Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
curlyclaz13 · 16/08/2013 17:53

major rookie error got half way to mums and realised I had left the changing bag at home and no time to get it. Cross your fingers for me !

Littlemissexpecting · 16/08/2013 22:14

Curly ds is sleeping more after jabs too. He is also pretty placid, watching me hang washing out, make dinner, run bath etc quite happily.
Not needed calpol thankfully.
Hope everyone has a good wkend.

MadameJ · 17/08/2013 08:12

Good morning all. I am chuffed to announce that we had our longest stretch of sleep - 6.5 hours quick feed and back to sleep. Unfortunately I had to get up with Dd1 otherwise I would still be asleep now ♡

pinkapples · 17/08/2013 08:53

Awww well done Madame I bet your feeling lovely and refreshed hehe I'm waiting for Theiah to wake up she fed at 2.30 and is sleeping beautifully

We went for dinner last night tho and there was lots of pass the baby and loud noises as the restaurant just got louder and louder so she's probably enjoying being in a quiet space Grin

curlyclaz13 · 17/08/2013 12:10

how do you get them to sleep so long ! ? we are still pretty much on two hour feeds overnight.

After the epic snooze yesterday afternoon he was awake until about midnight so made up for it. Thankfully we survived at mum's without needing to be changed. Grin

MadameJ · 17/08/2013 14:04

Curly, usually dd feeds every 2 hours overnight but yesterday was a really busy day with very few proper naps followed by a mammoth cluster feeding session, unfortunately I don't think it is something she will repeat tonight!!

curlyclaz13 · 17/08/2013 14:29

Out of curiosity those who are getting longer sleeps are you on formula ?

MadameJ · 17/08/2013 14:59

I'm ebf Curly (although not sure if I actually qualify as having a long sleeper after just 1 night!!)

SunnyL · 17/08/2013 16:04

We're BF and getting the longer sleeps.

Has anyone started doing these dream feeds? Can't decide whether we should try it as I'm already pretty happy with the amount of sleep we're getting and worried it might disturb her too much.

Steffanoid · 17/08/2013 16:45

we dreamfeed. he literally doesn't wake when we pick him up for it

hedgehogy · 17/08/2013 17:38

Curly, we're bf too and getting long stretches of sleep (we had a record 7 1/2 hrs last night without doing anything differently!). It's since we started a routine at 6 weeks of bath, feed and bed every night.

hedgehogy · 17/08/2013 17:41

Also, the cluster feeding stopped at around the same time that baby started sleeping for long stretches, so I don't know if that's because she's feeding more efficiently now.

Hawkmoth · 17/08/2013 19:57

We're mixed feeding and getting long stretches, but often DH is asleep by the time she needs the last top up so she's not actually having one before the sleep every night. Am still totally paranoid about weight gain though so struggling with how many bottles to give, wanting to stop formula :(

This morning she woke me up with screaming after having pushed herself head first into the bars of the crib. She's got a bruise! Can see now why they sell bumpers despite the risks.

curlyclaz13 · 17/08/2013 20:27

We haven't started a routine yet, need to buy a monitor then will try when OH is off in a couple of weeks, I am managing ok with the sleep I am getting for now and Oscar is happy as far as I can tell.
He has started scooting too, last night after his first sleep in the crib I found he had moved all the way up so his head was touching the end of the crib. He can't scoot if hi feet are covered so changed him into an all in one and he didn't scoot off ! he has nearly come off the changing mat a few times as well. Escapee babies already !

DontmindifIdo · 17/08/2013 20:47

DD is formula fed, but she's not taking the full amounts she's supposed to be taking - so I think we're going to be going a while before she sleeps through... Saying that, last night she went from 10:30pm to 4:30am - I remember this with DS, he didn't just drop the night feed, it got later and later (DD started at 2, then it was 2:30, then 3:30 and now last night 4:30) - the tricky bit was when it got to about 5:30am, and I couldn't get him back to sleep - at least this time round I'm prepared that in about a month's time I'm going to have very early starts to the day with DD Sad

Found last night hard because DS was having nightmares (apparently they were having a bike race and a big scary tiger was trying to steal the bikes) - so he was up for an hour in the night as well - not at the same time as DD so it was 2 lots of them to deal with (DH managed to sleep through all this!)

DD doesn't seem to want to sleep in her cot, has anyone else got this? She'll sleep in the sling, the car seat, her pram (but only if it's moving, no sneaky pushing for 10 minutes then parking her in the hall for a couple of hours), my arms, our bed, but not hers. I've got her to sleep by cuddling her in our bed, have just relocated her to her cot, but not holding out much hope for this lasting...

Oh, and today I had my first trip without her (not counting times I've just nipped to drop DS at nursery on days DH is working from home, tha'ts less than 5 minutes in the car) - took DS to see Planes. Must say, he seems to really have enjoyed having "mummy time" without his baby sister there. How are other mums of more than one managing their older one's needs?

pinkapples · 18/08/2013 08:19

Christening today omg so much to do today!

