Accidentally had to try the 'DH settles baby at first waking' as my sister had come round and I'd had Wine too close to feed him (he woke up early) so DH was tasked with getting him back to sleep. It worked - just one waking at 3am.

Right the movers are due - so naturally the boy is on my boobs. We'll be without internet until 23rd April Shock Shock Shock so I'm going to miss you ladies and gent. Be good. Sleepy dust to all. MM could you text me about the meet up on the 26th - if I don't see you. VQ if you want a blether about anything CMPI or otherwise - MM can pm you my mobile no. Good luck at the docs xxxxxx

Pass I'd try a night with arms out, then one with arms in until she gets used to the idea. We had a week between attempts and it seemed to give him time to get his head round it. The flailing arms thing only happened the first 2 nights - but then he's a committed hand nommer so liked having them free.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 11/04/2013 08:42

We seem to be having the same nights pass! Every hour again here for her dummy. I've moved B's carry cot back into our room do I only have to lean out of bed to put it back in. We have the mothercare miracle straight jacket swaddling blanket. She's too strong for the Velcro ones now, I'll have a look at the one you've got mamapo, poppers might work for us.

Titsalinabumsquash · 11/04/2013 08:47

we had third lot of jabs yesterday, today he's woken up and his breathing is really bad again, temp is up (Calpol helping slightly) nose blocked solid and my gosh is he whinging.
Made all the worse by having to be up at 1am to do ds1's iv antibiotic. Confused

BigPigLittlePig · 11/04/2013 08:48

Morning all.

Not sure what to make of last night ghastly - up at 12, 1, 4 and 5, then into our bed where she lay, grunting and farting from 6. Pretty tired today. I was hoping for much better, as we had such a good day yesterday, complete with naps and everything. Oh well.

We give ranitidine at first feed of the day (8ish), lunchtime (1/2ish) and last feed (7.30ish). And yes to extra gaviscon if needed.

YW good luck! See you in a few weeks!
Kyz today we're going swimming. Once I've had my broken fanjo appointment eek

Bit concerned that Fs 3-day poo avoidance will come to a head in the swimming pool. Could be messy.

Erm....
Thankful for ranitidine. And the quiche.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/04/2013 08:50

Hank you for EVERYTHING it has been a happy first week back at work. Talking of which.........I better get on with some. Shock

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/04/2013 08:55

pass thanks for that. Bit much for my little brain to cope with at the moment so will try and work it out later. Getting E weighed this morning so I'll have an accurate calculation.

Good night here, one quick freed at 4am. Seems to be what she does. She's just woken. She seems to do 9pm-9am with one or two quick wakes in between. Usually just one so am very happy with that. Just need to get her going to bed earlier and waking up earlier but once I start the pre school routine she'll have to get up earlier so hopefully she'll naturally start going to bed earlier.

BigPigLittlePig · 11/04/2013 08:59

What are people doing about nappies overnight? Currently, I put F in a Pampers super-dry at 7, and that's it until the morning (7.30). It's soaking by this time, although not leaking, but she has started to complain in the day about wet nappies. I'm wondering whether this is contributing to her early morning unsettledness.

I'm going to try changing her mid-feed tonight, as it will hopefully keep her awake for long enough to feed from both sides too, so she'll not wake up after an hour hungry again.

TryingtobelessChunkyChick · 11/04/2013 08:59

I've been thinking. The dung spreader and fire engine has clearly been excellent at distributing sleepy dust, but there are still a few sleep dodgers in our midst. I put this down to them not getting an adequate dose of dust. So...

We need a sleepy-dust crop-duster plane!!

Anyone know a pilot? I've flown a plane twice but not independently and way way too poor to get a private pilots licence so I could give it a go, but I think we might need a professional.

That way the sleepy dust will be evenly spread from above and land actually on the baby's face. I think, when spraying it horizontally, I.e. at ground level, it might be flying over the top of baby if they're laying down. I wonder if they need a full facial blast of dust to get the effect.Hmm

Actually, forget the pilot. Anyone have a plane??!!!

