Well dd woke at 4am gabbing a bit of a moan (think she needed a wee) which woke ds but they were both in bed asleep again after 15 minutes so the room sharing seems to be going ok. Lie in until 6:15 HmmGrin

IsThatTrue · 01/09/2013 09:16

Bad night again with a 6am wake up. :(

My brain goes round and round with to do lists for house (once finance is sorted we're on, but it needs gutting and starting from scratch) so I'm finding it hard to get back to sleep everytime DS wakes!

halestone · 01/09/2013 09:54

Sorry for the bad night Isthat, but yay to the house news.

Stacks yay to the CC working Grin

Spotty i'm glad the room sharing is going well.

FoD booo the AF starting again.

Willyou, i second the others only do CC when your ready. We have accidently found out that Bruno Mars when i was your man on repeat puts H to sleep. i am starting to hate tht song now though

Utopian i hope you planning application goes smoothly.

Stacks · 01/09/2013 10:08

Well, we had an amazing night. T slept 7-4! Then cried/grumbled till 5, but slept then 5-8!!!! Just 3 nights ago he was waking hourly and I was cosleeping and feeding all night out of desperation. What a turn around. That's the most sleep I've had continuously since I was 8 months pregnant.

Willyou - it took me 2 months to decide to do CC, even with sleep as awful as it was. What decided it for me was concern over DS - if he wasn't sleeping for more than an hour at a time he wasn't getting the sleep needed to grow and develop. With your DS sleeping 8 hours anyway, I'm not I'd do it in your position, particularly as you've tried it and he's not giving in. Have you tried reading "The No Cry Sleep Solution"? It has loads of practical suggestions for getting LO to sleep, things like ensuring the hour before bed is calm, quiet and preferably in dim lighting, making sure your bed routine is predictable so LO knows what's coming.

Good luck on the planning application utopian. I'm not sure what its for though? I didn't read back on the last thread.

IsThat great news on the house. So exciting. I'd love a project like that to do, though my DH would hate it. Will you have builders in or do DIY?

MaMaPo · 01/09/2013 10:21

Isthat - I have missed your house news. Are you moving? Buying your dad's house? Congrats either way! And I'm with you - lying awake at 3am with a thousand things on my to-do list.

Silly husband - we're off to Denmark today and had to sort out the house this morning (changing sheets, tidying etc) as some friends are staying here while we're away. So he stays out last night until 4.30am so got a princely 1.5 hours sleep. I did NOT let him sleep in. I was a bit pissed off with him to be honest - yesterday I got a bit upset as I am beginning to get really jealous of him being able to just head out for a whole day at a time, whereas I am still quite tethered to the baby. He dealt with it really badly, got cross (so helpful!) and then does this. I mean really. Bah. Not in a good mood.

Stacks - so pleased for your good sleep. Ours was OK - she didn't settle until 8.30pm, really odd, then woke for a feed at 4.30 and up at 6. I wish she could sleep a little later! At least she's asleep now. Here's hoping your good nights continue.

halestone · 01/09/2013 10:38

Stacks well done to the good sleep last night, i have my FX many more will follow.

Mama i don't think men understand how hard it is being with a baby all the time. And they definitely don't understand that sometimes we need a time out or that we would like to do something by ourselves just for a little while. I hope your ok and that your trip to Denmark goes smoothly.

Trying to get the house clean with 3 children running round is a nightmare! Lol

Oliver's being v.grumpy today :( dont know whats wrong with him. A new tooth or something maybe?

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2013 12:12

Stacks that's really great!

WillYou I agree with stacks.

Mama what an arse I'd be pissed off too.

Well dp loves the r&r (fb photo to follow). I could tell he really wanted to use it as he kept saying 'are you ok with him? Are you sure? Do you want me to take him?' Grin We've just been out for breakfast and an old lady was amazed by it said I was a dab hand at getting him on my back. He did keep pulling my hair though even though I had it up Hmm

utopian99 · 01/09/2013 13:31

Great news on the sleep stacks!
Planning app is for a dormer loft conversion on the flat we're buying in London. Getting everything ready now so it can be submitted the day after completion (v impatient.)

Sorry about your dh mama, I am very lucky mine quite happily accepts that I get the worse end of the deal doing 24/7 childcare on top of the business but as he still won't take a bottle there's not much we can change anyway!

IsThatTrue · 01/09/2013 13:51

mama we're kinda going into a part but part rent on my parents old house (that my brother has run into the ground). It's a lot of work, I'm happy to DIY decorating but it literally needs gutting, we're relocating the kitchen, the bathroom needs redoing (including tiling) some walls need re plastering. The roof needs some attention and it needs re rendering. The garden isn't safe as some of the steps have corroded so that needs sorting. There's a shed that is only for for demolition. All the windows need replacing. If I get my way we'll be changing the rear access so that it won't be through the (new) kitchen.

Just lots and lots to do.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 01/09/2013 15:27

Glad you dragged DP out of bed Mamapo. I'd loved to have seen the poor dear's face Grin

Wow that does sound like a lot of work IsThat.

Sod the cleaning Mamato3.

Thanks for the CC advice everyone. I think I'll wait a while.

Took DS swimming today and bumped into DBiL in the pool. His DS had what looked suspiciously like slapped cheek Hmm but DBiL kept insisting he was just hot. I know nothing about slapped cheek but it had better not come between me and my holiday!

