Congratulations Nolda. Fantastic news.

Dd1 now shouting the odds. Oh dear.

Arrtttiiieee · 15/09/2013 11:38

Well the party is a cinema followed by Byron Burger lunch so very low key. Even the party bags are just a visit to Pick & Mix. There are 7 kids plus DH and the au pair in the movie and me and a fractious DS outside. The cinema is inWestfield and no shops open until noon yet its been packed since we got here. Why on earth would you come to a shopping centre two hours before you can enter a shop? (we can't all be waiting for our kids to get out of a movie can we?).

The au pair seems ok this morning. Can you imagine being just 19, flying alone from your village to one if the wirld's biggest cities, being met by a strange middle aged man (sorry DH!), taken to a strange house, having to make small talk then go straight to bed, listen to a baby cry at intervals through the night, then wake up and having to come down to breakfast to be greeted by a breastfeeding mother and two very overexcited little girls pouncing on you?? I could never have done it.

Arrtttiiieee · 15/09/2013 11:40

I meant to say congrats Nolda. I can't believe you are living in a Travellodge, for how long? That sounds hellish. Is it ok? What happened to your last house?

Vagolajahooli · 15/09/2013 12:39

Gosh Nolda that is ages, I thought from exchange to completion was usually about a week?

Ok I know I said I was off here for a few days. But just wanted to ask does anyone get a weird headache when they get their Aunt flo visiting? I'm finding lately that when 'I'm on' I also get this horrid headachy feeling and eye strainy feeling (yes that is the correct medical terminology) a bit like the early stages of a migraine. In the past I heard women slightly older thabt myself describe themselves as having a period headache and thought they meant period pain. But maybe they did mean a headache and this is what happens when you're an old bird. I realise not many of you are as old as me and I think there are only a couple of eh hem slightly more mature ladies here. But does anyone else get a period headache?

Arti I've never understood the hanging around shoppingcenters bbefore opening thing. Very big in Derby.

Byron burger sounds interesting, I'm wondering if it is named after someone called Byron or Byron bay?

OP posts:
JamInMyWellies · 15/09/2013 15:46

Oh yes Vag I get that all the time. Defo like a migraine.

sybilfaulty · 15/09/2013 16:11

Think Byron is Lord Byron in this context?

Vagolajahooli · 15/09/2013 16:20

Oh Jam it's not fun at all, tummy pain and now headaches. No wonder women deal with pain better than men its a monthly necessity (Vag says that after she hastily popped any pill in the vicinity this morning pn discovery of Aunt flo)

They named a burger restaurant after Lord Byron, I was ok with Byron bay but I find that wrong....god I am old. But if Arti goes there is must be quite classy, she's a classy lady.

I really should not be even on here. Clearly this social media ban is not going well.

I love Byron burger.

sybilfaulty · 15/09/2013 17:07

No word from Beans. Do you think she has a baybee yet?

Jammy what's your due date?

beans37 · 15/09/2013 18:34

No baby! Soz! No more dripping either... Been to a 5yr old's birthday party with the girls and DH. Quite enjoyed it. Especially my glass of Prosecco. Yum. Am now totally ready for bed now, exhausting these children things.

And hungry. Scrambled eggs coming my way. Yip yip!

Rubena · 15/09/2013 18:34

I love Byron Burger too ??

Arrtttiiieee · 15/09/2013 19:59

In hospital with DS. Being observed after DD2 dropped him on his head. Think he is ok but he keeps puking which worries them. I'm used to the puke but was scared witless when he went white and odd after fall. So horrid here but I'm lucky compared to others I've seen.

sybilfaulty · 15/09/2013 20:25

Lord, arti, poor you and poor DS. I think they are much tougher than we think. Dd1 catapulted DS out of his undone carseat and straight into his head when he was about 3 moths. Super scary. If you are in overnight you can feel reassured all is well. Is he quite pukey normally? Huge hugs to you. I'll check in later to see how you are. Big love darling xxx

JumpJockey · 15/09/2013 20:33

Arti sending get well soon wishes for DS and hugs for you, hope he gets the all clear asap. How is the AP doing - will be good for DH to have an extra pair of hands around. It seems like a huge adventure, and for someone that age to have a year in London must be a great opportunity, esp with lovely kids like yours :)

I really want a chicken Kevin for tea now. Byron burger is yum, but sooo pricey.

Nolda great news about the house exchange, it looks really lovely - hope the travelodge is ok!

Period stuff, sorry to hear about the headaches :( sounds grim. I used to have a nice regular 28 day cycle with 3 day pain free periods, now they're every 3 weeks and last about 6 days. Booo. And hormonal contraception utterly kills what teeny tiny sex drive I might have had in the first place. Any other suggestions, since DH has decided he's all uber-catholic and anti-snip now (now he tells me...)?

Rght, tea time and back to work tomorrow after week off with S, she has her first school dinner tomorrow too! Hope it's something yummy. Love you all xxx

beans37 · 15/09/2013 20:40

Oh Arti, please keep us updated. So worrying, but sure all will be ok. Thinking of you.

Off to bed in a mo xx

JamInMyWellies · 15/09/2013 20:44

Oh Arti how scary let us know how the little munchkin is.

Indith · 15/09/2013 20:55

hope all is well arti x

Rubena · 15/09/2013 20:57

Eek Arti scary. All fine I'm sure. Crikey you'd possibly have seen dh if it were a couple of weeks time! Well maybe not. Not sure where you are!
Keep us posted.

Nolda · 15/09/2013 21:06

Arti, I hope DS has a good night and you can all go home again so. How scary for you all. I hope Dd2 is OK. It must have been a shock for her (and everyone).

Rubena · 15/09/2013 21:10

Guess they'll want him in 24hrs for obs Arti. I meant to say, how's dd? My niece nearly injured dd accidentally when they were here and she was devastated. Hope dd isn't feeling too upset. Had she been told not to do something carrying ds or purely an accident? Poor thing. Bet she's upset.

Nolda · 15/09/2013 21:14

Vag, I don't get headaches but my PMT is getting worse with age.

JJ I hope DD enjoys her school lunch. Mine amaze me with their food choices . They often pick things they wouldn't touch with a barge pole if I served them up.

We were renting in the area where our new house is but the inconsiderate landlady sold the house in July. We sold our old flat back in June which has left us homeless. We proceeded with the purchase of our new house on the basis that we completed before the autumn school term and they were going to go into rented accommodation. However, once we had made our mortgage application and had the survey carried out the seller decided that actually, no, they didn't fancy renting after all.

Rubena · 15/09/2013 21:45

Pmt - I have had headaches like that although not every month. Got worse after kids, but that may also be just age [sigh] mainly crabbiness for me though. Has improved significantly (headaches too) since back to backing Yasmin pill.

Vagolajahooli · 15/09/2013 22:12

Gosh Arti you poor thing. I used to work on a kids 24 hr short stay unit attached to an A&E. We used to get loads of suspected head injuries for observation. I never had any go onto need further care. Like Rubs I was wandering how DD2 is about it all.

Well I got loads done today, made a huge difference leaving my phone in another room and only opening up the pages I needed for the assignment, no email or FB pages. I just need to find more references (find some articles with a line at least that back up my arguments), & do the abstract, intro and conclusion. Just a poo that the boys are off two days this week.

JJ same here I used to be bang on every 28 days 3 day period with only 1 heavy day and nothing overnight after the first night. Now it is every three weeks, quite painful on the first day and this headache thing.

I might look into the Yasmin pill Rubes. What is its generic name?
