New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We're paying £140.00 for 14 lessons at a private pool. It's Puddle Ducks, a national franchise. Who's the provider of yours? I suppose London would be dearer though. I think a friend I met in Conception who lives on the outskirts of London said hers are something similar.

Mrs81 · 21/08/2013 19:17

That seems like a lot of ££. We haven't signed up yet but there's classes near us that are c£45 for a block of 8 lessons. Not sure what the best age is to get them started in the pool though. Any ideas?

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 19:18

We're also doing puddleducks after a recommendation. Price varies per pool here so some pools slightly cheaper per lesson. Some are schools and some are hotels.

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 19:46

Anyone who's had a period, was it lighter than your pre-pg periods. This one is already tapering off. Hurts though :-/

joanna0211marie · 21/08/2013 20:14

My period started extremely heavy for 2 days, light for another 2 then stopped, im on blood thinners though for a dvt

DontmindifIdo · 21/08/2013 21:03

oh god, just had my first baby period, stupidly heavy the first 48 hours - as in, not been that bad since I had a miscarriage last year. Also v crampy and painful. I've not been a nice person to be round.

On better news, DD is on night 3 of sleeping in her cot, before 8pm and staying there! Wooo!!!!

does anyone want depressing? Towie star who gave birth in June photographed out last night (warning - daily fail link) She must be wearing 3 pairs of spanxs, that's not what she looks like, right? right? Where's her mummy tummy gone?

DontmindifIdo · 21/08/2013 21:04

sorry, that should read "first post baby period" !

pinkapples · 21/08/2013 21:06

Welcome newbies mrs81 my daughter was born 13/06 aswel Grin

Sarah were paying for swimming 60 for a 5 week course a bit much but hopefully will be worth it :-)

Littlemissexpecting · 21/08/2013 21:07

Don'tmind when I see pics like that I think of all the cuddles I'm getting from ds, seeing him change each day, more smiles, more vocal and more interested in things, and the way he looks at me that makes me think the mummy tummy can wait. I would much rather be at home with him than in the gym with a personal trainer, eating a liquid diet or what ever it is they eat (which must have an effect on breast milk).
Yes I feel really unsexy at present, but my job is to be his mum

DontmindifIdo · 21/08/2013 21:20

Littlemiss - see, I think I would like to look like her (well, the flat tum, not the masses of someone else's hair glued on my head), i'm just too lazy... still it'll be autumn soon and a big coat covers all wobbly bits.

Re swimming lessons, I would say it's not really something you need to sign up too if you don't want to spend the money, just go when a toddler or training pool is open to the public and take them for a swim. We've just started DS on swimming lessons at 3.5years old. (would have done it earlier at 2.5 or 3, but the only swimming lessons for under 4yo our pool does are on a Wednesday and Wednesdays was one of my working days) I think with DD we'll do the same thing, take her regularly to splash about and get her water confident, not really having formal lessons until she's old enough to take instructions.

SunnyL · 21/08/2013 21:43

We're doing the baby swim sessions at our local council pool. Think it's £3 a session. Twil do her for now.

Dontmind I've no idea who that bird is but I can't say I aspire to be her. Yes she has a nice bum but I have a nice brain. If it was my job to look good I'm sure I'd spend more time in the gym. Thankfully my clients couldn't give a monkey if I brushed my hair that day so I'm fine. In fact in my line of work (environmental consultancy) they probably take you more seriously if you don't brush your hair.

pinkbear82 · 21/08/2013 21:45

Not sure she ate anything at the meal they were going for... Still if I had the money to buy a new wardrobe to suit my changed shape and probably someone to prepare food for me it'd be easier too. But little miss is right, I'd far rather spend time with dd and see her grow. Even if I do feel like a heffalump.

Dd been far more content today which was fab. She is currently in her crib making her piggy noises falling to sleep.

AlohaMama · 21/08/2013 21:51

Hmm, now I'm worried I'm overdressing her. But she kept waking up the other night then when we put an extra blanket on she slept much better. Maybe she needs time to acclimatize then I can start reducing the layers. I'm looking forward to her getting over the jetlag so we can give up the 3 am parties.

Sarah - it was United. Chosen for their mileage program as my dh did a lot of travel within the US. Not too impressed. I had her on my lap most of the way but it was actually not too bad, she slept a lot and I just slept holding her. We're now in Newbury (Berks) with my parents, looking for somewhere to live (maybe Lymington?) in time for our shipping to arrive mid-Nov.

Good to read the discussion on tummies - must remember to do some tummy time for her. And pelvic floors for me. And exercise. And eat less.

HungryHorace · 21/08/2013 22:20

I think she's in shaping undies! But what does it matter?!

