New thread for us ladies. :-)

That's interesting about early weaning with reflux. I'd assumed we would need to stick it out until 6 months. Presumably purees only though?

Might ask GP about it at next reflux review...

Sarah2506 · 18/09/2013 12:07

If you have a look on the NCT website you might find an introducing solids workshop being run locally. We have one booked for November. Also health visitors here run a weaning drop in once a month. Maybe something like that local to you?

curlyclaz13 · 18/09/2013 12:12

back from the doctors, not sure she knows about silent reflux but we are trying infacol for wind for now. stuffing a very healthy choc croissant down before baby massage at one.

SunnyL · 18/09/2013 12:14

Curly we used infacol for the first few weeks and it really helped. Fingers crossed you get more sleep soon.

HungryHorace · 18/09/2013 12:22

I'll see what we have up here. They probably haven't mentioned it as they're thinking it'll be at 6 months.

I can't see DD wanting to wait that long!

pinkbear82 · 18/09/2013 13:11

Snot. Tons of snot. Everywhere. How can one little nose produce so much. How?!

curlyclaz13 · 18/09/2013 16:25

baby massage was good, met a lady who was in hospital with me with her lo. Oscar rolled onto his front for the first time ! that is three firsts in that place now, must be inspirational Grin

Sarah2506 · 18/09/2013 21:23

Down here they invite you to weaning workshops well ahead of six months, so you have the info you need to tackle it when it's time!

I dread it. It's so easy now. Hungry baby. Produce boob. Crack on. The idea of carting around bottles, Tupperware full of finger food etc just sounds like so much hassle!

HungryHorace · 18/09/2013 22:59

I'll ask around to see if we have them. I'm sure there must be something to go to, even if it's NCT only.

DD has been super hungry following her jabs today. Unexpected!

Mrs81 · 19/09/2013 08:47

Morning!

Thanks for the nct weaning tip. There's a class near us next month which I might sign up for.

For those who are dairy-free, my top discovery of the day is Koko dairy-free Original (made with coconut milk). Tea still tastes like tea Grin Tesco had it (in fridges next to soya and almond milk)

In other news, DS has just had the world's biggest puke soaking him, me, and 2 pillows. And now that he's clean and dry is merrily gurgling away to himself. Fingers crossed that was a one off!

curlyclaz13 · 19/09/2013 09:03

Well sleep improved a bit last night eventually he went down at midnight ! woke at 2, 3.40, 5 & 6.30 and has just gone back down. I went for everything in the end infacol, head of cot raised, radio all night and eventually propping him on his side which seemed to do the trick but contrary baby is now asleep on his back !
jumperoo building here today and second injections at lunchtime.

HungryHorace · 19/09/2013 11:00

I'm glad it was better, curly.

DD is a bit grumpy today. Could still be the after effect of the jabs yesterday, I suppose. She's snoozing now, thankfully.

DH has just ordered us a Jumperoo. Good price, isn't it? I've a feeling DD will never want to get out of it. :-)

Littlemissexpecting · 19/09/2013 11:09

Our local sure start centre does weaning courses too.
Jumperoo is amazing!!

rrreow · 19/09/2013 11:12

Sarah, why would you cart around bottles if your baby is breastfed? Or would that be in anticipation of going back to work?

The free surestart (I think?) workshops in my area tend to lean towards baby-led-weaning, which is what we planned with DS1 anyway as I'm way too lazy to make separate food and/or puree stuff and as it turned out he didn't eat pouches or ready made baby stuff at all.

