Oh chasing I promise you that you will only love him more and more.

horsey hugs.

evil it's the next chapter. Try and think of it positively. Nursery will be wonderful for him. Same BP re childminder.

I did my last KIT day today. Saw a colleague pregnant with her first. Listened to her telling me how she definitely will and won't be doing things. Smiled nicely and suppressed a smirk. "Helpfully" sent her my nursery's pricing policy.

Fatima not bf'ing but not weaning yet. DS is almost 24 weeks. Tried a couple of weeks ago and he just spat it out. We're away next week and I can't be arsed to faff with it all while we are away. S we'll try again when he is almost exactly 6 months.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/04/2013 20:54

Fatima we're ebf and other than licking a piece of pear, banana and kiwi, and a fist full of runny lime jelly at messy play, we're not weaning yet.

Clarella · 17/04/2013 21:12

weight off shoulders that 'formula can actually preserve bf' revelation thing. Smile

chasing I assure you you will love him more and more. you will want desperately to help him through those phases even though they drive you demented and your love for him will power you on.

horsey hope you feel better soon Thanks

baby down, briefly woke in terrorConfused but quick cuddle and he's down again. off to catch some sleep. sleepy dust to you all

Evilwater · 17/04/2013 21:13

I'm ok. Just feeling low. Not sure why. I've cried a fair amount lately. A lot to with bf but I think it's more to do with weaning and I'm trying not to get stressed by it. Other stuff too. I know a couple if people who attempted suicide lately. It's a bit shit. Ill perhaps post on the fb page. Anyway, dh keeps saying I look pale and washed out. I feel pale and washed out. I have no energy. I have no desire to do much really.

yw nap dodger here too. I'm blaming the wonder weeks.

MsJupiterJones · 17/04/2013 22:08

Can I ask how many feeds per day people are doing and what quantity per feed if bottles?

My Mums group expressed surprise that I am feeding L so many times per day. He has 4x5oz bottles plus 3-5 bfs per 24hrs (ranging from snacks to full feeds). I could increase the amount per bottle but then I think the bfs would phase out and I'm quite keen to continue. I was quite happy with our 'routine' but taken aback that the other Mums were so shocked. What do people think?

He's nearly 25 wks now btw.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/04/2013 22:09

Oh horsey - sending you a big cuddle. I'm tired, so this won't sound very eloquent, but - we're all here for you, but it might be worth having a chat with GP or HV about how you've been feeling. I hate to think of any of the quichettes feeling like you describe for any length of time. I was in a place like that a few weeks ago, and was beginning to question whether I had crossed the line between sleep deprivation and depression - luckily I got some sleep and things have steadily improved. Please don't suffer alone xx

horseylady · 17/04/2013 22:10

fatima with weaning I started properly really this week. He's had a few tastes the last couple if we are in the place to offer. This week at 24 weeks, he's been offered two meals a day plus finger food at lunch.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/04/2013 22:13

JJ F feeds at 3am, 6am (snack), 9am, 11/12, 2/3, 5, 7 (three course bloody meal) - all BF. She rarely will have an extra snack if she's tired or thirsty. So averages 8 feeds a day. I wouldn't worry about L - every baby is different. If you're happy with what you're doing, I would ignore the Shock faces and carry on.

horseylady · 17/04/2013 22:14

msjj 5 x 9oz bottles a day though now he's started ona few solids he's reducing the amount he eats by an oz or two. If you're happy, ignore other people.

pig thanks. It's a combination of a lot of things. I think I'm ok. Don't worry though I know to seek help if I need it. I just think there's been a lot to deal with and my nice routine is about to alter!! That's not just ds daily routine but my weekly one!!! I just don't like change!! But it's always fine.

We are on 5-6 8oz feeds a day. Usually around 42-45oz.

Massive hugs horsey xxx

MsJupiterJones · 17/04/2013 22:21

Sorry horsey x-posted. Really sorry you are dealing with this. We are here and thinking of you. Definitely talk to people about how you are feeling and the birth thoughts you have been having. Thanks

Kyzordz · 17/04/2013 22:26

Evening all! Time to post cos waiting to do df. Am having to resort to cunting app because I just can't remember who and what I wanted to reply to otherwise! And I feel awfully ignorant these days :( sorry guys! So... and if the fucking thing eats my post I'll fucking well delete it in protest

I got up to page 29

vq that sounds like a plan for j

mama never heard of silver foil, can you buy it online do you know? E loves noisy things

Clothes sizing, e is in 9-12 and I've got some 12-18 as some of the 9-12 doesn't fit him great anymore. He's not a little lad :/ but I don't think he's fat either

Naps-- e naps on the sofa. He can almost roll so I can't go far :/ haven't tried cot for a while, I daren't. Really do need to though. He did 3 hours earlier, and 3 other one hour blocks. He still went bed at 8:20 though

Hugs horsey

With weaning, we started with breakfast last Monday. He was having rusk until this morning when he tried baby porridge, and from Monday this week he has tried tea. He is not keen.

