I feel a little bit bad about starting this thread just now as there have been heartbreaking stories on mumsnet over the past couple of days. Ladies our thoughts are with you.

This antenatal club is particularly special, as after a long difficult nine months for all of us we are now the lucky ones who get to hold our beautiful little babies. There are lots of challenges ahead for us, of course. but hopefully we can all continue to offer support , advice and friendship during the more happy times

Welcome fettle, yes it is strange to be over here isn't it, suddenly it all seems to ahve gone really fast, at least that's how it seems to me. glad to hear you and Toby are enjoying each other so much, i agree it is easy to bond with the second not as foreign.

Petunia- i nearly had a 1/4 of glass of wine today, but dh made me feel guilty he doesn't think it is safe to have any alcohol while pg or bf he does support me and not drink either.

Firstar- how are you going? are you still going back to work in 2 months or so? i guess that is a word you don't want to hear. i actually did some work last week (1 day) LL came too, was so tired after. I love being a mum, but miss my job too, as my work is too fun, a bit of a dilemma

Hi munchkin nice to see you

LL is now about 12lb, he has almost doubled in 5 weeks I better take some more small pics of him. i'm well but really impatiently wanting to be back to pre-pg size

Mumpbump · 26/09/2007 19:49

Hello, hello, hello! V. rxcited to make it on to this thread at last!!!! And pleased to see all the familiar faces!!

Sounds like everyone is doing really well! Am just posting quickly so I can find this thread and will be back tomorrow (hopefully) to have a proper read...

Munchkin28 · 28/09/2007 23:20

Hi All,

Just checking in Thanks for your welcome.

Hi Daisy, I remember you from the other thread too. It's great to see that you're here.

Welcome MumpBump and Fettle. Congratulations!

Petunia, my DD1 has just started school too and they miss each other terribly. DD2 has huge grins for her sister when we go and pick her up and DD1 gives her hugs and kisses.

Uki - I agree with you about work, I don't go back until January but I am missing it. I am really lucky that I have a good boss who has agreed to my request to change my hours to fit in with school/nursery runs and as I am working part-time I still get time with the children too.

Have a great weekend everyone!

daisyandbabybootoo · 30/09/2007 20:27

it's a bit quiet over here isn't it?

we're all fine. babyboo reached out to me from her daddy's arms for the first time today, which was lovely she also howled when i left the room as she thought she was going to get fed.

we're having the dreaded 4 month growth spurt and she is like a limpet, feeding every hour to hour and a half in the day, and feeding for over an hour at a time from 5 onwards with an hour in between.

it seems to be speeding up my weight loss so perhaps i shouldn't complain

hi mumpbump, glad to see you here at last. It does seem odd that we are all gathering here. hopefully we'll see rubles and ejt here very soon. they might both be in labour as i write

Mumpbump · 02/10/2007 21:22

Hi Daisy! I guess you end up on so many threads that it becomes difficult to keep up with them all. I found my antenatal thread just moved too fast for me in the end and there are so many people on it now...

How are you doing? I have a good friend who lives in Leeds who I was meant to visit in August, but never did. If I ever do make it in a northerly direction, we'll have to meet up.

Joseph is sleeping LOADS - he managed to stay awake for a whole 2 hours this morning - the longest time awake to date... It's been really good as I've been able to spend loads of time with ds1 which I think has been reassuring for him. He's absolutely besotted by Joe at the moment - long may it last - and our biggest problem is ensuring he doesn't squash him whilst showering him with cuddles and kisses. In fact, when I am putting ds to bed, if I say, mummy's going to the toilet and will be back in a minute, ds says "No mummy" whereas if I say, mummy's going to check on Joe and will be back in a minute, ds says "Yeah". Shows you where his priorities lie already!!

Hope everyone else is doing well. How is Levi now, Uki? How are your dsd finding it, Firststar?

Looking forward to catching up although I find I am very busy doing not much, iykwim!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:33

LOL mumpbump, I know what you mean about other DCs. My DS is five and he so wants to get involved. The latest thing is wanting to pick her up all the time. He knows that she will be getting proper food soon enough and is desperate to help feed her.

In fact he's so helpful that he was wrestling the breast pump from me on Sunday....while I was still using it!!

How old is Joseph now? Emily is 17 weeks already. It has been the quickest 17 weeks of my life, and I'm already starting to feel broody

Other than my PN thread I tend to flit around the boards these days. I'm trying to do the FLY baby routines at the moment as my house is a tip.....I just can't get anything done though as DD seems to be feeding all the time. She can be on for over an hour at a time these days.

Nice to hear from you, and no doubt ejt and rubles will be along shortly, then its ejb's turn

Back to bringing up baby....I'm intrigued and horrified in equal measure.

