New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The shit wasn't too bad. I had two leg fillers, this was just a belly button one!

I have a cold today Sunny, so my DH is also annoying! Neither of us will have a good day today. DD1 has been up since god knows when for her first day back at school. DS is, like every day lately, running about being a pirate. As for baby, her routine was totally destroyed yesterday with two trips out and an afternoon bath. Though she slept, she wouldn't go in her cot until 2am. We have been spoilt the last few weeks... This one hurts!!!

Got her 6-8 week check with the GP later. Since she's ten weeks tomorrow I'm guessing she will pass!

SunnyL · 03/09/2013 08:26

Oh god Hawk you win. That sounds like a tough start to the day. Hope you all survive.

pinkbear82 · 03/09/2013 08:33

Grumps here today too. DP was a first class knob before leaving for work.

Dd and I are back in bed, and quite honestly don't plan on moving, totally not what I had originally planned, but I can't be arsed. Just as well there isn't any chocolate and/or cake in the house.

I don't think I've had a single day with no poo from dd, its pretty much half the nappies I change are filled. Not sure what that says about dd....

Do the 12 wk jab appts get sent to us like the 8 week? We've not had ours through yet, but nurse said it had to be four Callander weeks apart which brings us to the end of this week. So haven't chased them yet, but wondering if I should.

curlyclaz13 · 03/09/2013 09:20

We had our 12 week appointment sent to us for two weeks time when he is 14 weeks and 5 weeks after his first lot.
I hope those of you who have had crap nights/mornings days improve.

HungryHorace · 03/09/2013 11:29

We make our own appointments. The guy who administered the jabs made the next one before starting.

For those of you waiting, who sends them to you?

Hawkmoth · 03/09/2013 11:35

For those of you with baby boys... Here's a spoiler!

Me: What's wrong DS?
DS: I've hurt my winky.
Me: How have you done that?
DS: I've been doing this

pinkbear82 · 03/09/2013 12:01

Hawk that made me smile, boys eh!

HH the doctors surgery sent us our appointment, and I'm trying to remember if the hv said it was the same for the 12 wk. if I could have made myself be arsed I'd be going to the baby group this afternoon and could ask. I'll phone Friday if I haven't had anything through, the post yesterday came at 16.20 so still hope yet!

New pup keeps trying to eat her collar. Give me another baby, how do we block the torture that is puppyhood?!

Mutley77 · 03/09/2013 12:43

We had a crap morning too - pest control people on the door stop at 8am - massive hysteria from me not having a clue whether the poison they're putting down is safe, how to manage the poison, the children, the stuff EVERYWHERE - I think the man doing it felt the same!! DD1 off school over a week now with a dreadful virus; serious cabin fever. She is up and down in the night occasionally too which is not like her.

However DD2 slept from 7pm to 2am - fed - then until 6am. Absolutely amazing for her. If this sticks I will re-try doing a dream feed to see if we can swap the timing of the long sleep but tbh I am happy with this arrangement for now and don't want to jeopardise it. Going from 3 hourly minimum to one night feed within probably 2 weeks is amazing.

DD is entering a great stage (12 weeks) and is playing with her toys a bit, interested in what's going on, holding up her head properly and generally more content.

In Australia they do the vaccinations 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months instead of 2,3 and 4. Not sure why.

The recovery shorts only go so far... HH - they seem to have done all they are doing now and it is getting to warm here to wear them during the day so I am wearing them at night with a vest top, which results in rude comments from DH Grin. I was told by my physio that sit ups are no good - total news to me after all the years I've been doing them - here they focus on the core.

curlyclaz13 · 03/09/2013 20:10

Why are they so. unpredictable ? for weeks Oscar has been awake until around 9pm started a routine last week of bath about 8 then feed and sleep. Tonight he fell asleep at 7 after a feed and is still asleep so routine is out the window ! (hope he stays asleep until 9 so I can watch bake off Grin )

pinkbear82 · 03/09/2013 20:58

Hope the day improved for everyone. I went and brought paint and painted the bench for outside, I love doing things like that and must do it more!

Violet has sort of gotten into a routine of falling asleep by 8.30. She wouldn't feed before hand tonight, but she has been feeding every two hours today so she might well be full. I'll soon tell by what time she stirs for feeding.

Got her check up with the consultant in the morning, I'm guessing as she ain't stopped breathing again things are good Smile but I do want to quiz them over the future, if its likely to have damaged her lungs etc. and if the reflux could have been the cause, and also to say that the doc in a&e could be a bit more tactful with a first time new mum, her ' it was the way you were feeding her, inexperienced breast positioning ' really wasn't a helpful comment. AngryI had just resuscitated my 4 week old daughter, and she was being drilled into to get a drip in her, thank god for the lovely nurse that was there and reassured me it was a freak accident and in no way was I to blame.

Hope everyone has a good night

curlyclaz13 · 03/09/2013 22:21

Well unsurprisingly that didn't last, took him upstairs at 9 and he woke up before I got there and he has not gone back to sleep. I might kill my OH for putting him down so he could play his game. then he decided to come to bed and put tv on when I was trying to get him off to sleep. Angry

pinkapples · 03/09/2013 22:35

We got a giggle today! A lovely little baby giggle when she was telling daddy all about music bugs Grin

She's now asleep has been since 7.30 an has just finished a 6oz dream feed fingers crossed

Hawkmoth · 03/09/2013 22:51

Mentioned cluster feeding to my GP at the check today, thought his eyes were going to pop out. YOU FEED HER FOR FIVE HOURS????? Rather that than night waking.