Grin

Bed at 8.30, stirred at 11, DF, then slept until almost 6. So a good block of sleep for me. Then we I dozed until 7.

YW good luck with the move!!

I am thankful that I don't seem to have a broken fanjo & my stomach muscles seem to have closed up again.

I am thankful DS self-settles for naps.

MissMummy1 · 11/04/2013 09:17

Fucksticks. I feel like I have very little to be thankful for today.

M's skin has flared up to the worst it has ever been.

She was awake all night scratching and crying (literally 10 mins sleep MAX)

She has just vommed all over my last lot of work clothes that remotely fit.

My landlord has 'news' for us. I have convinced myself he is going to sell up.

I have found a gorgeous flat we could afford to buy as part of our 5 year plan with a view to renting it out eventually and using the money we are saving in rent to build our forever home. Man child won't even look at it. Angry

I am in a shitter of a mood.

YW hope everything goes well today. You know where I am if you want/need to escape!!

BigPigLittlePig · 11/04/2013 09:34

Chunky yes yes yes to plane. This is what has been happening, clearly. F is usually asleep by the time pass and her muck spreader come out to play, the dust must just be skimming over her face and not actually landing.

So simple when you realise.

ChasingDaisy · 11/04/2013 09:35

I came on here to moan about my crap night but after reading MM 's post I will shut up. I cant imagine how you cope with such little sleep Brew Do you have any idea what caused the flare up?

pig I do the same as you currently with nappies. It is soaking but not leaking in the morning. I sometimes change it at 4/5am but am usually too lazy Blush

Operation Beat Insomnia took a step forward last night - I banned myself from using my phone at night and although O didn't sleep much, I managed to sleep when he did. I missed being on here though Sad

I have also formulated a plan to wean O off coming in bed with me in the mornings. For the next 3 days I wi attempt to settle him back in his cot if he wakes any time before 5, then will increase this by 30mins every 3 days until he is hopefully staying in there all night. Fingers crossed anyway.

TryingtobelessChunkyChick · 11/04/2013 09:54

BPLP indeed. Plus it will take less time to go from France to Scotland in a plane so quicker to distribute the dust and perhaps we could do a couple of dusts, so that the earlier sleepers get some and then get topped up again later?

YellowWellies · 11/04/2013 10:00

Eeeeeek MM Shock

LuisGarcia · 11/04/2013 10:06

MrsG humbly suggests a MIL drinking game would be more fun than MIL top trumps

2 swigs for every implied criticism communicated through conversation with baby
1 swig for every time your 'thin vegetarian breastmilk' is blamed for a poor night's sleep
2 swigs each time weaning onto an inappropriate foodstuff is suggested. double if said foodstuff contains offal. Triple if accompanied by the phrase "Didn't do mine any harm"

down your glass if they mention the "lovely afternoon nap" and "long lie in" they have enjoyed during their stay

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 10:19

I would so win that game. How many sqigs for direct parenting criticism? And for implying there is something wrong with your child when there isn't?

y'know, I live in France. You guys play, I'll just drink some lovely French wine.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 11/04/2013 10:22

Well another Shit night was had in the buzzy household :( Lots of wakenings and a couple of feeds. Getting seriously pissed off with the lack of sleep now. MIL could usually be called on for a break but her dad died yesterday so cant call her.

cacacaz lovely to see your name pop up! Hope your well :)

Whoever asked what todays plans are? Im dropping DD at nursery at 1 and heading to meet my mum, aunties and cousins for lunch which will be nice. Even nicer that DD will be in nursery rather than winding me up which she's done all morning!

I'm thankful that my son is incredibly cute, healthy and smiley even tho he doesn't sleep otherwise I would be a very depressed buzzybee!

