New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Welcome devil.
Yep ds now 9 wks and constantly hungry today. Not great when you have been told to express every 2 hrs!!

Olimoss · 20/08/2013 13:43

Ok thanks all - tried a bit in the shower this morning. Not great fun! I'm supposed to be stopping expressing anyway but pretty sure this isn't the best way ....!

DontmindifIdo · 20/08/2013 14:05

Hello Devil!

MrsBri - name change. (also how do I join the FB group?)

Right, development yesterday, I ignored the lying on their backs advice, put DD down on her front and she slept from 8pm to 5am with a dream feed at 10pm (proper dream feed, she didn't wake for it) in her cot - considering we were used to her sleeping only in our bed and in our arms, and only after 10pm, waking 2-3 times a night, this was bliss! So, everything crossed it wasn't a one-off...

HungryHorace · 20/08/2013 19:47

I'd be so nervous putting DD down on her tummy. How did you sleep last night?! Sounds amazing though. :-)

We think the reflux seems worse now, so that may work for us too. Just need to be brave!

Our dream feed didn't help last night. She has less sleep than the night before when she didn't have one. Hmmm.

Her eyes are sore and gunky again now, so we will have to see if we can see a GP tomorrow when we go for jabs. The joy!

DontmindifIdo · 20/08/2013 20:08

I slept fabulously, right up to the point DS had another nightmare at 2:30am and took over half an hour to settle down.

Anyway, put her down on her front again, she's been asleep for 45minutes so far. (keeping everything crossed)

Popped into a new shop that's opened near me today, I tried on a couple of things because DD was having a sleep in her pram (great!) they had those mirrors that can be angled to see the rear view and so while I was getting undressed, I got a good old look at my arse and back of thighs in the mirror, with very bright, unflattering light (not so great). This image has burned into my mind and I now am far too aware of the challenge ahead. This is not helped with the Great British bake off being on the TV, god damn it I want cake and I want to be back in my pre-dd jeans ASAP, these two things are not both possible...

Sarah2506 · 20/08/2013 20:10

HH when you say sore and gunky can you describe? P has gunky eyes but the pharmacist said not to worry. I don't know if its sore. It doesn't seem to bother her, but then little does!

On the sleeping on tummy thing didn't we all do that and survive unscathed? Funny how fashions change....

Littlemissexpecting · 20/08/2013 20:14

Ds sleeps on his front, only way to get more than 10 mins sleep at any time!!

HungryHorace · 20/08/2013 20:17

They're a bit pink, Sarah, so I assume they're sore. They get worse when she's been crying a lot. They've really gunked up this afternoon so need looking at again. I want to make sure she hasn't got another infection.

I'd have to try DD on her tummy during the day first to see how she slept. There's no problem turning her head as she can do that fine.

I'm avoiding mirrors. It's the best way! I'm not in denial. No, not me!

pinkapples · 20/08/2013 20:54

Theiah sleeps on her tummy in the day and we get maybe 3/4 hrs at a time Grin can't complain tho as she is on her back as night (I'm not brave enough for tummy at night) she she goes 9.30-3 then 3.30-8/9am so were doing ok

In other news...

still bleeding lightly Hmm

Tattoo is lovely but now scabby and red so am waiting for the scabs to come off Hmm

Baby's skin is still mega dry Hmm

Hope baby's eyes get better soon and for all those suffering sleepless nights things are bound to improve as our babies get bigger

Steffanoid · 20/08/2013 21:59

hh have you put any breastmilk in the eyes? supposed to be good for them cause of the anti bodies

AmIGoingMad · 20/08/2013 22:00

Welcome devil! maybe we should swap threads as dd was due in june but came in july! nope- cantleave these ladies- they know too much about me! but welcome devil- they're a lovely bunch here!

Ha don't mind! I'm the same with wanting to be in shape again whilst also eating copious amounts of nicies! I think the achievement of fitting in pre preg jeans at the moment is lessened somewhat by the fact that they were probably the 'interim' ones I bought after DS!!!

As for gunky eyes- same here! We had ointment first then a few weeks later some drops and things seemed to clear up but now gunky again!!! I would definitely say tho- protest if they try to give you ointment as that's soooo much more difficult to get in correctly than drops!

Has anyone heard anything from aloha? She hasn't been around in a while and must be due to move soon.

Sleep wise DS slept on tummy from second he was able to roll onto it so it'll be interesting to see if dd does the same.i spent night after night attempting to roll him back each time only to give up after the tenth attempt. It's always the position on me that they've been most settled in so I shouldn't be surprised that's his they choose to sleep really. DS still sleeps in tummy at 2.5!

AmIGoingMad · 20/08/2013 22:01

X post- no breast milk available here undfortunately!

HungryHorace · 20/08/2013 22:05

I was wondering about Aloha too. She must be in the UK thereabouts? They were having a holiday before coming across, iirc, so maybe they're on that now.

