Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Londoner · 28/06/2006 11:49

Oh Diege, you poor things . Is Scarlett a 'good' patient, lying down taking medication etc, or the kind that wanders round the house wailing and refusing to eat or drink? Hopefully the 'good' sort, I know I have some of each in my house..... obviously dh is the latter. Lol at 'toddler imposters' and half eaten things in pushchair. Love the image of you shrieking at mouse whilst standing on a chair telling girls to get rid of it!... non-plussed looking baby Libby and toddler Scarlett with Jasmine as saviour. You are v. funny!

Diege · 28/06/2006 11:58

LOL LONDONER, you have us off to a tee . Scarlett is a wailing wanderer when ill, refusing all food and demanding tummy rubs. She is asleep at the mo' however, so making the most of my unexpected freedom!! Remember BIg Cat brought a frog in once in his mouth (still alive) and I had to get it to safety or he would eat it. Got it in a pan in the end and chucked in into garden - ewww, the thought is making ne feel quesy now..could never use that pan again either

Rodeo · 28/06/2006 12:13

Morning
We have a poorly one here too, Bella's had the day off, think it's just the start of a cold, her eyes were puffy and stingy and she had a headache, think she's feeling much better now though - watching Harry Potter and daydreaming about being Hermione Jess has got a mild cold too, kept me awake last night with her coughing and splutterings but trying to be sympathetic!
Aw, wow Londoner 2 top teeth? Still nothing here, she keeps pulling those funny gummy faces, the ones they can do when they still havn't any teeth, looks like a little old person! Yuk, half a dead mouse! I stepped in a blackbird insides last year one spring morning, which the cat had arranged around the kitchen, felt sick for days, bleugh!
Hope you start to feel much better soon Chacha, having a small baby to look after 24 hrs a day does take its toll, make sure your still eating well and getting lots of rest. Don't know about you but I find it really hard work holding a wriggly baby, even when I'm sat down. It's still hard work even when they are sleeping better, doesn't seem to get easier either, it just kind of evolves. Sorry I'm supposed to be making you feel better, not worse!
BTW Where has all the sunshine gone?! x x x

Rodeo · 28/06/2006 12:17

Oh and I've just discovered the Home and End keys on my keyboard! How thick am I?? I've been scrolling up and down all this time!!

Rodeo · 28/06/2006 12:23

Just seen your lovely new pics Londoner She's so pretty, your not half bad either

Londoner · 28/06/2006 12:35

Aww, thanks Rodeo . Just one top tooth at the mo and still only half cut, gulp, she really enjoyed biting into a load of cool grapes just now though think it must have been quiet soothing.... generally pretty crabby - for her- at the moment though..... am staying out of her way, she's parked in the garden watching trees at the mo .... they don't mind being shouted at.....
Oh, poor Bella, sorry to hear she's poorly. Lol at her dreaming of being Hermione, v. sweet image. Blackbird remains sound ewwwww... d'you think this is animal equivalent of not eating crustslol?
Home and End keys, wot?

babyonboard · 28/06/2006 12:52

Aw just logged on as the little man woke up..

but quickly.
Londoner, as if I could give you tips on mothering..hehe. But this may help with the teething?
For O I put a flannel soaked in water in the freezer for a while and then let him gnaw on it..he loves it and it really seems to help..
(though it makes me cringe..something about sucking towelling seems wrong.lol)

Back once he's fed, watered and played out
x

Rodeo · 28/06/2006 13:22

Bob, oh, makes me cringe too but good tip! My sister used tochew on the fingers of her woolly gloves, argh - just thinking of it gives me the creeps!
Londoner - good grape tip too The home and end keys are next to page up and page down on my keyboard and take the page right to the top & bottom of the thread - v useful for when it gets v.long! Don't know about the crusts theory, think cats are just generally disgusting! My old cat used to leave the skin and eat out of them like they were a makeshift bowl!

Londoner · 28/06/2006 13:33

BoB, great flannel trick..... might try that... coupled with Rodeo's story of the glove sucking reminds me of a friends toddler who, knowing they weren't allowed to drink the bathwater, used to sneak one of their socks into the bath and when mum's back was turned give it a quick suck! Ewwwww! I saw him do it, it was hilarious, and the sideways look on his face to make sure she wasn't looking was classic!
Ugh about carcass bowls Rodeo!
E asleep now so of course alternating unloading dishwasher, eating flapjacks (made for the kids of course) and MN...... would be nice to have a little 'ping' alert like they have for work emails when a new message appears on the thread.... and a self-refreshing page.... would stop me 'MN hovvering'....maybe.

Diege · 28/06/2006 13:51

Oooh gosh wool on teeth!!! Arghhh, can't bear thinking about it, but can't stop myself either!!
Hope Bella is feeling better soon RODEO - it's really tiring looking after then isn;t it (and no doubt not too great being ill too . Think I'd rather be ill on balance though!
Thanks for face cloth tip BOB - def. one to try (oh no, thinking of that wool again!!).
Well, school run soon; will have to put Scarlett in buggy, and sling for L I think - will try wilkinet for the first time - better have a look at instructions for putting it on!!

