Sorry fat fingers...

hales it's awful when they're like that. It doesn't make you sound horrible at all. None of us are perfect. Unmumsnetty hugs being sent your way.

utopian99 · 04/09/2013 20:20

Feel for you hales - I think we all have put down and take 5 moments, it's only natural.
Also sorry to hear about poor napping.

O had a lovely afternoon chasing bigger girls (3-4yo) round the garden. Really taking after his father this one!

I now feel guilty for not taking O to the dentist - he has two proper bottom teeth and three cutting at the moment, should I go just as a routine thing?

Also guilty as I miss timed supper so have had to feed him to sleep with no real food first. Sad he did have a lovely play with dh while I made it but is now asleep; if I'd had a tiny ounce of common sense I'd have asked dh to give him supper from one of the prepped lunches I have for us.. Idiot mummy.

utopian99 · 04/09/2013 20:21

Ooh forgot all my bold-ing on names, sorry. Seem to have absent brain this eve..

SpottyTeacakes · 04/09/2013 20:24

Utopian your dentist will just say to bring him along with you to start with

Barbeasty · 04/09/2013 20:25

Hales, absolutely take a break and let DP take over. And if you're exhausted then maybe get the GP to check you for anaemia from that bleeding.

I was just holding A in the kitchen, talking to DH. Suddenly A grabbed my pint glass of water and flipped it onto the stone floor. Broken glass and water everywhere. DH is clearing up; A is resolutely not falling asleep on my lap.

PurplePidjin · 04/09/2013 20:35

For those with OHs working regular hours, dp loves having his own set times with R. His responsibilities are breakfast and bath time. Means i get an hour in bed while they eat, and 20 minutes to tidy up of an evening. I think I've bathed R about 3 times and given him breakfast twice! No matter how tired he is, how much his head hurts or how slow his arm is being, he wants his time - he was most put out last week when T was still asleep when he left for work :o

They have a brilliant bond :)

IsThatTrue · 04/09/2013 20:36

utopian I only took ds2 as the others had their 6monthly appointment. I don't think dd saw a dentist until she was 3 as I wasn't registered at one just take DS along with you when you go. And don't beat yourself up about dinner. DS didn't have lunch today because we were busy. He had more boob, no harm done. :)

WillYouDoTheFandango · 04/09/2013 20:38

Hales I'm with you. If you're a bad mummy so am I as J has cried for almost a week and I'm ready to join the circus. He had a good day yesterday but other than that he has had to be on me at every second of every day. The other day I had a wee while trying to prise his hands off my sanitary towel!

Here's to hoping its a stage and here's to lots of Cake Wine and if all else fails [valium].

MamaTo3Boys · 04/09/2013 20:47

I'm having trouble getting my 2 older boys to go to sleep tonight :(
You'd think after getting up early, their first day back in school and playing out with their friends before tea would be enough to tire them out.
Don't know where they get their energy from, I'm exhausted!

Barbeasty · 04/09/2013 20:53

Missed that bit utopian. Our practice will only register them once they're 2, but our actual dentist will have a peek before then if they have a few teeth & let him. We were advised to take DC with us so they get used to the idea.

And the clingyness is a stage. The nursery suggested that it's as they become mobile and realise they are their own person.

Although DD still likes to wander into the bathroom when I'm there.

WLmum · 04/09/2013 21:58

utopian T only came to the dentist as dd1 had an apt, she was asleep in her pram through the whole apt! She doesn't have any teeth anyway! That was the hospital dentist as dd1 has a weird tooth that broke in half top to bottom when she was 2 and no-one knows why so it's monitored, but our actual dentist that we saw a couple of weeks back made us all appointments on the off chance that T had some teeth in 3 months time. She was pretty cool and said it was more about getting them used to it and didn't mind if T caused havoc on the floor while I was in the chair.

T did some independent standing in the garden today!

No dignity in parenthood - boobs were out after feeding T, 3yo decided to have a go and then so did 6yo! I'd be lying if I said it wasn't weird!

WLmum · 04/09/2013 22:56

isthat that is amazing weight loss - well done you! I should have a stock of calorie controlled meals by then so happy to share. DH eats the same things every fast day - the boredom would kill me faster than the hunger.

