Survived leaving dd for weekend, despite her having an awful cough. Phew.

Glad you've mentioned hair loss, mine is awful atm, plug hole is awful after a shower!

Off to catch up on snuggles, will catch up soon x

Sarah2506 · 22/09/2013 20:24

Hair loss is unbelievable here! Those of you ordering jumperoos, are you aware you are giving up your lounge? It's frickin huge! Polly seemed to like it but she's not really big enough yet. I wouldn't pay 100 quid for it! The amazon offer or eBay is the way to go!

AlohaMama · 22/09/2013 21:14

Sarah that's why we sold ours after ds grew out of it and I'm not getting another one. I couldn't find anywhere to put it where it wasn't in the way. DS enjoyed it though, but DD will just have to cope without. cruel mummy!

pinkapples · 22/09/2013 21:50

Hehe I thought about space luckily we have a corner space where it will go then when she's to big for it it will go to the nursery where I work Grin I only paid £64 for ours on amazon

Hair loss here to! Every time I wash my hair I get clumps in my hand

SunnyL · 22/09/2013 22:17

I've just been really really naughty. I turned on my work email. I just wanted to know if friends and colleagues in Nairobi were safe (they are thank goodness) but ended up reading lots of other emails I really shouldn't be caring about. Made me giggle though to see colleagues struggling with the same issues I was struggling with before I left. Didn't make me want to go back to work though.

We're not getting a jumperoo (my arms seem to do the trick) but we've been offered a walker for free from someone which I might take. We've got wood floors so I presume it will work well?

Oh and yes to hats for Christmas. Although I've got such stupidly thick hair it will be a while before anyone notices my hair loss.

Olimoss · 23/09/2013 08:04

Ha yes with you all on the clumps of hair thing - I solved it by going and getting all (most) of my hair cut off. Feels ace, totally recommend it. No longer do I have a pointless load of long, long hair that just spent its time up in buns or ponytails. Now I have a big shaggy helmet that looks like bedhair ALL THE TIME. I do like it, actually.

The jumperoo is heinous but do think I warned it was! It's taken up permanent residence by our big armchair but the minute J is over it it shall be passed onto our friend who can suffer the decor indignities of it with her kid, due in November.

J and fly out to Australia tomorrow. Suppose I must no longer deny it and get packing. GOD. How many nappies and spare outfits do you think I should take? After having a nice, regular pooing schedule he's gone all over the shop so I won't be able to predict when he's due one - cue high risk of explosions. Uncool on the plane.

drinks all the on-board booze

SunnyL · 23/09/2013 08:11

Oh my god Oli. We're off to Greece on Friday and feeling intimidated by a 3 hr flight. Full kudos to you for contemplating such a long one. Let us know how you get on. Will he be too big for the bassinet thingys?

HungryHorace · 23/09/2013 09:11

Oli, long haul flying may bung him up a bit (or it does me and others I know, TMI!!).

I'd take at least 10 spares, if not 15 for a 24 hour journey plus airport time. How much hand luggage are you allowed? I can't imagine having any left for me if I flew with DD!

I think I'm regretting the Jumperoo purchase already. We may have to move house to accommodate it!

My hair is fine, by the way. I don't appear to be losing excess amounts that I can tell. My scalp has gone itchy though, so I think I've developed an allergy to my shampoo or something. Odd.

HungryHorace · 23/09/2013 09:21

Oh, and maybe 3 spare vest / sleep suits. You can always make a distress purchase en route! I doubt he will have too many poonamis though. Or does he get poo on his clothes regularly?!

curlyclaz13 · 23/09/2013 09:32

It's OH'S Nan's funeral today, crossing my fingers oscar will sleep through it after a car journey and I will pop him in the sling to hopefully keep him calm and contained !
Good luck to those flying soon !

MrsBri · 23/09/2013 09:53

Amy is 3 months old today and so far she has thrown milk up over our bed which meant a bedding change at about 3am and done an impressive poonami which has managed to dye her thigh orange in the few minutes she was sitting in it - smiling and laughing - without me noticing!

At least it was before swimming as those swim nappies don't hold poo at all!

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 23/09/2013 09:54

I hope it goes as well as these things can, curly.

Mutley77 · 23/09/2013 11:07

Feel I'm in a bit of a parallel universe as I don't even know what a jumperoo is!! I assume a bouncer of some kind? Not the kind that goes on a door?

Sorry to hear you are struggling with the weather Aloha - I know the feeling - it has been rubbish weather here in Australia pretty much since DD was born and I hate not being able to get fresh air. Apparently it is the worst spring ever - there are gales and rain. My default wet weather activities in England are walking to a cafe for a coffee/cake/babyccino, visiting friends, swimming, soft play....

Oli - hope the flight goes well. I would take 12 nappies (one every two hours) - and you probably won't use half of them but allows for lots of poos / some delay. I would take one sleepsuit spare (to wear for the "nighttime") and one spare outfit for baby. And don't forget at least a spare top for yourself - my 19 month old (at the time) threw up on me at the start of a 24 hour flight and I had to wear my DH's jumper as I hadn't brought clean clothes - also tmi but vomit was on my bra so I could smell it the whole flight.

