Someone help me, I'm having a complete brain block and inability to think

I'm doing DHs CV and listing what he did in a previous job. I want to write that alongside all the manufacturing, welding practical work he also did some officey type jobs i.e. quotations for jobs, ordering from suppliers, ringing up and chasing orders that type of thing. What do I class that as? The only words I can think of at the moment are office jobs and organisational but they're not the words i'm trying to think off.

Arghhh Bloody baby brain

Lily311 · 11/04/2013 12:15

Those of you with nappy problems, try going up a size.Olivia is in size 4+ during the night and it works. I use reusables during the day. She got wet in size 3s and 4s but 4+ does the trick.she is 16lb.

StuntNun · 11/04/2013 12:17

BigPig I put a next size up nappy on for nighttime so it can absorb enough.

MM are you using any steroids for M's skin? IME one or two doses of thickly applied hydrocortisone ointment can make a big difference along with emollient cream applied as frequently as you can and for some time after the skin appear healed or it can flare up again.

Just had to buy 9-12 month clothes for my nearly five-month-old baby Shock He isn't particularly big but he's long in the body so his 6-9 vests, sleepsuits and dungarees are all tight now. The separate tops and trousers still fit fine though. DS1 and DS2 weren't into 9-12 clothes until they were over a year old! This is the first time I've had to buy him all new clothes as I suspect DH gave this size to SIL. I got stuff in the BHS sale, where else is cheap good, especially for dungarees?

After my months of sleep horror, J has been going through the night without a feed for the last three nights. I'm still seeing a bit of night-cuddling and dummy-reinsertion action but he's much better at night for now, isn't there another regression due next month? If only DS2 would stop getting up in the night too.

My Open University assignment was due today and I posted it last Saturday. I think that's the first time ever I haven't been working up to the eleventh hour. Just one more to do then it's revision time for exams.

That sounds like a good 5 year plan to me mm I take it things are better with DP then? Why won't he look at it?

Good to hear that there is some sleeping going on in the quiche :)

Your birthday plans sound lovely tits - very thoughtful :)

Got my fingers crossed for you Fatima

I sat here looking at the grey drizzly weather and trying to think of something to do that will entertain both my 2 year old and my Dad. Have come up with pretty much nothing so far!

StuntNun · 11/04/2013 12:19

Fatima I'd call that administration.

ChasingDaisy · 11/04/2013 12:31

MrsG sounds fun. I vote she de-lurks.

stunt I was given an emollient and steroid cream for O's eczema. It has pretty much healed now and you can hardly see it. Shall I carry on using the emollient daily? What about the steroid cream?

FatimaLovesBread · 11/04/2013 12:40

Thank you Stunt Administration!!! How hard is it for me to think of one simple word Grin

MissMummy1 · 11/04/2013 12:42

Flare up caused by a poly mix vest yesterday. So angry with myself, I ALWAYS check them. Stunt she had a nasty reaction to hydrocortisone ointment but we have steroid creams to use instead. I have book her an emergency appointment with her derm specialist but it isnt until next weds. Confused This flare up was entirely my fault, I feel awful I have put her in pain Sad

Things with DP are better. Most of my frustrations with him are down to his lack of forward planning, hence the 5 year 'plan'. He is making an effort.

I think the flat is lovely, by no means a forever home and you could fit the whole thing in our lounge/dining room of this house but the £££ we would save in renting would accumulate to fund our house build. He agree to the plan, just not that flat despite being in my fav town in the area and having a fantastic mortgage deal. I shall link to it in a minute! Re things going wrong I will ensure some form of legal 70/30 split (in my favour seeing as I will be paying for most of it) is drawn up before hand. I could afford the mortgage payments alone, just not the rent on this house!! Hope that makes sense.

YW is welcome here anytime! VQ should I PM you her mob number?

Bryzoan · 11/04/2013 12:42

Fatima - an involvement in sales and managing procurement of supplies? I think the description of what he actually did is quite powerful though so would put that in too.

MissMummy1 · 11/04/2013 12:51

This is the flat I want to buy for our 5 year plan. It's not the prettiest but they rent really well.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 13:05

I have finally booked us a long weekend away in the mountains of Alsace mid May. Wooooo hoo. Bet you it will be the only weekend in May when it rains :o

I will have waited a long time for that break. Then back home a couple of weeks before our trip to the UK.

