I feel a little bit bad about starting this thread just now as there have been heartbreaking stories on mumsnet over the past couple of days. Ladies our thoughts are with you.

This antenatal club is particularly special, as after a long difficult nine months for all of us we are now the lucky ones who get to hold our beautiful little babies. There are lots of challenges ahead for us, of course. but hopefully we can all continue to offer support , advice and friendship during the more happy times

How lovely to find you all here on this thread.

It's so nice to see you are all doing well.

No luck here yet... But seeing you lot does give me hope.

I have missed mumsnet. I have not been on for a while now.. I suppose I have nothing to contribute so stay away..

Glad you are all well.

I will be lurking around...

hiya oinker, havent seen you for ages, hope your ok.
so are you still seeing LR? have you had any more PG or Mc? are you still ttc? was really hoping LR would work some magic and find a reason.
lurk away hun and contribute whenever you like, weve missed ya

and my so beautiful kids are little SH*Ts yesterday! however its all mainly down to space- which is my fault for failing to provide them with a fecking bedroom each- so its no wonder they break all their toys lose them all and fight continuously.

mygirl OMG losing power from snow- lucky you! i wish we had enough snow to lose power, i have great memorys from when i was a kid when that happened all the time. in london though we had a few inches but by the afternoon it was almost gone, and none since-just rain.

going to see a nursery tommorrow and if alls well am starting uni again.

twocatsonthebed · 13/02/2007 11:42

We had no snow! I was gutted - the local weather had promised us several inches, but we got nothing. I was really looking forward to freaking the cats out - they've never seen snow before. Still haven't, come to that...

Slink - your lot are absolutely gorgeous, really lovely pictures. And how was the nursery?

And there's now a picture of Edie up on my profile too.

oinker · 13/02/2007 16:44

I had about 8 months of tests and about three weeks ago had a hysteroscopy... They were supposed to operate but didn't. Prof found nothing wrong with me so op cancelled. I was there as a result of another load of wrong info from Queen Charlottes. They had diagnosed me with the fibroids, distorted uterus and sar tissue.
According to LR this would not be a reason for m/c's. All of the above are really minor. She has seen worst and those women have managed fine.
She has sent me away for 6 months.... They expect me back in July, slimmer and pregnant... She reckons my weight could be a factor. I have lost 3 stone but have a bit more to go yet.
Anyway, I will obviously give it a go....
In the mean time we are getting in us muh practice as possible

hiya twocats Edie looks gorgeous- how old is she now?

well the nursery was ok, but i left almost crying- im not sure whether it was because of the thought of leaving him or whether the nursery was crap.
but, there website said "open access policy encouraging parents to come and play or feed their child throughout the day" when i asked about this they said "i don't know where that came from and don't know which website you look at"
then i asked whether that would be possible if i came and breastfed him in my hour break at uni and they said "it would unsettle him, once they are in the care of the keyworker then thats that, maybe you should express"

then i saw the menu for stage 2 babies (edens age- slightly lumpier) and it said pudding ICE CREAM - i mean ffs don't mean to be all healthymelthy but babies dont eat ice cream do they?? well mines not gonna.
then they couldnt give me an answer about settling in and then they said the manager was too busy to discuss stuff with me, i said i will wait and they just told me to ring her, even though i said its important as my uni starts this week. And then theres the fact that there was a 1-3 babys ratio, but all the time i was there, there was 9 babies in the room with 2 workers, some babies were sleeping all over the floor and the ones which were playing were being shhhhed if they played too loudly!!!
and the highchairs looked dirty and in the changing nappy room there was a girl which was eating stuff off the floor whilst the worker was changing another babys nappy.

basically it was horrific so i am not going back to uni, i am going to see about childminders instead ready for next semester.

oinker- fab news that there is nout wrong in that dept but i guess you wish that there was so it would expain it all. However well done with losing the weight thats amazing 3 stones! yes hang on in there hope you get a bun in your oven real soon xx

i am a fatty too - maybe we should all lose weight together?? im starting on a really intense diet on Monday. im hoping to lose my 2 stone by may. i really want to go to the shops and try some jeans that go over my arse and not stuck below it lol

wow what a long post sorry if you've made it this far well done you now have bonus points

wools · 14/02/2007 14:49

Hi everyone,

Sorry not been on for ages. Hope you are all keeping okay. Have quickly skimmed through to catch up on everyone's news. Where will I find the piccies of all your lovely babies? I'll put a piccie of Orla on as well.

Orla will be 17 weeks tomorrow - can't believe how quickly the time has gone. She is gorgeous although gets me up quite a bit at night still. Am going to hold off solids until 6 months if I can - although dh is making noises about introducing them soon in the hope she'll sleep better.

Slink - that nursery sounds terrible. You are right not send her there.

Thanks Mygirl, will get round to putting my details on. Have had a quick look at all yours though - all the children are sooo cute.

twocatsonthebed · 16/02/2007 10:26

morning all,

Slink - I can't believe that nursery, it sounds miserable. And if that's what it's like when they are showing people round, it hardly inspires trust. So are you deferring going back now? and what are you studying?