Hawkmoth · 18/08/2013 08:35

Eight hours (without a bottle first)... I have wet the bed, DH and the baby when I fed the first side! Love the smell of milk in the morning...

SunnyL · 18/08/2013 08:35

Well dream feeds are a waste of time. She still woke twice in the night at her usual time.

Good luck today Pink. We've got our christening next weekend any my mum is stressing at me. She doesnt appreciate my more laid back attitude!

curiousgeorgie · 18/08/2013 09:55

We formula feed and are getting long stretches in the night. Usually 11.30 till 5.30 and then back to sleep till 10ish but once or twice 11.30 till 8.30 ish... It's the same sort of pattern that started happening with my DD1 (although she started settling down at 3 weeks whereas Sephy is almost 8 weeks) but we're quite happy with it. I never could manage a dream feed without completely waking her?

Dontmindifido - I'm actually finding it really hard still not being able to spend much alone time with DD1. Sephy is doing well at night but won't sleep anywhere but in a moving pram or my arms in the daytime so we haven't been doing much during the week. Trying to ignore the cleaning etc so I can squeeze in playing with her before Sephy gets up (DD1 gets up about 8.30, so I only get this time if Sephy gets up in the night and goes longer...)
I try to make sure she has really great weekends when DH is around to help more with the baby, Peppa Pig World, Cinema, Birdworld, Minigolf and meals out with all our friends in the evenings last weekend so that should hold her for five boring days with mummy Wink

In other news, I went to see Derren Brown last night, has anyone else seen him live??! Amazing! Grin

curiousgeorgie · 18/08/2013 09:56

Good luck with all the christenings! We've got ours in three weeks and so far I've organised nothing!

MrsBri · 18/08/2013 11:38

I'm so jealous of the long sleeps going on. Amy just doesn't seem to want to go without food for that long.

I don't think she eats enough during the day, possibly the same issue Dontmind has, so can't go that long.

If she'd take the 5 x 180 she's meant to be on, rather than 100, 120, 150, depending on her mood it'd be better, I think.

We have a Baptist dedication in November and a christening early next year, I imagine. Not organised that.

We couldn't decide which to have, so will have both!

I wish I could escape my maternity clothes. I'm actually too small for them but too big for pre-pg clothes. It's getting me quite down being fat. :-/ But apart from what I am doing to lose weight I'm not sure there's much more I can do. It's annoying. How's everyone else feeling?

Can't remember what else I should be replying to now either. Never mind!

DontmindifIdo · 18/08/2013 16:22

Mrsbri, yep, dd won't take more than 120mls in a sitting, she should be in 160 Hmm I think that until that increases, we won't be getting more sleep. Debating trying to fit another bottle in during the day, but can't work out when...

Sarah2506 · 18/08/2013 16:56

We aren't in any way religious so no christening. Wonder if anyone else thinking of a naming day? Think would be nice to do something to mark her arrival.
Mrsbri I've lost two of my three stone through mainly walking and breastfeeding. It helps that I have no sweet tooth these days either. Do you walk much by day? We can accumulate eight or so miles just by starting early. Little and often. Nothing too hardcore. I'm back in pre engagement clothes, but no where near pre pregnancy clothes!

MrsBri · 18/08/2013 17:17

Sarah, I've just started ramping up the walking and I do 2-3 miles per day at the moment. I try to go relatively fast too, so about 4mph on average. I've also just got back on the cross trainer today, so that'll help with toning and weight loss.

I think I'd get bored walking around Southport for 8 miles a day to be honest!

My plan is to just do 15 mins per day on the cross trainer with at least 30 minutes' walk on top until we go to my parents' next weekend. Walk more while we're there, then up the cross trainer to 30 mins per day with at least 30 minutes' walking on top when I get back.

I've not been able to do too much before this week as my stomach was still pulling quite a lot inside. As long as it's gone before I go back to work, that's my aim!

Dontmind, that sounds about right for feeding. We're demand feeding, so no chance of fitting another feed in. If Amy hasn't asked for it she won't eat it. :-/

She's turned into a clingy baby again today. But according to Wonder Weeks we are just into a 2 week grumpy period. Made worse by the imminent arrival of teeth. And jabs to come on Wednesday. Happy week ahead!

OP posts:
Sarah2506 · 18/08/2013 17:36

4mph is going some but probably no bad thing! I dress in workout gear when we go walking so I can go fast and get sweaty! I drive out of town and so I can walk in different places which helps with motivation. I also express and leave a bottle so I can go to the gym a couple of times. My first cross trainer type exercise was exhausting! But it got easier. The main problem I have is that in the absence of stomach muscles I get very bad back ache which is quite limiting.