MamaTo3Boys · 04/09/2013 23:12

What finger foods do you give your LOs? I was thinking of starting Oliver with some at dinnertime instead of having full cooked meals all the time but can't think what to give him. At the moment he normally has weetabix for breakfast, them spag Bol or whatever I'd made the night before and frozen, then another cooked meal or jar of baby food at tea time x

halestone · 04/09/2013 23:24

Thank you everyone. Willyou i'll have a valium thank youGrin

Utopian i wouldn't worry to much about supper. We often miss meals for one reason or another but H has a terrible appetite so that might be why she doesn't care.

3boys the 1st finger food we tried with H was carrot but that was because it was cold and she was teething. But she loves carrots cucumbers peaches grapes and strawberries.

WL and Isthat congratulations on all your weight lossGrinThanks

Our favourite finger foods at the moment are pasta, cauliflower cheese, avocado, sweet potatoe, Spanish omelette, broccoli & carrots.
Oh and of course any fruit but especially mango.
Try and give her finger food for dinner- some carbs, veg & fruit.

MamaTo3Boys · 04/09/2013 23:43

Thanks Smile

I do the weekly shop tomorrow so ill pick up some pasta and fruit and veg. Ill let you know how he gets on with it. He's got used to lumpy food now, he used to suck all the sauce off it then spit the lumps out so havent really tried finger foods yet x

WillYouDoTheFandango · 05/09/2013 03:47

Mama anything and everything is finger food here. Toast, chopped up omelette, sandwich thins spread with hummus, strips of pepper, you name it he'll fling it round my living room eat it.

So we're lying in bed and we have a conversation that goes like this. "DP did you put those bottles you made in the fridge?" Him (quite short) "Yes!" So why are they sat in a bowl of cold water when I've just popped to the kitchen now Hmm

WillYouDoTheFandango · 05/09/2013 03:51

Ps good choice Hales. Can I get madam a rhinoceros tranquilliser to wash that down with? Wink

IsThatTrue · 05/09/2013 06:24

Um....DS was up at midnight...and I think he slept until now Shock unless I am so sleep deprived I forgot a wake up in its entirety. Hmm that's pretty amazing sleep for him. I've only had 6hrs in a row about twice since he was born! :)

I hope others had a better night too.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 06:40

Yay IsThat! Apparently dd woke three times last night but I didn't hear her! It was 30 degrees in their room though...

Stacks · 05/09/2013 08:59

Woo for good nights for people. We had a good night here too, though this morning I woke up hearing T crying from his room - not through the baby monitor. No idea why, it was all switched on.

Hales how was your night? Better than yesterday? It's so hard when they cry for what seems like no reason.

Will the bottles be ruined now Willyou? Silly DP.

Mama we give most things as finger food here. Most of it ends up on the floor though. Sweetcorn on the cob goes down well though, cook it as normal, then once cooked slice it into penny shapes through the core. T loves gnawing on them. Also standards like toast, carrot sticks, sweet potato wedges and chips.

Sigh, I keep telling myself I won't try CC in the day as its too distressing for T and I. He cries loads more and doesn't nap that long each time. Still I just put him down asleep, he woke up as I left but I continued to leave thinking he'd fall back asleep quickly. 10 minutes of screaming later and I feel terrible, but I also feel I can't go pick him up as that'll confuse the night time training. :(

Barbeasty · 05/09/2013 09:09

I don't know quite what time A woke up, but I was woken from a deep sleep and it was dark. So it wasn't until half way back from the cot to my bed that I realised I was carrying him upside down Blush

Then he woke again at 4.10 which is a new habit that I don't like. I don't really sleep properly then until I have to get up at 5am. I'm really tired.

itsMYNutella · 05/09/2013 09:10

mumof we do weetabix with milk & fruit or just fruit or some non sugary Cheerios things. He loves pasta, bread, a bit of marmite or Philadelphia spread on bread goes down quite well. He really enjoys tortellini/ ravioli type pastas - I normally buy the spinach and ricotta ones and then use various types of sauce on it. We normally do porridge for dinner and for snacks I have breadsticks and fruity slice things in my bag and usually a fruity pouch thing which he likes to squeeze all over himself feed himself

Well, last week we had some awful nights and now he is pulling up on things and starting to sit much better so perhaps it was a developmental thing? This week he has mostly woken around midnight for a feed and then slept until 5 ish and then slept again until 7 ish.
I think we haven't got long before more teeth and proper standing... I think I'm excited about it Hmm need to do some more baby proofing though...

We are also still BFing - he loves the boobies Grin.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 09:17

Barbeasty that's hilarious Grin

Barbeasty · 05/09/2013 09:31

He was very gracious and didn't cry. I think we were both a bit confused. Milk soon made up for it!
