Morning all! Blimey was it hot yesterday or was it hot. I felt for Murray... he must have been dying in the heat. Makes the win extra impressive though! I am slightly relieved things are a degree or so cooler today, as I'm not sure the worselet has developed a full appreciation of summer yet. In fact judging from the meltdowns I'd say she bl**dy hates it. Pity we were at the SIL's. Although perhaps not. SIL is v broody and convinced babies are a breeze. This is largely because every time she has visited us the smallest person has been on best behaviour and has rather given the impression babies smile, gurgle, drink milk and nap on cue. The fact that they also scream blue murder, head butt, and wail inconsolably at the sheer injustice of being offered milk of all things probably came as a bit of a shock Wink

Sympathy to all of you suffering from hot bedrooms and wakey babies. The only advantage of living in an ancient house is it is always cool. Sometimes, like winter, it is far too cool... but summer it is lovely.

SoYo and Plonko how funny - more small world coincidences. Isn't the internet weird. You can be chatting to a near neighbour and have no clue

Leni I've been giving dd some water after her feeds if she is still thirsty. The only way I can get her to take it is to add some cool boiled water to the dregs in her bottle so that it still has a slightly milky taste. It seems to be working as she seems comfortable, but it isn't messing up her appetite.

Right, I'm off out now to tolerate enjoy the sunshine.

SoYo · 08/07/2013 18:49

You're all very quiet today! Sunstroke? Buggy bootcamp was punishing today but hopefully I've sweated off some of my gut! We've mostly been either in the supermarket or inside today as madams suffering in the heat a bit but now that it's settling we've been to the park & are now lying in the garden. Hope you've all had fun!

ecofreckle · 08/07/2013 19:30

hello sun worshipers. I slept a little last night and then honored my meeting with personal trainer at 0800. Am a nutcase. So, soyo I was with you in spirit. It was pretty vile. She said she'd take it gently with me and the next min had me on the floor doing 'planks'. My womb remains internal though so I'll take that as a victory.
I went on to nct ladies meet up in garden where babies hung out on blankets and differences in the babies Willy size was noted. baby erections also discussed. apparently they are all fascinated with their dinkles. At which point I quietly thanked mother nature for a girl baby.
dd is 15 weeks today so we had fun taking the weekly photo. I love flicking through them to gasp at the change.
We went on our mission to get a £22 sheet from Jo Jo for the next hot night and are now armed with fan too.
Am currently eating dinner in garden. Not in my pyjamas plonko but in a dress as I'm off dancing. Am late so will dash.
How have everyone else's days been?

LaLaLeni · 08/07/2013 20:12

Eco - WTF, baby erections?!!!

plonko · 08/07/2013 20:48

Leni just you watch out for it when you next change a nappy...

pudtat · 08/07/2013 21:23

While I can't believe you haven't noticed the phenomenon thus far Leni, maybe this explains your oh's diffidence! Grin

Lovely few days enjoying the weather, dinner in the garden again. It's what we bought the house for in many ways (we have a lovely view) but recent summers have provided precious little opportunity!

Kit day tomorrow. Great time to be stuck in an office... Sigh.

AlphaBetaOoda · 08/07/2013 22:34

leni It's amazed me how quickly ds learnt to play ...

LaLaLeni · 08/07/2013 23:20

Ladies... STILL WTF??!!

This hasn't happened. I thought it wasn't possible until later?

DS's is just a little (well, perhaps larger than I expected) limp thing!

LaLaLeni · 08/07/2013 23:29

I realised googling it would probably put me on some sort of register.

pudtat · 09/07/2013 05:43

My midwife was keen to point out that little boys get little erections from the get go when we did his first nappy change. It just goes a bit firmer and doesn't just lie flat against his mud flap to stop poo getting under his chin scrotum. Not exactly the stuff of the adult channels. Often a good indicator that he's about to have a widdle on his changing mat though and makes it easier to clean underneath (practical sort, me) Smile.

First waking at 5.10 today, yay! Need to get up at about 6.30 to get ready for work and fit extra feed in before I go though, boo. Can't see much chance of me getting back to sleep at this point. Hmm

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 09/07/2013 07:25

Jealousy, pud - third waking at 5 here. Will this baby ever figure out how to do a decent stretch of kip?

Have nothing to add re baby erections, but I do know your sons will eventually need to be taught how to wash under their foreskins (except KF's, presumably). Good luck with that, I wouldn't have a clue where to start!

plonko · 09/07/2013 08:34

Stormy I think that's a dads job. I wouldn't know how to change a girls nappy, too many flappy bits.

Dp brought an oscillating fan home from work last night, amazing! DS has recently decided that he'd like a bottle at 4 am now please. Am seriously wondering how long moo juice is really going to keep him satisfied. Hmm. Would really have liked together to the end of August before having to think about this!

SoYo · 09/07/2013 12:27

Stormy I think some babies are destined not to sleep and we've got those ones!

