Oh yeah PR what is that thing called where people never use nappies? I just imagine spending all my time staring intently into P's face poised to grab her and fling her over a potty

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 09:55

I think in the old days they trained earlier than now because nappies were such a pita to wash. My MIL started mentioning it every conversation from the day DD1 turned one. She even threatened to potty train her herself when she was up last year while I was in hospial having LO. Kept going on and ON about it I had to be very, erm, clear. And DH was also very, erm, clear. And she never mentioned it again.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 09:56

What's that thing called? Madness.

ChasingDaisy · 08/08/2013 09:59

Quick update. Cute fb guy was a case of mistaken identity. But am currently feeding O outside boots having given my number to a member of staff to pass on. It is his day off today.

Kyz · 08/08/2013 10:03

I had every intention of using cloth too ditsy but like you I found the first few months too difficult to even think about cloth and then completely forgot, and re-remembered when e got to 6 months but thought it too late/not worth bothering by then!

Ahhh chasing could it be the pesky teef again? Hope it goes ok for you at the dentist too :)

Woohoo vq that's a sleep and a half! Well done j :)

pr that sounds really cute :)

Ooh fruit how are you decorating it?

Go chasing!!!

Potty training talk, have I missed something? Feel like I've missed something!

fruitpastilles · 08/08/2013 10:08

kyz errrrm no idea haha, ideas welcome! I've seen a few wallpapers I like, 1 that I love but it's a bit busy to do the whole room in so might just do 1 wall in it, if that's the one I go for. We've got a carpenter coming in to build shelving/storage units in the alcoves to make use of them, and because I couldn't find a bookcase to fit when we went to ikea.
I just can't wait for it all to be done and to have a nice place for her to sleep/play Smile

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 10:10

Elimination communication.

Passmethecrisps · 08/08/2013 10:13

That's the one VQ!

PurplePidjin · 08/08/2013 10:29

There are mad people that refuse to use nappies then ones like my mum/gran etc that start holding the baby over the potty every time they change a nappy...

R's new things are playing peepbo - hiding his head behind my arm and popping up grinning - and the word Mumum.

He slept 7:15-3:45 then 5:10-6:30 in the end. Better, but...

PurplePidjin · 08/08/2013 10:40

Oh, and nappy costs...

Pack of sposies for a fiver lasts 3-4 days. So, £10 per week. My whole stash cost about £200 (generous estimate) not including the ones I've sold. So i had my money back in 20 weeks or so.

I do two extra loads of washing per week - 60* wash plus 2 extra rinses - and line dry.

R just tried to pull up on his walker - push along type - and went splat over on his back from sitting! He's fine, playing now, but should i get rid of it? I'm already paranoid about him pulling the dj booth over and thinking of selling it...

YellowWellies · 08/08/2013 10:46

I remember when travelling in Western China on the silk road (wah wanderlust reminiscing Envy Envy Envy Envy ) seeing lots of toddlers in this wee yurt encampment running around with the bottoms cut out of their trousers. Thing is we were halfway up the Tibetan plateau so their wee bums were bright red with exposure / sun / windburn! When I got altitude sickness I realised I could have done with a pair of bumless pants too Grin Grin Grin Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 10:53

Envy of yw's travelling past. I wasted my 20s with twats and didn't travel much at all. Except with the twats.

I hope to be healthy and wealthy enough in the future to put my regrets to sleep. Will have to go to Tahiti at some point, DH wants to be scattered there. :(

Lily311 · 08/08/2013 11:01

kyz you don't need a set, buy the bucket separately in the corner shop, just make sure it has a lid. Also get a mesh on eBay, I bought mine for £1 so you don't need to touch the nappies when loading them in the washing machine. I also sold tins of nappies, got back the money for the whole set really.

I'm grateful for my amazing siblings, companies who deliver to Hungary, calpol and my lovely O.

chasing give him calpol. No need to suffer for either of you.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:06

PP that is how they learn. He will fall many many times. The DJ booth may well be a liability now. I am guessing he is a bit beyond it now too. We gave ours away as I was worried J would tip it over. Make sure book cases and TV and cabinets are secured to the wall. Or get a play pen.

We will get the play pen out today as he has mastered speed rolling and can get to the plug sockets in seconds no matter what way I point him.

Off to baby clinic today to have his wee chest listened to. Very wheezy again since last evening.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:09

I am thankful my boy slept last night and that my girls are having a lovely time on holiday.

I am thankful for some peace and quiet. I am really benefiting from it.

I am thankful for antidepressants that work. I am thankful for the quiche.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:10

I have sent you a couple of messages Kyz.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:19

I have sent you a message too PR. I am not very pleased with MN messages at the moment. Very unreliable IMO.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 11:26

I get an email through when they arrive - maybe you can set it up to do that?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/08/2013 11:30

Feeling stressed can I just have a little rant. Thank you.

I am having the girls at my dads next week because all the beds are down at ours.

Their dad is demanding I pick them up in the morning.

My boys are not in nursery on a Monday

DH should be at work

The girls are two hours away

My dad and my step mum have a hospital appointment in the afternoon so can't get the girls for me

DH doesn't want to spend the money on nursery on Monday as they leave on Thursday

I have said I will take the boys with me but icey reception from step mother

Feel like no one sees how difficult it is for me to juggle everyone and make everyone happy.

Someone has to make a compramise but who should it be.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:40

We see how difficult it is for you Sophia. Not that it helps. I would rather have the boys in nursery an extra day as I would prefer they were not travelling all day.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/08/2013 11:41

No advice sophia but that sounds very stressful Flowers

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 11:43

I need to check my emails more often I think PR. My old phone beeped with each email but my new one doesn't. Yet.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/08/2013 12:11

Thanks. vq 'twas virtual understanding I needed. Unless DH can be at home easily dad has smoothed the waters and I will have all 4 at dads till Wednesday then the boys will come back for a couple of days in nursery before they leave.

I just had a meltdown in office.

Most probably a build up of everything just poured out.

I will feel better once I have had a hug from DH.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2013 12:17

Understandable Sophia. It is a big thing moving let alone with 4 kids to consider.

Pikz · 08/08/2013 12:29

Sophia I for one think you are legendary for what you are doing.

Wondering how I'm going to make it to 7pm on the little sleep I've had.

Lo seems much improved thank god.
