New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sunbeam18 · 20/09/2013 17:21

Just expressed for first time (I know, late to it at 12 weeks) and K took bottle from his daddy. My life opens up air punch

DontmindifIdo · 20/09/2013 20:12

ooh, now I'm just outside London, but normally happy to come in for hte day, however the 24th is a Thursday so I'll have DS with me. a 3.5 year old toddler is a lot harder to contain during a coffee cake meet up with than a baby.... can someone PM the details and I'll see if we can make it? (might see if MIL will have him for the morning/afternoon)

DontmindifIdo · 20/09/2013 20:12

(realises I've shamelessly invited myself)

Sarah2506 · 20/09/2013 20:30

Ha, no worries! There are only three of us so far and we will likely go to John Lewis on Oxford street. No other details to PM!

arlandria666 · 20/09/2013 21:25

weaning scares me :( think I am going to wait....Elliott is 4 months on Monday but waiting for a dietician to get in touch due to his intolerance...I am still dairy free got a good stock of frozen milk to use when I do eventually wean if I go down the puree route...still umming and arring over baby led weaning...think I should start thinking about it properly eeeek!!
can't believe we are talking about weaning already...the other night I couldn't sleep and read our first thread!! weird knowing that this time last year I was 1 week pregnant...none the wiser and now I have a giggling yummy baby that shit in the bath tonight

RueDeWakening · 20/09/2013 22:16

Depending on what time, I might be able to make it :o have something until noon, but am (or should be...) free after that, can get DH to do school run etc - I haven't had a day/afternoon out for yonks so I reckon he owes me!

BLW is fab btw, aitch has a site all about it over at www.babyledweaning.com by the way. DD appears in Gill Rapley's book about it (not the recipe book, the original one) and I think it's safe to say that we'll be doing it again :o

curiousgeorgie · 20/09/2013 22:28

I'm hoping I can make it to the London meet up!

I'm in Ewell in Surrey about 15 mins away by train, but am supposed to be going away that week so if it happens I'll have to catch the next one?

I'm suffering today!! Finally have my period after 14 weeks... Didn't even bleed after the birth really, I'm in agony!! I actually think I might cry.. Normal period cramps times about 500 plus a searing pain in my left side. So bad I've actually thrown up. High temperature... Dizziness. Any advice?

SunnyL · 20/09/2013 22:29

Felt like evil evil mummy tonight. After having a lovely evening when Lil rolled for the first time and a long chatty bath she turned into a whiney monster. I eventually put her down, shut the door and turned off the monitor for 15 minutes so i could get somethibg to eat. Thankfully by the time I turned it on she had fallen asleep but I still felt horrible.

DH has been giving her bottles of formula regularly and I think it has affected my supply. Formula was meant to be an emergency fall back but he keeps giving it to her. Last week it was 1 bottle a day. He says its because I havent expressed enough but i dont have as much to express now because he keeps giving formula. Its a ruddy viscious circle.

curiousgeorgie · 20/09/2013 22:30

And dontmindifido - if I can make it my DD is almost 3 and I'd have to bring her too so they could play together! Grin

SunnyL · 20/09/2013 22:34

God curious that sounds awful. Are you sure its just your period? Dont have much advice other than take care of yourself.

RueDeWakening · 20/09/2013 22:45

Ooh curious - I'm nr Sutton, you're practically next door!

I'm not bringing my 3 year old if I can make it - DH can have him for the day :o he's far too energetic to behave himself, even with cake and lemonade thrown in.

curiousgeorgie · 20/09/2013 23:48

My DD1 is literally the most perfect child that ever lived ( pure luck, not my doing!) she is a bread & iPad baby... She never runs around, she's happiest sitting in a chair looking at something, from birth we've taken her to pubs till close, restaurants a few nights a week and Alton towers, Disney Paris, Greece, skiing, Cyprus.... And she will just lay down in a pram. I was blessed.