Grumpy day here. Having a glass of wine.

Devilforasideboard · 04/09/2013 10:25

How's everyone this morning?

Pinkbear what an awful thing to say to you! Hope the consultant apt goes better.

Pinkapples I keep meaning to say a proper hello to you as haven't seen much of you since the Hut of Gloom days. Can't believe this time last year I was just starting treatment!

I have a very grumpy baby who woke every four hours in the night (had been managing two long stretches) and just took about half an hour to resettle in the middle of his morning nap so I'm assuming we're well and truly into the 12 week growth spurt. I think the nap thing was my fault for trying to have a sneaky nap too - it's like he knows! See also settling down with a cup of tea/glass of wine/thinking to myself 'that's him off to sleep now Grin

Hawkmoth · 04/09/2013 10:56

Much better today. Not going to jinx it!

Mrs81 · 04/09/2013 11:42

Morning : )
Think we may have hit 12 wk spurt too. Yesterday was a feeding frenzy!

We ended up taking DS to A&E at weekend because he'd been having blood in his nappies : ( Luckily he's essentially fine but most likely intolerent to cows milk. Have embarked on being dairy and soya free for a few weeks to see if it helps. I really hope it does but in the meantime am dreaming of all the forbidden food...

curlyclaz13 · 04/09/2013 13:04

Mrs81 that sounds scary, hope it is relatively easily resolved. Oscar is 12 weeks today and has celebrated by being on the boob all morning !

curlyclaz13 · 04/09/2013 16:24

I feel terrible, just cutting Oscar's nails and nipped his thumb, poor popsicle screamed like never before Sad

SunnyL · 04/09/2013 16:28

Why do growth spurts = less sleep? Surely growing is tiring therefore they should sleep more. Flawed logic!

Thank god its DHs day off tomorrow so he can share the joy.

Sarah2506 · 04/09/2013 20:01

Hello all, am still alive! Am trying to avoid Internet use at the moment as free time should be spent on job application. I always said I wouldn't bother trying to apply while on maternity leave as I didn't want to go back to a new job. However they've replaced me and so I will likely have to go somewhere different anyway, so may as well apply for something I want. I've always known my job was only kept open for six months, but was quite surprised they actually let me know!

All is otherwise ok. I've got a stuffy cold which makes looking after her hard work. She had one night sleeping 11-7 but clearly was a one off. DH broke his toe rendering him complete bloody useless!

Nearly three months have passed. It's been pretty good. I have really struggled with the lack of community and support I have. I swear when Polly has kids I will be as helpful as I can be! It's not my mums fault but she just has no confidence and no driving licence so if I call for help I would have to wait quite a while for it to arrive. My nct group have been a big fail. All have their family in attendance so never want to meet for lunch or anything. I've felt quite alone really. My post natal group have been a bit better but it's early days with them really.

Went out last week with old friends for the evening. Was amazing! The hangover less so....!

Hope all are well:-)

Mrs81 · 04/09/2013 20:33

I did that too Curly. He was horrified. And it bled Sad

The growth spurt = awake thing is illogical. Also, whilst I think of it, although the contents of the book are useful, I do find the title "The Wonder Weeks" a bit misleading as they are not as wonderful as I'd hoped for Hmm

Blood in nappies seems to have calmed down thanks. A&E were brilliant. They saw him really quickly and were very reassuring that we'd done the right thing to go in.

Its still early days but being dairy free seems to be helping matters. Fingers crossed!!

curlyclaz13 · 04/09/2013 20:42

There was blood here too. My mum phoned just after and I told her, end of the call she said 'try not to kill him' ! told OH when he got home and when he was holding Oscar he asked him if his mummy had been horrible to him.Sad yeah thanks for that, like I don't feel terrible already, and I know they weren't being serious but still !

AmIGoingMad · 04/09/2013 22:18

Hi all! Have to apologise for being rubbish at keeping up to date and posting. I just can't seem to find the time to properly catch up at all at the moment. Am also toilet training DS which is going well but is time consuming bless him!

I hope you're all well and will allow me back when time has settled down a bit!

RueDeWakening · 04/09/2013 22:26

Michael is 16 weeks old tomorrow Shock and has his 2nd set of jabs today (only 4 weeks late...). He's not happy, bless him - temp and grisly although he's currently asleep finally. They were done first thing this morning, and he spent the rest of the day grizzling, randomly stopping feeding to whimper a bit etc :(

And I don't cut his nails, I just bite them off when they get a bit long :o no blood or tears that way!

Mrs81 - blood in nappy isn't linked to the rotavirus vaccine is it? I was specifically told to watch out for it when M had his 2nd dose this morning. Not the end of the world with dairy/soya/CMP intolerance though, as they can often grow out of it around 2 or 3. And you can get formula on prescription (Nutramigen, disgusting smelling stuff!) for him too if you need it eg when you start weaning (or if you FF, obv!).

Mrs81 · 05/09/2013 00:41

Good thinking Rue... I don't think that applies here though as 3wks since vaccinations (and only a week til the next - eeeek!).

I'm not particularly worried about it for now. The chances are (assuming the docs are right about intolerance) he'll have grown out of it before he's old enough for it to be a big issue.

Its a bit of a faff checking food labels but plenty of people have far more extreme allergy stuff to cope with.
