Evening all,

Just a quickie question,if anyone knows the answer pleaseSmile.
I phoned up and booked Oscar's MMR jab today for the 4th of July, but I've just been on another chat forum and they are saying that they shouldn't have it until they are at least 15 months,so now I'm really confused.Has anyone else booked theirs yet?

teabelly · 15/06/2006 21:38

Fab link SFX - but no hungarian books?? Mum would be disappointed, but as I only know how to say 'you little bugger' [guess what kind of child I was Wink) I guess it's not a catastrophic omission Grin

giddy1 · 15/06/2006 21:42

Hi Bubbs....I'm not sure about that one eitherBlush
I meant to say befor but always forgot, WELL DONE !!!! for the weight loss. I have failed miserably.
love to your gorgeous smiley boy xxx

teabelly · 15/06/2006 21:45

Oh Bubb, you have to go with what you feel happy with, not what others would suggest. If you've read up on the different points of view, and feel happy to go ahead now then do so. If on the other hand your gut instinct is to wait then that's what you should do, and if your head is telling you to steer clear then again you should listen. That's abit of a cop out I know, but really I think as you're Oscar's parent and are the best person to have his best interests at heart only you know what you really feel happiest doing. I have lots of friends who have happily given MMR at 13 mths with no side effects, I have others who've waited anything up to 2 years before they've felt happy. Others again have given singles to give themselves peace of mind, and then there's me who hasn't given them at all. I'm happy with my decision as others are with theirs, but I wouldn't advocate that others follow me - do what you feel happiest with is all I can say Smile

muma3 · 15/06/2006 22:20

hi all im still here - just Smile

bubbs - just moved and have taken dd2 and dd3 to see health visitor. i mentioned that dd3 is due her mmr soon . i said that i would wait a couple of months but she then went on to tell me that they are suppose to have them between 13 and 14 months of age ???? hth?

dont know whats happening to my relationship just recent. dp is turned into a stroppy twat and is shouting at all of us . i cant stand it anymore. not only that but he is no fun and hasnt smiled in weeks . we have been having sex just recent to and i assumed he would be relieved and happier (i have almost zilch libido) he still isnt doing much sround the house or helping more and im starting to flag for it now. feel totally drained . thing is i cant leave it for him b/c 1 it makes the arguments worse and 2 i cant sit in a mess i have to pick up and clean if it needs it .

dd3 can stand on her own no for a long time . it only started today so i think we could have amother walker here soon . about time too Smile she has gone from ginger straight hair as a baby to a blonde afro . i cant do anything with it Grin

KATZG - im really happy for you and i hope that you get this job hunni xx

2happy- you will forget it all again hun just try to enjoy it now , (she says still very jealous and Envy) hugsxx

giddy - hun i hoope your dd is doing wellxx

happy birthday to all the junie babies i have missed i hope it all went well and im very sorry.

im still lurking but as the comp is now upstairs it makes it hard to get to in the day .

i have sneaked away as the footy was giving me a headache . i dont mind having to watch england but any other team and i want to go to sleep . i have it all year round though as dp plays /lives/sleeps football.

been cool here . had alot of rain yesterday but its getting warmer again Smile

hope everyone well and i am trying to make an effort honest. housework/decorating/garden/pets/school runs/ 1year old , im finding it all hard tbh Sad

Bubbaloo · 15/06/2006 23:02

Thanks for the info ladies.I might perhaps leave it another month or 2 and then have it done.
Muma-Sorry to hear about your dpSad.Hope things improve soon.Oscar's hair has also changed and now has lots of curls and he has even been mistaken for a girl a couple of timesShock.
Hi Giddy-He's not very smiley at the mo as his teeth are giving him some jip.Have posted a recent pic on the site though.I have done really well on the diet and have lost 3.5 stone, but have come off it for a few weeks and have already put half a stone back on.Got lots of socialising coming up too-Oscar's birthday, our anniversary,my birthday and we're off on our hols next Sat.
Will hopefully get "back on track" soonSmile.

Hope all Junie mums and babies are wellSmile.

teabelly · 16/06/2006 08:22

Morning ladies Smile

Happy Birthday wishes to little man Jonah Smile...and to my ds who's 4 today!

Bubb - that's a fab weight loss - don't worry if it goes awry every now and then - at least you know you can do it when you need to - busy times ahead too Smile hope you're holiday's fab!

