Hi ladies

Just thought we could all really do with this. Rather selfish a its mostly for the thousand odd questions I have and things I'd like to share/ vent that no one else would understand.

We've all been together so long I even talk about you all to DP Smile

thanks lollypopsicle, will dig out the red book and have a look.

hope you're feeling better very soon, Terracotta!

Zorra · 03/07/2013 12:10

Hello ladies! Been out of the loop, will find a quiet minute (hahaha!) to catch up.

Had our 6 week check today: missy has put on 3lb since birth Smile I've put on 7lb Blush which is horrifying. So went straight to the nearest weightwatchers meeting. I must stop snuffling up chocolate every time I sit down to feed...

lollypopsicle · 03/07/2013 12:50

nofork I don't think I get a 6-10wk check with HV but I thought I saw a space to record one in the red book. I'm stuck feeding again so can't check right now but will do in case I've made it up Grin

We're off to a home birth workshop tonight to tell everyone thinking about 1 how great it is!

LO is being nightmare baby today (& last night) think she has trapped wind which is causing discomfort, poor thing. I feel sorry for the neighbours as she has a mighty set of lungs on her Confused

Terra I get very single minds about bf too, I can relate to what you're saying. Hope your boobs behave for you soon!

TerracottaPie · 03/07/2013 14:08

mrsm HV just did weight, height and head circumference, asked how I was doing, how mood was, how bfing was going...that kind of thing. Don't know if they do it in preparation for the GP review where it's heart, eyes, hips etc check or just because they've found it a good way to spot any issues early on.

I'm just very thankful I have such a lovely HV. She wrote the prescriptions for the thrush to save me having to go to the GP, told me to ring her if I need anymore as she's always driving around and can pop in.

Thanks buttery and mrsm hopefully I'll be feeling better again soon. buttery I've generally been doing all that (sadly too experienced with mastitis!) and I think this time I've kept it at bay enough to not need antibiotics. The high temp went last night and that boob is less sore than it was. Fingers crossed!

lolly glad I'm not the only one! Home birth workshop sounds great. I'd have loved another homebirth. Such an amazing experience. Very happy memories :)

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/07/2013 14:17

Terra That must be awful being ill yourself when baby is too. Hope everything clears up soon for you. T has thrush again. He's so upset I can't put him down he just sounds in pain and isn't feeding much.

Zorra I joined Ww last week. First weigh in today eek

Waves at Beaut I'm sure I saw Ten on the WW thread, maybe we should start a very specific May babies WW T

Ow Terracotta. You have my full sympathy! It totally sucks when your boobs wont stop hurting! Fingers crossed your problems clear up soon.

No call for me today, so I'm guessing my test results haven't come through. Have to wait till Friday then.

lollypopsicle · 03/07/2013 22:00

Well done beaut!!
I'm joining slimming world next week...after I've bought done fry lite Grin

rachywhite83 · 04/07/2013 11:33

any advice great fully received ! Lo 7 weeks old. I give him a feed at 8pm and he will then sleep through till half 2 /3am. He will then take another feed (150ml) go to sleep and wake about 7am and then feed at 8am. any ideas on how to drop the 3am feed. would love to sleep through. He is formula fed and feeding every 4 hours in the day x

TheHammaconda · 04/07/2013 12:01

Rachy have you tried a dream feed around 11? Used to work for DS. At my antenatal lessons (in 2010) we were told that sleeping through was 6 hours. Your LO is already sleeping for 6 hours, you'd just like a different 6 hours!

Boodstress · 04/07/2013 12:16

You could cluster feed in the evening. I can't get DD to take a dream feed without it triggering the 3/4 feeding cycle again through the night so avoid it. She goes through to 4 most mornings from 7 so I don't want to rock the boat. I feed 3 hourly in the day but you could do last two bottle close together or add 4 0z in between last two feeds.

ButteryJam · 04/07/2013 14:07

Rachy and Bood, wow I'm really impressed by how long your LOs sleep! My dd wakes up every 2 hours :( even though we cluster feed between 9pm and midnight.

ButteryJam · 04/07/2013 14:09

I don't have a measuring scale to weigh myself but not sure how much I've put on.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 04/07/2013 15:59

Rachy, Kate is the same age and sleeps about the same but we put her to bed at 6.30. They start to stop wanting the night feeds on their own and you might notice that he will start eating less at that feed. Kate has 5oz most feeds but the night one she normally takes about 3oz coz she falls asleep so I just put her back to bed instead of waking her for more.

scooby26 · 04/07/2013 16:01

Rach- gradually reduce the middle nite feed- fact she wakes at 7 and doesn't scream for milk til 8 shows she doesn't need it... Then she will start taking 8am milk earlier who b means u. An give her more at other daytime feeds and she will drop it..!

Wish it was as simple BF! FF last time...I give FF 11pm Md he goes nywhere from
2-4 am - no consistency then BF and up about 8 tho often stirs 6.30 and cuddle back to sleep x

scooby26 · 04/07/2013 16:01

No 6hrs here :-(

Bunnychan · 04/07/2013 17:10

I said to my hv that my LO was sleeping through for a six hour stretch most nights. She commented that LO must be a good weight ( before she weighed her). I didn't make the connection before.

scooby26 · 04/07/2013 19:50

I wish it was simply weight.... DS must be at least 12lb but I have t give him his one bottle at 11 and he needs at least one feed ovanight..... He has done that since birth but never improved since.... I know I'm lucky to have had that but I'd have hoped it to have lengthened by now ;-)

Boodstress · 04/07/2013 21:39

Unthinkable the point about the weight is that physically they are 'capable' of surviving 6plus hours without a feed.

Boodstress · 04/07/2013 21:40

Ahhhh bloody iPhone & fat fingers 'I think' not unthinkable

Bunnychan · 04/07/2013 21:45

I just find it frustrating that those 6 hours can occur anytime of day lol! X

rachywhite83 · 04/07/2013 22:57

Thanks for all your advice. I fed him at 7 and he went straight down. fed him again at 10 so we will see how it all goes. I will let you know tomorrow !
