Happy christening day R! And thanks pidj Wink

My R is now up for the day. DP not home yet so we're on the sofa watching rugrats the movie.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 08:09

Have a lovely day pidj.

I've cooked chocolate croissants, had a bath and hair wash with dd, put a chicken in the oven and ds has been napping over an hour. Oh and put a load of washing on Grin

2blessed · 15/09/2013 08:09

Well I'm watching and R is ripping up a newspaper...

2blessed · 15/09/2013 08:13

Wow spotty i'm impressed and a little Envy. I've got a wash on but not even seasoned the meat yet for dinner.

WLmum · 15/09/2013 08:26

Happy christening pidj
spotty v impressed!

Hideous night here - v unusual so many wake ups and only settling with boob. Assuming teeth so will get some ambesol asap. Forgot to make a cake for the friends we're (well girls and I) are going to so need to pit stop for one after swimming lessons.

MaMaPo · 15/09/2013 08:44

What an industrious lot! Good luck and congratulations for christenings.

Morning has been a whirlwind of washing, filing, and trying to motivate my husband to get shit done. We have leaving drinks this afternoon so need to get all our sorting and packing done now.

Stupid move by me last night - at 1.30am I realised C was asleep on her tummy. Had a moments panic about the SIDS recommendations so flipped her over. Cue a wide awake baby who wouldn't settle without a feed. Next time I should leave her, right?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 08:51

Yes mama! Ds as been sleeping on his tummy for months and c is able to roll herself over now if she wants to Smile

MaMaPo · 15/09/2013 09:07

Only just though spotty - c is not a motivated roller!

itsMYNutella · 15/09/2013 09:10

mama DS also rolls onto his tummy occasionally and now I just leave him even though he sometimes sleeps on his face which is a little unnerving

spotty I'm also very Envy I need to cool more. DP said yesterday that he was looking forward to me cooking something; it happens so rarely at the moment I felt like quite a failure Sad

pidj yay for sleeps!! And have a lovely christening.

DS crawled over to me just now and chomped and dribbled on my hand. I noticed after he left an insect wing stuck to my finger Shock not what I had in mind when I started BLW! I showed DP who was also a bit Confused where dodge get it?

DS is also really starting to pull up on the bookshelf in the living room... Am I being naive to leave books on it? Should I move them all? Risk it?? I don't know... I will buy things to keep some cupboards closed but I know friends who had things to keep their LO from getting into the fridge at this age although their LO wasn't walking and even if she was she would not have been tall enough to reach the fridge Hmm

WLmum · 15/09/2013 09:18

mama def leave her. The risk of SIDS goes through the floor at 6 months. It's really normal for babies to start sleeping on their tummies when they discover they can.

nutella I've left all books on shelves, T delights in pulling them all off. She can't open our kitchen cupboards but I sometimes leave the one with plastic stuff open for her to empty. I think it's about weighing up actual vs perceived risk.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 09:22

Nutella I've never really done anything to baby proof other than move a pot plant from the floor Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 09:47

Nutella get a slow cooker. Tomorrow we're having chicken and chorizo casserole with olives. Bung it all in fresh and ready in the evening (perfect as I'm not home until gone seven)

itsMYNutella · 15/09/2013 10:22

spotty that's a good idea. I'll talk to my mum about it - I'm sure she had one and I'll add it to the wedding list.

A wedding question if I may - how much did you pay a wedding photographer? We have found one whose website has beautiful pictures on, she is available on the day. Included in the package is the getting ready, wedding and party and then a link for people to look at your pictures on her website.
Of course all this awesomeness comes at a price... 1400€ Shock but other photographers we liked were not available, put of the country, about to give birth...
The only other one we know is available isn't a great photographer. We looked at her website and I said to DP that they were missing that eye a really good photographer has and they were all a bit gimmicky to make up for it Confused
WWYD? I'm tempted to tell DP I'll pay for the photographer because the pictures are important to me plus I need someone with skill to stop me from looking sooo tired Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 10:27

Just sent to go out and checked our mot as we thought it ran out in October turns out it ran out in August ShockShock can't believe we've been driving round without one. Plus I'm Sadbecause I really wanted a nandos

Stacks · 15/09/2013 14:19

Getting my period has made me think... Pros and cons of another baby? 18m age gap a good or bad idea? What haven't I thought of when considering it?

We haven't baby proofed anything yet, though T still isn't really on the move. He did about 30s of proper crawling yesterday, but doesn't seem to want to do it again. He's barely commando crawling either, he mostly just rolls to his back and whines till you go get him. He's cruising round the furniture a bit though, and kinda managing the push along walker thing.

Spotty oh dear to no mot! Do you have a friendly local garage? Is the car likely to pass it?

Nutella I can't remember what we paid the photographer for our wedding, she was the mother of a good friend though. It's worth looking into what's included in the cost - do you get digital copies of your photos? Album work? Touch ups and post processing?

Mama I'd leave DS on his front while sleeping, though he's never shown any inclination for wanting to sleep that way. He like being on his side though, always has.

Hope the christening goes well Pidg.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 14:27

We have a good garage but I'm working Monday and Tuesday so it'll have to wait until Wednesday Confusednot sure if it'll pass but they will check before they do the mot so we only have to pay once

halestone · 15/09/2013 15:09

Happy Christening Day RThanks

Stacks from what i've heard loads of people say its really hard work having two close together but that its completely worth it. Theres 13 months between me and my sister and although there were plenty of arguments we're really close and have always been able to look out for each other.

Spotty FX your car passes its MOT. And well done you for a productive morning.

Mama i leave H to do what she wants in the cot i only get her out when she cries. She often ends up at the top of the cot when i put her in at the bottom.