Mumpbump · 02/10/2007 22:38

Joseph is 12 days today! Ds is also very intrigued by the concept of mummy milk and has approached me whilst I have been bf, gnashing his teeth a few times... I said to dh, even if I didn't think it was a bit funny after so long NOT bf him, there is no way I want those gnashers anywhere near my bosom! It will be interesting to see what he makes of a pump!!

17 weeks - I know I keep saying this at the moment, but time is flying past at a rate of knots! I'm feeling a bit broody too, but since Joseph is dh's 4th child, think it's highly unlikely we'll have another one. Now I have two boys though, I can't help thinking it would be nice to have a girl... Guess it's quite natural when you have a new baby and all those hormones firing. Anyway, off to bed, but will catch you later!

Glimmer · 05/10/2007 14:24

Hi everybody. It's the first time I dare to read/post on a postnatal thread (was looking for EJTs birth story, but couldn't find it on the October pn thread).

Just saw so many namnes I am so fond of and wanted to leave you a quick hi. I have 6 weeks left and am Grand Dame in waiting :-) Can't wait to join you, my dear friends...

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 14:51

hey glimmer, I hope things are going OK for you It seems so long ago since you joined the pg after mc thread, but I'm guessing.....oh, about six months

Can't wait to hear your news!

ejt1764 · 09/10/2007 16:38

Hi all ... have finally managed to find you!!

Will post again soon - just wanted to post my birth story ...

Well, as you know I had acupuncture on Saturday afternoon (seems like another dimension), then when I came home, the period cramps got stronger, and more unpleasant, and I was running back and for to the loo all the time.
Took some paracetemol then went to bed with the TENS machine on, woke at 10.30ish and had a show - got very excited!! Went back to bed, and woke at 11.20 to a gush of pink liquid - panicked a bit as I thought I was bleeding, so phoned the hospital, and they told me it was probably just more of the show. 11.45, I had another gush, and started getting BIG contractions, so phoned them again, and they told me to go in.

By the time we arrived the contractions were rolling in every 2 minutes or so, and when I was examined I was already 5 cm dliated. I'd asked if the pool was free the minute I walked in through the door, and was told that some interest had been shown in it, but I was quite forceful about wanting it ... and as the cosultant had written about water on my notes, I was taken to the pool room. At the 1st examination, I was told that baby was back-to-back, so getting in the water was just magic!

After a while, the contracctions were really hurting my back, and I got the urge to push. Wonderful midwife told me that this was probably because of position of baby, and that I'd need to breathe through them for the time being. I had the good old gas and air, to take the urge off the need to push.

At about 4am, the midwife suggested that she examine me, although it wasn't really time, as I was having real problems blowing through the urge to push, so I got out of the water, and she examined me, to find that the baby was in fact already on her way down the birth canal!

I got back in the water, and started pushing, midwife was fabulous, quite firm with me, but not at all in my face. Eventually, it got to 5.30am, and as I had had a previous section, and was getting quite tired, she suggested I get out of the water, and we would assess whether I needed to go upstairs to the CLU.

The thought of not getting my natural vbac, and the walk from the pool to the mattress seems to have given me a 2nd wind, as I got down onto all fours and pushed the baby out 10 minutes later.

I tore quite badly (wonderful midwife sewed me up beautifully!), and also needed a managed 3rd stage as I was getting to the edge of the bleeding being classed as a pph, so consented to the injection.

Mairwen fed before we left the delivery room, then we went back to the original room we had come from where we had a wonderfully unhassled period of skin-to-skin, and got to know our new baby.

That was Monday 1st October - we came home later on Monday afternoon, and have been getting to know our daughter. I've had some difficulty establishing breastfeeding, but have been superbly supported by the midwives and breastfeeding cousellors at the hospital, and I think we're getting there.

I've also had a uterine infection, which isn't settling terribly well ... am seeing the midwife again tomorrow, and may have to go back to gp for some different, stronger ABs ...

I've laid a lot of demons to rest in the past few days!!

There are some piccies of us on my profile!

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 18:45

ejt, she looks adorable.

big congratulations again tou you and thanks for sharing your lovely birth story. I'm so glad you go the birth you wanted after all the fuss earleir on in your pregnancy.

I'm glad the feeding is getting better, it is so hard in the early days. Keep an eye out fo thrush after the ABs, It took a good few weeks before I realised that what I had and by that time it was very deep seated in my breast tissue and very painful.

this thread is very very quiet, but I've got it on my watch list so usually say hello to whoever is passing through!

Well Done you.....and you look far to glamorous in the photo of you and DD!