Bryzoan · 11/04/2013 10:39

Brilliant game! Love the 'thin vegetarian breastmilk' :-) Bet MrsG isn't though. Think at least 6 swigs are in order for that one.

Can I have a swig or two for the cats bum face and mention of asthma every time I take dd1 swimming? She has low tone and both her physio and surgeon say lots of swimming is the best thing we can do (and dd loves it). Luckily I've managed to convince dh at least now...

Mm your night sounds crap. Are you feeling happier with dp generally now? Something to consider before buying together maybe as it would be hellish hard to unpick. Hope your day is better than your night.

Love the plane idea but am a little concerned that the dust won't make it past all the crap we have in our loft. Perhaps we need to put it in the water supply, hope it isn't denatured by boiling for bottles and that it makes it through to breastmilk. Might get the insomniacs that way too then :-)

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2013 10:47

How about mentioning potty training prior to 6 months? That must be worth a swig or two.

mm fuck that for a game of soldiers! Both Manchild and babychild poorilness.

I volunteer to use my Cape with special powers and flowers, and will do a fly over at 7pm, 11pm and 3 am. Not sure about outside Europe though.

J is trying to throw himself over today. He is almost there. He slept from 7.30 to 6.30 with a half hour waking at 3.30, with a feed. Both times I really thought he would not settle as he was clearly uncomfy with wind. He is a brave boy.

yw can you not get us on your mobile? I think frequent visits to mm are in order to keep up with Fred and kick her man into shape while you are there

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2013 10:52

I will be thankful when this afternoon is over and J is happily chugging on his bottle of mashed-potato-smelling formula after a dose of ranitadine.

Titsalinabumsquash · 11/04/2013 10:52

Sorry not to have read everything but where is everyone with weaning?

J is 22 weeks now and is having breakfast everyday, just fruit or veg purée or baby porridge. In not sure when I should increase it to lunch then dinner. He's still having just as much milk as he always was and is still bfing.

Also. Help me with DP's birthday?

I'm not getting him a big present, he's got everything he wants and anytime I try he is sweet enough to look delighted but all gifts end up stacked in his desk and never used. So I'm going for lots of little treats over the weekend of his bday.
I have booked a VIP seat at the cinema and dinner in a local little place we like.
I have ordered personalised balloons from the boys to fill the room.
I have 2 tiny desserts being delivered on the day with some spicery gift kit to make meals and cards from me and the kids.
I want to do/get little things just to say I care. I'm stumped now!

After Ms two wakes in the early hours, she then didn't get up until 9!! I heard her wake up a couple of times but she must hav just entertained herself and dropped back off. At 9 she'd been playing in her cot for 30 mins so thought I should get up. I'm thankful for that Smile

BPLP is it the super dry on the orange packet that you're usin at night? If so maybe switch to the baby dry in the green packet, I find they last we longer through the night. They're full to the brim but haven't leaked where as the super dry she was soaking in the morning

MM is manchild behaving now for you to be thinkin about buying together and building a forever home?
Sounds stupid but I've got a few friends who have found buying a house together to be a bigger commitment and harder to get out of when things go tits up than a marriage.

Sent my car for it's MOT, fingers crossed.
Also fingers crossed DHs old boss from last year rings back with good news

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/04/2013 11:46

mm show him picture of our NI build to try and persuade I will post the latest development on fb! Hope your day gets better.

I am still using new born naps and Tesco super flex.

tits o is on breakfast porridge and fruit, lunch, veg of orange and green origin, tea fruit and baby rice. Need to have a bit of a read at the weekend I think I need to move it on a bit.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/04/2013 11:47

Weaning has been a bit seat of pants this time as I am back at work, I have had time to think about it before.

TheDetective · 11/04/2013 11:48

Hope you get good news Fatima.

Good news all round here. 9-5, back in cot where he slept soundly til 8.30. And me til 11.30. Thanks DP! He has his uses. I feel like a new woman!

Best go let my baby know I'm still alive!

Good luck VQ.