As it is I meant to mention weaning. I tried veg with baby rice today and same reaction as Monday, clamped shut and screaming all at once honest then he had juice in his sippy cup, choked on it and wouldn't eat a thing. Not even rusk. Guessing it was that he got worried? Looks like its mashed potato with veg then rather than baby rice. He doesn't have to have the same one 3 times in a row does he? Am trying not to stress when he doesn't eat, he will get there won't he?

Fucking love you all titcrocs :p df time!

YellowWellies · 17/04/2013 22:34

BPLP that sounds like my wee trougher he's always got a boob in his mouth! I thought I was the only one feeding so much. I wouldn't mind but he's a tiny munchkin in 0-3 month clothes - he must have hollow legs. He doesn't fuss just seems happiest on the boob.

Fatima we only started weaning this week - he's 25.5 weeks and I'm only just starting with tastes of purees - no real plans for formal meals yet am just trying one puree meal a day, trying a new fruit or veg every three days (have made pear, sweet potato, parsnip, apple, avocado, courgette and broccoli). Will get some baby porridge next week. Tried with some finger foods (pear) but his reflux means he's got an epic gag reflex! He likes sooking on chunks of fruit though.

Horsey its tough you get so used to a routine and it changes. I'm also finding that weaning is really hitting home how responsible I am for keeping the wee guy alive and developing. Feel like I've just mastered milk feeds and now its all change. Sorry to hear you're still sad about BF. You gave it your best shot - no one can ask for more xx

My sister is going to attempt to wrestle him into a cot for a nap tomorrow! Grin Grin Grin

Kyzordz · 17/04/2013 22:35

jj 5 x 8oz bottles, usually 32-36oz a day, think he'd have more if I fed him more but he doesn't neeeeed more. Plus he has started solids though it's a bit hit and miss. I am lying through my teeth not stressing about weaning though, he still drinks his bottles so can do without food food if he doesn't want it

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 22:42

I feel like we haven't even mastered milk feeds yet. :(

He's almost ready. Just the gag/tongue thing to go. He can pick up things and put them to his mouth, can sit up in the high chair, and momentarily unaided sitting, he shows interest in food. In fact, I had churros yesterday. Little bugger grabbed the spoon out of my bowl! Never moved so fast no reflux attacks here please!.

The one thing stopping me is that he is still just 20 weeks, and I want advice on what I am doing and where we go from here.

I think he will prefer food to milk though.

DP I make 6 bottles of 8oz, he takes 5- sometimes 6. Takes between 3-6oz. A couple of times he has drained the 8. But you can count that on one hand. 18-35oz a day is usual here. Yes. A massive variation!

MsJupiterJones · 17/04/2013 22:52

Thanks people, I'm not usually bothered by what other people are doing but it was the whole group being Shock that made me question myself. I think we're doing ok.

L is so much chubbier now but still on the comparatively small side, just transitioning into 3-6m clothes. Impressed with your blooming babies.

We have been doing BLW since Saturday and he's had tastes of carrot, pepper, squash, broccoli, cucumber, pear & banana. Not much swallowed but he seems to be enjoying himself so we're sticking with it for now. Sippy cup a disaster though.

Kyzordz · 17/04/2013 23:06

jj I won't be surprised if e is put off his sippy cup now and he was loving it before :( but since choking earlier he won't take anything other than milk but I'll try breakfast tomorrow again and try to act normal and offer it again. I have been offering it at mealtimes and he was getting good at it too not that good though clearly!

Is it still just water he's supposed to have?

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 23:11

Yep just water Kyz.

Kyzordz · 17/04/2013 23:21

Thanks det is that until 26 weeks? Figured it might be cos of weaning guidelines and whatnot

Someone please hit me with that fucking fish! We'll make it through weaning right? Fucking idiot blithering and worrying again!!! He's only 23 weeks FFs and is doing well. I need to stfu. Go on, ruddy well slap me silly with the Stoopid fish!

Need to sleep but can't settle because mind is racing with weaning thoughts. Twat. Hope good sleep is had by all!

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 23:32

For as long as possible really! After 6 months you can give diluted fresh juice, ie orange juice, but it should be 10 parts water to one part juice.

If he takes water well, just stick with that! It's easier. O tried to pinch my fruit shoot earlier. Fucker. He gets water! Grin I also had pombears.