Diege · 28/06/2006 13:53

Have to say it's soooo good to have you back LONDONER; we'll be back to our old 9am cross-posting soon!!

GarfieldsGirl · 28/06/2006 14:25

Hope those poorly little ones are on the mend soon. And hope the mummies aren't being driven too mad!

Eeewwww! mouse pieces scattered around Londoner, yuk! My old house was infested with mice, our 1st night there I found a mouse running across the worktop, ran off screaming, and in the whole time we lived there I only took my shoes off for bath and bed!

The thought of wool on teeth send shivers down my spine too, its like the tearing of cotton wool, I hate that [shiver].

I used to like sucking on a wet flannel, I don't know how I discovered that, but your tip reminded me of it bob.

ChaCha - great news about your 1st job, may it be the 1st of many

Rodeo - I love those gummy 'gurning' faces too. Will be so when they do pop through. We have 2 big white lumps at the bottom, been there for a while now.

Londoner - lol at E shouting at trees! Very cute image!

GO - hmmmm! bowl of melted chocolate sound slovely, forget the banana!! My friend's dad used to do bbq'd bananas, then slit them open and put Dairy Milk inside. They loved it, could never bring myself to try it tho.

Londoner · 28/06/2006 14:33

Good luck with the school run.... pushchair ought to counterbalance you with (nearly) 8 month baby strapped to your front..
If you do your jacket up over Libby you can pretend to yourself you're pg.....

Londoner · 28/06/2006 14:37

Cross posted GG, Hi! Right, off to check if there are any more biscuits.....

GarfieldsGirl · 28/06/2006 14:39

Hi Londoner, you sound like me. I've been munching on biccies and jam tarts all day. Unfortunately not home made

babyonboard · 28/06/2006 14:45

Garfieldsgirl..oh my god..I have had that cotton wool thing all my life, and never known anyone with the same (phew I'm not crazy!?lol)
It is the worst ever..my friends used to pull it apart in front of me to make me squirm..argh..eeek
with O I have to buy the cotton wool pads that are well covered in nice soft stuff..
lol ..it's so silly
almost as bad is blunt pencils scraping across paper..or dried out felt tips..
eeeeuuuaaarrggh

OP posts:
babyonboard · 28/06/2006 15:36

and another to add to novas 'what not to do'

-don't spend ages making a lovely complicated glaze for a lamb roast

  • don't give your baby a new potato to chew on whilst eating said lamb roast -don't let o/h freak out when it seems baby is choking on the potato (when he isn't )and let o/h hit him on the back causing him to spew all over himself/the table/your dinner/you
  • don't get too annoyed when o/h stands around looking helpless at all the chaos he's caused.

this happened on monday..I was put off my dinner completely, and woke up starving (and ate a fat b.l.t and half a pack of cookies for breakfast as a result)

OP posts:
Rodeo · 28/06/2006 17:01

Haha, GG/Londoner - you've both reminded me that I used to like to drink cold water out of a sponge while I was in the bath, but (and don't be sick please) it had to be a old well used sponge!
I also had wierd eating habits too when I was a child, I used to sneak oxo cubes and lick them in my bedroom, I liked eat the brown bubbly bits off cream crackers and chuck the cracker away, used to suck the flavour off crisps and chuck the crisps away, save the most flavoury crisp and treasure it like a prized possession. God I was warped - I'm surprised I have no eating disorders! My children have no chance do they?!
Bob poor you with your lovely dinner! Can see what you mean about cotton wool - I can't stand wire wool being pulled apart. Or using those awful soap filled Brilo pads, or those metal scouring pads! Argh!

Rodeo · 28/06/2006 17:06

Oh dear, think I may have awoken something....I'm getting the urge to have some Lime doritos and find the flavouriest ones and suck the flavour off!!!

babyonboard · 28/06/2006 17:54

lmao Rodeo.and sad confession from me

We have been buying those lime doritos every time there's a big match on, and I always eat the ones soaked in the flavour wilst putting them into bowls, When we had friends round I even got a stash of them in a bowl that I could eat whilst preparing the other food..
I do the licking thing too.and then almost throw it away..tehee

OP posts:
babyonboard · 28/06/2006 18:38

oooh but the worst is M&S cheesy puffs..oooh oohoooh

OP posts:
Diege · 28/06/2006 19:23

My guilty sucky secret (oo-err!) is smoky bacen or prawn cocktail flavour crisps, and the mushy, starchy potato remains are just as good

Diege · 28/06/2006 19:27

Oh and doing the same too with custard creams MMmmmmmm!!!

babyonboard · 28/06/2006 19:29

oooooh the last crumbly bit in a packet of 'skips' ooooohhh, ooh
or licking the flavouring from 'frazzles' ( it's hard to find those these days!)tehhee

and no, I didn't go to rodeos party, and no, I don't have a buzzy thing
crisps give me all the buzz I need.

OP posts:
babyonboard · 28/06/2006 19:32

lmao rodeo..i split custard creams, eat the insides and then pass them to d.p