Right had better go and chase the couriers up who have failed yet again to collect ds's new bike Sad good job we had some little pressies to give too.

tribpot · 16/06/2006 09:08

HAPPY BIRTHDAY littleMrJonah, hope you have a lovely day. Good weather for it!

tea - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to teaboy, I guess he is going to school next term? My dniece turns 4 in August, can't believe that she is going to school. It seems like only yesterday that -er, she turned two :) (Since they didn't adopt her til 18 months we missed out on her first birthday).

Muma3 - sorry to hear things are difficult.

Bubba - not made a decision about MMR yet, I am doing a study for Leeds Uni about the info they provide to parents, and pointed out to them if I booked the MMR before reading their info it would invalidate their study a bit (this foxed them, apparently it had never occurred to them before).

sfxmum · 16/06/2006 09:57

good morning ladiesSmile not much sleep around here for the past couple of days[very tired and sleepy emoticon]

happy birthday little jonahb (still remember how she got that name, very sweet)

muma - sorry things are hard

tea - Hungarian- check thats a challenge
happy birthday to your big man

bubbaloo - MMR well around here they are doing it along with the new one Prevenar was told would be at around 13months but no word yet, i would rather wait a bit longer and give them separate, but not singles iyswim. probably would do that if i had a boy. having said that i have worked all my life with people within ASD some in their 50's so i guess causes not that straight forward.
i do worry when studies are blown up in the press without details. i guess we do what we fell is best for our babies. (sorry long ramble)

guess happy birthday to your little one since you will be away - have a nice time and well done on the diet i have a stone to shift but apparently it likes me too much to leave.

BTW dd watching Tikkabila am highly amused by summerton mill its like a cross between the archers and BrigadoonGrin

Bubbaloo · 16/06/2006 10:42

Happy Birthday littleJonah and to Tea's ds1.Hope you all have a nice day and that the weather is nice there tooSmile.

Thanks for the MMR info-I'm still really confused,as it doesn't take muchGrin.I'm going to phone and postpone it for a couple of months...I think.Sorry to sound a bit dense but what's Prevenar? I haven't heard of itBlush.

Thansk SFX-We're not going away til next Sat.We're having Oscar's party tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to and then Dh is off for 2 whole weeks,so we'll go for lots of days out next week, and then we're off to sunny MablethorpeGrin.

sfxmum · 16/06/2006 11:06

prevenar is a new vax for pneumococcal meningitis, you may remember amyjade little one died of that nasty thing NHS is introducing for all new babies and catching up on older ones until 2yrs ld i think

another thing about MMR for us is that we want to start trying for another baby by the end of the summer and sometimes when children get the vaccine they may get a weak form of the diseases, not so good if you are pregnant

lummox · 16/06/2006 11:13

Thanks for that sfx - I need to check that out, as they tend to go for MMR at 12 - 15 months here, but I had read before that it might not be safe if I'm pregnant.

I had been planning to wait a while anyway, and ds will only be 20 months when the new one arrives so hopefully it will be OK.

ds had prevenar at the same time as his earlier jabs.

it's funny about MMR - I was a bit unsure about it until we discussed it with the doctor here. in France no-one discussed MMR/autism, but lots of people think that the hepatatis vaccine can lead to multiple sclerosis in later life. that wasn't what made me decide to allow ds to have it, though. it was the fact that the doctor was more than happy to let us have single vaccines or the MMR but thought that on balance MMR was better and was happy to discuss it. That was a major contrast to what my SIL got in the UK - a health visitor who made her feel that any decision other than MMR was practically child abuse and a patronising video.

Sorry - bit of a long one there.

I also totally agree with everything teabelly said about it.

Bubbaloo · 16/06/2006 13:31

Very interesting-I also never knew about about the pregnancy thing and we also want to start ttc at the end of the summer.
Going on the fact that it took us 7 years last time to get pg,I don't think I'll be in too much dangerGrin.Think I'll speak to my HV on Monday and see what her opinion is,as I'm still really confused[thick emoticon!!!]

2Happy · 16/06/2006 14:58

Happy birthday to little Jonah and not-so-little Teaxx
Muma - I'm sorry about your dp Sad
Bubbs - I was going to get ds MMR'd (normally at 13 months, but then again, my ds has only just been called for his 8 month check next week, so they probably won't call him for MMR until he's about 7 lol!); but I didn't know that it wasn't safe if you're pregnant. I'll have to ask HV about that one.

lummox · 16/06/2006 15:49

happy birthday for little JonahB and tea's ds. hope you all have a lovely day.

katz - went to the supermarket today and couldn't resist buying snow white, red riding hood and the jungle book in French. they were only a euro each, and i'm happy to keep them if they are not of interest, but they are quite sweet editions.

i'd be more than happy to post them to you when we're back in blightly next week. let me know - my email address is the name of this website with ter at the end dot gmail dot com.

