Well it seems appropriate you cheeky breeders.

sybilfaulty · 16/09/2013 14:24

I am guessing girl called Sybil about 6.5lb at about 6am tomorrow morning.

Arti, glad everyone is OK at home. Are you picking DD2 up? AM sure she will be thrilled to have you both home.

Honsandrevels · 16/09/2013 14:55

I think girl, 10pm, 7lb. :)

Dd1 in floods of tears before school this morning. DH is picking her up so fingers crossed she's had a good day.

JumpJockey · 16/09/2013 15:20

Arti, so glad all is ok. Eggs on heads do look terrible but as long as everything's alright underneath that's great.

Beans, given that my last bet was for Thursday Blush not sure I should get involved again but will say girl, 3am, 7lb7.

Hurrah!

Vagolajahooli · 16/09/2013 15:32

1.15am girl called Vagola, lovely feminine name I think

Bang on 8lb.

JumpJockey · 16/09/2013 15:35

Oh sorry, forgot the name. Mezzanine.

beans37 · 16/09/2013 15:56

Think I'll call it Bogrollia. Rather lovely. If its a girl. If a boy, then Foreskiniccus.

Still nada. Dribs and drabs coming out, but am going to go for a walk with DH in a moment and see if it brings it on. Slept hard for 2 hours, dribbled a lot and apparently snored like a trooper. Brilliant. DH tidied playroom and cleaned the oven. What a star.

Was going to have a curry tonight, but DH reminded me of my issues with hot food and my rather sore piles, so that one is knocked on the head. Wonder if we should take advantage of one of our last nights of freedom and go out!! That would almost definitely bring it on!

Rubena · 16/09/2013 16:22

I love Foreskineccus. Foreskin for short. I'd go out beans. For sure.

Vagolajahooli · 16/09/2013 16:38

Rubes I wish they did Mumsnet notifications too, I also wish they had a like button for posts.

Beans Bogrollia is lovely but have you considered spelling it with a j after the i, so it would be Bogrolija, but it would be pronounced ya at the end, or possibly end with an H.

ShadyLadyT · 16/09/2013 17:16

Go Beans! It is my sister's birthday tomorrow as well as Sybs's. I think it will be a boy, 1am, 7lb 2! ZJ, I hope you are spreadsheeting these Grin

Am woefully behind and no hope of catching up this evening so I will just touch on the prevailing issues of the day:

am going to buck the trend and say I wasn't jazzed about Byron burgers but I am a veggie so it doesn't count, veggie burgers are often crap. DP loves it and he is the burgermeister.

JJ - contraception...well, I have never been able to come up with a decent method since having kids, other than abstention (I am half joking, half not Grin) They are all crap, aren't they? The Pill makes me feel bad and also you can't take it forever and ever when you are an oldie. I STILL can't face the coil even though I have been told I don't know how many times by various members of the medical profession that it would be the best for me (mind you, I am older than you). Would DH consider you using a Clearblue ovulation predictor? Then you can avoid the 'dangerous' times. Although it is still a little risky, my SIL had her DD2 on that, using it as contraception...But maybe she took a risk.

Congrats on the exchange, Nolda! Yay. Any news on yours, Rubes? And did you say you had a parents' eve on your birthday?

Gotta go for now. Best of British, Beans. Remember with each contraction it's the last time you'll be doing this!

Come on beans we want a baby!!! Get a move on womanWink.

So DS has had his first longer day at school (till 2pm, full days next week). He seems to be loving it. Plus he is back with his best friend from pre school as he did afternoons last week when DS was doing mornings. DS was so excited to see him this morning. They are like an old married couple. It's very sweet! Plus he finally got to take his Superman lunch bag inGrin

DH and I went for a lovely hike in the country this morning. I realised it was 7 years since we'd been on that particular route. Was so nice to spend some QT together like that! We are now planning ad hoc lunches, shopping trips etc. Rock n roll we areGrin

Arti, quick question as I think your DD1 is the same age as DD (yr 3)? Does she have a lot more homework? DD seems to have a ridiculous amount! The other day we ended up with quite a heated 'chat' about adjectives & nouns. It just seemed too much for a 7 yr oldConfused. Give me phonics any day !

Rubena · 16/09/2013 18:36

Oh i particularly like that variation in the spelling Vag - v classy. But I think it's a boy.
Hi Lady! You sound busy as always. Yes hopefully this week we are doing the application etc then setting the exchange for end of lease in Nov, then settlement may either be 60 days after - (by the way Vag, the guy said 30-60 days is average for settlements, but you can have up to 90 sometimes, or as little as a week- no set rle I don't think) We may settle earlier, howeverwe have a lot of bills at the moment, and we are paying WAY under market value for rent, so might be nice not to settle until after Christmas! Wink but yes, hopefully all moving forward.
Hons, hope dd had a lovely day in the end.
Arti hope ds is on the mend - and yes also agree, an egg is a much better sign, than no egg. I had one for several days when I was projected into a brick bridge over Summer - Deids saw a picture - which still didn't even look as bad as it was! - I still have a weird lumpy feel to my forehead where it was!
Deids, glad deidsboy had a nice day with his old pals Smile and you had a nice time with Mr deids

