I feel a little bit bad about starting this thread just now as there have been heartbreaking stories on mumsnet over the past couple of days. Ladies our thoughts are with you.

This antenatal club is particularly special, as after a long difficult nine months for all of us we are now the lucky ones who get to hold our beautiful little babies. There are lots of challenges ahead for us, of course. but hopefully we can all continue to offer support , advice and friendship during the more happy times

Morning all, Where's everyone gone? Well,in case anyone logs in, little Emily is a birthday girl tomorrow! One year old, where has the time gone? She was weighed last week and is now 18lbs+. Not really walking yet but has tried to balance a couple of times, and has made it up the stairs a couple of times.
I'm now off to ice her birthday cake and wrap a few presents!
Hope everyone else is well.

twocatsonthebed · 26/04/2007 09:45

I'm here, thought this thread had died. Happy Birthday Emily! And hello Petunia.

Edie is a great squidgy lump of a baby these days, not quite rolling but very good at juggling her rattle. She's also good at going to sleep, so I'm not feeling too wrung out. Next step, worrying about going back to work...

Hope everyone else is good.

petunia · 26/04/2007 16:48

Hi 2cats. Glad to see you!
Are you still wondering about work (where do you work btw)? Aren't companies supposed to be more accomodating towards returning Mums now and allow them to be part-time if they want to?
You said about writing a novel, how about script-writing?

mygirllollipop · 27/04/2007 09:11

Happy Birthday Emily!
DD4 is about to crawl doing the whole on her knees can't get upper body moving stage. She can get anywhere on the floor through rolling and twisting. She communicates in raspberries! She reaches for anything when you are holding her up. I actually like this stage - gives her more of a personality. She's had an appointment about her feet and she will get better on her own. There was talks of her being underweight, it's all a mistake on their scales part. She's supposed to have gone from 75th centile to 25th in 7 weeks but she's only dropped to 50th in reality otherwise this means she put on 1lb 10oz in 10 days!
Other DDs doing well. DH overworked and underpaid as are most people and I'm fine.
Hope everyone and their DC are fine.

twocatsonthebed · 27/04/2007 10:36

Hello mygirl - glad to hear all is well with you and the dds. Fortunately dd here still, pretty much, stays where you put her for the moment, although I don't think that's going to last much longer... But I know what you mean, there's a real person coming through now, and it's a joy to see.

Petunia - in many ways I am extraordinarily lucky about work, in that my old co will probably let me go back part time and do some work from home if I want. (i'm self-employed, so not bound by maternity leave etc). But I have no desire to put dd into nursery for a good while yet, and, more importantly, really don't want to go back into tv! If I'm part time I won't be doing any of the interesting stuff, and I was getting pretty sick of it anyway. I'd like to do writing (of any kind) from home, but that probably deserves a whole other thread. What are you doing about work/not work?

petunia · 30/04/2007 14:11

2cats- I stopped working (was a Nanny and took DDs1&2 with me) in December 2003. The Mum got a job which meant that she was home when her 2 got home in the afternoons. At the time, I didn't really want to finish working (enjoyed the little bit of money coming in) but DD1 started school in January 2004 and I think it's a good thing I stopped now. I'll probably get a job when Emily starts school but not sure I'd go back to nannying. Might like to work in a garden centre because I enjoy plants and gardening!

Snowboo · 12/06/2007 20:04

Hi ladies!!! Has this thread died yet or shall we try and revive it?

Austin is walking now at 10mnths old! No one told me about 2nd child syndrome.... He follows ds1 about trying to copy everything he does. Luckily he sleeps through the night (apart from when the tombstones popped through) so i'm managing some rest before the daily onslaught

Slink, if i got pg again (which i'm most deffo not going to do!!!!!!) do you know if i have to go through the whole stitch thing again?

daisyboo · 12/06/2007 20:08

Hi there...just spotted this and as a recent graduate of the PG after MC thread (baby Emily Isabelle born on 5th June) thought about a starting a post-natal club. nice to see thee is one, as i would've been pretty lonely by myself.

Hi twocats.....nice to see your name again. I was formerly daisybump, but for obvious reasons have lost the bump!!

So can i join you all?

