Hi ladies

Just thought we could all really do with this. Rather selfish a its mostly for the thousand odd questions I have and things I'd like to share/ vent that no one else would understand.

We've all been together so long I even talk about you all to DP Smile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

😄 oh my, Tiger! Hilerious!

I never had a 6 week check. I cancelled the one that came through automatically as A was in the hospital. When I took her for her pre-vaccine check I mentioned it to the GP and she just said it wasn't necessary unless I felt I needed one.
In the past I just say 'we haven't got to that stage yet, thanks'. They normally stop then.

pur one thing my DH does do which really helps, is gets up with the baby in the morning. She normally wakes between 7-8 and he will take her downstairs and feeds her while I sleep until 10 . Only 3 days a week he has to leave the house at 8 so I don't get this and it makes a huge difference. It's probably the only thing he is doing to help, but it is a good one.
Hope you manage to get out today. 💐

purrpurr · 29/06/2013 12:30

An emergency leg shave here too and I paid the price with half the skin on my ankle it seems, wore jeans in the end anyway. At least I'm in jeans though - big step up from jogging bottoms!!

Abstinence definitely works. We haven't DTD since, um, August. I'm 28. Maybe I needed a c section in the end because my foof has sealed shut??? Hmm, TMI for a Saturday lunchtime methinks...

purrpurr · 29/06/2013 12:32

Got out today with DH to a big retail park, much fun. So nice to be out! I feel a lot better and DD is temporarily unstifled :D

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 29/06/2013 15:28

purr Grin at broken fuff. you should have heard me arguing my dates when I was pg with dd2, if you only have sex once in a year, dates are rather reliable. Blush

bood they tend to choose inopportune moments to wake up. Wink

DH is out of luck here, ds co-sleeps and won't let me out of a 20cm radius at night. I can't even go to the loo without him waking up and demanding to be fed. I swear he can smell me. you'd think the milk and sick smell would be nauseous

rachywhite83 · 29/06/2013 16:42

tigger im with you !!!!Blush

Im having a really bad period. is this normal ? I haven't really stopped bleeding since i gave birth but it is really bad today. any advice ? is this normal ?

rachywhite83 · 29/06/2013 17:45

shelly81 · 29/06/2013 17:47

Ladies so sorry but TMI has anyone been suffering with piles ... I've got one today out the blue & its frikin agony never had any b4 and escaped them in pg so feel cheated that I've got 1 now xx

ButteryJam · 29/06/2013 20:15

I'm getting pain my breasts closer to my nipple but my breasts are not full and it doesn't feel like mastitis. Any idea what it may be?

ButteryJam · 29/06/2013 20:20

Re contraception - I'm also not sure what to use. I fell pregnant the 1st time of trying! So I've got to be extremely careful.

ButteryJam · 29/06/2013 20:23

Rachy white, I've got the same thing, suddenly a very heavy period.

Has anyone has second degree stitches? Have they healed?

TerracottaPie · 29/06/2013 20:52

buttery blocked milk duct a possibility?

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 29/06/2013 21:44

Or thrush buttery?

scooby26 · 29/06/2013 22:52

Buttery- do u mean stitches for 2nd degree tear? If
So then me.

I haven't ' looked' but feel ok/healed- much better than last time with DS1! We are 5 wks now..... I have. No plan to test with DTD!

InNeedofSomeSleep · 30/06/2013 07:44

Bunny I was terrified about DTD after our 1st coz of stitches from 2 degree tear and I think it was more in my head. This time I tore again but not stitches and we DTD on Friday and everything seemed ok. My DH was starting to pester me about how long it would be. Couldn't make any more excuses. My mum said to me you must make sure you get back to as soon as your ready coz the longer you leave it the more worked up you get about it in your head. It was nice to not be arguing or a change and enjoying some husband and wife time.

Beaut we will be using condoms and DH is booked in for vasectomy in August. I have always taken the pill even tho I can't have oestrogen so had to have pills that made me put loads of weight on and also I don't the hard work having the babies so its his turn now. His uncle keeps trying to talk him out of it but I have said if he ever wants to DTD again then he will have it done. 2 babies is enough for us.

Purr you always feel better after being out and about.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 01/07/2013 20:32

Haha think I killed the thread!!

