Hi ladies

Just thought we could all really do with this. Rather selfish a its mostly for the thousand odd questions I have and things I'd like to share/ vent that no one else would understand.

We've all been together so long I even talk about you all to DP

hi everyone. I'm new to this. have a gorgeous little boy born 20th may. also have a 5 year old son too.
Missing the support I had from a great antenatal then breastfeeding group the first time round so hoping this forum/chat will help.

I had a go at putting him down earlier with your suggestions. I put him down after his feed at 7. I gave him another one at 10 o clock. He woke up at 3:30 but kept having to put his dummy in. By 5 o clock he was screaming the house down so I fed him. he slept from 7:30-8:30. I think I will try him again in a couple of weeks.

My little one hasn't done a proper long sleep all day... She fed ages this evening and had a relaxing bath. She has now finally gone down (it's 21.15 here) so hopefully this will be a long one. Will do a dreamfeed at midnight. So much crying and screaming today and lots of squirty nappies too. My poor little one and my poor nipples too! Apologies for the pity party

I went for a really long walk today, then crashed at 19:30. DS has now been asleep for 4 1/2hrs, which is about his longest, so Im guessing thats it for long stretches tonight... Yawn!

Hi genny, welcome! My lo was born the day before yours and I have an older dd (4 yrsold) I have been surprised how hard it is to juggle what they both need. I thought the baby would just lie there peacefully and let me get on with things, i go on the FB page more often now , see you over there!

Is anyone finding that their LO is requesting a feed every hour/2 hours or so because of the hot weather?

Buttery T is taking an extra feed in the day as well as his usual cluster feed. So 9 bottles a day. I make up 5 oz and he is drinking 3 oz at most of them but sometimes 5oz at night. Plus I'm offering him water as well

My LO has had a fever since overnight Friday and is just not feeding enough taking into the account the heat and his fever. He has
lived in a nappy since Saturday.
Going back to docs today as that's 3 days now. It was 39C when he was seen at hospital out of hours on saturday night and they've given me calpol for him. It brings it down to under 38 for a couple hours but then its back up again.

Sorry to here your LO is poorly genny do they now the cause? Have they checked for infection? This heat is difficult enough for them without having a fever a well, poor thing.

DD has slept pretty much all day in this heat and am now paying the price. She is yet to settle for the evening and is currently in my arms after several unsuccessful attempts to put her in bed. As soon as she's settled I'll be off to bed too. She's feeding every hour and a half at night in this heat. Bloody knackered!

Hi- I hope I can join in? DD was born 13th May. DS is 4, very nearly 5. Readjusting to having two and recovering from a very difficult pregnancy. You all seem lovely!

Hi pays, I've got a 4 yr old as well , we're all adjusting to life with our new arrival. I seem to spend all my time saying 'don't do that" and "do that" and "GENTLY!!!" Have you had all the school reception place hoohah as well?

Luckily getting a school lace was pretty painless (we live next door to the school) but I am hearing you on the 'GENTLY!'- poor child has had his life invaded by a small screaming smelly thing and is coping quite admirably really. Better than I did when my sister was born (I cut her hair off with early learning centre scissors....).

We saw our pediatrician today and he agreed that DS' tongue connection is quite short and we got a referral to an ENT specialist. Have to see when we can get an appointment, and what they say.

Still sticking it out, some feeds ok, some less pleasant... But DS keeps getting bigger (astonishingly so- very typical BF baby bump on his growth chart) so he's getting what he needs, and his mouth is growing, and the magic 9 week mark when I could finally see the light at the end of the BF pain with DS1 is approaching!

Things will surely settle down to pain-free BF soon, right?!?!

Rhienne, when you say tongue connection do you mean the membrane underneath i.e. a tongue tie?

My lo had hers snipped this week. BF is less painful but still struggle to get her to open her mouth wide enough sometimes.

Right on cue according to the wonder weeks book and app (is there an English app? I'm using the Dutch one) she is fussy, cries more, wants to be held lots and wants to be on the boob lots without really drinking. Reassuring to know what is happening and why, but doesn't make it any more pleasant. DH really struggles to deal with the crying. It aggitates him. For me it just makes me sad seeing her upset.

Yes - tongue tie, frenelum or whatever you want to call it. I'm also in a non-english speaking country, so the way they refer to it here doesn't translate directly.
