Missed out tits in hospital. Hope you're all doing ok. Z

itsnotyouitsMeals · 10/04/2013 01:33

vq ranitidine has helped loads here. Can't remember if J has it already?

LuisGarcia · 10/04/2013 01:48

I've got hiccups

kirrinIsland · 10/04/2013 01:50

First feed - 1.5 hours after I finally got her down in her cot :(

Oh no VQ - just when he was doing so well :( Hope he's ok and you get some sleep

A 6.5 hour stretch is great lily - hope he goes back down for another one.

Blimey meals - sounds like you've been busy :)

ValiumQueen · 10/04/2013 01:52

Meals J is on fuck all for reflux as the medics insist he has not got it. The dietician said he has. He has just had the worst coughing fit and sounds so very sore. He is shattered and does not want to be awake.

I am so fucking angry. I have been saying since he was 8 fucking weeks old that there is a problem.

I will get hold of the dietician tomorrow and ask her what she thinks is best. Maybe meds for reflux or CMPI free formula or both. I think the solids are possibly making things worse too.
HmmHmmHmm

ValiumQueen · 10/04/2013 01:54

I am going to try to sleep now.

I fucking hate hiccups Luis. Hope they fuck off soon.

Lily311 · 10/04/2013 02:01

Thanks for sleepy dust. I am afraid to say that Olivia might have got her share but I def haven't. Insomnia sucks.

Luis, hiccups are hideous. Especially at night time.

Clarella · 10/04/2013 02:44

gah to stupid farts! woke him up Angry he then started to nod off on my shoulder but wasn't comfy and he simply gets so cross he's been woken. so bloody comfort feeding. still, 2 and a half hours is progress. I so wish he were not on these prophylactic antibiotics. totally messed up his tummy. he'd better jump a centile after all this.... I suppose some would have said leave his to self settle Sad

hiccups at night are crap . could try a spoon of sugar luis?

oh vq that does sound refluxy. although a bit of a nightmare you could try infant gavisgon to test if reflux. only other thing is that g's water infection was picked up as I was questioning reflux - he was being sick and pain while feeding unsettled at nights. no other symptoms.

Clarella · 10/04/2013 02:45

vq I think solids can make reflux worse...

Clarella · 10/04/2013 02:58

right have squeezed as many farts out of that child as possible, Googled cherry dummies (gonna go to tommee tippee factory up here n do a raid soon) and tightly tucked that sheet over him again as I reckon it's helped.

PurplePidjin · 10/04/2013 03:04

I am a horrible, evil, nasty mummy. I forgot to bring the parent unit of the monitor up to bed. I was eventually woken by howls no tears though SadSadSad

On the other hand...

6 hours!!!!!!!!!!

Shock:oShock

TheDetective · 10/04/2013 03:46

Fuck you 2am. Fuck you. Angry

I made it to 3am by Calpol and pacing. Now he is fucking feeding.

Cunting bastarding night feeds. And a DP who is too weak to make him go longer when he bloody well can.

Grrrrrrrr.

I fucking hate night feeds.

TheDetective · 10/04/2013 03:54

Ha. He just puked all over DP. I knew I was right. Men never listen. Now we have pukey blankets, swaddle and a full change done.

ValiumQueen · 10/04/2013 04:01

Awake again after 1.5 hours. He was trying to self settle then started with coughing and woke DD2 up. Comfort feed in progress.

Clarella the medics have said it is not reflux and advised to start giving fruit puree as he is constipated on the LF formula. I would not be happy to give gaviscon as it would constipate him further.

Detective the dietician said babies with CMPI can be fine on SMA LF for some time due to partly hydrogelised milk proteins. Possibly got wrong word, but this could explain your boys problem too.

Been asleep and have had nightmares. Mainly of movement monitors and finding zombie baby in cot. I knew it was a dream as he was sitting in a corner. Really horrid though.

I am not tolerating many nights like this. I will be very insistent at the GP tomorrow if not today. First call will be to dietician though. Thank fuck she called on Monday and gave me the heads up this was likely to happen.

ValiumQueen · 10/04/2013 04:06

PP I have heard a theory that a baby will sleep through when mummy is too fucking tired to be woken by cries. I don't think it is true as my girls both slept through very early and boo was right next to me as we were camping. We do tend to respond to tiny noises though that our partners sleep through, thus possibly preventing them learning to self settle.

TheDetective · 10/04/2013 04:56

I've had to put him next door to fucking cry. I can't fucking do this.

I've had efuckingnough. There is nothing wrong with him. He's just refusing to sleep no matter what.

2 hours now and fucking counting.

Clarella · 10/04/2013 05:03

well done pidg! Envy

no not a good idea on the gavisgon if he's already bunged up. definitely get on the phone in the morning vq and I hope you get somewhere with it pdq.

arse. so will he never self settle now?
chopping on my nipple while squeezing out more wind. super angry that I even attempted not to feed. mind you it wakes him up more so at least he's feeding better. another 2 hours than the 1 it has been at this time. really wish I'd kept up with dummies at night - he sucked on one for a couple of hours when struggling with wind at 8 weeks. gonna keep up with the probiotic I was recommended for him as been a bit slack. it might help.

Clarella · 10/04/2013 05:04

oh hugs detective Sad

TheDetective · 10/04/2013 05:04

Picked basket up, swung it for all of 10 seconds and he's gone. Confused

What the actual fuck????

PurplePidjin · 10/04/2013 05:08

That is possible VQ and one reason i put him in his room - i don't necessarily get more sleep but the sleep i get is better quality iyswim because i don't twitch every time he does. The rooms are separated by built in cupboards, so he was shouting pretty loud but he wasn't upset. Not like this one, 2 hours after he last went down Hmm

Good luck with the foot stamping. If they refuse to give you what you want, try accusing them of starving your baby. Get melodramatic, demand referrals and second opinions - even another gp from the same practice. They are being ridiculous and i wonder if PALS should be aware of how you've been treated?

YellowWellies · 10/04/2013 05:27

VQ I know it doesn't help to say it but you guys have been treated shockingly. Call NHS24 and get shouty - they've heard of CMPI and reflux even if many GPs have not. As for your suspicians re weaning yes the texture and acidity of solids can make the condition worse hence weaning being a bit of a bugger and not the 'cure' many HVs seem to think it is. Do you have any questions you'd like me to throw at our dietician on Friday?

kirrinIsland · 10/04/2013 05:51

VQ this is getting ridiculous now :( It probably is time to shout and rant and refuse to leave without a referral. Poor J. At least the dietitian knows what she's talking about..

6 hours is great pidj :)

detective glad he finally gave in.

clarella wind seems to be an issue here too - i'm not sure if that's what's waking her but she's really stinky while feeding! Self settling doesn't happen here either - attempts to get her to result in hysterics every time :(

Lily311 · 10/04/2013 06:55

My baby is on the mend. Woke 3 times only. It would have been two but I wAs too noisy tossing and turning. Daytime naps are the answer.

StuntNun · 10/04/2013 07:02

It's partially hydrolysed milk proteins VQ. In the Enfamil-type formulas the milk protein has been hydrolysed. This just means the actual protein molecules have been broken down into smaller pieces so that they are less allergenic. I assume that the lactose-free formulas are partially hydrolysed as a result of the processing so that they contain less intact milk protein than regular formula. So that's why babies improve at first in the lactose-free formula, it's not actually anything to do with it being lactose-free. Hope that makes sense.