How is the SPD? are you restored to normal yet?

ejt1764 · 10/10/2007 13:19

hiya Daisy - lovely to hear from you ...

thanks for the tip on looking out for thrush - what do I need to look out for?

I have to say that I wouldn't usually use the word "glamorous" to describe me ... but thank you!!

The SPD is resolving, but slowly - I overdid it earlier in the week and am paying for that now: I'm going to be sitting with my feet up for the rest of today, I think!

News just in is that I now have a UTI to add to the uterine infection ... law of bl00dy sod strikes again!

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 22:38

ejt...fantastic BF resource here on Kellymom

My symptoms were atypical in that the only symptom I had externally was slight pinking of nipples and tenderness (which i just put down to new mum BFing tenderness) and DD had nothing in her mouth, which is why it got to the stage it did. Basically I had shooting pains up into my armpits which started towards the end of a feed, were excruciating for about 20 mins afterward, then intermittent shooting pains until the next feed.

Kellymom is great and has been a real help to me over the last few months.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 10/10/2007 22:41

Cori

I long to post on this thread.Im 33 weeks now after a stillbirth and its v v hard.

Congtats to all ladies on here

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 23:03

Oh CP, I didn't realise your 1st baby was stillborn wishing you all the best.

Friends of my BIL and SIL lost their first baby just before birth and have since gone on to have two more babies, if that is any comfort. Thinking of you over the next few weeks, your emotions must be running high

{{{hugs}}} xx

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 10/10/2007 23:14

Daisy it was my second dd.Thankgod i am blessed with a wonderful 4 year old dd.

Tis right about emotions.Today I have fallen out with everyone.

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 23:21

CP, I can't imagine how you must be feeling, at least with a MC you get past the worrying time at some point in your pregnancy, and can relax once that time is past.

Wishing you well, and I'll look out for your birth announcement

petunia · 11/10/2007 11:04

Morning all,
Congratulations to ejt, your DD is lovely (and yes, you do look glamorous in the photo!)

A "hello" to Chocolate Peanut (I remember you from the ttc after mc thread that was going in Aug '05). I know it's hard for you. Keep going, it's worth it in the end. I'll be looking out for you on here in a few weeks time.

Emily's coming on leaps and bounds. After only 7-8 weeks of walking, she's now discovered that she can climb on to our dining chairs, and from there on to the table! It's a bit of a pain to have to keep stopping what I'm doing to get her down! Hey, it's all part of the fun!

IamDaisy · 16/10/2007 23:36

oooh, this thread is slooooooooowwwwwwww

where is everybody?

check out my new pic of DD on my profile . she and her big bro are soooo alike.

ejt1764 · 19/10/2007 16:52

Hi Daisy - I'm here ...just having an extended babymoon ... enjoying the smell of baby head!

Uki · 22/10/2007 14:19

Hi all

Don't know where i've been, some catching up to do here.
Hi daisy -- you sound well, another LOL

Love the pics daisy and ejt, gorgeous children.

Hi Mump- yes we are well, LL is a dream baby he came to a meeting today and was perfect, sleeps and feeds well. I hear you on the dd, I love my boys but would also love a dd too, feel like i could cope with another 1 or 2 dc but not sure about going through the m/c scares again

We have been so busy back into the swing of some work, gym 2 nights a week and taking up sewing classes, mad I know.

where's firsty and the rest of the crew????

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/10/2007 22:37

I can't believe I haven't tripped upon this thread before - I wondered where you guys went! How lovely to have somewhere to celebrate and give thanks for our special gifts.

I was in the shop today when the lady behind the counter was saying that she hates half term and that she was permanently damaged by the summer holidays (she was an 'older' lady and was reminiscing). I just stood there and wondered why she'd bothered having kids. Don't get me wrong, I do have really bad days but I just remember how I felt through this pregnancy and how much I longed for this baby and of the babies I lost. So sad that we have to go through m/c in order to appreciate our children that bit more

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox! Should I be posting my birth story on here? I can copy it across from my postnatal thread if you like...

So lovely to see you all - uki, ejt, daisy, glimmer, mumpbump, firststar and of course fettle! I look back to earlier this year and its amazing we've finally got our lo's here with us. Has anybody seen time4tea?

My thoughts go out to those who didn't make it with us .

Hello to everybody else!

CP - I've been following your story and I really admire you. Hasn't time flown, I can't believe you're 33 weeks already! Looking forward to you joining us!

Sorry, I seem to have verbal diaorhhea tonight, I'll stop typing now!

Hi all,
just wanted to drop a line for all the old friends from the pg-after-mc-thread. I am due next week and the waiting game has started. Can't wait to join you. Any tips on how to pass the time so one is not constantly waiting?
You are not posting frequenctly, so I take it you are all well and busy. I will let you know once Lo arrives!
