from Wednesday morning Shock

Mrs81 · 29/09/2013 22:30

Shock !

Mrs81 · 30/09/2013 04:07

Sob. I think we've hit the next wonder week, complete with sleep regression. And I hid the book from DS. How did he know?!

Hope others are having better nights Smile

rrreow · 30/09/2013 13:13

We've had about a week of 2 hourly night wakes/feeds, but last night he went for two 4 hour stretches so I feel human today! WOOOO!!

Olimoss · 30/09/2013 14:30

Hullo! Being quick as we are now off to catch the redeye to Sydney (total air travel professionals innit) but (i) survived long-haul with J sleeping 8 of the 10 hrs of the long leg, albeit in my arms (not allowed in bassinet if seatbelt sign on), (ii) it took 4 days for him to get his routine back, (iii) he's trying hard to roll over at moment, (iv) he thinks fart noises are hilarious, (v) doing ALL the feeds and care on your own is bloody knackering, and (vi) babies are amazingly resilient. I've used half a tube of under-eye concealer in a week, J hadn't needed any.

Hope all good with you all, and trust you're dealing with as much drool as I am. Not heaps fun.

Hooroo cobbers...

pinkbear82 · 30/09/2013 16:32

Oli your post made me smile! Glad you survived... Stock up on concealer at duty free when you come home!

Just had our second lots of jabs here, dd now sound asleep on me on sofa - quite glad at I had my flu jab at the same time.
We are sat on one cushion on a rather large sofa as have had to wash covers and sponge seat cushions off.... Puppy decided it was ok to wee on the sofa Confused silly pup.

Hope all well.

pinkapples · 30/09/2013 22:24

Oli congrats on surviving! Any babies rolling reliably yet? Theiah's 16 weeks on Thursday and we have a roll onto her side from back to front but she can't get her arm out to do a full roll she's giggling lots which is so lush! Our babies r growing!!

Steffanoid · 30/09/2013 22:44

we can get onto our side just about at 15 weeks Wednesday
ethan is getting very good at sitting as long as there's something at the bottom of his back he loves it and he loves to slobber all over my hand/thumb Hmm

MrsBri · 30/09/2013 23:38

We're going straight to standing! Amy isn't interested in rolling at all. If she's on her tummy she's trying to crawl and if she's on your lap sitting she prefers to stand.

We have lots of giggles too. It's lovely.

Oli, your flight sounds like it went well. I'm glad J settled well too.

Another baby who would like to stand (all day long, given the chance). Sitting is going quite well but he's only half-heartedly tried rolling a couple of times.
(he's 16w on Thursday)

curlyclaz13 · 01/10/2013 09:00

Oscar rolled onto his front at 12 weeks and then onto his back at 14 weeks. He has only rolled onto his front about 5 times since though ! no signs of sitting, unless I prop him up, have any of you encouraged it in any way ? and yy to being held up all the bloody day

Sunbeam18 · 01/10/2013 09:15

Dying here - a whole week of barely any sleep. K waking at least every bout from midnight onwards. I don't know how to cope with this. He's 14 weeks today. Anyone else experiencing this at this stage? He had been going about 7 hours straight before this happened.

Sunbeam18 · 01/10/2013 09:16

Hour not bout!

Mrs81 · 01/10/2013 10:37

Oh that sounds tough :( Sympathy more than useful advice from here.
We have random nights like that but they're usually because sproglet is feeling under the weather about something (immunisation hangover/a cold/reflux). I usually end up bringing him into bed with me and we both get more sleep that way...he seems comforted by it anyway.

rrreow · 01/10/2013 11:08

Google 4 month sleep regression! It doesn't help with the sleep deprivation but it'll explain what is going on developmentally which I always find makes it much easier to deal with, because at least it's normal.

Z had his jabs yesterday morning and then in the evening slept from 6pm-11pm! He NEVER sleeps more than about 45 minutes in the evening recently, so I got some much wished for time to myself! Got punished with 2 hourly wakings during the night though.. feeling a bit dead today!

curlyclaz13 · 01/10/2013 14:38

Poor Oscar has just epically filled two nappies one after another with orange poo then when I moved him he threw up while throwing his head back and covered his face, eyes and hair. Sad he thinks it is hilarious though.

pinkapples · 01/10/2013 20:06

Sounds like Theiah mrsbri she loves to stand and really bears down she can get onto her side reliably but no rolls yet

Her skin has flared up again, it was much better with the cream we got but today and yesterday it started again so back to steroid creams daily Sad poor little munchkin although it may be due to her jabs that she had on Thursday who knows

Swimming is also going well, not sure if anyone is doing it as I can't remember but to see them properly swimming under the water is fantastic! I was in awe! She has an underwater photoshoot as it's the end of babies 1 so very excited for that

Can't help on the sleep thing I'm afraid Theiah is a little star she goes from 8ish-7am with a feed at 10pm when I go to bed so 9hrs most nights Grin

Oh no about the orange poo although they do somehow always find it funny which does not help, I find when Theiah laughs I have to hide the fact that I'm laughing too!