All my friends now say 'why did you have another one?' While Sephy refuses to lay down, sleep, eat or stop screaming!! Wink

Where exactly are you? You have a baby the same age and a toddler the same age? I feel we should meet! Grin

curiousgeorgie · 20/09/2013 23:49

And not sure if it is just my period, we have people over tonight for movies and dinner and they're all saying I look ill Confused

Littlemissexpecting · 21/09/2013 08:10

Whoever was looking for snow suits, m&s have some nice ones in but not sure how waterproof they will be.

Sunbeam18 · 21/09/2013 08:45

Curious, I'd ring nhs24. Hope you are feeling bit better.

Littlemissexpecting · 21/09/2013 09:21

Curious how you feeling this morning? Linked with dizziness etc I wonder if you have an infection? Is it too late for any retained placenta?

AlohaMama · 21/09/2013 19:39

I promise I'm not completely awol, I have been reading a little but can't seem to find time to post. Not helped by the patchy wifi at my parents where I'm staying.

Hope you're feeling better georgie, doesn't sound too good.

I can't believe everyone is talking about weaning - our babies are growing up!! We can't be nearly there already? I should think we'll do the same as last time - a bit of everything. I don't understand why everything I read is always BLW v. puree as if they are the antithesis of each other, and there are sometimes really harsh criticisms of pureeing food. For DS, after introducing a few foods separately, we would just fork-mash whatever we were eating. At the beginning just one food at a time, but then we started mixing. We mixed up spoon feeding with giving DS things he could hold himself. I didn't think it took any extra effort to puree/mash stuff as it was food we were eating anyway. Anyway just my tuppence worth!

DD slept through last night. Most nights she gets up once in the night to feed, which I don't mind. This morning my boobs were like rocks. Ouch.

Tea and cakes in London sounds fun! Too busy here trying to find somewhere to live. We have, lets see, 3-ish weeks to find somewhere, which is so far not proving easy. Anyone have a nice house in Lymington to rent??!

RueDeWakening · 21/09/2013 21:19

Where's Lymington? (You can take that as a no :o)

Curious - will PM you, meeting up would be good! Hope you're feeling better though.

For snow suits/pram suits, I have a jojomamanbebe one from a few years ago, it's really warm and snuggly - this is the current selection.

curlyclaz13 · 21/09/2013 22:45

can you get coats or suits with 'hands' oscar likes to grip the cover of his pushchair and is going to have really cold hands I don't fancy getting mittens on him (see don't fancy buying a new pair every time we leave the house)

Littlemissexpecting · 21/09/2013 22:49

Curly we have a snow suit that my sister bought us and it has built in mittens think they can be unbuttoned if you wish.

SunnyL · 21/09/2013 23:05

We got a pramsuit from M&S that has buttoned on mittens. Will be a while before Lil can get her hands in them though. Theyre about 4 inches from the end!

Another night of me putting a crying baby to bed but her falling asleep within 10 mins. Im hoping i'm not creating a bad association with her cot.

Mrs81 · 22/09/2013 08:59

We have a M&S pram suit too. I need to source a cosy toes/foot muff thing for the pushchair though, ours came without one. Can't decide if its worth getting the ££ branded one which is suitable for harsh winters (prob sensible given Scottish weather) or get a lighter-weight one that will be more suitable in spring/autumn.

Random question- has anyone else been experiencing a fair bit of hair loss post-pregnancy? For the last couple of weeks mine has been coming out quite a lot everytime I wash it. I've assumed for now that its just some kind of hormone slump...

SunnyL · 22/09/2013 09:18

Yup. If I continue to lose hair at this rate I'll be bald by Christmas!

Mrs81 · 22/09/2013 09:22

Phew (in the nicest possible way!). Hats for Christmas?? Wink

curlyclaz13 · 22/09/2013 17:47

We have just had our first proper meal out since having Oscar ! only prezzo but managed to rock him to sleep and he slept all meal Grin

getting there on sleep and tried him on his front at about seven but freaked out when he went into a really deep sleep and couldn't see him breathing and couldn't rouse him Sad so back to sleeping on his side for now.
