kyz O always has a finger food lunch. Bread, cheese, meat, fruit etc. He has decided that he doesnt actually want to eat anything at the moment though. Fucking teeth.

Well I checked my receipt from yesterday and I now his name is Tom.

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 13:12

So I've solved the car seat problem. What a dickhead. Took the insert out. I had been reluctant to do so because the seat seems far too hard without it.

But now I've taken it out, I see the difference it makes! He's fine in it now. Loads of room yet. Have put a picture on facebook to show!

ChasingDaisy · 07/08/2013 13:51

Ha problem solved det!

I wish you lived locally, I'd totes be asking you to go in there for me Grin

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 13:58

And I would so do it! Balls of steel Grin

ChasingDaisy · 07/08/2013 14:01

I have no doubt that you would Grin

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2013 14:42

Been reading up about seat strap positioning.

With rear facing car seats use the slot level with or below the shoulders, never above.

With forward facing car seats use the slot level with or above the shoulders, never below.

This is to do with direction of movement in the most common impact i.e. from the front.

Kyz · 07/08/2013 14:45

Afternoon. Phew. Could be going worse I guess! Fucking glad it's sweary weds, bloody dogs are driving me mad, bastard fur everywhere, I Hoover every day, sometimes twice and STILL there's fur all over the shop!

Anyway...

Very nice of your dp det :)

Ahh I see pr. I'm not sure e would do great with bottles in his sippy cup, he drinks well out of it but also chucks it everywhere! Hmm. Also, you sound unwell :(

chasing I think yw's plan sounds a good un

fatima does m have much milk/bf? E is only offered 3 bottles now as he dropped the tea one to an oz or two but I worry sometimes that he needs more.

det I did pesto pitta pockets and spooned him an organix pot but ended up spooning him some cauliflower cheese as that's what I had and he wanted some.

I've never given e ham, does it go down well?

I think the problem still is that I am worried he won't take enough because I'm scared if He doesnt sleep well and i don't sleep at night I'll be a crap mum, I'm no good with no sleep :( and I'm the first to admit it, I am terrible. Also I still have the irrational fear of choking type thing going on. I need to get a grip I think! He eats pretty well and only gagged once on pitta bread.

I had to do the same thing with my car seat det, though I am looking for an excuse to get a new one, mine is a baby weavers one and I hate it!

Grr, gotta chop potatoes up. Can't be fucking fucked to fucking move never bastarding mind chopping cunting potatoes ESP not ones that require nobbing peeling first. Bollocks.

As you were.

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 15:00

Ham goes down VERY well here. I have ham on the bone - so it is quite thickly sliced.

I do worry about the salt content as it is quite high. I let him have small pieces, I put them in his mouth for him as his lordship requests Hmm. He devours them. I'm pretty sure he would eat a whole slice given the chance to!

I feel the same. I'm sofa camped, watching trashy tv. Sod the book! Grin Guess DP will be home soon though. He went out just after 1.

Passmethecrisps · 07/08/2013 15:09

I am at my desk. At work. Checking my emails. And eating chocolates that someone very kindly left for me!

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2013 15:11

I am enjoying the peace and quiet here. The girls are having a great time and are running Daddy ragged Grin I am torn between cleaning and washing CSI from the beginning. I am loving knowing that it is only my crap that needs picking up, sorting, washing etc. I also left the washing up overnight because I wanted to! J is a bit puzzled and keeps looking for everyone.

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2013 15:13

Pass you do not start until next week, but I understand why you are there. Hope it makes you feel a bit more prepared. How is DH and his studies?

PetiteRaleuse · 07/08/2013 15:14

I'm not unwell - I shivered because after weeks and weeks of heatwave this morning it was under 20° and hasn't gone above 25° all day. It's bliss. I hate the heat. I was happy to shiver.

Unless my posting style today would indicate I am unwell. Is it because I'm not swearing enough?

Buggery bollocky wanksocks :o Better?

PetiteRaleuse · 07/08/2013 15:15

vq In your position I would blitz the house and then watch dvd boxsets and read trashy novels the whole time. Envy

FatimaLovesBread · 07/08/2013 15:15

kyz I just let her bf when she wants, I figure if she wanted more she'd let me know. Today she hasn't bf much, her last feed was at 7am. She's since had brekkie and lunch. I'm guessing when she wakes from her nap she'll want a bf before tea. But last night she fed a lot over night as she kept waking with her teefs.
Some days she'll bf more often, especially if she's had less meals.
It's hard because I don't want her bf all the time and then not be able to when I go back to work so I'm trying to get her used to not having it all the time.

Right, what can I cook for tea for M and I? I've got a lasagne I was going to do, or I thought about veggie pasta. But I've a butternut squash that needs using. It's hard just cooking for me and M

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 15:43

VQ it is bliss just picking up after yourself! It does get lonely after a while though, so just enjoy it for what it is now! A nice change!

And watch the sodding TV!

