New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sunny I can't do tummy time when she's awake she doesn't like it but when she's sleepy she sleeps longer on her belly x

Hawkmoth · 21/08/2013 10:03

Just put DD in sleeping bag in the hope that it would make her less mobile and warmer... She's a wriggler. She is warmer, but was still at the top of the crib with her head against the bars this morning. No more bruises though, thankfully!

massagegirl · 21/08/2013 10:16

Hello. Sorry not been on for ages! Well at 13 weeks she is sleeping 7.30pm til 5am with dream feed. Still wont sleep in the day but is happy enough to be out and about. I fact went to baby cinema and she did sleep all the way through a very noisy film so maybe that's the answer. I've started spinning classes once a week and a couple of buggy fit classes to try shift some weight but I am always hungry which isn't helping!

Sarah2506 · 21/08/2013 10:20

Hello Aloha and welcome back! What crazy airline was that? Did you have baby on you the whole way? Where you living now?

Flip flops still in use here. It's warm! Nursing covers completely acceptable. I use out and about but not in front of friends and family. Personal choice though!

Sunny, similar here. Fed baby and went to gym. DH fed her then she slept through. So 14 hours between feeds. Pain!!

curlyclaz13 · 21/08/2013 10:27

What is this sleep you talk of ? I think Oscar has about 7-8 hours all in. a couple of hours in the day but not in a block then about 6 at night waking every 2 and this week waking about 5-6 and not going back to sleep. It seems he just doesn't need it as he is happy otherwise.

Olimoss · 21/08/2013 11:25

Welcome back Aloha!

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 11:27

Welcome back Aloha :-)

We have vest and sleep suit plus sheet and single layer blanket here. Our room is about 19 degrees.

Daytime tends to be top and trousers with either vest or cardi plus socks. Though yesterday was a vest only as it was rather hot on our walk back from the HV.

In other news, I've just started my first period in 11 months! It I assume it is as I'm achey and bleeding and my lochia finished a while ago.

LO had her jabs today. Seems OK, if a bit grumpy. :-)

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 11:28

And I want some of this sleep you mention too!

Olimoss · 21/08/2013 11:31

Oh, and J is sleeping in a long-sleeved, short-legged onesie, swaddled in a muslin with a cellusr blanket laid over the crib after about 10pm. I'm def keen on him being too cool rather than too hot...

About to brave the tube again. Pretty sure there are lifts at Russell Square, yes?

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 11:45

The tube map doesn't say it's accessible, Oli.

Olimoss · 21/08/2013 11:48

hmmm I am sure it has lifts....weird.

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 12:15

Maybe they've not updated the map?

I'd forgotten how crap periods are. Grumpy post-jab baby and grumpy me too!

rrreow · 21/08/2013 12:29

Lifts at Russell Square yes, but steps from platform to lifts (about 10-20 steps). There always seems to be someone happy to help though unless it's very quiet.

Olimoss · 21/08/2013 13:36

You're right Rreow - made it to Russell Square ok with help from nice lady up the stairs. No lifts at Hammersmith till December! I dud a comedy step-by-step descent and managed fine....hope I find a helper on the return trip. Up those buggery stairs will suck.

Olimoss · 21/08/2013 13:37

*did

joanna0211marie · 21/08/2013 14:16

Can I join?? Need baby friends! My lo was 5th June.

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 14:32

Welcome Joanna!
So proud ds is still on his play mat/baby gym after 10 mins, he normally gets bored after 2 or 3 minutes we have progress!! I was beginning to think I'd wasted a small fortune in mamas + papas.

Does anyone use nipple guards?

Mrs81 · 21/08/2013 15:10

Hi Smile Room for yet another? DS was born June 13th.

We're mostly getting the hang of things but plenty of curve balls keep us guessing!!

joanna0211marie · 21/08/2013 15:14

I used too, before I stopped bf, had a horrendous time, really cracked nipples, thrush in my boobs, mastitis and an undiagnosed tongue tie made me think this is not for us!

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 15:30

I'm thinking of trying some. Are they pretty easy to use?

joanna0211marie · 21/08/2013 15:42

Yes, the ones from boots are good, think they're about 5 pounds and look like those suction cups that attach to glass and tiles, you just moisten the outer part with milk and they stay put quite well, would only use them one feed on one feed off or 1 day on 1 day off because the midwife says they interfere with supply.

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 15:49

I might pop out tomorrow to get some. Ds has stopped latching on, only wanting bottles for most feeds so its worth a try. Can't be any worse for my supply than not feeding or pumping

joanna0211marie · 21/08/2013 15:55

I tried putting dd back on the breast after using bottles and she just wouldn't take it, I was so sad it didn't work for us, and true about the supply, he's maybe gotten used to the bottle teat filling his mouth so the guards should help

SunnyL · 21/08/2013 16:01

Im beginning to think that Baby Whisperer book may have something. I started following the EASY routine last week and she started sleeping during the daytime. Today i started following their advice on sleeping without aids and its worked - TWICE! Yes yes i know its only 1 day but it makes a change from me pounding thepavements with the pram to get her to sleep.

Sarah2506 · 21/08/2013 19:06

How much are people paying for swimming lessons? I was quite horrified at the suggestion I pay 165 quid for ten lessons! That's in a school pool though. A community pool has lessons at 65 quid for ten but its fair to say the facilities are no where near as good. I'm keen to have lessons so will suck it up but it does seem a lot. I don't want to over commit to endless costly activities before I hit the no pay stage of proceedings!
