Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 28/04/2013 20:41

Ugh I have no idea how I'm coping either :(

vq thanks for being worried about me. I'm ok just now...honest!

And pass I'm up for Ikea meets any tues or wed really!

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 20:43

Tears and temper tantrums here tonight. Mine.

Utter disaster. Feeding O his bedtime bottle happily, burped him, and the next thing, proper projectile vomit everywhere. Full bottle plus banana. Confused.

Swaddle and blanket destroyed and now in washing machine. O now refusing to sleep due to said destroyed swaddle and blanket. So DP is now out in the fucking car driving to get him to fucking sleep while the swaddle washes.

And worst of all actually I don't know which is worse?? the vomit has damaged my phone, and the fucking sound doesn't work properly. Only from the bottom speaker. The top one is fucked. Please please please let it dry out okay. :( The phone was completely submerged in vomit. I would now like to cry.

det turn the phone off and put in a freezer bag of rice. Leave it there for at least a day.

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 20:51

Actually, 2 or 3 days is better. Resist the temptation to turn it on in this time.

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 20:52

Oh. Just to clarify - don't actually put it in the freezer.

ChasingDaisy · 28/04/2013 20:55

Yes rice has saved many a phone here. After I have dropped them in the toilet. Yes, I have done this more than once.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/04/2013 20:59

Detective Thanks - use the aroma of these to mask the smell of vom. Bleurgh to projectile vom.

Hair is falling out in spades here. From my head. Not my legs, sadly. I am blessed with blonde hair so greys can lurk quite happily.

F has been in bed asleep since 7.15 Shock. Not a peep so far. And the secret? Ranitidine The cat was back in the room with her.

PurplePidjin · 28/04/2013 21:05

Brew for those in need and for Det

Parsnip is apparently preferable to sweet potato, although he's fascinated by biscuits crunching. It'll be a bloody long time before you get your hands on one of them, young fellow me lad!

Off to the new Southampton Kiddicare tomorrow :o i have a 10% off voucher they sent out, and m+s have their sale on too

Evilwater · 28/04/2013 21:07

Hello all,
I've hit a massive bump with weaning, Sad baby evil dosn't want any food! Shock. He seems to have a sore throat and is vomiting about 5 or 6 times a day, of little amounts. No temp.
all he wants is his milk , and meal times are beginning to be a battle ground. Sad any adivce is welcome.

I've tired to talk to P, but he dosn't want to talk.

Ill try and read the previous posts

ChasingDaisy · 28/04/2013 21:10

Detective have a big old cry. It will make you feel better. I'll join you.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 28/04/2013 21:10

Rice trick has worked for me too detective

Our day looks like this: 6am wake and feed, porridge at 7am, nap around 8.30am for 30-45mins. Feed at 9/9.15am, veggies and fruit before midday, followed by more milk. Sleep for either 45mins/ an hour or 2 hours (rare). More milk around 3pm and at 5pm, with a snooze between those two if lunchtime nap was short. Bath at 6pm, final bottle 6.30pm. Usually wakes once or twice a night, he doesn't get fed.

Currently he has 6 x 8oz bottles, but as his food consumption increases I will reduce down to 7oz bottles and stretch him to go 4 hours between milk feeds rather than the 2.5/3 hours we manage at the moment.

This time in 2 weeks will be the Sunday night before my return to wrk. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!

BigPigLittlePig · 28/04/2013 21:12

Evil maybe somethings upset him, or he's under the weather with a virus? I'd leave off for a few days then try him again.

Fs favourite toy lately is a weaning spoon. She has a total spack attack if she drops it, tears and everything. It's the perfect implement for spreading drool liberally across ones face.

Evilwater · 28/04/2013 21:23

Big- he's been like this for the weekend, and still no improvement.

Sorry I missed all the birthdays.

Naps- Baby evil has a nap at 9 ish for a hour if I'm lucky, and a nap in the afternoon, which can very in length.

