Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That's tough HH!! I hope you manage to get some rest today. I have decided on a pj day for us all today so DD1 is currently getting every single toy out so as you can imagine my front room resembles a toy shop that has being burgled!!!

SunnyL · 31/08/2013 16:55

Has anyone here had mastitis?

Im feeling quite rubbish today. Cant get warm (Im in bed fully dressed with 2 jumpers on) feeling sick. I dont have sore boobs but LO has been feeding more often today and taking ages about it. She normally goes 3hrs between feeds easily but shes fed every 1.5 - 2hrs this afternoon. Or could it just be we both have a bit of a bug?

MadameJ · 31/08/2013 18:09

Sunny I had it last time with DD1 and mine started like that and then progressed into very hard hot boobs and an extremely high temp. It may well be a bug if lo is feeding more so you may just have to wait and see what happens. Hope you feel better soon x

Can I give my baby back yet I think she's broken either that or needs new batteries she keeps waking up laughing then going back to sleep then screaming for a feed in her sleep I'm not sure what happened but the baby I had a week ago has disappeared and been replaced with one that clearly doesn't work properly

hedgehogy · 01/09/2013 10:24

Yes Sunny - mine started off like that too, but I'd go from feeling really cold (despite lots of layers) to sweating like mad. I was advised to drink lots of water, relax more (easier said than done!), feed/ express lots (making sure the breasts are always emptied), put a hot compress on before feeding and to massage regularly. I got rid of mine by doing all of this the first time, but the second time it developed into an abscess because I needed antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon.

Has anyone any experience of freezing breast milk and defrosting it again? We defrosted 4 bags of breastmilk this week and at least 2 went off very quickly (within 24hrs despite being defrosted in the fridge overnight). This caused quite an issue last night when my sister was babysitting as LO rejected the bottle and was v upset. Thankfully she managed to settle herself and slept til 2am like usual. I'd really like to keep freezing milk since its great as a backup but if defrosting it is going to keep causing such issues I won't bother.

Hi all. Finding it hard to find the time to post at the moment. Back from our holidays and now trying to get on with normal life. Struggling with sleep for dd. She is doing great at night, but seems to hardly take any naps, and is just doing a lot of screaming. Now we're back 'home' I'm going to start trying to get her on a schedule and leave her to cry a bit. Not going that well tonight, but hopefully might be better tomorrow. Meanwhile, we're planning on starting to try potty training with ds tomorrow. Should be fun Hmm

Sunny - I haven't recently but used to do that a lot. Are you sure the milk was definitely bad? The reason I ask was that I thought that was happening with some of mine, then realised it was just that the storage bags had a funny smell - kind of sour. When I smelt the bag before filling it, I realised that was what I was smelling, not the milk itself. I found it tainted the milk - even when you poured it out the milk still smelled funny. When I looked online I found others had the same problem. From memory, it was the medela bags that smelled, but lanisoh bags didn't. As I had a medela pump it was their bags I had been using to start with. Anyway just worth checking out.

Now our holiday is officially over, I've promised myself to start watching what I eat and start running. Not feeling too inspired yet though.

pinkbear82 · 01/09/2013 20:16

I may well be wrong but I thought I read somewhere defrosted bm had to be used within 24 hours anyways? Could be well wrong tho.

I have to get back into expressing, as have a hen weekend in 21 days and need to leave enough to get DP and my mum through the weekend....starting it tomorrow. Might give the bags I got a sniff first tho!!

Had a migraine last night, and typically it was the one evening dd decided to feed every hour and scream in between. I couldn't stand the light on and may have definitely did yell at DP to turn the light off there may have been a f word inserted during asking him Ended up sleeping with a cold gel pack on my head, luckily by time I got up properly today it was gone.

Gotta go and collect the dogs from my parents in a bit, but dd has just dropped off and am thinking I might just send DP to do it and not risk upsetting the pattern with dd. ho hum

SunnyL · 01/09/2013 20:37

Thanks for advice re freezing milk. I think the 'off' bottles of milk were about 24-36hrs old rather than the 12hrs the NHS website says. Whoopsie. I think i may also sniff my bags. Ive got lots of pots that i could use instead but used the bags because they took up less room.