DS had his first full day today and also like deidsboy, was joined with the other half of his class, of which had 2 girls from old nursery. He chatted to them he said, but mostly talked about new friends. mainly as the ex nursery one's were girls. he also instructed me to call him schoolboy again later when we went to the shops. Here I was thinking I wouldn't need dd to have any full nursery days - she stayed all day today and I got loads done with ds tagging along, and no fighting!
Joined ds for school dinner in the hall - was so funny. Why on earth they'd serve chicken korma as the meat option and make it a little bit spicy I have no idea but actually it was quite nice. Despite being a bit spicy for reception kids!

Right, will check back later for Beansbaby update! DH on a late day, again.....

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2013 18:54

Oh rubes I'd forgotten about your head injury! It was quite nasty. In fact given all the injuries you've had running its a wonder you've not quit!! Saw you've done some treadmill action, hope the knees feeling good.

Speaking of notifications my twitter ones have stopped, I've not fine anything too them but I don't always get them. So I'm not ignoring anyone!!

Arrtttiiieee · 16/09/2013 20:37

Beanz - by my calculation that bubba has been here an hour or two already. Hurray up and get back online woman!

Dieds - DD1 is indeed at the start of Y3. Her homework hasn't really increased much since Y2. Each week its the same. For literacy she gets 10 spellings to learn and for each one she has to write a sentence (so ten sentences a week). She has to read for at least 15 minutes a night and I have to sign her reading record each day. Then for maths she gets something vague like "practice your 4 times tables" and I have to sign that she has done it. Thats it really. Each term she has to produce a project on the topic of the term (this term its the Tudors) and we go all out working on that a little bit each weekend but a lot of the project is usually art based with some writing and some research so she sees much of that as fun. I just asked her whether she knew what a verb or noun was and she looked blank so I am impressed your DD could argue with you about that!

Talking about DD1 and school she was in tears tonight because she got a question wrong on todays 'mental maths' test and a boy on her table noticed and teased her about it. She was mortified and says she never wants to do mental maths again. The boy said "even a girl should get that one right" so he also made her start thinking that girls are inherently less good at maths. Another boy on her table joined in. I am furious. I think I might have a word with her teacher tomorrow.

beans37 · 16/09/2013 20:52

Nothing doing. Sorry guys!

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2013 20:53

I guess DDs homework is similar. We have reading at least 4 times a week, which we write in the reading journal. Plus literacy which this week was identifying adjectives, connectives etc. Plus maths (times tables) and another thing related to topic so at mo WW2. Oh and every 3 weeks we gave a project.

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2013 20:58

Doh posted too soon! The thing that's irritated me is that they get their HW in a tues to be in the following Mon. But teacher had encouraged them to get it in early. Which only gives 3 evening ms and in those we have swimming, plus after school club! I need that weekend but poor DD feels like she's not impressing the teacher.

Anyway it seems a similar amount to your DD do that's not too bad. Poor DD1. Those bits seen pretty mean. DD would face been upset too. I do find kids at this age can be very cutting. I would mention to the teacher. Stop it happening again if something similar happens

Beans you tease we want a baby!

Vagolajahooli · 16/09/2013 21:17

Arti I'm horrified at what that little boy said.

OP posts:
JumpJockey · 16/09/2013 21:27

Arti that is dreadful. Definitely a word with the teacher.
Also check out this website - it's a bit American focused but does have lots of great ideas for books to give examples of (eg) female scientists - not so sure about mathematicians I'm ashamed to say
www.amightygirl.com/

If you follow them on Fb you get daily updates of important women, and also girls (mostly american) who have done brilliant things, highly recommended

JumpJockey · 16/09/2013 21:31

How could I forget Philippa Fawcett?!

allkindsofhistory.wordpress.com/2011/10/31/above-the-senior-wrangler/

Came top in the maths tripos in Cambridge in 1890 before women were able to be awarded their degrees.

Honsandrevels · 16/09/2013 22:16

Grr that's very annoying arti. Give dd1 some of those inspirational examples of clever women scientists.

Oh beans, as it is past ten I'm changing my bet. I'm now going for Thursday. All the best people are born on the 19th Wink.

Thanks rubes. Dd1 had a great day. She wants to go back tomorrow which is good news! We had a book home and flash cards. Homework excitedly done already. I wonder when the excitement of that will wear off for us all?!

I must go to bed. Night all.

Arrtttiiieee · 17/09/2013 07:09

That's a great website JJ, thanks. I will look at it with DD1 later.

Thinking of you today Beans. I hope you got some sleep and things kick off quickly.

sybilfaulty · 17/09/2013 08:05

No word from beans. Hope it's all going as smoothly and comfortably as possible.

beans37 · 17/09/2013 08:14

Hello (small voice). Off to hospital now to be checked out and probably induced. Bugger. Will update as/when I can xx