It's lots of fun and really not hard, because the baby just eats what you eat (but without salt). They get their nutrition from milk until 1yo anyway so it's all about them discovering flavours, textures, experience mealtime and learn to bring food to their own mouth, move it around their mouth, chew, swallow etc. I remember one mealtime where we had porkchops and we cut off a long strip for DS1, who didn't have teeth at the time, and he spent the whole meal enthusiastically gumming it. Grin

pinkapples · 19/09/2013 14:17

rrreow Grin at your baby gumming a pork chop! Killed myself laughing GrinGrin may have to give Theiah a chop just to laugh Grin

curlyclaz13 · 19/09/2013 19:56

jumperoo assembled and smalk person installed, he is a bit small so we have popped a book under his feet. He seems to like it but probably not the best night as he has his injections today and he is a bit grumpy.

DontmindifIdo · 19/09/2013 20:16

oh god, not been on the thread a few days and we're doing weaning?!?!? really, we've still not got this sleeping through thing down yet. She's actually not taking much milk in the night, last night less than 1oz, but guessing she needs the cuddles, not the milk! She's still getting over the sniffles and the snottiness (ooh she doesn't like sneezing!), so hopefully once she's 100% she's going to sleep... (DS was sleeping through at 8 weeks, I'm needing sleep.)

Actually on weaning, I'm not sure I can be arsed doing full on Annabel Karmel purees again, so might do BLW with just making a bit more food for DS and just giving her a bit to play with [slattern mummy alert]. Hmm, guess I better dust off the high chair...

DontmindifIdo · 19/09/2013 20:21

Oh and I'm hoping this time round to be a better mummy for first weaning experiences, DS's first taste of food was scoffing half my mint choc icecream when I had him on my knee and icecream on the table chatting to someone, he just grabbed, ate, his little eyes lit up and he grabbed a second handful and stuffed it in before I could stop him. Felt terrible, my friend found it hilarious... Blush

Sarah2506 · 19/09/2013 20:37

Rrreow- jars not bottles!

Littlemissexpecting · 19/09/2013 20:47

Just to let you know Aldi are having a baby event and have loads of tommee tippee stuff, from bottles, bowls, cups etc
Also have some avent stuff, and big boxes of nappies for £7.49

SunnyL · 19/09/2013 21:56

Afraid I wont be joining you all on the weaning thing. Ive decided to hit the pause button on Lil. 3 months is clearly the perfect age and so I'm not going to let her grow up any more. Im just going to keep joining the other antenatal groups around the 3 month mark.

Shes just so squishy and cute right now and gives me such gorgeous smiles. Is the pause button near the off switch?

RueDeWakening · 19/09/2013 22:09

Allo. I've been missing in action, life is busy busy busy, especially now DD is back at school and DS1 at preschool. I barely know whether I'm coming or going most of the time. Surviving on about 5 or 6 hours sleep a night so permanently knackered too.

M is doing great - he loves chewing his fingers, mostly. Well, that and puking. No sign of teeth, no rolling over or any signs of it, no intention to wean him for a couple of months yet. He's got a cold at the mo though so we're all suffering! He's 18 weeks old now (already!).

What's this about London people? I'm in London, what am I missing? :o

lol Dontmind - did he do the full on body-judder as the cold hit? First time DD tried ice cream, she grinned for about 2 seconds, then cried :o was hilarious.

pinkapples · 20/09/2013 06:55

No weaning here either till I think November time I don't want to do it to early as from experience some children regress and I don't have time for that when she's eatin she's eating no messing about but hats off to those trying it good luck let me know how you fair and loving the ice cream story Grin

Theiah has a cold too! How awful is it she's so young and so looks even more cute then you get a snot bomb and noisy sleep Sad

Still haven't ordered the jumperoo however am going to and thanks for the heads up on aldi

Anyone know where I can get a little snowsuit from? Waterproof so we can go out with the dogs and she can still be warm?

Sarah2506 · 20/09/2013 07:20

rue we are meeting for tea and cake in town on 24th October if you want to come??

pinkapples · 20/09/2013 16:28

Just bought jumperoo and vetch ball for Theiah for Christmas Grin anyone got a toy that has balls I'm looking for one found some on amazon but reviews aren't great and I'd like one for her I've seen a volcano one or dinosaur one any opinions welcome?