I'm sure she will be here soon :-)

MadameJ · 20/08/2013 22:07

Another tummy sleeper here but only on the day, thankfully at night she doesn't mind sleeping on her back!

AlohaMama · 20/08/2013 23:29

Hi. I'm back! I have tried to keep up but no time to post. We got back to England yesterday afternoon, after a busy week of shippers coming, moving out, staying in Waikiki for three nights (less glamorous than it might sound with all four of us in one tiny room - ds was relegated to the bathroom to sleep while did slept on a towel on the floor!). The flight was actually OK despite airline being a PITA and moving our seats we'd booked months ago. They'd actual,y assigned our 2 yr old ds to sit by himself 12 rows behind us whose genius idea was that? And we lost our bulkhead seating and hence bassinet. Anyway we're here now and are nearly unpacked into my parents house. Ds has copec remarkably well with the transition to living with granny and grandad (who he'd only met 3 times before) and sleeping in a big book bed. Amazingly he's still stayed in bed and had good naps. evie is bit more unsettled last night. I think she was cold, though maybe jet lag too, with the 11 hr difference.

So what are your lo's all wearing in bed? How many layers of clothes and blankets? And what about in the day? I'm trying to figure this all out.

And are using nursing covers acceptable do you think or should I try to master the subtle approach?

And where can I buy new shoes - I only own flip flops Grin and so the reverse culture shock begins.

I guess I should name change too.

Sorry for ,long post.

AlohaMama · 20/08/2013 23:32

And all the typos. I'm sure you can figure it out. Ds sleeps in a big boy bed. Not a book. That would just be mean.

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 02:32

Aloha you must be exhausted!
Ds is wearing a vest and sleep suit for bed, no sheet yet as temp in our bedroom is 28c/83f according to the thermometer. We have some gro bags for when it gets cooler.
During the day we are either in the same, or just a vest, or a romper suit. Started getting cold feet so sometimes wearing socks too.
My ds is very changeable at the moment, he no longer self soothes to sleep but needs rocked in my arms to sleep. He really fights it too pretending he's hungry but then he over feeds and is sick.
Introduction of powder formula not going down too well, cue multiple nappies and sick = multiple change of outfits. But my milk is nearly zero so not much we can do. Trying to express as much as possible.

pinkapples · 21/08/2013 03:49

Nice to see your back in the UK aloha and nearly settled. In and the flights were ok it sounds like you had a time of it

Dd is wearing a sleepsuit and then swaddled in blanket at nighttime were quite cool here at night then in the day we have outfits either trousers or tshirts or dress and cardi

pinkapples · 21/08/2013 03:50

Do let us know if you name chAnge but I don't suppose ukmama has the same ring to it Grin

DontmindifIdo · 21/08/2013 07:21

Aloha, welcome back! Dd is in sleep suit with one blanket at night, her room is very hot so would rather go with a bit cold than too hot.

Second night with dd on her front, and she slept 7-7 with a quick feed at 3:30 - think this is working for us.

AmIGoingMad · 21/08/2013 08:37

Hello aloha! I'm glad the big move is complete!

Dd wears Sleepsuit and has one cellular blanket at night. Daytime is a bit more confusing to be honest as the weather here doesn't seem what it's doing so I either overdress or underdress her daily! Generally vest, t shirt, leggings. Sometimes cardi.

I got some bargain flats on asos which also avoided the shopping with two little ones!

Dd only woke once last night! Yey!

AmIGoingMad · 21/08/2013 08:39

I'm still mostly in flip flops and denial! And I'm pretty sure feeding covers or subtle are approach are bit fine here too. I'm not bf ing so hopefully someone more knowledgable will help you out with that one.

AmIGoingMad · 21/08/2013 08:40

*both not bit

SunnyL · 21/08/2013 08:50

My boobs are about to explode! I went to Zumba last night and DH had already put her to bed by the time I came back. I expressed a bottle before going To bed as DH has been away and wanted to do a night feed. She then slept for 7.5hrs so in 12 hours I've fed her once and I've got to pop to the Drs this morning for my implant so still can't feed her. It's going to burst my bra in a minute on the right side!

Impressed you lot can even put your babies on their tummies. Lily screams blue murder if I try to do a bit of tummy time with her.

Anyway the best news ever is I got a stitch at Zumba last night. This is ace as it means I actually have some form of stomach muscle in which to get a stitch! Small things people, small things.

MadameJ · 21/08/2013 08:51

Aloha welcome back! Dd sleeps in a sleepsuit and is swaddled in a blanket, I sometimes add a lightweight sheet on cooler nights. I use a nursing cover as I have an extremely strong let down which tends to leave poor dd choking and me leaking everywhere so it's much easier for us. A lot of people say that the covers draw more attention to what your doing but it's personal choice.

My amazing baby slept 10-5:30 again last night so I'm starting to think it wasn't a fluke. It's so strange as dd1 didn't sleep through until she was 16 months and I have done nothing different!!!
