Haha at 5am doon I was racing downstairs to check on the cat Hmm with dd attached to boob

VQ F weighs 6.5kgish (15lbs) and is only on 0.4ml three times a day - it's because she's on such a low dose that I gave her the double dose in the evening. My GP had no experience of prescribing it, so looked it up in the kiddies BNF - which says you can go to higher doses. 2 or even 3mg/kg. I'm guessing if I discuss it with him, I won't get that far.

Happy birthday fruit - anything nice planned?

White noise machine is working a dream at getting F into her cot once she's asleep. She's a particular fan of the waves crashing onto a beach. Can't say I blame her.

kirrinIsland · 28/04/2013 11:02

Happy birthday fruit Thanks

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 11:08

I think I posted the dosage details before. I wonder if I saved it? P weighs 13.8Ib and is on 1.2ml 3xdaily of 15mg strength ranitidine. If I think she is struggling I notch it up by .1ml for a couple of doses. That is usually enough to be honest. I did once add 50% more because she was having an awful time but only for 1 day then I reduced it back down.

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 11:13

Our GP practice always goes for the highest dose possible - my understanding is that there is no harm in doing this and it keeps her completely symptom free unless she is poorly with something else. BP you are bright and know your shiz - up it as you see fit. Do you need the dosage info?

On noes. P has just done a jumperpoo! DH is on poo duty.

ValiumQueen · 28/04/2013 11:20

J is on quite small dose then. Good to know there is some room for manoeuvre.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/04/2013 11:24

Thanks pass - I think the GP went for the lowest dose due to lack of experience in prescribing it. If it's safe in higher doses I'm inclined to whack the dose up then - she's dribbling like a pro, smells acidy, hiccuping, coughing, won't lie flat. Need I go on?! Plus I miss my little girls chit-chats.

Will up it by 30% - to 0.8mls twice daily, and see what happens.

Have just had a "makeover", 5 year old stylee Confused - not sure what dh will make of the new look lol.

GTbaby · 28/04/2013 12:02

Stunt. Once cut how long can I keep kiwi? And avocado. As i dont eat them...So it's not like banana where I give him some n eat the rest.

StuntNun · 28/04/2013 12:09

Not sure GT. I would think kiwi would keep for a day in the fridge. If you're giving chip-size pieces of kiwi you'll probably find you need a whole kiwi for one meal as most of it ends up on the floor. I would peel it with a sharp knife then cut it into long strips lengthwise. Not sure about avocado (it's the one thing I really don't like eating), does it go a funny colour after you cut it up?

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 12:10

The dosage calculation is as follows:

Usually the maximum dose is 10 mg/kg per day, divided up into 3 doses.

P weighs 6.2 kg
10 mg x 6.2 kg = 62mg per day (maximum)
Dividing this into 3 daily doses makes 20.6 mg per dose
Since Zantac syrup is 15 mg/ 1 mL, 20.6 mg would be 1.3ml per dose

Last prescription of ranitidine I collected the doc had upped it from 1ml to 1.2. She must have checked the last weigh-in. I see that she has left a .1ml headroom which makes sense to me. It would be good if all GP's could look in the medicine book!

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 12:11

GT if you leave the stone in the bowl with the mushed avocado it will stop it going brown for a while.

Passmethecrisps · 28/04/2013 12:14

Question re kiwi! When pregnant I made a kiwi smoothie - it made my throat itchy. Yes, I peeled it! Is it a likely allergen? I was surprised to see it as a possible first food because of this. I love kiwi fruit though so would be happy for P to nom it. Just wondering.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 28/04/2013 12:15

Sorry to hear so many had shitty nights. We werent too bad last night and DP did one feed.

But he is driving me mad today. Hes working tonight 5-2am. So I got up with S at 8 and did the tidying, some housework, put the dinner on etc. He finally gets up at 11.30. Comes downstairs, moans that I havent washed his tracksuit bottoms (erm do I look like a skivvy?) and sits eating crisps, throwing the packets on the living room floor that I just fucking cleaned.

So now I need to do more cleaning, more washing and his dinner will go to waste because hes no longer hungry. Angry

fruitpastilles · 28/04/2013 12:29

Thanks for all the birthday wishes Smile
Just got back from church and am off out this afternoon to our local, all the family will be coming (apart from dp who is hungover from his work night out last night Angry) it'll be overrun with children as my cousins are all bringing their little ones as well. Should be a good afternoon Smile

Any teacher quichettes I have started a thread in The Staffroom about the possibility of me retraining as a teacher if you wouldn't mind having a nosy and maybe giving me some feedback: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_staffroom/1743178-Considering-retraining-as-a-teacher-would-love-some-feedback-straight-from-the-horses-mouth

Happy birthday fruit Flowers

No butchering display vq though I was amused when DD saw the chickens and said "c'est bon ca" - it's good. Chicken is her favourite food. Oh well, no point in her being squeamish about where her food comes from.