Anyone else's DC having what seems to be a huge growth spurt? DS ate everything thrown at him yesterday plus almost 1L of milk (inc 2 night feeds, not done that in months). He has been unfillable for a couple of days. Teeth are still making him miserable and he's not stopped moaning all weekend.

MamaTo3Boys · 01/09/2013 15:46

Wish I could willyou :( house is in a disgrace! Haha not have chance to have a proper whole house clean the past few weeks with the kids being off school. May leave some of it till Wednesday when they go back though Wink

Barbeasty · 01/09/2013 17:56

Mama I'll join you in the need to clean. The house is a pit, and I've got at least 1 of my nct group coming over tomorrow.

First swimming lesson of the term today. Not too bad, given the utter lack of practice.

Utopian & IsThat sounds exciting. Good luck to both of you.

And Utopian, I like the didy fish. I've got steel blue fish.

ISpyPlumPie · 01/09/2013 18:13

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL for a bit - broadband went down, then we went to Anglesey for a few days as PIL kindly lent us their caravan.

Had a lovely time while we were away, just nice to be able to chill out and not think of the thousand and one things I should be doing round the house in the rare moments that both DC are occupied/asleep. Only problem was that the caravan is quite a confined space for N's endless cruising/exploring and he's now sporting a small shiner under one eye.

N seemed to come on quite a bit when we were there. He'll now stand completely unaided for a few seconds, before realising what he's doing and plonking right back down. The 'mamas' are much more consistant and he will repeat it as he's crawling towards me if I've dared to put him down momentarily. DH appears to have been re-christened "ba" and babbling in general seems to be comprised of more definite sounds. He is developing a temper though - he will yell if something doesn't go his way and DH got a slap for the crime of taking his toothbrush away.

Oh and N has also discovered his willy Grin

WLmum · 01/09/2013 19:25

Exciting house plans utopian and isthat no wonder you have lists going round your heads! We bought this house on the condition that we could re-work the ground floor - work was completed just a couple of weeks before T was born - phew! Washing up in the bath at 8 months pg is no fun! It was hard and has left us totally broke but we love it and the house would have been really tough with 2 dc and a newborn in the old layout.

Am putting a v tired T to bed first tonight - big 2 have snuck in and are sitting in the corner- ah bless!

3boys - clean house? I know the words but forgot their meaning!

WLmum · 01/09/2013 19:26

ispy if it is slapcheek don't worry too much, it's a mild virus, my big 2 barely noticed they had it. Fx it's not though!

Stacks · 01/09/2013 19:51

This CC was going so well, and we're getting amazing sleep with it, but I feel so guilty tonight. I'm worried I'm not doing it 'right'. T cries when I put him down, but only intermittently, so I don't go in. However tonight it was 20 minutes of crying, and his poor throat sounds so hoarse. He only cries for a minute or two before going quiet for a minute or two, so it's really hard to follow the CC timings. Should I go in more, even if he's not crying non stop? It all started so easily and worked so quickly that now I feel trapped and like I can't stop, and paranoid that if I do it wrong it won't work :(

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2013 19:55

Oh stacks Sad I'm not sure what to suggest really. I would probably only go in after 2 or 3 minutes of continuous crying (or however many minutes you're doing)

utopian99 · 01/09/2013 20:49

Can't help with advice stacks but hope you and lo are okay by now...

Ispy I'm so Envy of your talking! We have almost mastered walking (keeps launching off on his own, this will only end in tears), but nothing even vaguely like words.
Dh is trying to teach him 'mummy' but not a consonant yet.

utopian99 · 01/09/2013 20:52

I have just emerged from resettling O to dh halfway through shaving having given himself a comedy tache he was so pleased with he waited outside the nursery to show me. It was pretty amusing. (I'm really not sure we're at all mature enough to have our own child...)

PurplePidjin · 01/09/2013 21:32

Evening all Wine we're finally back from Santa Pod - got caught for an hour on the M40 Sad R was a huge hit with all our veedub mates, charmed the socks off even the hardcore big toughies! (one ex footie hooligan, one babyphobic lesbian) He loved all the big cars, and we even had a civilised meal in the hotel with wine (for the grown ups) :o i had to have my pudding in the room because i was shattered He still wakes x3 per night but it's down to 5 minutes of cuddling with a feed at 4am. He was dropping off the 0.4th line at 5 months and is now nearly 25th so i think he's just growing. Bit fed up now, dp and i are both small so i wasn't expecting to breed a giant!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 01/09/2013 21:48

It was me not Ispy WL with the slapped cheek. I only care if it stops us getting on a plane to Spain but if it's only mild I presume it won't.

Grin Utopian, for movember DP grew a dodgy tash and used (jolene) moustache dye to bleach it. Everyone said he looked German.

Fucking nightmare bedtime tonight, I may look into no cry ss, as I gave cc another go (he was exhausted but would not sleep) and he just kept climbing up the cot wailing. I gave it up as a bad job after 1h 45m and he's finally asleep now. Confused

WLmum · 01/09/2013 23:02

willyou sounds like the no cry ss might be worth a try for you. It talks a lot about gradually changing things. It would be a slow process but hopefully a less harrowing one.

stacks I think if you go in with intermittent cryin you run the risk of disturbing his attempts at self settling and maybe confusing things. I would either only go in after a couple of mins of continuous crying or sit with him quietly from the start and only leave when he's asleep/not crying at all. Easy for me to say though I know, and so tough to be in the middle of it.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2013 01:53

Ds' wide awake Sad not sure what to do. Had to bring him into our room so he didn't wake poor dd up. I'm getting Angry with him I just want to sleep!!