Any tips on curing a day time cat napper. DD's nights are not tooo bad (generally only one wake between 7 and 7) but cannot get her to sleep longer than 45 mins during the day - unless I am out and that seems to lull her into a deeper sleep.

pinkbear82 · 23/09/2013 12:43

Think my weekend away might have ended my bf Hmm

I couldn't express as much as I normally fed so think my supply might be down. Dd had some formula and some mixed while away, she's just refused me and taken 5oz of ff and is now contently falling asleep. Ho hum.

What will be will be.

Sunbeam18 · 23/09/2013 16:20

Sounds like everyone is doing really well. I feel like a failure today - we came up north to the countryside near Inverness to stay in a cabin for a few nights yesterday and it feels too ambitious. DS slept about 2 hours from 1am till 9am and we've made every mistake in the book today trying to cope with it. We kept trying to get him to nap until 2pm so we could try to sleep and I'm scared he's now going to confuse night and day again and put up back weeks. Grrr.
Good luck with the flight, Oli. I think I'd take around 7 clothes changes.
Itchy scalp here too! What's that about??

AlohaMama · 23/09/2013 17:18

That's a shame pinkbear. You could probably try building up again by expressing after feeds if you wanted to.

Sounds rough sunbeam - not exactly a relaxing break!

Oli definitely definitely take spare clothes for you too. I normally take a spare top and spare trousers (something like leggings that don't take up too much room). Hopefully the engine noise will soothe lo to sleep. Definitely take more nappies than you think. Remember wtih most airlines you get to take the change bag in addition to your hand baggage + personal item allowance so max it out.

curlyclaz13 · 23/09/2013 18:00

funeral went okish, had to leave halfway through as oscar woke, OH managed to drop oscar in the car seat getting out the car and an epic poonami that ran down his leg into his socks followed other than that it went fine !

Olimoss · 23/09/2013 18:24

Excellent advice, thanks everyone! Totally procrastinating - got various piles of things around the house but avoiding actually putting anything in a suitcase!

denial

Mrs81 · 23/09/2013 18:56

Glad the funeral went ok Curly. It can't have been easy...

Sunbeam - I hope tonight's easier for you all. I'm sure day/night won't be swapped by one rubbish night...

We went to a baby-friendly cinema screening this morning. It was great! DS thought it was fascinating and gawped at the screen for well over an hr :)

pinkapples · 23/09/2013 20:21

My mil dog died today Sad hubby is sad he's had her since he was 12 so she was old and had a good life but its still sad Sad

Bought the jumperoo was delivered today so well see how that goes We have enough space for it (haven't built it as its for Xmas but from what ppl are saying its a good job we have a big house) so excited to start the Xmas shopping and the wrapping Grin

No advice on the cat naps I'm afrai Theiah sleeps 8-7am with one wake and in the day 2 stints of about 3hrs each on a good day

Good luck with the packing I have no idea on how many nappies but the one every 2 hrs sound good x

SunnyL · 24/09/2013 08:29

Oh Pink I feel for your DH. My mums dog was put to sleep a few months ago but she still felt like mine as I'd still been at school when we got her (I'm 33!).

And MrsBri is back . Thought you'd left us.

Didn't sleep well last night. Someone tried to break into our house last week and last night I kept thinking I'd heard something. Horrible feeling.

Sarah2506 · 24/09/2013 08:51

Right ladies. Please send positive house thoughts. We have just about sold ours and just about bought a great place. The seller is quibbling about the last 2.5k- they say 452500, I say not a penny over 450000. They are umming and ahhing but the offer we have on ours is way below what I want to take, but I will to get our forever home. So fingers crossed today it will all come together!!

Littlemissexpecting · 24/09/2013 09:42

Pink I'm dreading my parents dog passing, she is getting old. She is very good with ds too.
Sunny it's a horrible feeling once you have been burgled. Have you got a home alarm?
Sarah good luck, hope they see sense and give you it for your price!
Ds has another cold, been a bit out of sorts last couple of days. When is the next growth spurt after 12 weeks meant to be? Is it at 4 months?

MrsBri · 24/09/2013 10:45

Oh no, Pink. It's awful when family dogs due. Our family dog was put to sleep on Valentine's Day 2004 when she was almost 14. We'd had her since I was 13 and it was horrible. My mum won't get another dog as Jodie can't be replaced.

Sunny, that's nasty re the attempted break in. Was in at night or during the day? Do you have an alarm? It's horrible when things like that happen.

Oh, I've not been anywhere really...but you know how it is with midgets!

Good luck, Sarah. It seems mad to argue over that amount taking into account how much the house is. Fingers tightly crossed.

Amy had a disturbed night last night. I can't see how she'll ever sleep through as she's so bloody hungry over night. I'm also trying to make sure she gets her naps during the day as I think she was sleep deprived a bit. This meant I walked about 7.5 miles yesterday. My feet hurt today!

Thankfully we have no plans as such today. :-)

pinkbear82 · 24/09/2013 10:51

Ok, I may smell like I'm eating curry non stop but the fenugreek is being taken, fennel tea makes Confused that kinda face but is being drunk. So far so good - we are having a day of doing nothing except concentrate on getting bf going again.

She also has a nasty cough and is quite chesty with that, so thinking rest will do her good. She has found her feet as well which is so cute!

Hope everyone has good days