Oinker - good to hear from you, and your weightloss sounds amazing. We clearly need your diet plan and willpower. I am the size of a house (I haven't weighed myself since I was 3 months pregnant, and don't propose to shock myself now) and so could do with a kick up my very copious arse.

Hello Wools, good to hear from you - would love to see a picture of Orla when you can...

Not a lot to report here, Edie was three months this week, which seems both a lot and no time at all, if that makes sense. I'm already starting to panic about work - really don't want to go back into tv as it's a very full-time thing, but then don't really know what else I might do. And, esp after Slink's story, really can't face putting her into a nursery yet. Ho hum.

wools · 20/02/2007 13:55

Hi all,

Twocats, when are you planning to return to work? I think I will take the full 12 months maternity leave this time. I know what you mean though, don't really want to go back at all.

slinkstar · 20/02/2007 16:07

hiya all
well i saw some childminders and one of them was ok i guess, but i think i would freak out leaving him with anyone. Dp has decided to take the afternoon off when my class is so he will look after him, it still means i will have to leave him for 5 hours !!! how am i gonna do that my boobs will explode, he still feeds so often.
well 1st class is friday i'll let you know how it goes but i know i will not know what the tutor is on about, i have spent far too long thinking about pushchairs and toys and nappies and weaning etc

anyway my diet started yesterday anyone wanna join me? I doing a really intense fortnight to start me off and hopefully lose a stone- is that even possible?

Snowboo · 20/02/2007 16:12

Hey Slink, i've just munched through a choc pudding thing and now i'm on a major diet! Have a wedding an a couple of weeks and need to get back to a reasonable size. (And so i can fit into the new trousers i've just bought!)

Good luck with Friday x

So how much is it ok to diet while still bf? I'm just trying to eat less cake and squash, and have yoghurt rather than toast in the morning. However, I'm feeling a bit ground down today (don't know why, got 7 consecutive hours sleep last night) and so comforting myself by eating anything that isn't nailed down.

Wools - have absolutely no idea what to do about work, and every time I try to think about it, my brain wilts. Up until last year I was working as a series producer, but I really don't want to go down the full-time childcare nanny route just yet, so that's pretty much out of the question. Which leaves development*, and to be honest I hate doing that so much (have been for the last year) I would rather jab myself with pointy sticks. Or be broke, more realistically. But I may be able to do this (or at least writing up proposals) partly from home, so may have no choice in the matter. Really, I need another career, so if anyone has any good ideas, let me know. I'd like to do an archaeology degree, or write a novel, but neither of these will keep Edie in nappies. hey ho. I keep thinking we can move to the Outer Hebrides to keep our outgoings down (DH works from home and just needs broadband!) but this is clearly silly.

Rant over, sorry.

*thinking up new programme ideas, in case anyone else is wondering. Horrible horrible job for a whole raft of reasons that I won't bore you with.

slinkstar · 28/02/2007 19:10

i lost 6lb!!! in 1 week - cor i could be on a slimming magazine front page eh lol
fat cow to skinny bitch in 1 week.

  • although got a good 1 and a half stone to go! i did have a choc quassont today though, so won't lose as much this week.

twocats- looks like you are going to have to find a new career or be a sahm- i would recommend it, i love not working
although thinking up new program ideas sound like a wicked job- I'd do it

well i went back to uni it was really horrible, but i am counting the weeks of the term to get it over with. I hated leaving him but in the end only left him iwth his dad as leaving him with a childminder or nursery was just too much! so i made dp take holiday every friday afternoon, it does mean we may have to have a shorter summer holiday.

mygirl- did you find oxford street ok?

Slink - 6lb! I am both impressed and . What is the secret?!

And yes, would love to be a SAHM, but I don't think we can afford it for much more than a year. Hopefully by then I'll have had some kind of idea about what I want to do. What are you studying at uni?

And how's everyone else doing?

Snowboo · 01/03/2007 16:01

Slink well done! Am also ....Give us your secret! I am trying sooooo hard but my MIL and friend both bought doughnuts for me. Cheers. Glad you've sorted Uni out.

My solution to the working problem is....Look after a friends baby as well as yours then you earn money, baby has a friend and you get to stay at home making a mess! (And dh then pays for a cleaner ) I love being at home.

slinkstar · 04/03/2007 22:27

im studing multimedia computing and its sooooo hard i was crazy to think i could do it! apart from being the only girl on the course the lectures make me fall asleep - my mind is stuck on babies not programming!!
i weigh in again tommorrow, i have been bad this week though my sins are - selection of buffet on tuesday night at cubs incl choc cake and a chocolate quassont on wednesday morning and a few tortillas friday and a couple of sweets today (ds1 fault he made me) ooh and then theres the vodkas friday night and the gravey over my fat free roast tonight!!! -OMG sounds loads when i write it down!
hopefully ive lost at least 1lb though!

whos still bf here??