There is not enough down time in our lives. Make the most.

I am sat here with a house that needs cleaning top to bottom. 9 months ago, I could not contemplate sitting here and actually feeling relaxed knowing it needed doing. I have learnt thanks O! to manage those feelings and squash them to oblivion! Grin I don't let the house get in to total chaos, but it isn't how I would like it in my ideal world. Oh well. It's all the dog's fault anyway. Fecking hairy bitch!

DP text me to let me know that the bababa that O was doing as he left the house has carried on all afternoon! My baby is babbling! Finally! I was a little worried Grin. I think it might have helped that I have been doing bababa at him all day long for the last week. Grin

Good news in the Nun household today, we were approved for the bigger mortgage ha ha ha haaaah the fools, the fools gave us the money! I'm fucking glad interest rates have dropped so much, our new monthly payment will only be £90 more than we paid for the first for years on our bastarding fixed rate mortgage even though we're borrowing 1.5 times the amount of money we had borrowed then. We were on 5.5% when everyone else's variable rate mortgages were dropping by £100 per month. The downside is we're going back to a 25 year term so won't own the house until we're both 62. Shock Jeez by then even the hypothetical DC4 will be an adult. ShockShock

J is loving standing up now, he giggles the whole time. He can't quite pull himself up to standing yet.

I have also decided not to get O any babygrows in 9-12. Given his love for being on his feet, and the fact he has worn the feet and knees in on all his 6-9 ones - which haven't had much wear anyway due to the weather - I figured PJ's would be more practical.

So I picked up a pack in Asda yesterday. Great. Except for the fact the sodding pants fall down over his feet anyway!!! I am going to get him some skinny fit ones. I've seen some on eBay. Hopefully they will be better.

I might get a couple of babygrows. Just because I do love them. But mostly I think pj's will be practical from now on.

Can I have nap advice please? O is fighting going down for both naps. He does seem tired though. And will sleep up to 3 hours. If we are home he has around 4 hours of napping a day - split over 2 naps. He sleeps around 11 hours at night. He usually has a nap after 2.5-3 hours of wake time.

Would you try and get him to have one longer nap? I'm concerned that if I do this, it will end up being right over the middle of the day, and then lunch is a bit buggered? I think he is a bit young to be dropping the morning nap also. I'm not sure. The fighting could be a developmental leap?

I might revert back to the old fail safe of pushchair naps for now? Or is that just giving up for an easy life?

Speaking of which, when O goes to my mums, and DP's mums, I am planning on telling them to just rock him in the pram to sleep. This is far the easiest way to get him asleep. I want to make their life as easy as I can while they have him. Would this make my life harder at keeping him in his cot for naps though?

Any thoughts?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/08/2013 15:58

I have decided not to buy cakes for the wider team for my leaving. No one talks to me anyway. I have just bought an individual pressure for each of my immediate tea, that they would actually like, and I will then just slip away.

Is that bah humbug?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/08/2013 15:58

Present.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/08/2013 16:16

sophia I think that is a perfect compromise.

detective you might find O goes down easier for others so I'd let them manage it how they see fit. If it is easier for them to rock to sleep in the pram then that is fine; if he goes down in a cot easily then that's great. They'll work out what is easiest. Assuming they know about looking after babies and respect dietary requirements I think you just have to let them get on with it.

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 16:24

See if I was looking after someone elses baby, I'd want to know how the parents put them to sleep - even if I tried my own thing, so that I knew a 'failsafe' way of sorts.

My mum hasn't looked after a baby since me. Grin

Ds1 was 2 before she would have him!

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2013 16:44

My mum popped in when J was having his toast (or not) and said 'oh you poor thing, has mummy not put butter on for you?' She did not know there was milk in butter apparently.

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 16:55

My mum didn't know there was milk in biscuits (most!) VQ.

We went out to a nature reserve type place yesterday, and she took a packed lunch. She wanted to make it for everyone. I said I would bring mine (due to SW) and O's. She said I can bring things for him, he can have a biscuit can't he now. I said no mum, most biscuits have milk in. She said 'hasn't he outgrown that now?' with a very confused tone to her voice. Hmm

And yes, I have explained before that he will outgrow it, but not likely under 1, but hopefully before he goes to school!

TheDetective · 07/08/2013 17:04

Oh, a massive hit here - crumpets with vitalite on.

He loved them!

Have found the Organix range of finger foods and some of their meals very good in terms of being milk free. O had their banana and raisin porridge this morning and it was a big hit.

I find having the odd few bits of baby specific food very useful now, especially when we go out, or are in a rush.

Though to be honest, weetabix is quicker for his breakfast! I just can't be arsed blending the fecking porridge oats up sometimes. Blush He still won't take porridge without a little blending. GRR!

This is their allergen information www.organix.com/sites/organix.herogtc.net/files/u17982/Allergen%20Data%20June%2013_0.pdf

O seems to prefer their stuff to EK.