Feeding- we were doing bottle and a few mouthfuls of porridge for breakfast. Bottle at 1030, then lunch at 12 with a fruit pudding. At 3 another bottle, then supper at 5 with pudding. Lastly a bottle at 730 ish at bed time.

At the moment it's just milk when ever he cries, he has no interst in food.

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 21:24

Thank fuck. Phone resumed usual functions. Shock

Baby asleep. In car seat. Will not move til swaddle is dry - which is now in tumble drier.

Fucking hell. Hmm

I succumbed to a kit kat. But just one. So that's ok.

Thank you for the rice idea. Luckily we have some. So if it starts pissing around again, rice, bag and warm it is! now I've calmed down, I remembered doing that a couple of years ago, when I dropped my 2 week old iphone in the bog in a campsite. I didn't drop it. It fell out my bag when I unhooked it from the back of the door. It survived!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 28/04/2013 21:25

Madam

When he wakes in the night and doesnt get fed, how long until he goes back over? What do you do? Do you go to him?

S really doesnt need the night feeds. I just havent a clue how to stop them.

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 21:26

I think O had too much food today. I am only giving him it once tomorrow.

Evil if he doesn't want it, it is fine. Just give it 2-3 days, and then try offering it again. :)

Evilwater · 28/04/2013 21:27

Oh, baby evil will be 7 months next week.
He's not got rolling yet, should I be worried? He still hates being on his front, but like to be on his side.

For a plus, he will pull himself up using my fingers to stand. He's very unsteady standing still, but he loves to walk/run with me keeping him upright.

Dixiebell · 28/04/2013 21:29

pidj, I'm jealous! I have the 10% off Boucher but can't get to Hedge End before it expires. In fact, was it you that proposed a meet up? I'd love to but have signed myself up for baby massage and swimming classes on tue and thurs, both in the middle of the day making getting there and back in time for picking up ds1 a bit tricky. Rest of the week I have ds1 with me, it would not be a relaxing coffee to have him tagging along... Will have more spare time in a month or so when my courses finish, I'd be up for a meet up then. Let me know what it's like!

Dixiebell · 28/04/2013 21:30

Voucher obv, not Boucher

Evilwater · 28/04/2013 21:30

Thanks detetive sorry to read about your phone! So unlucky. Hope O gets to sleep soon. Wishing you sleepy dust.

madam big hugs for going back to work.

Big I can't see F having a tantrum over a spoon. She's too cute!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 28/04/2013 21:32

wanna he is in the cot in my room. I let him shuffle about a bit. Usually before midnight I can just flip him back onto his back if he has rolled me got stuck, or pop a dummy in and he will drift off again. Somewhere between midnight and 2am he must go into a light sleep cycle because he wakes up wanting to play. Wide eyed, cooing and singing, and beams at me when I do eventually go over. I probably should just leave him to it but I don't want DD to wake up so when he does this, I go and collect him and bring him in with me. Sometimes he will settle just by being in bed with me, sometimes I have to place my hand firmly on his chest and keep reinserting dummy for a while to get him back to sleep. I should probably get him back into the cot but this way I get to lie down and snooze as I am settling him. I assuming he will eventually learn to put himself back to sleep or not wake in a light cycle . Oh, and any waking after 5am is the start of the day. I have no way of getting him back to sleep after then.

StuntNun · 28/04/2013 21:35

Don't worry about the feeding Evil, not all babies are good eaters and they won't necessarily eat when they're hungry. Just keep offering in a non-stressed out manner and if he won't open his mouth or seems disinterested then leave it. Don't offer lots of alternative foods and don't try to trick him into opening his mouth by doing 'here comes the aeroplane' or anything. I have two resistant eaters and by far the best approach is to just keep on offering and encouraging.

No grey hairs here yet at 37. I always wanted a white streak but I think you have to get hit on the head for that.

If only S would take a dummy. Oh how I have tried. She spits it at me.