Bubbaloo · 16/06/2006 16:08

2Happy-Lol at 7 years! Count yourself lucky you're getting a 8 month check at all.Oscar's last and only check was at 8 weeks.I was told they no longer do an 8 month check or even a year check around here and that he'll get a check hopefully at 18 months, which is really bad, espcially as ds has a few health problemsSad.

Bubbaloo · 16/06/2006 16:10

BTW...You don't get called for any jabs etc...around here-you have to phone up and make an appointment, which is also rather annoying, especially if you have a memory like a sieveBlush.

MrsWednesday · 16/06/2006 21:04

Happy first birthday to your DS, JonahB. And happy fourth birthday to your DS Tea. Does the thought of him going to school make you feel all tearful? They all grow up so fast.

Bubbaloo · 17/06/2006 07:52

Happy Birthday to Pink and Mumatuks's Ds'sSmile.
Ds is having a little party today.I spent all last night blowing up balloons-lets hope they don't burstGrin.

teabelly · 17/06/2006 10:06

Morning ladies Smile

Pink & Mumatuks HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your lo's hope you're having a fun time Grin

Bubbs - hope all goes well for the party, and you're not too out of puff!

MrsW / Trib - I just can't believe where the time has gone! School's upon us already and yet I remember so vividly arriving home with this tiny babe that I never thought I'd have - and all too soon it'll be time to contemplate car/bike/car?? Wink OMG and then there'll be girlfriends too Grin still that's a better thought than dd and boyfriends!!! Shock

katzg · 17/06/2006 10:11

Happy birthday to the lastest Junie babies!

Lummox- have emailed you - yes please to the books

MMR - we are waiting until after DD2 sees the consultant next, when she gets a temp her rash goes very red and she doesn't sleep well and gets grumpy - so i want to be able to control her rash before we give her the jab.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 17/06/2006 10:19

happy birthday to baby tucks and baby pink

bubb - hope party goes well

about MMR i did not mean that the vax is dangerous in pregnancy, rather am trying to work out a timing so that the risk of dd contracting any nasties while i am pregnant are low.
but like someone else said it took me ages to get pregnant last time who knows if it eill even happen at all

am annoyed with dh who yesterday told me he would let me have a lie in today, dd not sleeping well for most of the week so so tired and no blinking running since i can barely keep eyes open - well dd up at 5.40 dh up 9.15 - bastardAngry must be nice now so as not to ruin the rest of the day, at present still ignoring him and his apologiesBlush

about this growing up business got myself all worked up dreading future school gates and school fetes and other parents....oh i must calm down nowGrinboyfriends! good lord! not until she is 40 i reckon

tribpot · 17/06/2006 12:54

HAPPY BIRTHDAY babyTucks and LittleBoyPink!

Sfx, did your dh just refuse to get up when dd awoke? I wake dh up every morning when ds gets up so he can experience the joy of the 515 start as well (admittedly he does then go back to sleep, but often after trying for an hour to get ds to get back to sleep too). The latest ds has woken this week is 555 and more usually it's closer to 515 as it was this morning, I am absolutely dead on my feet.

Have a lovely party Bubb! My party woes continue as now some of dh's family who I thought wouldn't come are coming (they are nice though and it helps to spread the numbers of dh's family in case of major rows between the BIL and his ex) - I've already ordered the food! Oh well, let them eat cake. (Haven't bought a cake)

sfxmum · 17/06/2006 18:13

gosh lack of sleep makes me crankyBlush
dh is really ok usually i get a lie in at weekends but missed it last week due to work.
poor man had a stressful week, it was pretty much who gave in first...oh well tomorrow its ME

trib-about this early waking up surely we are paying the price for not following the hallowed guidelines of she who must not be named - oh those blackout blinds - its tiring

really hot here my will broke and i went for frappuccino - the local coffee shop next door will surely ban me

tribpot · 17/06/2006 18:57

Not to worry, sfx, if you are getting a lie in at ALL you are doing better than me (although see previous note on the fact that dh does have a go at getting ds back to sleep; if I did it, I would be too awake by the end of it to go to sleep anyway. Also dh used to do the night feed always, although I had to get up, make the bottle, present him with bottle and child and not be able to get back to sleep til I knew all were sleeping again).

I would bow to She Who Must Not Be Named and get blackout blinds except we are in a rented house and also, do they not make the room very hot? We used pretendo blackout blinds in the main bedroom (bin bags) and it was stiflingly hot as a result. Dh wants to plaster the window with tin foil, not sure the pilots at the nearby airport would approve.