Snowboo · 12/06/2007 20:57

Hi Daisyboo, welcome to the thread! And congrats on the birth of Emily Isabelle.

petunia · 17/06/2007 19:58

Congratulations daisyboo, on the arrival of Emily Isabelle (fab name BTW, my DD's Emily Rose!)

Snowboo- can't believe Austin's walking. Emily's not even close! She's now 13 1/2 months and we've had balancing for a few seconds and actually had a couple of steps on Friday, but that's been it. But then why walk when you've got 2 older sisters to do everything for you!

Snowboo · 18/06/2007 21:50

Hi Pet!

Wow can't believe Emily is nearly 14months already! Seems to have flown by.

As for the walking, i think he has learnt quickly as ds1 loves to carry him about but he ends up like a squashed little blob!

Where have all the others gone to????

petunia · 19/06/2007 21:32

Yes, the 14months seem to have flown by. DDs 1&2 are all over Emily too. I liked the "squashed little blob" thing! It's kind of funny when these older brothers and sisters carry their younger ones any which way!

I don't know where everyone's gone. Cori's little one must be about a year old now (think she was due a week or 2 after me). Wish some of them would pop in and just update how they're doing.

Snowboo · 22/06/2007 22:20

I haven't seen Slink for ages, wonder where they've al gone?
Do you think they've gone to NM?

petunia · 23/06/2007 20:11

Might have done!

Well, after saying that Emily had only taken 4 steps, she's taken loads today all of a sudden! Actually, I think it was helped by being at my Mum and Dads (they don't have as much clutter as us!) so she didn't have many things to hold on to.
There'll be no stopping her now!

Snowboo · 23/06/2007 20:56

Yay Emily!! Now she'll be able to reach everything she's been dreaming of for ages! I think once they get their confidence theres no stopping them.

I haad to get some Ashton & Parsons powders today for Austin and they've knocked him out! Poor thing was asleep even before i'd lowered him into his cot. Now thinking i could use them for dh

petunia · 30/07/2007 19:49

Trying to check in once a month with news (anybody out there? Helloooooo?!!) Emily's just starting to do some proper walking without so much of the falling down now. Still a bit of a lurching toddle though! She's had quite a few colds recently (is quite a wheezy baby anyway) but hopefully now older DDs are off school, there won't be as many colds to catch now!
Hope everyone else is well.

Hi firstar. Congratulations on the arrival of your little one! This thread isn't really as fast moving as the pg after mc one, and people tend to pop on and off (sadly a lot of them seem to have disappeared "off" totally!), and sometimes a month will go past between postings! So I'm really glad you've joined us (I've been here since my DD3 was born in April last year) and hope more people will join us soon!

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/08/2007 15:29

oh, hello again...I'm here too. DD will be 11 weeks on tuesday. I can't believe the time has gone so quickly. Hi firsty...how are you and DS doing? have you recovered from your section OK?

My DH's birthday is 1st August. It's Yorkshire day as well so your DS can consider himself an honorary Yorkshireman

DD is doing really well. she's been sleeping all night as a regular thing for about two weeks now and usually goes from 8:30ish till 6:30ish. It's great getting lots of sleep again after all the months of sleep deprived pregnancy and the early weeks.
She's really alert and interacting with us and her toys...although she does like to sleep a lot too. i'm updating my profile with pics, so have a look.

hello to snowboo and petunia as well

there are a few recent births/nearly dues on the pg after mc thread so hopefu;lly this will get a bit busier soon!

snowboo · 19/08/2007 21:44

Welcome ladies! And congratulations to you both. Is this 1st time mummyhood for you both?

Hi Petunia, have been trying to catch up as i've been away, came back and the phone line was down, internet had crashed and both mine and dh's mobiles were out of action! (Didn't tell dh i'd actually forgotten to pay the bill ), Austin turned 1 on the 2nd Aug, we have his Baptism very shortly and i'm running about like a nutcase!
So how is Emily with her walking? Aust is too quick now, i have him and ds1 charging about like mad things, diving off sofas, under tables and in everything.... Driving me mad .

Well i see theres been no sign of anyone else, maybe i too shouldn't have time for MN??

Hope you're all good xx

daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 09:28

Hi snoboo....your dcs sound like a handful!

I also have a five year old DS with dethronement issues who is intent on sending me round the twist.

I started trying for another bub when he was about 3.5 and had 2 mcs before DD.