We had an awful night with H no decent sleep in her until 6am this morning when she decided to sleep till 10:30. Me and DP are knackered and narky though.

2blessed your morning sounds lovely Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 15:16

I wouldn't want two close together but that's just me. There's positives and negative to both such a personal decision

utopian99 · 15/09/2013 15:50

Happy christening pidj and R!

We had O's naming yesterday and I'm.really glad we did as it was a lovely day, lots of friends and family, and my parents' dog brought her ball to my dad right at the start of the ceremony, she obviously thought we had all gathered in the garden for her!

stacks we're hoping for a small gap - O is 8.5 months now and basically if I get pg from now on we'll be happy! Not charting etc but have ditched all contraception and any excuse for DTD.. Grin I fully expect if we manage two under 2 it'll be chaos hell but my brother and I have 20 months between us and love it.

Don't worry too much about face sleeping mama, O has refused to sleep on his back since he moved into the cot from the hammock at 4 months!

IsThatTrue · 15/09/2013 17:34

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while, I've missed so much I will try and catch up later.

I've been missing because DH has been working long hours, DS is barely sleeping and I had a 10k race this morning.

Now I'm feeling really ill, DH is working, DS is refusing all solid food and bfing constantly instead.

I hope all mummies and babies are ok.

PrunellaDeVille · 15/09/2013 17:37

nutella just checked the pricing on my friend's wedding photography website (I think she has a great eye) and was astounded to see how much she charges - £1400. as will you (I think) said, it depends what's included. for comparison/out of interest my friend's website is: www.hollywallace.co.UK
sorry can't link on app.

stacks two close friends have a second child - the one with a 16 month age gap has integrated nicely and the eldest has easily learnt to share while with the 3 year age gap the eldest has had trouble dealing with not being the only focus of parental attention. But the mother with a small age gap is always wilting (previously a strong driven business woman) while the other mother has had time to establish a flexible self employed role.
but then again it all depends on the individuals

lazzaroo · 15/09/2013 18:49

Just spotted baby lazza has a new tooth through Smile, that's her third. Might explain rubbish sleep!?

spotty I've done that before with my MOT Blush

Age gap is a really personal thing. Almost exactly 3 years between mine & dd1 has been brilliant. Old enough to be helpful & entertain herself when I was constantly feeding for the first few weeks! Loves being big sister.

Hope you've had nice day pidj & glad your special day went well utopian

And mama baby lazza has recently started putting herself on her tummy to sleep. I used to put her down on her side for naps but put her on her tummy now.

You've been busy Isthat, sounds familiar (minus the running!)

I have just been busy sorting out 12-18month clothes from the loft. Bought some new for baby lazza, now 8.5months, and they were a bit tight!! Blush she's a chunky monkey Smile

PurplePidjin · 15/09/2013 19:07

fab day. Absolutely shattered and in bed watching tv with leftover asti Wine

Highlights include:
Friend's dd toddling up the aisle to tell me "Nini go wee wee" (she's potty training)
R starting a cold and doing a massive sneeze so i nearly miss our cue trying to wipe snot off the whole of his face
Severely autistic 8yo dn being the best behaved child there
The cake: baked by mil, iced by me, decorated by my Aunt. The one that lives in America.
Friends leaving at 5:30am because their hotels fell through.
Card from MIL saying how glad she is that we're having R christened and giving him solid morals

:)

itsMYNutella · 15/09/2013 19:11

prunella thank you for the website. I'd say they have a similar talent and take great pictures while also making them look fun

stacks I have one brother who is 18 months older and one 18 months younger... I quite like the idea of three but not so close together. I think the first sort of 6-9 months would be hell but after that you're past the baby stuff much faster. I can't understand having a big age gap and going through all the baby stuff again - but of course that's just me. Everyone wants different things and everyone's children are different.

spotty oh dear, first your driving licence and now your mot! Have you checked your road tax etc?? Smile Hope you get it sorted easily and fingers crossed your car sails through!!

I very rarely drive, our car is DP's very posh company car and I feel very stressed driving one of the most expensive cars I've ever driven and doing everything the wrong way round Confused; but I drove us to the PIL today and back. And it was easier than I remembered Grin
Although FIL was really getting on my nerves today. He was making faces at DS and calling his name and making him laugh all through lunch and of course everyone was staring at him and he didn't really eat much FIL kept saying "oh he's not hungry he wants to get down" then when we all ate our fruit salad DS merrily tucked into his hummus and bits. Hmm
Oh and even though DS had the grand total of 15 minutes sleep before we for there FIL declared him not tired Blush seriously! I'm with DS everyday I know when he's tired!!! He slept 45 mins in the buggy when we went out for a walk and then again in his car seat on the way home. Urgh! I know FIL just wants to play with him but he also needs to sleep and eat!! Sorry rant over Grin

Oh and who else here puts sugar on a freshly made fruit salad? No one? Just the PIL?? Or AIBU? Ok rant really done now!! GrinGrin

Just putting DS to sleep and he did a little laugh. So cute!!
Thanks for the Photography replies. I've read through her blurb again and €1400 is the all inclusive package as follows:
First a little get to know you session to check that we like each other and will work well together.

  • pair photo shoot (normally about 250 on its own) where we would get at least 30 photos on cd after
  • on the day about 8 hours of photography including the getting ready, service and party. Also during the day the usual happy couple photo session.
Oh and all the work on the photos tired eyes photo shopping so touch ups etc. We didn't get a quote but another photographer offered only to photograph the service and then the newly weds photo bit which seemed a bit odd.

Gosh this is an essay! Sorry!

FriendofDorothy · 15/09/2013 19:33

I really want to be pregnant now. Not quite desperate but it won't be long. I wanted a 14 month gap between number 1 and 2!
