I wish it was still sweary Wednesday cos we had an awful night. I don't know whether it's teef or sleep regression but J was very whimpery yesterday evening. I ended up taking the mattress out of the cot and sleeping on it with J while fucking DH had the kingsize bed to himself. He finally settled at 1:45 and went back into his cot but there were a couple more wakenings after 4. Honestly it's bad enough when J has a bad night but DH makes everything much worse. He was trying to comfort J but he was holding him rigidly in his arms so he was immobilised and shaking him up and down. It doesn't look very comforting but he always does it. Then he was going to take J downstairs and co-sleep on the sofa with him. I mean wtaf?

detective ive found the gro blind really good, coupled with rhe blackout curtains it is pitch black if I so wish. I love it, but don't have it that dark because I don't want him to only sleep in proper darkness. glad I got it though, maybe one would work for you/o?

bet you're chuffed to have them back sophia

I am going to see if I can try different ones lily the link pp sent me was to a website where you can try different nappies. I'm hoping to go as cheap as I can without compromising on quality, but dp said he thought it would cost more after I showed him the set for £180 so if I sort it for cheaper he'd be pleased! I just though the set looked good as it has the bucket thingy etc and it means idiots like me can't forget something important!

aw pikz Brew to you and others who had a bad one last night :(

hmm stunt I bet reasoning with him in the silly hours isn't fun either. sounds like a proper shit night :( I don't suppose j finds that thing your dh does very comforting at all :/

hmmm.... I smell a shitty nappy.... it wasn't smelly 10 mins ago when I fed him his bottle! I shall go fix this!

which reminds me, re cloth nappies, do you use them at night too?

ditsygem · 08/08/2013 07:42

I had all the best intentions of using cloth nappies when I had F, but then found the first few months generally so hard that I completely forgot to think about it again!
stunt I feel for you, that does sound like a crappy night.
F was actually quite good last night, well slept to 5.30am when he was standing in his cot so I got him up for the day (he usually wakes at 6.20ish) and took him to my room as I always do to give him his first bottle before I get up and shower etc. He downed his bottle at 6am and fell back asleep for 40 minutes in my bed! Really hoping he didn't think it as a night waking and that he can get that treatment anytime he likes in the night - I am always so strict on not leaving the nursery with him during the night!
chasing whats the cute guy news this morn? any messaging overnight?

Jims · 08/08/2013 07:53

Who needs an alarm clock for work with a baby in the house? Although to be fair it was f's best night ever waking up for his morning feed at 5.30. Couldn't be bothered to go back to bed for 20 mins after so that was me then. Must learn to go to bed earlier. So now i'm on tge train to work wondering if my line manager wil be in so that i can actually get into the new (to me) office!

fatima my dh works for a german pharma company in didcot. He's now on extended paternity leave - they're reasonably family friendly if the same one.

det F also gets rubbish at sleeping when developmentally up to stuff. It's now that my DS1 started walking and your O seems similar...!! Smile

Hurrah for all men news. Not hurrah for bplp's day at work
Or rubbish nights stunt

Jims · 08/08/2013 07:57

Am also wondering how to start a campaign for part-time season tickets for train travel for part-timers. Am outraged by chunk of salary that goes on travel i don't use. Maybe mumsnet wpuld be a good place to start? Fgw replied on twitter said 'there isn't the demand...'!

TheDetective · 08/08/2013 08:00

Gah fuck. No walking. Not yet!

Luckily I don't think it will be just yet - he's not got the balance on two feet for more than a second or two! Thank fuck!

Though I can't remember how long that all takes to learn. I seem to remember watching babies learn to stand but then it takes a few weeks to walk after that? Yes?

Kyz · 08/08/2013 08:08

Whoever suggested crumpet, thanks :) e is nomming one, at breakfast time! Post more later am typing without looking much so can keep eye on him so dknt want to post much

ChasingDaisy · 08/08/2013 08:17

Feeling stressed this morning. O won't eat any breakfast and has whinged non stop since 6.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:19

Morning all Smile

Sorry for those with shitty nights and shitty DHs.

Stunt my SIL tried to settle my first by doing just that and she vommed all over her. She has not held a baby

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 08:19

detective there were 5 months between DD1 standing holding on to something and walking in her own.