Didn't buy any meat as the queue was awful, so will have to order a freezer pack and collect. I try to buy meat in bulk from local farms as it ends up being cheaper and it's nice to know where it comes from.

I wouldn't freeze kiwi or avocado - just mash up as and when needed.

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 13:31

Fruit Happy birthday!!

BP I double O's dose. I give him 1ml. 3x a day. Been advised from 6 months it is twice a day, so would be 1.5ml twice a day.

He is prescribed 0.5ml. It isn't enough. Infact, I'm not sure 1ml is enough at the minute, as the refluxy days are increasing. Although that could be the carrot wot did it yesterday Grin.

We've stopped the carrot, even though he liked it, as he seemed pissed off all yesterday evening and this morning. Gave him parsnip. Usual service seems to have been resumed. He loved the parsnip and fed himself by holding on to my finger and controlling my hand! Funny monkey!

Still, I can cope with grumps in the day, as he continues to have acceptable nights fear of jinxing things.

YW Am desperate for a big spice rack. I have waaaaay too many spices, and so not enough room for them! Will go look at that seller! Ta!

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 13:33

Shock At 6 month sleep regression. You're fucking kidding!! WAAAAAAAAAAAH! We've only just got the hang of fucking sleeping full stop!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/04/2013 13:52

I don't know if it is common Detective but I remember DD1, having slept through from 12 weeks, starting to be difficult sleep wise at 6 months. LO is starting to not want to go to bed until everyone else is in the room. Am going to nip it in the bud by putting her in her own room next weekend. She's gone back to four hourly feeds. I'm letting it haplen for a few days while I kind of take stock and work out an action plan. At least I can be sure that she won't still be in our bed at 2 as she has never slept in our bed

Banana is pretty gross too. Lots of little black seeds that come out. I swear I had never noticed the seeds until weaning nappies came along.

Oh, and potty training isn't complete overnight of course. But she is Done for awake time. Suddenly got the hang of it the last few days.

Clarella · 28/04/2013 14:29

started posting pre ikea visit as dh insisted we got a new pillow if lo is on it tonight and picked up a load of other stuff as usual ......happy birthday fruit!

oh stunt god that is a particularly bad night. the only way I've been coping with that many wakes/constant writhing is cosleeping but it's not helped him. {hugs} have a few suggestions re teaching will post soon.

hugs to all shitty nighters Sad

bplp you describe George's current issues to a tea. he's also had a little cough all week too; kept thinking a cold on its way but none appeared. am going to speak to doc and consider if a) it's possible we have another kidney infection which is causing reflux as he's a bit sicky (just projectiled some feed before) or b) we just have occasional reflux which has always been there and the tongue tie didn't help as he swallowed so much air. his latch is a lot better since that so he doesn't swallow much air but maybe we always had the reflux to start with, and if reflux wasn't there the tt might not have been such as issue.

supposed to be having a speed nap....

ChasingDaisy · 28/04/2013 14:48

Happy Birthday fruit!

Well done petitepetite for the potty training Smile

Detective that's how my O takes his milk. He holds onto my fingers and guides the bottle to his mouth, pulling it away when he wants a break.

Not a bad night last night, he slept 7:15-1:30 and 2-5:30 before up for the day at 7. He is taking a lot less milk per feed at night now which I am taking as a good thing.

O is 5 months today and I have officially started his weaning by offering him some baby rice at lunch. He seemed to get the hang of it, but wasn't too keen on the taste. Don't blame him really. Will try it for another two days before moving to broccoli puree for 3 days as I already know he likes the taste of that.

MsJupiterJones · 28/04/2013 15:06

L turned 6 months on Friday and since then has (finally!) stopped waking at night. Grin

So no regression here yet for anyone worrying!

TheDetective · 28/04/2013 15:15

If he has already had broccoli you can add the baby rice to it now chasing :) He might prefer that?

O often takes his milk like that too lol! Not every time, but in the day, yup!

Thanks for the reassurance JJ

I just read O Each Peach Pear Plum. It was mine, from when I was little. I know this, because I wrote my name in. Backwards. And added my age. 3. And then at 9 I repeated this. But with my name, forwards.

I sent a picture to my mum. Apparently this upset her! D'oh! Thought it would make her smile!