RueDeWakening · 01/09/2013 22:46

Evening all, just catching up - been back from my holidays for a couple of weeks but school holidays mean that life is chaos! DD goes back on Tuesday though, and DS1 on Thursday so things should settle down soon.

M is massive - need to take him to be weighed soon, not been for 6 weeks or so. He grew out of all his 0-3 months clothes about 4 days after we arrived in France! Fortunately I'd packed a couple of 3-6m rompers and a couple of vests. He's feeding about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours in the day, but after a bottle of expressed milk at 7ish, sleeps till 11 when DH dream feeds him, then through until 7ish most nights - not every night, but probably 5 times a week. He's also really alert, smiley, and he "chats" so much, it's really funny.

Hawkmoth · 01/09/2013 23:07

Agree Rue... That vocal ping pong they are starting to do is amazing.

SunnyL · 02/09/2013 07:38

It was little girls first night in her cot in her big bedroom last night. I felt so sad to loose her company but she has outgrown the moses basket and there is no room for her cot in ours. It seems that she didnt miss us though as she slept from 8.30-4.30 before waking up at7.30 chatting away in her new room.

My little girl is growing up WAAAAIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL!

MadameJ · 02/09/2013 07:48

Morning all. How is everyone's stomach looking now, I weigh less than before I got pregnant but my stomach is still much bigger and it's driving mw mad. If anyone has any tips they would be great!!

HungryHorace · 02/09/2013 07:51

Oh, Sunny. :-( It's going so fast, isn't it?

I think we will have DD in with us until 4 months and then move her to her own room. I've been told they sleep better on their own room as we aren't there to disturb them.

HungryHorace · 02/09/2013 07:52

Madame, snap. :-( I think it's partly because my muscles split though. I really need to find time to do the exercises I was given. Or for Mutley to send me some of the recovery shorts from Oz! :-/

curlyclaz13 · 02/09/2013 08:08

We have Oscar in his cotbed in our room in a sort of Co sleeping arrangement, right up against my side of the bed with the side of the cot off. We were talking about him moving in to his own room and OH has said it is never happening ! While he still wakes regularly it is easier for me to have him so close, thankfully there is room the house we moved fron a year ago had tiny rooms and I would have struggled with even a crib.
He does manage to turn round so he is across the bed, every time he wakes he has turned !

MadameJ · 02/09/2013 08:22

HH was it just sit ups etc you were told to do?

SunnyL · 02/09/2013 10:17

Hmmm DH dressed Lily this morning in a party frock. Im talking silk dress with petticoats. When i laughed at him he stropped off and got something more suitable. Only thing is its 9-12 months and flipping huge. May have to change her again before we go out as she looksridiculous.

HungryHorace · 02/09/2013 10:31

Madame, I'll put a photo of the exercise sheet on my profile.

Sunny, DH won't choose an outfit for DD, that's my job. Good job by the sound of it!

MadameJ · 02/09/2013 12:54

Thanks HH I will have a good look through later on the laptop. Have you being doing them long a d have you seen much improvement?

Hawkmoth · 02/09/2013 14:58

Sunny... Bobbie is dressed as Spider-Man today! :D

We have no w retrieved all the next size baby clothes from the loft.

Hawkmoth · 02/09/2013 15:04

Woohoo! DH has had to deal with the 48-hour shit.

HungryHorace · 02/09/2013 15:39

Madame, I'm ashamed to say I've not done them yet :-/ There never appears to be time. I'm just trying to lose weight and then I'll see what I need to do.

And yay for DH's dealing with epic shits!

Ours are more like plasticine these days thanks to Gaviscon. :-/

RueDeWakening · 02/09/2013 22:31

Hawk :o how bad was it? I'm hoping DH gets the poonami here - we're currently on no shit since Saturday...

M had finally had his appointment for his 2nd set of jabs through, it's for Wednesday morning. He'll be 16 weeks old, so it's 4 weeks late and 7 weeks after his first set Hmm

SunnyL · 03/09/2013 07:06

DH has a cold. Hes really annoying me.

He also thought he was being nice by going to feed the baby at 6. Except he stood right next to the microphone to do it and wondered why i woke up. Heres a clue. THUMP.....THUMP THUMP.....COUGH...SNIFF SNIFF...THUMP.

oh Im not grumpy in the slightest. Ahem.
