DD1 and her sleep, or refusal to go to sleep in any bed but mine, with someone lying next to her, is getting me down. Every evening is now a battle. But I want my bed and my evenings back before I go to work. I won't be able to function in so little sleep.

And tbh my relationship with DH is going to suffer. Lack of shagging apart, the fact he gets in from work, we eat, and then he takes DD1 to bed, means that we don't speak, ever, during the week.

I spend my day on my own with the kids, and my evenings on my own on here, or in front of the tv, and my nights lying awake resenting the fact that everyone else in the house is asleep, and I have exchanged no more than, say, 50 words with anyone in real life all day, except for the children.

And dinner has also been taken over by DD1 as she has decided she no longer wants to eat from her own plate in her own chair, but wants to eat from DH's plate on his knee.

I hoped we could break bad habits with the holidays but she reverted to type the moment we got in the door. I know she's not old enough for this to be a deliberate naughtiness, or manipulation. But it's a real PITA. I want my life back.

Evilwater · 24/06/2013 21:03

Ninja post!
n loved nursery today, again. He was good as gold today, went down without a fight, ate his meals without the food going everywhere Grin Grin he also crawled 50cm at baby group Grin

Now for the bad, it's taken 2 and a half hours to get him to sleep! And all because of a snotty nose Sadso I'm laid beside him on my bed, as its the only place he will sleep.

Ninja away!
Evil

PurplePidjin · 24/06/2013 21:05

Pass R also has a fondness for Carole! We keep meaning to email her a pic but it's usually in our pigsty of a bedroom

Kyzordz · 24/06/2013 21:29

Righty, catching up on posts from last night, bear with me! Currently got chicken casserole with peas and braised beef and sweet potato stuff cooking ready to purée so need to see to that too. Did cauliflower cheese earlier and I thought it was rank! He ate 65g of the stuff though! Weighed the portions for a change as I have no idea how much he eats tbh I think it's best I don't know cos then I can't get hung up on it

Soo....

detective do you cut up the dried fruit teeny tiny or just give it how it comes? Want to try e with some as he loved the soreen but typically anything raisin sized looks all chokified to me! Good to know o manages ok though, e seems to do quite well these days still not well enough for me to stop panicking obviously I read dried apricots are good but he's bound to bloody choke on one of those unless you cut them all small like?! I also appear to have ran out of jars.... And have only just realised this :/ I have a load of apples to do but cba to do them tonight, have been doing purées quite a bit today! Have a fish and veg in cheese sauce to do and a bolognaise one to do tomorrow too. Fuck knows where I'll put those!!! The tuna croquettes from the blw book can just go in a bag I think so they're ok

Nice to hear from you rowing sounds like Louis is doing really well! Glad you enjoyed your holiday :)

I noticed pp, do you need some hugs and vino? Bless you :( r sounds so adventurous with his food, I really want to try e on something with a bit of a kick but don't want to upset him. Any recommendations of what kinds of things to try him with first? :)

Didn't realise seeded bread was ok but chasing not sure if I should just leave it off the menu now :|

Argh pr I can see why it's such a pita for you - were you hoping to tackle DDs night times once you got back from your holidays? My mum was like that with her food and wouldn't eat from anyone but her uncles plate until aged 6!! Hopefully you can sort dd out before then but I've no idea how you could go about it. Perhaps recover from hols and rectify the food thing first or try to because its not been going on for so long and then once she's back to normal go for the sleep ishoos.

Hope n's snotty nose goes soon evil sounds like he's doing amazingly well!!!!

Phew I think I've caught up! Hope good nights are had all round tonight :) am bolloxed! E has decided that squealing at supersonic levels is the way to go today as is bouncing like a hooligan! I have an hilarious video of him but he's in the nuddly so probably isn't suitable for the fb group!

BigPigLittlePig · 24/06/2013 21:45

Kyz I just give F a whole dried apricot, she sucks it to death then nibbles little bits off. With softer things though, that don't require nomming first, like strawberries, I just break little bits off and stick them in her gob. She looks like this Shock then this Grin.

PurplePidjin · 24/06/2013 21:46

Kyz I've frozen purees in ice cube trays then the next day turned them out into a resealable freezer bag. Saves space and pots! Then chuck into a lidded tub to defrost over night.

R gets what we're having in adapted form - tonight was spag bol so he had his with the teeny star pasta. I think it's just luck of the drawer though, i have a good eater/crap sleeper. Bet he gets fussy as a toddler!

PR have you tried leaving her to eat alone? Dn used to get overexcited at having us all there round the table, refuse to eat and just whinge and moan, then gobble it all up once we'd gone off to the next activity. He's got better now he's at school and communal eating isn't so stimulating iyswim?

Kyzordz · 24/06/2013 22:01

I'll try him with apricots then bplp and perhaps other things, haven't seen dried strawberries, should probably go somewhere other than tesco, guessing a health food shop will have more selection?

pp good idea, then I can just defrost a few cubes depending on what he eats amounts wise I guess! E has had spag Bol before with tiny pasta and loves it, tis why I'm making him more for emergencies :) I guess it is just luck of the drawer, I don't want to jinx it so I won't tell you I have a fab sleeper and crap eater. As much as I stress about his eating I am oh so grateful about his sleeping! I bet when they're toddlers ill be moaning he doesn't sleep and you'll moan r is fussy lol!

pp she won't eat on her own either. She eats full meals but on us and from our plates. If she's on her own she doesn't seem to want to eat at all.