I've had a complete technology nightmare and lost everything from my phone from the last 6 weeks including all my photos of DD. I'm gutted, there was some really special ones in there!

We've had a nice walk in the park this morning but its getting a bit hot to be out now! I think I'm going to go and try to buy a paddling pool, DD loves the water so as long as I add some warm to it I think she'd appreciate a splash about!

Eigmum · 09/07/2013 14:05

Hello all! We are back from a great wedding in the Cotswolds. Had a fab time. Highlights included mini eig return to full health ( if you count her as in full health when born!) and mini eig sleeping through, 7 til 7 on just the boobs! Miracle, we've had 4 days of it and I feel fab! We just went from two feeds at night to none as soon as cold gone! Lowlights included me leaking on pink silk dress during photos due to baby crying and having to be strategically positioned in the girls line up to cover it up! Last jabs today ..... Well at least until they are 1!

worsestershiresauce · 09/07/2013 14:06

SoYo can you take said phone into the phone shop and get the nice teenage geek behind the counter to do a magic retrieval thingummy? And before anyone gets all politically correct on me there is always a teenage geek. Fact. They also always know how to sort out these sorts of problems not that I ever sat on my phone and broke it. Oh no...

V hot here again today, and I am hiding in the kitchen from a) the heat, and b) the power tool mania that is going on outside. Men are doing gardening type stuff. Before the arrival of the small person I used to have to do said gardening stuff. Given the weather I am happy to relinquish the responsibility.

Not much else doing today to be honest. I'd like a swim, when men vacate the pool area. Me and my post natal wobble require personal space. Large amounts of it. Actually that said I'm probably less self conscious now than I was before. I mean, once you've had a stranger's hand up your bits, and flashed your boobs in the local cafe there ain't a lot left to be precious about really, is there?

Eigmum · 09/07/2013 14:08

Ps I am investigating buggy boot camp while I might fit a size 10 dress my tummy looks awful! Need to get it back in shape!

worsestershiresauce · 09/07/2013 14:09

Well done mini-eig!!!!!!! Smile You go girl.

Less well done mummy Eig. Leaking in the photos? Tsk Wink

Rainbowbabyhope · 09/07/2013 17:00

worsewith you on the personal space point and even though I didn't have anyone anywhere near my personal bits pretty sure I have flashed a few people! Went to sling library yesterday that is also a breastfeeding support group. All mums feeding without covering up - it felt very liberating!

SoYo · 09/07/2013 17:04

Sounds like a success all round Eig (leakages aside). Sleeping through must be amazing!

A little part of me wonders if madam is waking through habit rather than hunger but when I've tried just settling her rather than feeding her she completely looses it. I think I just need to accept that she needs overnight feeds & just hope it stops at some point!

Worse I was thinking about you and your pool enviously earlier! I went to buy a paddling pool poor alternative but everywhere is sold out! Boo. I think a trip to the Lido a few miles away might be in order!

worsestershiresauce · 09/07/2013 19:30

I'm v lucky I know. I'm making the most of it to be honest as next week DH goes back to work so the swimming ends (unless I fancy a 5.30am dip.... which if the weather stays like this I might!)

Hope you all have good nights. I'm not feeling positive myself as the worselet does not really do summer. There has been much screaming today, despite several pacifying cool baths.

ecofreckle · 09/07/2013 20:08

soyo just sharing what two friends with babies waking every two hours have had success with. if they wake and you suspect not hunger then leave in cot but rub back or tummy and soothe with voice. after three mins leave for three mins and if crying after that time repeat the soothe. both friends never had to do more than two cycles of that process and after three nights the frequet waking ceased. they still wake for food a couple of times tho, which is fine I guess. I know the sample size is only two but just a thought for you. I realise that in the night this will feel like hell though. good luck for tonight.

SoYo · 09/07/2013 20:17

Thanks Eco, I think I might give that a go after the heat wave passes. I managed to get the last fan in homebase today so hopefully bedroom will be slightly cooler if a lot noisier tonight!

worsestershiresauce · 09/07/2013 20:53

SoYo you might find the fan helps mini-yo to sleep as babies love white noise. We used to tune the radio between stations and leave it on low all night to soothe dd, and I may even have been known to get up and vacuum the house at 1am on bad nights Grin.

pudtat · 09/07/2013 21:17

Boy was apparently lovely today while i was off being a grown up with the exception of refusing most of his bottles... Bit of a worry given the heat. Hope he'll catch up overnight and tomorrow (did I actually just wish for him to wake more overnight?)

Must away to my bed as effectively got up at 4:50 today and no chance to nap at work! Rubbish Wink

Jabs tomorrow, hope he takes them in his stride like the last ones. Fx.

Hope new ruddy expensive muslin sleeping bag will prevent overheating tonight - it's a bit cooler here. Have happy nights all!