Roll on the time when I feel able to do a long haul with them we have so many places to go, things to do and see.

mm1 I think that is a lovely flat

LuisGarcia · 11/04/2013 13:09

Who here lives in New South Wales, then?

StuntNun · 11/04/2013 13:42

MM don't forget good old Vaseline. It won't do anything to restore the moisture in the skin but it can keep what's there in. I layer it over the emoillient cream to prevent further drying of the skin. Please try and stop M from scratching, I used to wear cotton gloves at night because otherwise I would chew my fingers in my sleep they were so itchy. Emulsifying ointment might be worth a try. I used to love this when I was a kid, I would put it on before getting in the bath then rub the warm ointment into my skin - such a relief. It's a bit old fashioned now though.

Chasing I try and limit the steroid to at most two applications in a 48 hour period although more can be required in bad cases. The emollient creams can be used as much as you can get to absorb. The important thing to remember is that although the top layer of the skin has healed there may be damage in the lower layers so keep applying the emoillients even after the skin looks clear.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/04/2013 14:13

mm flat looks like a safe bet from the rental potential point of view.

I am trying Vaseline at the mo to try and protect Olivers face from all his dribble works ok actually.

ChasingDaisy · 11/04/2013 14:17

Thanks stunt, I'll keep on with the emollient twice a day then. Have also reduced his baths to every other day, so hope that helps.

O just watched me eating lunch and stuck his bottom lip out when I wouldn't give him anyway Hmm I thought weaning would be way off for us but reading all your weaning stories has made me eager to start. Must be patient though as it will do him no good to start early.

I went and bought ice cube trays and freezer containers today, just need a food processor now. Any advice as to which one to buy? Also, how far in advance can I make and freeze purees?

TheDetective · 11/04/2013 14:26

Asda has a baby event starting 22nd I think. Anyway they have the little tommee tippee blender for £10. Am either going to get that or go the full hog and get a proper food processor.

ChasingDaisy · 11/04/2013 14:32

I read some reviews of the TT blender and they weren't very good. Can't remember what they said now...

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 14:38

I use a normal food processor. Have had it for 13 years and I use it all the time to do cake mixes, juice oranges, make bread crumbs, slice veg, and puree veg and fruit and soups. Best thing I ever bought for the kitchen.

The little blenders are useful when you're just pureeing up one or two portions but if you are batch cooking and freezingnthen a full sized food processor will be more useful imo.

chasing purees will be fine up to and probably beyond 3 months as long as sealed.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 14:40

I'm roasting some butternut squash right now and will give some to LO.

horseylady · 11/04/2013 15:29

mm if you can get the flat, get it. I think if you can own a property you can't go too wrong.

YellowWellies · 11/04/2013 15:38

MM you know me - party pooper - so some tough qs re your 5 year plan and the flat - as its shared ownership what happens if prices fall in most such deals you get lumbered with the neg eq - would you still have sufficient equity to renew your mortgage in a few years? I would be wary of investment properties in this market. We've bought ours knowing full well the local market is falling 8% year on year but its big enough to be a forever house and we've got a 5 year fix. I'd be wary of getting stuck in a 2 bed. Also if things went Pete Tong with DH would you be able to buy each other out?

Dietician wasn't much use today - she's going to post me a leaflet. Not much reason for schlepping over to Dunfermline. Had the bear weighed and he's the same as two weeks ago when he weighed the same as Tilly - so given he's visibly grown I think its fair to say that weigh in was wrong as we'd thought MM!

MsJupiterJones · 11/04/2013 15:52

Luis Grin

Pikz · 11/04/2013 16:02

Luis can I add how many times you get told to hire an au pair, leave them to cry and not carry them about and they eat too much.

Ok collective quiche wisdom... How do I get him to nap over 45mins in cot... He won't and has never had a dummy and seems wide awake when I go to get him Hmm

ChunkyChicken · 11/04/2013 16:24

Sorry, I'm going to boast...

Only 7lb left & I'm back to my pre-pg weight :)

I changed my name back because it said I was 'trying' to be less chunky, when in fact that's a lie. My diet consists of the neglected food groups; the whipped, the congealed & the choctastic.Grin I bleddy luffs bfing!!! :)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/04/2013 16:32

Oo mm we had an agreement of trust on our old house before we were married, I suspect that this is now required for your mortgage if this is the case as our sale was held up because someone in the chain didn't have one and the solicitor hadn't realised ( bearing in mind you scots are a bit different in your property law)

Well done chunky I too have half a stone to go to pre preg weight but really need to loose another half after that.