I don't have the time or inclination to lose my weight that quickly. I am on a diet, and I am exercising (taking DD for walks in her pram) but it isn't going to be a fast process.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a period as everyone else had heavy days. My lochia stopped 4 weeks ago though, and I didn't cramp like this with that either, so it must be a period? Confused.

Sarah2506 · 21/08/2013 22:31

That chick gave birth half an hour after me. I don't look like that. Note that Coleen Rooney wore a loose dress, code for she's still a bit fat. I don't care beyond not wanting to be overweight and want to avoid buying new clothes. I do go to the gym but those two hours a week are literally the only time I'm away from Polly. I don't feel bad about that. She is in her evening sleep at the time and an hour out makes me a better mummy:-)

pinkbear82 · 21/08/2013 23:56

Agree Sarah, and I think it depends what you were doing pre baby too. Having an exercise routine in place and enjoying it must help you get back into it after.

I've never been good with exercise, which makes it all the more daunting. It's the same as this whole baby game, different things work for different people, and that's ok!

We should all be proud of ourselves, we have wonderful little ones, our bodies went through a lot to have them. In an ideal world we'd all be just as we wanted without hard work. But then again I think, as frustrated as I feel, I would hate to be totally perfect and not have a worry. It just takes a bit of adjusting and finding a new routine.

Olimoss · 22/08/2013 09:08

Sarah - we pay £115 for a series of 9 lessons in a really nice purpose-built pool, class size around 6-8 maximum. Really good instructors, definitely see progress, so worth it.

rrreow · 22/08/2013 14:06

Aloha you're probably not overdressing her, as she'll still be used to warm temperatures and so will experience the temperature here as colder than someone who is acclimatised. If that makes sense.

Mutley77 · 22/08/2013 14:08

Welcome back aloha - hope you are coping ok with the adjustment. I kind of know where you are coming from with temperature. Here in Australia we are into the 20s during the day here everyone is in winter clothes and I am dressing DD in more wintery outfits, whereas I imagine these temps in England I would have her in summery outfits. I think babies acclimatise ... Also, the beginning and end of day here can be really cold so it's all about layers.

Wish I could be skinny. The recovery shorts are fab though.

I am lazy with DC3 and won't be starting swimming lessons until she is 8 months and I have got DS off to full-time school so more time to focus during the day! Tbh I probably won't even put her in a pool until then unless I feel it will help her with temp control in the v hot weather.. Can't be bothered with the faffing about dressing, undressing.

Hawkmoth · 22/08/2013 15:26

I've lost a bit of weight. My current jeans are dropping off so I have to walk round with my hands in my pockets all the time. Feeling optimistic, I bought a pair a size smaller yesterday and I can't get in them. Think it's because they are black and stiffer, but I'm seriously knacked off as I'm starting to look a bit odd!

I'm not in a massive rush, it's a slow job, but I don't want to have to buy loads of interim clothes as we just can't afford it.

curlyclaz13 · 22/08/2013 16:56

Been to have Oscar weighed today he is now 10lb 10 at 10 weeks and still following the 9th centile. He hasn't been measured so no idea how long he is.
HV told me to make him sleep during the day as he currently doesn't unless he is in the sling or out in the pram.

DontmindifIdo · 22/08/2013 19:27

Hawkmoth, buy a belt...

Hawkmoth · 23/08/2013 06:08

:D
They're not the right shape for a belt. Too high in the waist so I'd be very uncomfortable.

Bloody baby wakes for a feed and goes straight back to sleep. I'm wide awake watching a fly crawl over DH and worrying about the other two going to the doctor at half past eight.

Took the pram on some cobbles yesterday, baby loved it! Used to take DD1 on them often and I'd forgotten how funny it was watching a baby bumping and jiggling along. Would recommend.

pinkbear82 · 23/08/2013 07:39

Hawk dd loves bumps! The bumpier the better for her. I'm sure ppl think I'm cruel. And totally sympathise on the being awake when bubs isn't.... 4am I'm wide awake, power cut (took me a while to work out why no lights I tried worked!) house down the road alarm going off, neighbour out with ladder trying to sort it. All rather entertaining.
Hope ur dh didn't eat the fly Wink and that all goes well at docs.

Dd went 6 hours last night, 8.30 - 2.30 without a feed, longest ever. I didn't know what to do, I felt rejected!!! Grin

Off to the aquarium today, which I am quite excited about.... Think the dsds are too, but clearly they just don't appreciate the build up.

curlyclaz13 · 23/08/2013 08:04

Power cut here too (or fuse blown but haven't checked yet)
oscar went down at 11.30 and woke every hour until 7 and is wide awake now. How does he do it ? I cannot wait until tomorrow when OH can have him between feeds so I can sleep.