Problem is once am back at work I'll need them both fed and in bed before DH gets back so that (a) they can be up early enough for nursery and (b) so that I can have some study time before I go to bed as I will be up v early every morning for the commute (DH will get them to nursery but work later than me). I think everything will slot into place then, but I want to get it sorted before as it is stressing me out so much not being able to sleep.

ValiumQueen · 24/06/2013 22:34

PR is it time to get tough and do rapid return? I so feel for you x

ValiumQueen · 24/06/2013 22:40

Yes. Everyone has fucked off to FB. Look what you started MM!

BigPigLittlePig · 24/06/2013 22:44

Dread to think how many emails I'll have tomorrow...."99+ new messages", each and every one from fb Hmm

izzybizzybuzzybees · 24/06/2013 22:47

I'm here. J is feeding. Then I will get two hours in my bed before he ends up in it with us.

ValiumQueen · 24/06/2013 22:49

I have given up. My head hurts. My phone has not stopped pinging.

I hope you have a good night Izzy x I know it is probably an unrealistic hope, but I still do x how is your pinky now?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 24/06/2013 22:50

Sorry bplp! Had to post the pics!

TheDetective · 24/06/2013 23:22

Sorry Blush.

My phone died through sheer volume of notifications!

Bedtime here.

Had a speed read through - Kyz I just give them as they come! He will have the odd choke and splutter, but he coughs it back out. Haven't tried apricot yet Grin.

DP thinks O reacted to mango because he had some for lunch then vomited a few hours later. While I was out he gave it to him for dinner also Hmm and then he vomited again.

Personally I think he just had too much mango!

O loved mango and apple on toast for his lunch! We have managed 3 days of lunch now. :)

DS1 enjoyed his day in high school. I felt 11 all over again. I've only just left high school myself, I'm sure of it Hmm. How can my baby be going?!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 24/06/2013 23:24

It's bloody sore still even after Brufen and buddy strapping!

FatimaLovesBread · 24/06/2013 23:31

BPLP turn off your FB emails, I only get emails for v important things now, otherwise just get notifications.

Erm trying to remember what I've just read.

izzy Tough decision re. BF. when I go back to work m is going to just have to have boob before and after i think as she's a bottle refuser. But if he's not having any solids that's a bit hard to do, and obviously I don't have to cope with allergies. (((Hugs))) are you trying a bottle? Could you try a cup?

bplp are you giving formula or EBM when you're at work?

chasing Yay! To the private rental in MK plan! And I agree, property porn.
Talking of property porn did anyone watch escape to the country on BBC1 yesterday afternoon? There was a house near me that was lovely but £925k Shock

Re. TV, M loves TV but mainly theme tunes, she'll zone in for the song on Big Bang Theory and then carry on playing.
She loves pointless, even stops feeding to watch the numbers go down. I wonder if its because I watched a lot of Pointless when pregnant?

As well as make my living room into a bombsite, M has manaed to crawl across the floor today! It was a funny crawl, she kept trying to straighten her legs to stand mid-crawl, but she got to the book she wanted.
She also stood herself up holding on to DHs legs and then shrieked with laughter at doing it.

I've forgotten what else I wanted to say.....

Oh yeah, that in feeling much better and happier today. Still shattered as didn't managed to get to sleep until 2am again but woke up feeling chipper and bright. Today must be a peak and last week was definitely a trough.

Sending my happy vibes to everyone else

kirrinIsland · 25/06/2013 01:23

((Hugs)) to stunt

Yay to chasing - a great decision :)

Holiday sounds lovely river And Shock at standing - N is barely sitting.

There must be more, but I feel a bit brain dead today every day

ChasingDaisy · 25/06/2013 01:50

Fatima O also stops whatever he is doing to watch the numbers go down on Pointless Smile

First wake up here - that's almost 7 hours Shock A new record. Found him sleeping on his tummy so maybe that helped. Was expecting an horrendous night as he hardly fed at all yesterday.

ValiumQueen · 25/06/2013 02:30

J awake but he did go down at 8 which is very good for him of late. Had a bottle but is not settling so may need to get up with him again. Hi chest I think or maybe wind. He puked a bit of his milk back with coughing and has done some big farts. DD2 coughing and has a fever so not much sleep for me. DH sleeping through it all, but it is his birthday. I have done nothing as been home with sick kids.

ValiumQueen · 25/06/2013 03:32

He has been awake 2 hours and just nodded off in his bouncer. I have never seen so much snot in my life. Poor wee thing. Looks like I may get a bit of kip on the sofa now. Great. Can hear DD2 coughing.

ValiumQueen · 25/06/2013 04:00

Waves into the void.

On DD2s floor now. J still in bouncer downstairs. Fucking great this. She will not be at nursery today. I feel unwell too, have done for a few days. Wish someone would lay on my floor until I fell asleep.

FatimaLovesBread · 25/06/2013 04:26

(((Hugs))) VQ! You've had enough snot and illness to last a lifetime Sad

Wake up and feed number three here, 11pm, 1:30am and now. I need to start looking in to getting her to go longer soon. Too tired now though so I'll take what I can get.

StuntNun · 25/06/2013 04:27

Oh VQ that sounds horrendous. Any chance of a nap tomorrow?

J hasn't been too bad tonight, only three wake ups, but we're cosleeping and I have been pushed right to the edge of the bed. Not sure it's worth the better sleep. Still I haven't fallen out yet.
