T has been a hot red cheeked cling on today. Guess that tooth heralds the start of a new era. Poor little mites (and mummies!).
Dd2 is still hyper sensitive and today dd1 told her that everyone dies eventually! Cue meltdown no 685. I really wanted to get out for half an hour or even have 10 mins tidying upstairs alone but DH was 3 hours late home from work.
On the plus side, our mortgage payments should go down a little in nov when we change from a fixed rate to a tracker!

Barbeasty · 13/09/2013 22:00

This was the first time DD has bf a baby (actually it turns out it was a stripy jelly cat rabbit that plays music when you pull the cord, so pretty surreal!)

Spotty, sounds fine.

Bless DH. There was a glitch with the Waitrose website when I ordered the shopping. What has arrived is more like what I tried to order than the confirmation email- they haven't actually doubled the baby food order, my fruit has actually come, but we somehow have 2 heads of ordinary broccoli and 2 packs of tender stem, so just over a kilo. Only I will eat it every day, A and DD will eat a small bit for 3 meals! I joked that they'd substituted broccoli for baby food & he was horrified.

PrunellaDeVille · 13/09/2013 22:05

Grin a kilo of broccoli!
I like the stuff but I think that'll take some effort, good luck

2blessed · 13/09/2013 22:34

Sorry to hear of poorly babies and mums.

Great story beasty, I agree you should write those anecdotes down Grin

R fell out of his cot yesterday. He was fine after a cuddle and boob but I felt like such a failure. I think he chucked one of his toys out and tried to reach over to get it and... No more leaving him in the cot while I nip to the loo.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/09/2013 03:06

Well I've had 1.5 hours sleep again and I've got to be up in 26 minutes. Not sure how I'll make it through the airport but on the other side there's a sunlounger with my name on it!

See you all in 10 days. Love to all the other poorly babies and mums.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2013 05:43

Ooo Envy have fun WillYou!

I was up three times but at 2 and again at 3 ds was just lying there blowing raspberries so that kept me awake Hmm up for the day now poor snotty baby

PurplePidjin · 14/09/2013 06:09

Beasty broccoli and Stilton soup for the freezer?

R just slept 6:45-5:30 :o

2blessed · 14/09/2013 07:40

Fab sleep pidj!

2blessed · 14/09/2013 07:40

Fab sleep pidj!

Barbeasty · 14/09/2013 07:51

I think soup will be the way forward!

DH doesn't strap A into the highchair, and we just walked in to find him standing up in it. The straps will be used henceforth!

A woke at 3, then at 4 he woke to play for 40 minutes. Woke at 5 then DH came in with a cup of tea (and lively DD...) at 7.

2blessed can you lower the cot at all? We need to take it to the lowest setting this weekend, or A will be the next to fall out.

Attempt 2 at getting shoes for DD today. I'll need all the luck you can give me....

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2013 07:56

Are you having trouble with shoes beasty? I need to sort dd some winter ones but at size 7.5 I'm hoping to hold off until she hits 8!

I'm going to batch make some soul today Smile that time of year!

MaMaPo · 14/09/2013 09:10

Morning all. I'm adding myself to the list of exhaustion here - C woke at 3.45am and didn't really settle properly after that. We all got up at 6 and spent the morning sorting and organizing. The movers arrive first thing Monday. We leave the UK in one week exactly!

Might eat a crepe then go back to bed when c does.

halestone · 14/09/2013 09:40

Utopian that family time sounds perfect. I hope your having a lovely weekend i'm not sure if O's naming day is today or tomorrow but i hope you all have a brilliant time.

Beasty i love making broccoli and cauliflower cheese, that also freezes really well.

2blessed i know its hard but don't feel guilty H fell off my bed and i cried more than she did. But everyone on here made me feel so much better about it.

Spotty i'm glad work went well.

Willyou have a great holiday.

Mama i think a lazy day is called for before all the madness of packing starts.

Pidj thats a brilliant sleep.

Prunella i hope your getting some rest today.

