- as if he is on a timer! He is happiest when we get in three naps in one day. He was miserable yesterday and today because his morning nap was rubbish Sad and he fell asleep during lunch both days. He is just coming up to 8.5 months.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2013 14:29

I would WL but he's in with dd so I can't really

utopian99 · 17/09/2013 16:25

Sorry to hear about sleep nutella, hope it improves soon..
We do baby signing with tiny talk, it's signing and songs etc but fun for O and hopefully good for helping communication. One of the older babies (about 10 months) is starting to sign, so not just a gimmick I hope..

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2013 17:43

Dp got a new job

utopian99 · 17/09/2013 18:07

Ooh hurrah for mrpidj! What's the job?

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2013 18:19

Car sales, perfect for him :o pm me if you're looking

MaMaPo · 17/09/2013 18:51

Hullo all! Well done Hales and mrpidj - great news.

A sad week for me - said goodbye to NCT group on the weekend, and to 2 good friends today. I hate goodbyes! The removalists came yesterday so the house is sparse. Due to getting excited watching them pack C had only 2 30 min naps but then slept 6.30-5.30-7! amazing sleep, especially as she's now in her travel cot until we get back to Aus.

I think she's teething today - does anyone else's lo do a frantic headshake and stuff their fist in their mouth? She looks quite beside herself. Lots of tears getting ready for bed but she's feeding ok and fx for a settled night.

lazzaroo · 17/09/2013 20:10

We're with you on 3 naps nutella, especially when our day often starts at 5am. Baby lazza used to be able to nap longer than 40mins but seems to have lost the ability Confused.

spotty I know how hard the early starts are but we went through the same with dd1 and tried everything. I don't remember anything working apart from her growing out of it (sorry, not what you want to hear!). Hear other people have success with....pushing back morning sleep gradually, 'wake to sleep', black out blinds, later bedtime, earlier bedtime etc etc!! I really didn't think we'd be facing the same problem this time around but we are!

Gave baby lazza some porridge before bed tonight (getting desperate!). She gobbled it all up so who knows....maybe it'll make a difference Hmm

WLmum · 17/09/2013 20:21

Oh yes spotty I was forgetting that. Get a coffee machine?!
Congrats mrpidj I thought about digital but was trying to get some sneaky telling the time lessons in!
mama Sad. It must be really tough but try to think of the adventures you're going to have and how nice it will be to be back in oz.

utopian99 · 17/09/2013 20:27

mama O starts biting HARD on anything he can - case in point the edge of the bath today. He has a lateral incisor just breaking the gum and is very unhappy.

In other news - we have walking! 4 unassisted steps, starting from standing on his own, ending on his own. Not steady, but does that count? Grin