Boodstress · 01/07/2013 20:52

I always think that when I divulge something lol

ButteryJam · 01/07/2013 21:01

InNeed, I think you are really brave to have had DTD so soon! I don't think I'll be able to do it anytime soon. My down there is still very sore and it just feels way too soon.

On another subject, is anyone's little one going through a growth spurt? We are reaching 6 weeks and feels like this may be another one - she is demanding feeding very often.

Rhienne · 01/07/2013 22:07

So - three steps forwards and two steps back - we are slowly making progress.

Today we went to the BF counsellor again, and the one I met today was very nice and very sympathetic . We concluded that it is probably oversupply and extreme sensitivity to cold that I am dealing with right now. So block feeding for the oversupply and normal treatment for blocked ducts every time I let slip a cold draft onto my chest. Yes - the treatment for those two conditions are the exact opposite of each other, which makes things... interesting. Hopefully we'll get the oversupply under control very soon, and then it will be plain sailing. Right? Right!

I have tests for bacterial infection and thrush at the lab now, should get the results Wednesday. So if there is any of that present, we can hit it with the appropriate medication. So nice to deal with someone who takes it seriously, and is willing to "rule out the possibility" of a treatable problem, not just say "I don't think you have that". And so nice to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about (Friday's lesson, don't bother going to GP with BF problems, unless I want to spend the time educating the doctor and telling them what tests they should be doing on me... and how to treat the problem should it be identified).

Bunnychan · 02/07/2013 08:38

rhienne that's exactly how I feel about breastfeeding. I have a real love/hate relationship with it. I'll have a good day where it all clicks then a hard day ( like yesterday's constant feeding frenzy) which temporarily ruins it for me. This Isnt helped by my DP who seems to have developed jealousy of my ability to feed so he gets annoyed when she's hungry and keeps rooting/crying on him. This has surprised me greatly as he is pro breastfeeding and he has feed her bottles of ebm. Men are weird!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 02/07/2013 09:52

bunny my DH Is the same. He is pro breast feeding, when I mentioned formula before ds was born he was "what would you want to do that for" but now when ds crys he hands him over with a "well feed him then"
Which isn't helped by me struggling to find the time to express when ds has constant feeding frenzies

TerracottaPie · 02/07/2013 16:49

Another one up and down with bfing. It's hard having it be DC4 and still have problems. But I had very similar issues with DC3 not that long ago and got through them so that gives me hope. Plus I'm a stubborn bugger with bfing. Sometimes to my own detriment I think.

Saw the HV yesterday for 6 week check and asked her to look in DD3's mouth as I'd thought the day before thrush might be coming back. It has :( And the signs on my boobs started today. So we're back to treating it again.

On top of that I think I'm on the edge of mastitis again and my body is doing its hardest to fight it. The price you pay for suddenly having baby drop one of the overnight feeds and you, in your knackered state, completely feed her off the wrong boob leaving an even more engorged breast. Such a prat...

Oh and to add a little bit more to my moaning (sorry, will make an effort to post something good and happy tomorrow!) I think I'm brewing a UTI. Based on past experience it feels like the start. I shall dig out the dipsticks next pee!

Oh, thought of a good thing! DD3 is quite awesome :o

mrsmooms · 02/07/2013 20:12

Terracotta, could you tell me what sort of things the HV does at the 6-week check and whether it's just for baby or both of you? My HV has only just phoned to arrange one even though DD is nearly 10 weeks, and we've both been seen for our respective checks by the GP in the interim so I'm not really sure what the point is.

Having said that, I have been less than impressed by our local HVs so maybe they have been avoiding me Smile

lollypopsicle · 03/07/2013 01:33

mrsmooms I think, if you look in the red book, it lists the things they are looking for in the 6-10 wk check-up. I might be wrong though!

NoForkNKnife · 03/07/2013 08:53

I've never heard of a HV 6 week check! Always had one at the GP....

ButteryJam · 03/07/2013 09:50

Terracotta, sounds like you are having am awful time, poor you ((hugs))

For mastitis, have you tried pumping out all the milk from the affected breast? Also rub with a very hot flannel before pumping for at least 5 min, right from under the armpits. The la lache league leaflet on mastitis is excellent. It also recommends placing heated castor oil (on a cloth) and place on affected breast. I hope it sorts itself out because really it is awful. All the best x