Maybe MNHQ read our threads as they are so fascinating and they want to pick up tips on how to be fab parents...

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:20

Fucking app!

She has not held a baby of mine since. Not so easy when it is their daddy though.

J slept 7.30 to 7.45 which is the best ever. He also went into cot awake.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:22

Could be PR.

Put a link on FB MM.

I am amazed the N word was not deleted. Perhaps it was because it was crossed out.

ChasingDaisy · 08/08/2013 08:22

And I'm having my first ever filling later. Happy fucking Thursday.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:24

My go to nappy is an eBay cheapie too. I will message you today Kyz. With just one baby here I am itching to use cloth again. I think bamboo at night only personally as they are bulky but very absorbent. Or a sposie. Many folk use a mix.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 08:24

Ugh the PM is on BBC Breakfast and I can't find the fucking remote to get his smugarse face off the screen.

I feel sick.

Anyway, Thankful Thursday. I'm thankful for a break in the heatwave, for my lovely DH, for sleeping pills, for the legal system and for Twixes.

And for the fact that they've finished talking to the unelected Prime Minister. Ugh.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 08:26

vq It was in the context of the conversation and wasn't meant to offend I'd guess. Did you enjoy an evening on your own? Well, with J.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:34

J was asleep so early and I had every intention of going to bed early, but wanted to hear MMs news. I am clearly too nosy for my own good. And then I got worried and found it hard to sleep. Nodded off around 12.30 but had to put my phone on the landing as I wanted to check FB constantly.

It is lovely being on my own with J but would not like it more than a couple of days.

They will be in BLS tonight Wink

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 08:42

Lovely, I'm sure those that live in BLS will be pleased to see them :)

DD1 was laughing in her sleep at one point during the night. It's the first time ever in ages that I have been glad to be co-sleeping. It was so cute.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 08:44
Smile
StuntNun · 08/08/2013 09:18

Aaaaarghh! Pooplosion followed by wee mid-nappy change. Confused I ended up putting J in the bath and running the shower over him (no hot water for a bath). He didn't know what was going on.

fruitpastilles · 08/08/2013 09:28

Morning! These bloody teefs want to hurry up, last night wasn't as bad as the night before but still bad enough. stunt join me for a BrewBrew

chasing I had my first filling a couple of months ago, well I had 2, 1 on either side, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be to be honest. So hopefully it won't be for you either. Any messages off the cute guy?

kyz yay for crumpets. I've never tried S with a crumpet, I have some so I'll give her one tomorrow and see how she goes.

fruitpastilles · 08/08/2013 09:29

Oh forgot to say, that does sound cute pr Smile

fruitpastilles · 08/08/2013 09:31

We are finally getting S's room decorated, woo yes I know it's a bit late! I can't wait until it's done, I'm also quite looking forward to having her cot in our room while its being done, especially while she is having these bad nights, I'm lazy haha! She hasn't been in our room since she was 10 weeks so I think it'll be nice, am I mad haha

Passmethecrisps · 08/08/2013 09:36

Good morning!

Mid-nappy change wees are a pain in the ass. Thankfully p goes red in the face when she wees so you can usually preempt the actual weeing

Interesting night here. P did not wake up once. Not one single dummy insertion. I woke with a jump at 5:30 and, obviously, thought she was dead. I persuaded myself not to go barging into her room and dozed off again only to have an intense anxiety dream all set to the soundtrack of Susan's house by the Eels.

VQ you asked about the thesis progress. All I can say is "fine!" In a sort of clipped and thin lipped fashion Grin My MIL says that meaning 'fucked up, intense, neurotic and emotional' so it fits beautifully! It would be ok if I could get the beggar to go to work. He hangs around here for ages in the morning then eventually goes for a shower. But after 20 minutes I realise he isn't actually in the shower yet but that 20 minutes was a poo. Then he wander down another 20 minutes later in just his boxers and bimbles about a bit. Back off upstairs for another 10 minutes then, just then, he might be ready.

This morning he asked how on earth we would manage next week. I had to bite my tongue.

Just as well I think he is awesome as I could ring his wee neck sometimes. He just likes hanging around with us that's the problem.

It will get done. It will get done.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 09:44

pass if that continues it'll make potty training much easier. I think it is the Chinese that potty train at 9 months. I'll have to dig out the article about it. Anyone ready? :o