AlohaMama · 01/10/2013 21:15

Well done Oli, you've nearly made it!

Finding it hard to keep up here. We've been busy buying a car, and (hopefully) finding somewhere to live. Had first visit from health visitor today which went well for both DS and DD. All seems to be good.

No rolling or sitting here, though she probably doesn't get enough opportunity bad mummy

4 month sleep regression? Must look that up. Is this why she's now started waking up twice instead of once per night? Also think the 'dream feed' idea does not work. I feel like she wakes up on her body clock not becuase she's hungry. i.e. she'll wake up at 3.30/4.00am regardless of when she previously ate, and if I give her extra feed at 9.30/10.00pm she still wakes up at 1/2 am, but if I don't do that extra feed she wakes up at the same time anyway. Can we start giving up the night feeds please?

Otherwise she's fine. DS on the other hand is fighting his afternoon nap. A month ago he'd sleep 2-4 hours each afternoon - great time for getting stuff done. And the last week he's only napped once at home and for 1/2 in the car one time. My question: if you don't get those naps how on earth do mums of >1 child ever get anything at all done??? I'm not setting a high standard here, just basic cooking/cleaning/taking a shower type of stuff.

hedgehogy · 01/10/2013 22:02

We've just had 8 days between poos after the 4 month vaccinations! The first set of vaccinations affected her too and she hasn't been the same since (she went from going numerous times a day to going once every two or three days). However, she hasn't been constipated; she's been perfectly happy and the poo has always been runny (she's bf).

DD is another baby that loves standing (she's just turned 17 weeks). She's not interested in rolling, she just wants to stand.

We're lucky as DD sleeps through most nights, she goes to bed at around 9pm though. Interesting about the 4 month regression as she woke up earlier than she has done for months last night.

Mrs81 · 02/10/2013 18:12

8 days?! It must have been like having a ticking bomb Wink

Does anyone know about the restrictions on cold/throat remedies when breast feeding? As I understand it, its just decongestants to avoid... I am lugied

curlyclaz13 · 02/10/2013 19:57

hedghogy I was getting nervous about going out at 4 days with no poo in case of an epic poonami I think I would be very twitchy by 8 days.
OH is bathing Osk and they are having way too much fun I keep telling him it is supposed to be relaxing and winding down time.
saying that he is now whistling the waltz of the blue danube at him Hmm

well I will cross my fingers for better sleep than last night where he woke at 1.30 and hardly slept after. Shock yawn.

RueDeWakening · 02/10/2013 22:01

Mrs - sadly pretty much as when pregnant I think. I'm also all germy, it's not nice!

Aloha - cbeebies makes a marvellous babysitter, and all my intentions about not letting PFB watch TV until the evening went straight out of the window! Also, I just used to get her to help - now DS1 helps with stuff during the day, he's very good at sorting washing and emptying the dishwasher :o

We also have no rolling, or any signs of it. He's plenty of chance to try, but doesn't seem interested so far. Not much sign of sitting - he likes sitting up in the highchair, but isn't balanced so kind of slumps after a while. We use a cushion to hold him in position in it. He loves the bumbo, and is a nosy parker, really started looking around and noticing stuff now. Also, he's very verbal - lots of coos and gurgles, he's fab!

Mrs81 · 03/10/2013 00:00

Hey ho Rue. I feared that might be the case. If I feel perky enough in the morning I might swing by our HV drop in to double check. Hope you feel better soon Brew

Sproglet has my lurgy. He's boiling (and now calpol-ed). I'm shivering (and paracetamol-ed). DH is immune thankfully!

curlyclaz13 · 03/10/2013 08:15

we were heading for another terrible night last night waking every hour then 10 minutes feed and another 30 tp settle at 4 o put him on his front and he has only just woken, almost 4 hours sleep Shock

AlohaMama · 03/10/2013 08:56

sorry for the rough night curly and for feeling so grim mrs. hope you get over it soon.

thanks for the advice rue. Have to admit, as I write this DS has just finished watching octonauts on my laptop so i could do some cleaning! Not sure how much 'help' he is right now, though i do try to have him at least tidy up his own toys.

i have decided my thinking that dd was waking up on body clock not from hunger was right. Tue night, she woke at 2 as usual, i gave her a dummy a few times and eventually she fell asleep. she woke at 4 as usual but i think i must have fallen asleep so she went back to sleep till 7. Last night she woke at 2 but fell back asleep pretty quickly with no need for dummy, same at 4, then woke at 7. Lets hope this is a new pattern!