We're off to hopefully buy H's Christening dress today. I'm taking my mum and dad with us so should be an interesting day.

I hope all the poorly babies and mums are feeling better.

We took DD to get shoes the other week. She couldn't physically get her feet into boots, which she normally has due to narrow ankles. And the only shoes wide enough near the toes were too tight over the top of her foot. She seems to have a high instep (hence not getting into boots) and like me is wide in not quite the usual place- I don't have the arch that runs under the "knuckle" of your toes and it looks as though DD is the same.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2013 10:23

Hmm have anywhere that stocks pepino? They don't do boots but do good shoes.

PurplePidjin · 14/09/2013 11:35

Kickers and Dr Martens do good kids shoes shows my age that I'm jealous of that

Barbeasty · 14/09/2013 18:42

We got some max & may ones. Much more fitted her, including boots and a pair of shoes which didn't fit last time.... I think we got a better assistant this time. But they're red and she loves them.

We also went to a toy shop I haven't been in before. I got A a set of bells on a fabric band that does up with velcro, so it's small enough to stay on. Now we can hear him coming, like a mountain cow!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2013 18:47

I haven't heard of those do they have extra support on the ankle like startrite? (Always searching for new brands for dd).

itsMYNutella · 14/09/2013 18:58

Hello ladies! It's been a hectic week/ 10 days for us. We drive to the UK for a few days, stayed with a friend one night and realised we didn't have a bed for DS. Poor baby slept in a corner in a folded duvet with big towels rolled up to make the other two "sides" it worked Grin

He was very good the drive over and back and loved having lots of people to play with - it wore him out so he slept fairly well at night too.

beasty great you had shoe success! I apparently also chose myself a lovely pair of red shoes when I was little.

Sorry for the all the disturbed nights! But yay pidj! What was it like to sleep all night?? Envy

DS now has one top tooth at the front and it looks like its neighbour will soon arrive as well. His night sleeping is no better. He is doing more "bear walking" and pulling himself up Confused we need to lower his cot. I found him with an arm hooked over the side grinning at me - when he was supposed to be napping! It's all happening so fast!!!

WLmum · 14/09/2013 19:44

2blessed dd1 climbed out of the cot when I was doing cc! As if my horror and guilt weren't enough she landed behind the door (v small room) so I had to push her out the way with the door to get to her.
nutella such a cute image of ds asleep in the corner.

WLmum · 14/09/2013 20:50

On my 2nd settle since bedtime an hour ago. Teeth methinks. I want my wine and cheesecake, T just wants boob.

Barbeasty · 14/09/2013 21:05

Never heard of them, and nothing comes up on google. But yes, they have decent ankles and look like startrite type shoes.

The shop sells ecco, geox, startrite as well (more too, but those are what I can remember).

It's the Bath branch of a small chain called One Small Step. I think they have lots of London branches.

We used to go to a shop in Cirencester, but that shut down while I was pregnant with A and I might have cried due to all the hormones and DH works in Bath so we found this place.

Peppa Pig and Lola both have episodes where they buy red shoes, so DD couldn't refuse- actually she had said she wanted purple and she turned down 2 purple pairs for these!

2blessed · 15/09/2013 00:33

Thanks all. Prompted me to do a move in R's room, moved the cot into a corner and put the changing table next to it. I like moving furniture around it makes the room feel fresher, almost like having a new room. Finally put up his wall sticker too. 8 months on its really looking like a baby's room
and not just a dumping ground for all my stuff I never use

Gave up using the changing table this evening, R is such a squirmer when it comes to changing time. Oh well as my mum would say "Its all age appropriate." Not getting rid of it just yet, will make good storage.

Nothing like a bit of improvisation nutella Grin

Have you had your wine and cheesecake yet WL?

DP's out tonight. Its his first proper night out since R' arrival. I'm pleased for him and I get the telly all to myself Wink. Right I'm off to find a midnight snack before R wakes up

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2013 05:30

5am wake up. Dp acting like a stroppy teenager Hmm

PurplePidjin · 15/09/2013 07:30
